  1. It's potentially a ridiculously high DPA attack if an enemy stays in it for the whole duration.

I didn't realize that either. I have a map I farm solo on one of my 50s because it's the most productive thing I can do when none of my friends are online, but I didn't know that SG PL-fests still happened.

Try to go for someone who can deal a lot of damage and/or can debuff or use hard controls (stuns/holds). Make sure they have a good travel power. Super speed/jump is good for just about anyone, fly is not suggested for melee people, and teleport is nice for escaping but not for chasing.

So basically, blasters/dominators/corruptors are good (since corruptors are kill stealers and getting the final hit is what matters for points), melee characters are good as long as they can move fast to keep up with people, and I wouldn't suggest trying a defender/controller/mastermind as only certain powerset combinations of those can be effective, and even then a FFA format doesn't favor them.
  4. Fire Minded's terrible grammar makes me want to disagree with him as a knee-jerk reaction, but I have to agree with him at least partially since a reputation discussion is a really lame threadjack.

Drones don't work the way you think they do. Drones never actually cast a debuff power on enemies, so it doesn't matter how they're destroyed. They purposefully run up to enemies and self destruct, and there's an area debuff that occurs once they're destroyed, regardless of what caused them to be destroyed.
  6. Re: Time bomb.

It's a toy power really. There's pretty much no situation in which you'll be more effective because you have it, though it might be fun to use sometimes.

Toxic rounds are for AV fights. You can stack around 25-37.5% damage debuffing on a single target if you go out of your way for it. Pair it with dark miasma and you're a winner. For reducing the damage of regular mobs your best bet is to use standard ammo and spam bullet rain for its 50% chance of knockdown.

Statements need to be false or at least not clearly true in order for them to incite rabid discussion.
  13. It would immediately check once you -activated the power-, and then every ten seconds after that. It doesn't keep a separate timer on each enemy.

It depends on if you would rather have power build up or dark consumption, both of which offer some effective synergy with other powers that are available to you.

Dark consumption would let you to use blackstar, pop a blue inspiration, and then use dark consumption to refill your endurance.

Power build up would allow you to increase the power of your heals for a few seconds, or drastically increase the power of fortitude or vengeance if you used them together.

It's a question of playstyle. If you choose dark consumption, you'll be able to use blackstar every time it's available as long as you have an endurance inspiration in your tray. With power build up, you'll only be using blackstar in emergencies. I would suggest taking both blackstar and vengeance either way, and if it were me I would choose power build up.
  15. Here's a cheap IO build if you decide to go for sets. As cheap as I could get it while still using sets anyway. I switched the build over to power mastery since power build up synergizes very well with a number of powers in the build like the heals, fortitude, vengeance, and blackstar (this thing goes up to a 124% to-hit debuff, as if it wasn't huge enough already).

Please ignore the level at which I took powers.

EDIT: I realized that my slotting of stamina is on the expensive side. That would need to be changed.

... yeah, I'm thinking a Dark/Psi might be very, very nasty.
To-hit debuffs work well, recharge debuffs kind of work, damage types are meaningless in most situations, and fear is of no help.

Dark miasma is terrible as a pvp set. Cold domination isn't nearly as good as it used to be, while radiation is difficult to work with but is still workable. Storm summoning is probably all around the best defender primary for pvp since it's usable solo and is the best in a team environment.
  17. Not completely on topic, but if you really can run +3X8 against most enemy groups with a fiery aura tanker then I now how extreme self confidence issues.
  18. Can't go wrong with a full set of blood mandate for a load of defense. If you want recharge instead of defense or you're low on slots, you could do this instead.

    Level 26: Voltaic Sentinel
    • (A) Expedient Reinforcement - Accuracy/Damage
    • (27) Expedient Reinforcement - Damage/Endurance
    • (27) Expedient Reinforcement - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge
    • (29) Expedient Reinforcement - Endurance/Damage/Recharge
  19. The green sphere next to powers determines whether it's on or not. In the build I put up, lightning storm has a recharge time of 45.8s when hasten is off and 33.8s when it's on. Mids isn't capable of determining average recharge time based on how often hasten is capable of being on if that's what you're looking for.
  20. I suggest this.

  21. ::raises hand::

When we go up against mother mayhem's minions, I usually have to tank using mind over body and a whole lot of knockback.
  22. You actually weren't defense capped (unless I missed something) so I suggest this.

It has 44.3% melee, 45.6% ranged, 45.9% area, and 57.5% recharge.

I think the old build was going to have serious endurance issues, so I replaced oppressive gloom with dark consumption and added some endurance reduction in a couple things. I also did something completely different with acid mortar. It takes advantage of procs very well.

As for whether or not shout would reduce your damage output, I'm not sure on that. With enough recharge, it's ideal to chain shriek and scream back to back, but I don't know at what point that becomes ideal. I've done the numbers on the chains including shout and electric fence though. Either way, I think you should keep the power because of its set bonuses.

  23. In an AV fight, storm summoners become damage dealers. If you consider them to be extremely long DoTs instead of pets, I believe that tornado has the best DPA in the game and lightning storm has the second highest damage per use. Any well built storm summoner should be able to duo most AVs without complications.
  24. You guys are on virtue? Is it the same name over there?
