Fire/Fire Needs Help
<QR>
I... I don't know where to start.
I mean that too, and not to be mean or rude, I simply don't know where to start.
You ask for help (which is a good thing) but it's nearly impossible to tell how you're slotted. Saying you have X amount of Y set slotted doesn't give enough information on just exactly WHAT ones you have slotted. I can't tell how much Acc, Dam, End Reduct or Rech you actually have since specific enhancements (and their levels) aren't listed.
However, I will point out some things I see and help out where I can. I am nowhere near the best source for build help, but there are basics that are easy enough (even for me) to grasp.
You don't have Acrobatics, but I see you have the full Steadfast Protection set which gives you at least 4 points of KB protection. If you are using Hover as a workaround for getting KB'd either slot a fly speed in Hover so you'll move around somewhat faster, an End Reduct so it uses less end or if you're lucky/rich enough put in the Blessing of the Zypher or Karma KB protect IO. Since Hover is currently empty, any of those will be a plus.
Fly speed caps these days with 1 or even possibly 2 SO fly speed enhancements. Add a fly speed enhancement to Swift and I think with the 1 in Fly you'll be capped, or at least really close, saving 2 slots from Fly.
You have 4 slots in Stamina. Unless one of them happens to be the Performance Shifter +End Proc, you've wasted a slot there as well. Slotting anything past 3 SO's (or the equivalent) is a waste.
Your shields seem under slotted as well, but it's difficult to say for sure. No, I take that back, I can say with absolute certainty that Plasma Shield at least is under slotted since the KB protection IO gives no damage resist bonus.
Those are just the things I can see right off. I can't say what build would be good for you since everyone likes something different. Perhaps someone else will come who has a little more knowledge than I and can give a build example.
I hope that I've helped and I truly hope I didn't come off as rude or condescending, as that was not my intent.

At the time I had no idea how builds worked. Someone gave me the advice to "start by making sure each power worked on its own" so what I did was look through what sets drops, what was capable of being put into a power, and just getting as many from those sets as I could into powers that could take them. There was no thought farther than that. Now I know a bit better, but really my build-skills are very sad. So sad that it is more like "near-suicidal with grief". I figured the actual %s were not as relevant as the fact that the character has no focus and maybe the sets would help find focus.
However, I will point out some things I see and help out where I can. I am nowhere near the best source for build help, but there are basics that are easy enough (even for me) to grasp. |

On play style, I play more like a brute than a scrapper. I will occasionally rush a mob when some of my toggles are still down and I have little to no end, in the assumption that someone will kill something and I *might* either get a blue or something I can combine into a blue, before the mob kills me. If not, I usually have a wakie. I'm more about killing them before they kill me, but Rise of the Pheonix is pretty much going to be mandatory for this one. =)

On Fire/Fire what are the best choices for AoE damage? I'm not happy with Fire breath, so it's looking like Sword Circle + is there anything in the epics? Or am I really just piling on the recharge for sword circle?

I tried messing with something in the online builder. Some export bug is screwing with the build a tad. Buildup is empty because a bug won't let me put Gaussian's in it.
Any advice? Did I totally screw something up with the set bonuses? Best recommendations for fitting in Rise of the pheonix (concept power) or where to pull a slot to add some speed to fly? Worth moving powers around?

I too have a respec to use and a level 50 Fire/Fire with whom I am not happy with.. Strange thing is I was a ton happier with her when I built for acc, recharge, and endurance.
Since I got the fighting pool, and some defense bonuses, she feels, different...sort of fragile instead of stronger as you would think she would be.
I am tempted to use my respec, and my second build, and make her the pure resistance based toon the Devs designed her to be..and which is how I leveled her to begin with.
Anyways, as I am sure a lot of people are going point this out, Melt Armor is something you can happily exchange for Rise of The Phoenix...which is more than a concept power....it is a must have....in my book at least
Good luck

Do you use Mids Hero Builder? That would help out a lot if we could see something you have in mind and then go from there with modifications. It is a very important tool around here.
Resistance is futile, but when you add Defense on top of it you get something that will withstand even the Borg. (Yes, really. I just said that.) What I like to do is add Melee Defense to my Fire/Fire/Fire. If you're good at coaxing enemies to go into melee instead of shooting it out at you, you can become very survivable and incredibly destructive. Here is my build with Fire Sword Circle and Fireball. Your very own nuke when you've got Build Up and Fiery Embrace up.

I'm on a Mac so Mids doesn't exist for me. Can you post that out longform? My only tool is suckerpunch's online planner.
Thank you!
Also, how well do you find melee over S/L working out? I know with the resist-based sets it is pretty easy to go either way, though Melee does come in bigger chunks, it takes more slots.

Drats. Lets get those guys that brought over CoH to the Mac to port over Mids as well.
Melee Defense is working out great for me, but I've heard in general S/L will have a little bit more survivability. Obviously that changes in Melee Defense's favor when what you're fighting can be brought into melee and kept there. Either way, it'll do great to bolster Fiery Aura's survivability. There are other ways of course, like getting enough global Recharge to make Healing Flames come up faster.

Interesting slotting on healing flames. Nice to see something other than doctored wounds all the time. Heh.
Swapping hover and fly for combat jump and super jump is pretty straightforward.
But which of the later ones to pull for rise of the pheonix?

Good point, Pheonix doesn't really need much slotting.
Kind of a shame to lose the end help from consume but it looks like that's more of a help than a crutch.
Thank you!

In general, people dislike the matching power sets across all archetypes. More people want to mix and match. Combine that with Fire/ being top damage and /fire being squishy and you won't see a whole lot of them.

Hrm. Wonder if there is a way to get good S/L Defense while having Fireball still decently slotted.

You get more end/second out of stamina if you run the perf shifter proc +endmod +emdmod than if you go three endmods.
You can pull one recharge out of buildup and put it in health and go with either numinas, or miracle unique plus heal, or both uniques.
Can swap one of the heal/recharge in healing flames for the miracle heal/rech/end and get the recovery set bonus there.
Those would help a touch.

Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
Also, there's only 4 red fortunes in weave, so you're not getting any important set bonus there. Swap to Gift of Ancients Def/End, Def/End/Rchg (2% recovery), and Kismet Accuracy, Def/End (recovery 1.5%) you'll get better defense and end reduction into Weave, plus 3.5% recovery and the accuracy IO.
Also, since you're never going to use Fireblast for the damage, and the t-strikes aren't giving you anything, might as well move those two slots somewhere useful. for instance, two extra slots puts Gaussians into buildup. You lose 0.5% S/L defense, but gain A LOT of other bonuses in the trade off.
Putting Oblit into Consume gives you better recharge and nets you 1% more S/L def, and really, you don't care about the end cost of consume anyhow. Unlike blazing aura where I'd keep the multistrike.
You're never going to use Greater Firesword to attack (if you do you're only reducing your damage output) so it's just a setmule for Kinetic Combat. Pull two slots. Use them to turn one reactive armor into Titanium coating. That's 1.5% HP AND an extra .25% S/L defense, plus higher total resist on whichever power you use.
Of course, if we argue about this long enough, Umbral or Fury or one of the others will eventually show up with a build that can solo two GMs at once with infinite endurance. But hey, it's all good.
Detonation isn't really giving you much. Go Posi's in Fireball unless you can swap up to purples there. That's another 2% recovery, plus recharge and accuracy.

I actually made a few changes to my Fire/Fire last night, getting him pretty close to the build I posted above. Main difference is I don't have the Obliteration set yet, and am just using Multistrikes in FSC. So I only have 39.25% def to smash and lethal instead of 40%.
I ran several missions on an 8 man team last night. Holy cow, I was tougher than the tank! Malta, Family, and Freakshow were complete jokes. I was generally going 1 direction by myself, or maybe with a brave blaster while the other 6 or 7 teammates were heading their own direction. I think generally fighting 52's for an 8 man team while I was 50. Something I definitely couldn't have done before. Endurance wasn't even a problem last night as it had been on my Fire/Fire before. I think I'm running around 1.15 end/sec, and all my attacks have about 60% end reduction in them.
Now the Hydra things that hit you with toxic damage are still a pain in the **** and we had to use actual teamwork for those.
But outside of that, I felt incredibly strong on my fire/fire.
Good thing I picked up 4/5 sets of Kinetic Combat back when AE was all the rage. They're expensive now. Also lucky that the last set I needed went into boxing, so I really didn't care about the level of the enhancements or what they were actually enhancing. I just put 4 of the cheapest ones I could find in there, lots of level 20's. I'd say that set was close to 50mil.
Yup, if you're just set muling might as well use the proc and any random off-level you can find cheap.
Also, I find that while waiting, I can get smashing haymaker in easily, reliably and cheaply as a placeholder. Not as good, but better than nothing.
With kinetic combat, sometimes it's not the price that's the issue but availability.

So I've put this together. Kind of hijacking the thread to see what others think of the build I put together for myself.
It has 90% of what I want out of a Fire/Fire/Fire, plus the numbers for Melee Defense and Smashing/Lethal are reversed now so that the latter is near soft-capped. I could get 1.2% more for Smashing/Lethal Defense if I swap out Consume for Confront and put Perfect Zinger in there, but I kind of want to keep Consume in there to combat any endurance drain/debuff I may encounter. Would that 1.2% make a world of difference, or can I go with Consume? Here is the build:

Greater fire sword is really just a set mule. You won't be using it, so either trade the power for blazing aura with oblits, or pull the mako's.
Put the slots into plasma shield, tough, or fire shield and get one set of Titanium Armor. Health bonus plus more S/L than Reactive Armor gives.
On Healing flames, pull the harmonized healing and doctored wounds and instead do the heal/rech from Miracle and Numina. Slightly better up times and you get nice set bonuses. Really the end isn't so bad on healing flames.
I would use the reticle tohit/recharge instead of perception. Unless this is for PvP, which I don't think it is. Then I'd move one slot from build up to fireball and go with 5 posi's.

Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
I won't be using Greater Fire Sword? Are you kidding me? [Edit] Ohhh, I see. You're talking about attack chain, huh? Never been interested in that honestly. I use whatever is up, and if the big hitter is up I'll use that over the small ones.
Titanium Armor is the same amount of Smashing/Lethal Defense bonus. Moving two slots for only one set, just to get 20hp isn't going to have much impact on the character.
I could see going with the Healing Flames change, but either way seems like an insignificant change.
I'm more interested in covering a hole that Fiery Aura has with the Perception bonus. Enhancing the ToHit is a mere side effect of getting the set bonus I want.
Thanks for the feedback.

Anybody else care to weigh in? C'mon, this set has to be more played than this.

So, I'm looking to burn my freespec before I17 gives me a new one that won't stack. I've got a junky build that I have no idea what to do with. I'd just been sticking in what dropped and filling out sets because back when I played this character I didn't know that actually having a goal with set bonuses was a good idea. =)
I still have no idea what to do with her. Anyway, here's what she's sporting. I would like to keep fly for the travel power, and I prefer fast activating powers so I'm thinking of dropping fire breath unless it's decent as a set mule. She's currently mid-30s which is why this isn't finished.
