  1. Yet another update.

My virus scanner has revealed nothing out of the ordinary.
Running a bad-block test has revealed... my drive is in good order.
I've cleaned up all registry errors that I could find.

Hopefully in the long run all of this tweaking will help with my stability.

Unfortunately, the updater is STILL stuck trying to fix (download) sound.pigg. Every time I try to run the updater again, it will checksum, then attempt a download... which does nothing, every time. I'm now completely locked out.

    --

Well, I'm pleased to announce that the updater finally fixed everything (downloaded sound.pigg). Unfortunately, I'm still having the same disconnect issues. This leaves me with updating my BIOS driver (which as I mentioned I'm concerned about doing) and running a memory test.

    <frustrated>
  2. Hmmm... I'm not sure what's going on, but following Zombie Man's instructions, the sound.pigg file is refusing to download. The updater is showing no download progress at all, no matter how long I leave it up and running...

which has me a little worried, as I don't see any way around the issue to get back up and running again (aside from reinstalling, which I assume isn't the best method).

I'm also super-uneasy about updating my BIOS, as the website is VERY hard to understand (for me anyway). I was able to obtain this info:

    BIOS Type:Phoenix-AwardBIOS
    Date:July 25th 2008BIOS
    ID:07/25/2008-790GX-SB750-8A660J19C-00-NoneBIOS
    OEM:V.HA07 A01 07-25-2008 - 6.00
    PGChipset:AMD 9600 rev 0
...but really don't know what to do with that.

  4. Please disregard my last message. I will be there, 3PM pst on my ice/db tank. Sorry for the back and forth, RL is a fickle mistress.
  5. Unfortunately, I'll need to bow out for Sunday. Good luck to y'all. If you run on a different date, let me know, I still want to see this one through
  6. Thanks both for the reply. I'll check out those solutions and report back when I know something more.
  7. Bump. ~160 views, but no thoughts? I've switched up virus scanners just to see if there's something fishy going on in that department... no luck. If anyone has any thoughts, even if they seem like long-shots, I'd really appreciate it.
  8. Personally, I was very unimpressed. I like the concept of all four prisons being broken out of, setting up layers of villains to fight over the course of the show. (by layers I mean all the one-shot villains along the way, masterminds like The Leader and The Mad Thinker and then whoever broke everyone out)

That said, the execution left a lot to be desired. A lot of the animation was awkward (though I liked most of the final battle), the voice acting is very hit or miss (Ironman is just... ugh) and the character design itself is very... odd. Lastly, the theme song is so ridiculously juvenile 'rock', my friend and I were laughing the whole way through. We were both convinced the Jonas brothers were involved somehow...
  9. My biggest concern right now in being the only tank is my disconnection issue. I only seem to crash while zoning, with the rare sound loop bug, so I shouldn't simply disappear in the middle of a battle.

Just wanted to be clear that I'll (likely) pop off and then back on again a few times. No responses to my thread in the tech support forum, so it's a condition I have to live with at the moment :/
  10. I hate to seem desperate, but I'm getting close to it. The game is getting unplayable for me... I'm crashing every other mission and can't seem to find a reason why.

I've shut down all other programs to see if it's a memory issue (it shouldn't be). Same results. I've actually DELETED all my pigg files and had the updater "repair" them. Same results. As mentioned above, I also reduced my graphics setting to recommended. Same results.

To recap, I have no problem with lag, ever. Even the ITF lag-hill of doom doesn't do much to me. However, upon zoning in and out of a mission, or even out of a BUILDING like a hospital, I'll crash. On the rare occasion, I'll get a sound loop bug and THEN crash, but that's not as common.

I've added a Hijackthis report below, as I forgot to do that in the OP.

  11. Double emp sounds awesome to me, especially if I'm the only tank.
  12. REALLY disappointed he's gone. BABs had reached a certain rapport with the community I can't imagine anyone else replacing.
  13. Would I watch it? Probably. Would I still consider it Indiana Jones? Not even remotely.
  14. I can also show for the Wed attempt. I can either bring my Tank again (Tsuin), or my Fort.
  15. I'm.. betting the pets simply had an outside buf placed on them that had been colored. There is definitely no current method for customizing pets.
  16. The thing that discourages me most about bases right now is that, well... at one point there was going to be an issue that was VERY base-heavy (don't recall which). There was even a dev-joke about "all your base are belong to us." Then, when they realized the new tools were actually not going to beneficial at all, the tech was scrapped. Now, while I'm fine with them getting it right the first time... what happened to all of that momentum?

I know the MA, power customization, Going Rogue and now Incarnates are all MAJOR undertakings, each with it's own specific boon or benefit to the community (player-created content, massively extended character customization, side-switching/early-game upgrade and now late game content). That said, one of the greatest potential areas for practical and customizable content is getting left behind. It's getting left behind for reasons I understand (early and late-game content being a focus makes complete sense), but... <grumbles>
  17. I'd be willing to join this on my tank, should I be able to get him red-side on time (working on that now, so shouldn't be an issue). He's Ice/ so can handle the ambush aggro pretty well.

My main (and namesake) is a grav/storm and no, Hurricane doesn't completely mitigate how much Tornado throws mobs around, though it does help. If you want to completely lock down a mob for Tornado, grav/ really isn't the best option.

Keep in mind though, even immobs that provide -kb can't negate Tornado's kb completely. That is, the -kb in immobs have a shorter duration than the immob itself, especially after slotting. Be prepared to spam those immobs!
  20. - Turn Solar Flare into KD, continuing to provide mitigation without disrupting an entire mob.
    - Add the same stun secondary effect of Gravitic Emanation to Proton Scatter (the powers are nearly identical in every other way, why no stuns for PBs?).
    - Add slight mez resistance to each shield (for WSs as well) that stacks with each shield.

    Done.
  21. I've taken the #4 route on a couple of characters actually... my Fort and my PB actually. I've stripped them both of the fitness pool and salvaged some of the higher end IOs (a couple of LotGs) from my Fort and plugged them into the PB (the character I'll be taking Incarnate first). Playing them after the fact has proven... interesting to say the least.

I've also been using option #2 (sorta) on my new Elec/Earth Dom. I say sorta because he doesn't actually NEED the fitness pool, but will enjoy the boost whenever i19 hits.
  22. Anyone? The DC's are pretty common at this point, but strangely don't appear to have anything to do with lag-creating situations. The ITF lag hill didn't even give me pause. Zoning out of the mission, however...
  23. Just got this message right before another crash:

    ./piggs/sound.pigg: Corrupt pig file detected
Read failed for file: sound/Ogg/5th Column/PropPA_loop.ogg
    -1

Your data might be corrupt, please run the patcher and try again

Not something I see every time, but... it's something.

    --

Also, the updater NEVER runs a Verify Image after a crash now... which seems odd to me.
