Power colors and pets... WTF?

So, I have a demons MM. I have two hellfire demons -- a big one and a little one. They are black and red.

My traps/sonic defender was on a mission team with a demons/something MM. The demons looked identical to the ones I'm used to.

Then another MM joined our team... and the hellfire demons, both the big and little one, were wreathed in bright purple -- 0xff00ff, seriously.

...Does this imply that there is a way to use power colors to influence the appearance of the pets? If so, what is it, and how does it work?

(edit: i can remember what order RGB goes in, really)

I'm.. betting the pets simply had an outside buf placed on them that had been colored. There is definitely no current method for customizing pets.

It was exactly the shape and behavior of the normal hellfire flames, and they didn't have the usual red/black stuff.

Wonder if it was maybe some kind of bug.

You can change the color of the hellfire pets' flames and some of the zombies' dark attacks though power customization.

How, specifically? Do they key off a specific color in a specific power? Do both hellfire pets key off the same color, or can they be different?

IIRC, it's based on the colors you give your pet summon powers in the character editor. I know I have my Necro/Dark set up so that the Lich and Dark Servant are on a different color than the rest of my Dark powers -- makes it easier to stack holds (or spread them around, for that matter) and so forth when I can tell who put what on whom.

I haven't tried this on the demons, for what it's worth. As far as I know, this only works for pets that have powers/animations that are based on ones available to players (e.g. Necro with all the Dark-based stuff).

The hellfire demons will burn the same color as your summoning circles, more or less, depending on if you pick Dark or Light colored power for that summon. Play with it at the tailor. If you zoom out with the button at the bottom on the Power Customization screen, you can see the demons getting summoned, and what color they are. Mine are a bright green, a greener green than the default color.

^ This, my demons bright pink right now. Bear in mind its the 3rd pet that gets coloured though, and the 2nd tier 2 pet. It doesn't colour them all.

What that probably means is that the other animations are old Legacy animations, but as Hellfire is a brand new option is it colorizable by default. Putting it another way, you can't NOT have a color set for Hellfire, although the devs could have hardcoded one.

Hopefully this means the other attacks can eventually be replaced as with the player attacks, but this will take time. And you'll be stuck with the same color for all the attacks, unless the UI is upgraded.

All the demon animations are probably new, so they could likely have made all the demon attacks use the same colors as the Hellfire. However, the demons use multiple different elements so that would look kind of silly, and the UI doesn't support multiple color options for one power. To do it right they'd need a separate pair of colors for the Fire, Ice, and Hellfire attacks.
