I could, but I do like this character for lots of variety. The energy resist means she is nearly immune to Rikti even with her crap slotting. The energy damage is great against CoT ethereals and Banished Pantheon.
I know I need to put in gloom because it's the best ST attack and electric is very ST weak.
But mostly it's my armors I have questions on. Which ones to slot and how much. -
One thing that I have found helps my tanks and defenders is to play very, very low level arcs and be sure bosses are turned ON.
A level 1 boss has 108 HP, a level 2 has 122
A level 1 Lieut has 73hp, a level 2 has 81
Very small difference and yet bosses are worth much more than double the exp of a lieutenant. At low levels they don't really have the nasty powers either.
Look for things like the sewer run clones and other fixed at level 1-5 arcs, turn on bosses and go. If you avoid the custom critters and allies there are missions that still give full exp.
However if you find them boring then the best thing is to try and create your own. But I recommend using the above setup as much as possible. It will make things a lot easier on your low-damage characters. Kind of frustrating if you like your fancy powers, but it is much faster. -
Quote:Veats have an early mission that unlocks a costume slot. And there are the same tailor missions as everyone else. Plus Halloween salvage.Wow, thay's something I never new about not having gotten a villain past 35 (after almost 5 years, I finally hit my first 50 a couple months ago and started playing with Khleds, and I mostly play blueside). How does this 6th slot unlock, in the off chance that it actually does happen one day, and that my failing memory doesnt forget what was discussed here?

Quote:I actually sell all recipes and salvage on the market not because it is convenient, but because it destroys Inf. Some of the junk recipes I know will never sell even at 1 inf, I will vendor, but if I can move it, I will. Maybe someone else will buy it and vendor it, creating only 90% of the inf that I could have, or maybe they'll craft with it and destroy 110% of the inf. Either way, it is a win for the economy and I get inf out of it.This method will never be completely defunct due to the simple fact that it's easier to just dump stuff in the market than it is to vendor it, especially if you are trying to get the market badges or you're going to the market to make a purchase anyways.
This works for everyone involved. The person dumping the recipes gets rid of junk that they'd probably just delete otherwise and the buyer gets a nice little chunk of money. I don't see anyone becoming an "Ebil Marketeer" off of just this method, but if you need some inf to get a couple enhancers, this is a great way to do it.
So my generic recipes all go on the market. -
It's rare to see someone look quite that menacing while drinking tea. I think it's the way he holds the saucer with his fingertips and not his hand.
and in the immortal words of Cheech Marin from Ghostbusters: "Well, better late than never!" -
Quote:But don't you see that decision IS a tactical decision. Any time you have to make choices like that, you are playing tactically.I understand what you're saying, but that seems to be a rather strange design decision. It forces me as the player to choose between:
a.) AS a high priority target like a Sapper or Surgeon
or
b.) AS a target that will survive so I can demoralize a spawn
I would think that it would be better to encourage players to play tactically than to attack the tankiest target =/ -

Yup, I can tweak individual powers and give general advice, but on whole builds I still need help myself =). I saw yours and thought it was time to dust off mine too.

Quote:Well, this isn't really a build per-se, this is just a quick list of where the character is right now. I have no idea how I got there. The character is over 16 months old and only mid-30s so you can imagine I'm not terribly familiar with it.<QR>
I... I don't know where to start.
I mean that too, and not to be mean or rude, I simply don't know where to start.
You ask for help (which is a good thing) but it's nearly impossible to tell how you're slotted. Saying you have X amount of Y set slotted doesn't give enough information on just exactly WHAT ones you have slotted. I can't tell how much Acc, Dam, End Reduct or Rech you actually have since specific enhancements (and their levels) aren't listed.
At the time I had no idea how builds worked. Someone gave me the advice to "start by making sure each power worked on its own" so what I did was look through what sets drops, what was capable of being put into a power, and just getting as many from those sets as I could into powers that could take them. There was no thought farther than that. Now I know a bit better, but really my build-skills are very sad. So sad that it is more like "near-suicidal with grief". I figured the actual %s were not as relevant as the fact that the character has no focus and maybe the sets would help find focus.
Quote:However, I will point out some things I see and help out where I can. I am nowhere near the best source for build help, but there are basics that are easy enough (even for me) to grasp.
Quote:You don't have Acrobatics, but I see you have the full Steadfast Protection set which gives you at least 4 points of KB protection. If you are using Hover as a workaround for getting KB'd either slot a fly speed in Hover so you'll move around somewhat faster, an End Reduct so it uses less end or if you're lucky/rich enough put in the Blessing of the Zypher or Karma KB protect IO. Since Hover is currently empty, any of those will be a plus.
Quote:Fly speed caps these days with 1 or even possibly 2 SO fly speed enhancements. Add a fly speed enhancement to Swift and I think with the 1 in Fly you'll be capped, or at least really close, saving 2 slots from Fly.
Quote:You have 4 slots in Stamina. Unless one of them happens to be the Performance Shifter +End Proc, you've wasted a slot there as well. Slotting anything past 3 SO's (or the equivalent) is a waste.
Quote:Your shields seem under slotted as well, but it's difficult to say for sure. No, I take that back, I can say with absolute certainty that Plasma Shield at least is under slotted since the KB protection IO gives no damage resist bonus.
Quote:Those are just the things I can see right off. I can't say what build would be good for you since everyone likes something different. Perhaps someone else will come who has a little more knowledge than I and can give a build example.
I hope that I've helped and I truly hope I didn't come off as rude or condescending, as that was not my intent.
On play style, I play more like a brute than a scrapper. I will occasionally rush a mob when some of my toggles are still down and I have little to no end, in the assumption that someone will kill something and I *might* either get a blue or something I can combine into a blue, before the mob kills me. If not, I usually have a wakie. I'm more about killing them before they kill me, but Rise of the Pheonix is pretty much going to be mandatory for this one. =) -
I have, but I have no idea what order I took the powers in. Since I'm looking for a new build that bit's not terribly relevant though I guess is it? =) The real trick is that I don't know what I'm doing with builds. In general I just look through the set bonuses, find some I like in the categories the power can take, and try to get as many from that set as I can fit into the power.
That's basically the extent of my "build planning" skills. So, nearly all my characters need extraordinary amounts of build help of the kind that sucker punch's just can't give. Mids would help I've been told. But it doesn't exist for me so not an option. -
You definitely went for too much +hp on some of those choices. Also, with Energize you shouldn't be taking Aid Self. Slot for Recharge instead.
I'd say aim for S/L defense and recharge with anything else you pickup along the way as gravy. You'll almost always get some AoE and Ranged. But so many attacks have S/L built in, that this is a great start.
Charged Armor, I'd go with 5 Titanium Coating and the Steadfast Resist 3%.
Move one from haste to conductive shield and use reactive armor.
Move two from health to Static Shield and 5-slot Titanium coating. Keep your two uniques and the Numina's Health. Move one other to tough.
Stamina should get Performance Shifter. with 4 slots all P'Formance is the most recovery you can squeeze out. For 3 slots going proc & End Mod with a generic 50 endmod is 90% as effective. Eficiency Adapter is significantly lower.
Energize, with 6 slots you'd want 5x doctored wounds and 1 recharge IO, but you should be fine without the last slot.
Lightning rod looks ok, but I'd check the percentages in Mids, you might be better off with the eradication proc in it. If you're over 98% damage, then the odds are at least one of those damage IOs isn't helping and the proc would do more.
Gloom is the highest damage attack you have access to period. Slot it for damage and work it into your chain.
Personally, I'd drop Aid Other and Aid Self. Go with combat jumping, move slots there from Aid Self (which you should ditch). Either 5x red fortune for the recharge or if you have the money some Luck of the Gambler (specifically the Recharge % and then any more you want for the bonuses, usually at least the +Def). If you want, keep super speed for the stealth, or swap it for super jump. But combat jump + SS is a very strong choice. You might want hurdle rather than swift in this case, but I find I still like swift for when I'm in combat with SS turned off.
Darkest Night is very, very good. I'd get it instead of Aid Other. -
So, I'm looking to burn my freespec before I17 gives me a new one that won't stack. I've got a junky build that I have no idea what to do with. I'd just been sticking in what dropped and filling out sets because back when I played this character I didn't know that actually having a goal with set bonuses was a good idea. =)
I still have no idea what to do with her. Anyway, here's what she's sporting. I would like to keep fly for the travel power, and I prefer fast activating powers so I'm thinking of dropping fire breath unless it's decent as a set mule. She's currently mid-30s which is why this isn't finished.

No Mids for macs so I apologize for the messiness of the below. It is a mostly empty second build I'm looking to turn into a farming build. Will mostly go against rikti, but would also like to try to go after Cimerorans. Currently only leveled up to 45 but it's actually the unused second build on a level 50.
Charged Brawl: 6xtouch of death
Havoc Punch: Crushing Impactx5, 1 empty
Buildup 2 recharge

Only restriction is no pvp ios, but I'm open to nearly anything else and I have no preferences on patron pools or anything else.
thanks in advance! -
Quote:With Generics you are better than a level 50 SO using a level 30 IO. You are superior to a level 53 SO using a level 35.I tend to do generic IOs at around 32 based on advice from a friend, is it better to do it at 22 instead, then?
Using the dirt-cheap sets you are superior to a level 53 SO using a level 24 Dual or a level 20 triple. So you might as well slot any decent level 24+ dual or 20+ triple and go with generics at 30 or 35.
By dirt-cheap I'm talking pulverizing fisticuffs, multistrike, serendipity etc.

That's what I need, but without the formatting. Does anyone know what version to export for the forums?
-
Do EB's have the chance to drop Pool C or only regular bosses? I think I asked this once before but even searching my own posts I couldn't find the answer.

I'll pass on my advice for leveling. You have two builds now and every 10 minutes you can visit a trainer to swap between them. For now, just pretend you only have one. As you level up, follow Fulmens advice about slotting.
Visit the Brute forums or use Mids and get yourself a nice customized level 50 build that costs about three times more money than you think you can afford.
Once you hit 50, swap to your second. This will be totally empty and level 1. Now, pick the powers and slots based on that ideal level 50 build. Play with your primary build while earning money and sets to fill out the second. This way, you always have a fully functional build, and once you're done you can use the primary build for taskforces and oroboros arcs and exemplaring down to help friends, but you have your Uber build for when you're up at 50 which is where I suspect you'll play most of the time.
This strategy has served me very well. -

While they all have ranged attacks, not all of the ranges are far enough for PvP.
Also, you don't want to use group fly because of the enormous -accuracy penalty it gives you. -
Can you post that in long-form? Mids doesn't exist for the Mac.
Thanks! -
I had a council mission where if I angled the camera overhead looking down at my character I could see through walls. Came in handy while looking for the last kidnap victim. =)
I've had Steamy Mist cause NPCs to start following enemies. This was particularly gratifying on Gaussian's arc when WM Detrich started following the enemy and I got to beat her down. I so wish she was killed instead of Tendaji.
In AE it happens fairly often that leaving a mission you appear inside the mission entrance column. I always like that one. -
Start a new character. Honestly this game is very different from most MMOs. It is not about endgame content, though there is some. It is more about the journey and the stories along the way.
As for end-game content, the biggies are the mothership raids and hami raids. Some of the more difficult task forces like Lord Recluse, Statesman, Lady Gray, and Reichsman. If you're on a hero there is the Shadow Shard to explore.
Many people use Oroboros and teaming to go back and do missions they missed on the way to 50.
There is badge hunting and farming for Purple IOs.
If you're into PvP you can check out Recluse's Victory.
