I think most people have playstyles that they work with better than others - I don't like bruting much, but my Fire/Psi/Soul is quite a monster, imho.
I prefer running doms over controllers primarily because of the domination factor (mez resist FTW!). I have a fire/rad but get aggravated when after getting mez'd, I lose my hot feet, choking cloud, any rad debuffs, etc all at once....gets old.
My Dom is IO'd out pretty hard and has some good resistance and decent def, and while he can't take the damage that a brute can, throwing in flashfire/firecages/Psi shockwave with a few flaming monkeys, a little drain psyche and soul drain does the job for nice clustered mobs to where I rarely have to worry about being too damaged, unless I get crazy or something.
I run at +2/x7 generally and he does pretty well. To each his own, but it's certainly doable if you enjoy the Dom playstyle. -
Definitely more set for team assistance and support - he's got virtually no damage output, so it's all to assist and buff.
Thanks for the input -
What's the best bang for buck for such a set - I'm sitting on shards, notices and parts, but just can't decide what's best.
-
I have a Fire/Psi (50), Fire/Fire (23) and Elec/Elec (30) doms.
Of all of them, my Elec is the 'safest'. With the mitigation tools like perma sleep (and the sleep is AWESOME), chain confuse, holds, immobs and the ongoing End drain, it is just a really good control set.
Damage is not the best, but the mitigation tools pretty much allow you to move at your own pace. It's a single target set, for assault, for the most part.
I'm enjoying mine greatly. -
Thanks for the info - at least one other person on the same TF as I was posted there too. I have reposted there. Thanks
-
Finished the STF (same team as some of the others from Victory) - put together my third tier and armed it before getting DC'd from the Task Force.
When I relogged, my second tier was slotted (third did not exist) and I no longer had my Notice of the Well.
Asked on the Vic forum and was told this is a known issue, but couldn't find info on it. Anyone run into a solution or should I just wait for the /petition response?
Thanks -

Yes - I see I can actually get a better recharge rate if I swap a purple set, like my hold set for Basilisk - will actually increase recharge rate - although I am enjoying some of the other perks of the purple!
Main question at this point in time, I guess, is as far as the incarnates go - is the + recharge doing anything for me or am I pretty much as capped as I can be on speed - the +stun of the incarnate is nice for the fire set, but I wonder if extra damage may be more beneficial in the grand scheme?
I'm not sure how all the numbers work anymore. -
Just wanted to say hey to everyone. Been back a few weeks now and have enjoyed teaming up with old and new friends (and Hamster too).
Good to see you all, and nice to see the server doing well.
toodles -
I am no mathematician, but I can tell from Mid's that I have probably 'overdone' my build...I love Mr. Bo - he and I have shared many wonderful sessions together, but I think in my pursuit of purple, I may have missed some good opportunities.
I have the second tier incarnate slot for Recharge/Stun on top of this build - I am back from a long break and am interested in seeing exactly how many slots I'm wasting and to find out if slotting for the +recharge on my toon is really even worth it - considering swapping for damage.
Some of the one slotted powers were just put in there due to the new fitness inherent, although I do like smoke!
Thanks in advance

My fire/psi is my main toon and used as a farmer or not, is a pretty devastating offensive machine, and to be honest, although I can tell a slight slowdown in farming from pre-nerf/fix levels, in really hasn't slowed me down that much at all.
-
@ Celt here
If I am able, I will join as well...I'll keep an eye open on the Vic channel and see if there are openings if I am able! -
Don't know if I'm posting in the right place, as it's been a LONG time since I've been on the forums and they've changed.
75 month Vet badge is nifty for some - but looking forward to something a bit more monumental for ALL -
A bonus slot
Yep - something like that - new slot that can be placed wherever on your toon from lvl 1.
Another idea around the same idea - trading in a power choice for 2-3 slots.
I'm extremely thankful for the Devs hearing what was being discussed several years back with the inherit fitness pool - that leaves me a few options on my toons for new powers, but in some sets, I really have no additions that I want to make...but I COULD use some more slots to give me more versatility and such with existing powers!
Just throwing out a thought - maybe that would be too difficult to do, I don't know, but I really like the idea and think that it gives us more ability to fine tune our characters!
that's all...
toodles -
I'm sure this has been posted before, but I would like to be able to do much more intensive and fun story arcs.
I know there are options to buy more slots, but will there ever be an option to buy 'bigger' slots to do bigger AE arcs?
I like the custom critters - they are the death of me -
I have a 50 Fire/Psi who is completely IO'd out with huge end bonuses, accolades, 2 end recovery powers, the works.
Most of the changes that have happened with the doms I have been pleased with overall, or can deal with, but I think the end cost overhaul is a bit drastic.
I realize my playstyle is fast and furious, and that plays into the end cost, but I can only imagine what it would be like for a player who enjoys the fantic pace but doesn't have all the end bonuses that I have...to me, slowing down negates what a Dominator is. YMMV
So in summary, I would like to see some of the end costs scaled back, but otherwise, I think the changes are fine. -
I'll see if I can talk the Mrs into joining you if she is around. She'd probably like that
-
No, I don't specific remember those issues because they were not ones that I had and I did not have my Vista computer until a few months ago.
When I got my new computer, I would have the NVLDDwhatever crash usually a couple times a playing day, which was aggravating enough. Having it happen a couple times an hour on both our machines since I-14 is unacceptable for me.
That is why I posted my CoH and HiJack this info, in case I'm missing something obvious. I'm not a techie. I just like to play the game. -
Yeah, I'm spending more time rebooting the game than playing it. My information is a few posts above. After 51 months on the game, and dealing off and on with various tech issues, this is by far the most annoying and hampering to me. I'm hopeful that someone on the tech side is evaluating and trying to get an official fix for this soon.
thx -

Running dual Athlon 6k, 4g ram, Nvidia 9600GT. NVLDMMwhatever it is errors since I got my computer a few months back. Tried hotfix - no luck. Increased crashes since I-14. Wife got new computer (similar setup to mine, except Athlon Phenom with 6 gig ram and Nvidia 9500) and having same issues. Very annoying, especially with how long it's been a known issue. Any ideas?

I didn't realize he couldn't post...I don't frequent the boards much anymore, but after about a mish into the TF, I asked how if I knew who he was, because his humor reminded me of Hamster.
That's the only reason I posted. What did he do to get the ban stick????
The TF went off beautiful, btw. I had never run Silver Mantis, so it was cool, and the merits ruled!
and yes, I'll take a T-Shirt!!!
