everyone and their brothers playing tank for the easy route to 50

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oooh, now you're bringing my sister into this?? j/k

Personally I picked a tanker for my first character because it sounded like a survivable AT for someone trying out the game for the first time. If I wanted to be "uber" I certainly wouldn't have gone with war mace as my secondary I haven't been playing my tank a lot lately because I've been concentrating on my controller. I still enjoy playing my tanker though and I'm happy with his current build and abilities.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH TANKERS THAT THEY CAN'T ADAPT BUT JUST CRY?!?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Us tankers are an emotional lot and crying is cathartic
  3. That thread focussed on PvP use of epics which may be why most suggestions were for Psi or Primal. Personally I picked up fire on my ill/kin. I could have picked up the psi pool but I don't really need psi-resistance for PvE and I have break frees for status protection when I need it. Primal was another one I was looking at picking but I didn't think I would get as much benefit from power boost as other kinds of controllers might. In the end it came down to personal preference and what fit my character best - I wanted to be able to deal more damage and I thought fire attacks would go better with my character's look.
Fireblast is a good single target blast and generally does quite good damage. It's very handy having a good single target attack that does a different damage type to spectral wounds. No longer do I have to struggle against certain enemy types because they're resistant to psi damage (a high level banished pantheon mission from Unai Kemen became a happy xp-fest whereas when I was facing them in Striga they frustrated the hell out of me due to the amount of time it took me to whittle down their health).
Fireball is a nice aoe attack that is great fun to use directly after fulcrum shifting a large group, especially if you or someone else has set up containment for double damage (I love getting invited to teams with lots of other controllers as I'm pretty much guaranteed containment ).
My damage dealing on teams has increased a lot since I picked up the two fire pool attacks and my soloing speed has also improved a lot. I'll be picking up fire shield at lvl 49 to round out my build (I haven't bothered with consume as transference gives me all the endurance I need).
  4. Lots of tanks are fitting the medicine pool into their builds these days
  5. Congratulations and happy new year!

ok, villain now lvl 40, and all i can say is FULCRUM SHIFT ROCKS!

ok, now my main tactic isnt the best, or does is have a high survivablity but jumping into a 10 man mob, FS'ing, (maybe aim and inps b4 hand) then nuking and clearing the room or mob (hopefully) is great

and if i dont clear, 1 catch a breath and transference later and im ready to continue!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh, that's my tactic with my /kin controller too when I'm on large teams, only I use fireball from the ancillary pool. It must be the most fun thing I've ever done in game
  9. You dropped Spectral Terror?? For shame!
  10. I won't be able to join a sg but if you do organise a hami raid I'll be there
  11. Ill/Kin is a very tough build to plan because there are so many nice powers in the sets The only power I skipped from the primary is Group Invisibility and the only power I skipped from the secondary is Repel. I'm picking up Flash at level 49 and I'm only picking it up then to set up containment for my fulcrum shifted fireball . I've survived quite happily to level 45 in teams and solo without flash and I wouldn't be all that upset if I didn't pick it up at all. I prefer spectral terror if I want to remove bad guys from the fight for a while.

On the kinetics side I use siphon speed and inertial reduction as my travel powers (I love super jumping ) so I only picked up hover from the flight pool. That was after a respec though; in the lower levels I went the same route as you're going - air superiority/fly and then hover/fly.

On the hasten issue I'd probably be more inclined to take it than to drop it. While teaming I've lost count of the last gasp transfusions I've thrown out to save someone's life (there have been plenty that were a second too late too ). Without hasten more of those transfusions would have been too late and more of my team mates would have suffered for it.

Best of luck with your controller I've found Ill/kin to be a very fun and soloable build. It's definitely not as focussed on control as other controller sets are but it makes up for that in terms of variety and flexibility.
  12. I would agree with picking up inertial reduction if most of your PvP is going to be in the PvP zones. I found it invaluable as an escape tool on the occasions I've used the PvP zones
  13. Sure, if 20 more heroes had turned up we could have gotten through the mito stage ok
  14. More correctly:

    The raid failed
    And then the zone crashed

My controller will be > lvl 45 for the next one - I'm looking forward to being able to play a more active role
  15. Before COV launched if I did a search on Defiant there were usually between 600 and 700 players playing of an evening. When COV launched that dipped down to between 200 and 300. Recently when I've searched there have been around 400 playing. The few times I took an alt for a wander on Union back before COV was launched there were > 700 players playing but I haven't checked since then.

Edit: This refers to hero numbers btw - I have no idea how populated the villain side of the servers are
  16. I'm an habitual soloer and I find it very hard to get out of the soloing mindset (I think I soloed 95% of the time with my tank from levels 15 to 40). I do enjoy teaming but generally I'm quite happy to spend my evening working my way through my missions by myself.
  17. Unfortunately you can't enter The Hive unless you're lvl 45 or higher.

I'll probably be along for mito bashing duties and monster patrol during the holding phase
  18. I could have sworn Union had at least two tanks to Defiant's one Plus we had two heroes at lvl 42 and one at 41 whereas all of Union's heroes were playing at lvl 46 With the strange mix of AT's combined with the level mix it's hard to say who had the advantage. All in all though it was a very good match and I look forward to seeing another test server rumble organised soon.

I foolish took Willow to PI to change her level when i was helping one of my friends out afterwards.....that was about an hour ago and shes stil loggin out. After i'd spent about 20 minutes putting a team together too.

Good news: we completed the mission
Bad news: it was bugged and refused to accept that it was completed
  20. A team oriented Illusion build but yet no Spectral Terror? The accuracy slotting also confuses me - at first glance it looks like it's overkill designed for PvP. Do you mean pure PvE teamplay or pure PvP teamplay?
