  2. I would be happy if they fix the end values for /traps corruptor powers. Hopefully when it is ported over defender side such an issue will come to light.
  3. Yes I have noticed this as well recently. It makes leveling certain builds unbearable right now.

I do not like the idea of making FFG a toggle given /traps for corruptors can be end heavy.

Are you sure? Can anyone compare Sonic dispersion vs /Traps FFG as an example?
  5. I do not like the idea of making FFG a toggle given /traps for corruptors can be end heavy. MM's that use traps do not have to deal with the endurance problems that corruptors do.

    From my end:

Namesake is the first hero I created, Mind/Bubbles. Gave me a soft spot for Controllers.

My first villain was a Stalker...at CoV live launch. Did the "Sneak to end, AS Boss and guards" so much I missed most of the content. Rushed to 50 to realize there were no VEATs and then played CoH most of the rest of the time.
I recently rolled another Stalker and am enjoying her more than the first one.

Blasters...I have a 35 Ice/EM and a 25 AR/MM. I doubt I will ever level a Blaster to 50. It's not so bad till the 30s, when you fight Freakshow, Devouring Earth, Crey, then Malta Ops and others. Stuns, Sleeps, Holds, all sorts of stuff. Sure I carry Break Frees but I'm also dead a lot, even with the new Defiance. I usually pop 2-3 reds, Aim+Build Up then tear into some mobs and a patrol gets me or I overcommit and die. Just not fun.

I guess Blasters just aren't for 'me'. When I want to Blast I log in my Rad/Therm Corruptor, my Storm/Sonic Defender, my whichever...I like shooting stuff but I also like buffing, debuffing, toggling defenses, choosing which defenses to use, timing my click heals instead of going 'attack attack attack attack attack' all the time.

    My favorites:

    Corruptor - Damage PLUS debuffs/heals/buffs
    Controller - Damage PLUS debuffs/heals/buffs
    Defender - Damage PLUS debuffs/heals/buffs
Scrapper - Damage PLUS toggles/heals/aggro management
    Peacebringer - Damage PLUS toggles/heals/aggro management/versatility
VEAT - Damage PLUS teamwork toggles/versatility

I also like Dominators a lot. I've always thought of Dominators and Corruptors as 'fixed' Blasters. They can hold and damage, damage and debuff, damage and do other stuff...I get bored only attacking, I like to 'meta' my mobs between heals, debuffs, toggles, attacks...maybe I'm just weird.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are not wierd as blastroller playstyle has always been popular.
  7. Seekers drones should be available sooner IMVHO.
  8. Because of the new changes I decided to start a fresh dom. Gravity/Ice, and I have to say I am seriously impressed thus far. I used to save Domination on teams for control, and when soloing to fill up my blue bar really (which didn't happen often). After the dom changes I still use the same approach, but the difference for me is that the damage outside of domination is greater. As it has been said before the people that used domination sparingly are better off with the new dom changes. Those that used domination aggressively are most likely experiencing a lesser state.

Redside needs more love. That's not exactly a mystery.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True, but I do not understand why stalkers are so unpopular? With the recent changes to stalkers I find them very enjoyable to play with.
  10. Focus can be used to control a pesky target. It is your best friend, and good at catching runners as well. Also helpful against flying foes. Only reason to skip focus is for conceptual reasons for your character.

In theory, the difference is the crit chance - but most folks don't even know it's there, and it isn't that meaningful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, no. That's part of it (or will be) when it's ported to Corruptors, but the real difference is just that RoA does about 25% more base damage at a cost of about 33% more endurance. That's how it looks on Blasters today, with no crit chances.

There won't be much you can do about the greater scourge capability of RoA when it goes to Corruptors. That's just how psaudo-pet attacks work, and I could live with that if Full Auto at least did the same damage, even if it had to have its endurance cost raised to match. If Full Auto worked like most cones did vs. sphere-AoEs, it would do MORE damage than RoA, not less. It has a smaller max target cap, as do most all cones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    RoA and scourge...yummy.

The "devs screwed villains" thing gets old. Especially when heroes get a whack set like Electric Armor.

What is wrong with that? I thought that was the point of having ignite over build up?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ranged blast sets don't have Build Up. They never have. You likely mean Aim. (And actually, I think Ignite is the replacement for a third ST blast - the trade-off is Aim for Flamethrower.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I see what you saying.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
When you say combined, what do you mean exactly? If you mean that spamming Ignite did more ST dmg than any other atk in the set then I agree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I mean just standing there using nothing but Ignite can, over the course of say 30 seconds, deal more damage to a target than someone using AR's other powers without Ignite.

Again, using the older Mids copy:
You could fire off Ignite every 7s (3s recharge + 4s animation). So 4 times in 30s. Unenhanced, that's 1112.4 damage.

Running an unenhanced attack chain (one aimed to fill the 30s, preference given to higher DPS attacks) only comes out to 891.5 damage.

Feel free to run your own numbers if you think I miscalculated, but really - I don't think I made any unjustified assumptions. Ignite as it was was a wonderful tool, balanced around that it was tough to keep the target inside the patch. The moment you started hanging around with anybody who had an immob or consistent KD, it became probably the highest damaging power in the game. And while that's not as common for corruptors, every blaster has a power that can do that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What is wrong with that? I thought that was the point of having ignite over build up?

This is why I refuse to dust off a lot of my AR blaster/corruptors. Looking forward to Archery corruptors.
  15. So far I have been breezing through content as dual blades. Slotting up accuracy is very important for dual blades, but it is easy to do with IO's. I open up with combos, but then do not even bother with using them unless there is a pesky single target (attack vitals).

The issue with DB's is that if you do not take all the attacks you will not be able to pull off sweep (skipping ablating strike) or attack vitals (skipping either of the first two attacks) as an example. Still you can choose which fits your playstyle.

    Orly?

    Arch/TA corruptor sounds fun!
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Well, im still working on this in MIDS on my free time, still have to see something I like... At least someone can suggest which combo to forfeit? Though I heard that combos arent /that/ neccesary with stalkers vs other DBers. *keeps browsing and bulding*

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can play DB's without combos, but I find that some of the combos are useful. Attack Vitals I find very useful as the added dot damage adds up, and can be used outside of hide effectively. Sweep is actually underrated (probably my most favorite), but it requires you to be in hide, use build up, assassin strike, and ablating strike. If assassin strike/ablating strike misses the combo fails. At least with attack vitals you can start the chain again with ease if there is a miss. Empower uses build up/ assassin strike as well so you have to make a choice between it, and sweep. More often than not sweep is more useful. Empower also requires the use of placate so I find that is the least used combo for my play style. I am able to use all three combos because I have taken all the attacks thus far. If you do not take all the attacks you may not be able to use either sweep or attack vitals. I am leveling still, but I will eventually try the fourth combo.

DB stalkers...? I gave up already. A long time ago.

    AE for PvP

Sounds interesting! And they already put in AE into the game so it is possible.

If you want to talk about failure to understand things I recall a thread where you had no idea how to create a good short arc and figured you could just do w/e you did in a long arc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Memory like a steel sieve. The question was specifically whether writing a short arc used a completely different set of skills than writing a long arc. My position then and now is that while short arcs and long arcs prioritize different things sometimes, there exists no skill that you can use in a short arc that you cannot use to similar effect in a long arc, which means the total skill set you can bring to bear on a long arc is a superset of the one you can use to author a short arc. Which is just another way of saying short arcs don't use any unique skills.

That's not a debatable opinion. Its logically impossible to be false, since its always possible to write a long arc that is an anthological sum of multiple short arcs. I can always take the product of any short arc writer and include it in a longer arc. This should be another one of those trivially simple concepts to understand, given that all it requires is a fundamental understanding of what a "superset" is.

This is why your particular judgements aren't especially troubling to me. The effort it would take to be sufficiently wrong to be in agreement with you is never going to be worth the cost of being that wrong. Its just an unavoidable writeoff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think my head just exploded.
  21. I do not see a lot of dual blades stalkers so I made one.
  22. Re-roll?

I will give it a try, but ( since I am using dual blades as a primary) it looks like I will be relying on a lot of hit and run it seems. >.>

And if I make it to 50 with it you and I will be both surprised!
  23. I just started an /elec armor stalker. Do not scare me like that.
