I've experience the same situations and flustations that you have. The problem for me is that I stick with it once it get's started. It's very extraordinary for me to quite a TF once started. I'll grin and bear it, but it ticks me off to no end for players who take the speed runs to the extreme when run the TF for the XP. And by extreme, I mean people who SJ/SS to and completing missions before the rest of the team can even reach the mission door.
But the thing to do upfront is to ask as they doing a speed run or a more normal run. If you don't want to do speed run, quit the TF before it gets started. Thankfully on Justice, more people are upfront about doing speed runs when they are looking for members. -

You're not misremembering, they just added the laser doors and moved the consoles behind them.
Too many people were wandering over to play with the consoles.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well they explains why I don't remember seeing the laser doors before. I though I was going senilel or something. OK not totally senile. -
[ QUOTE ]
I always thought binds ran backwards, or is that just for powers?
[/ QUOTE ]
That is the net result if you string multiple power activations in the same keybind/macro. They wind up activating in reverse order due to the way the powers systems works.. But the command parser reads things and does things in order from left to right. -
Resichman isn't in MA that I'm aware of. The only version of him that would be available is the Invincible Reichsman which is an AV and no EB version. It's not a suitable version for normal PvE missions.

Did you pull these numbers from the temp power on yourself? Because I recall having 10% res... (and if my memory's not faulty, that implies that it's based on AT modifiers, and probably the other temps as well)
[/ QUOTE ]
The numbers are what /info show on my SoA. Just posted them for comparison purposes. I assume AT modifiers are applicable.
[ QUOTE ]
Are you sure about those? From others' comments, it seems Mako's power is supposed to get you past the laser doors, and the glowies are what kills the 5th Column. I remember the Corruptor on our team dragged the Scirocco power to chat, and the description I recall only mentioned damage, and being more effective against restrained foes (just like the sand devils, tornado, and water spout actually are)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm going by my interpretation of what other players and misremebering what Castle posted on the I15 test boards, and my runs of the BSF. I guess my impressions of the Failsafe Backup were wrong. I though the consoles are what triggered it. And Castle posted about the Dust Devils, I though they auto defeat vs Held forces, instead there are just very strong vs Held foes.
Sorry for the wrong intrprertation of the info.
// And I wish that Sirocco temp power was available outside the SF. That is a wickedly cool sword. -
The Barracuda SF is a gimmick fight (or gadget fight as Castle put it). There are a quite a few gadgets and temp powers to make the fight much easier. But you don't need all of the Temp Powers. I completed the SF with 4 MMs, a Brute, and SoA and a Corruptor. And we never manages to activate the Failsafe Backup system. We had to brute force ourwya there the ambushes and Reichsman with much faceplanting.
And there are two different sets of Temp Powers you get from The Machine. First there is a set of passive auto from each Patron.
Power of Sirocco
You've drained the power from Sirocco increasing your resistance to Slows, Endurance Drain effects and also protects you from -Recovery effects. This effect will last for 30 minutes.
+20% RES to -SLOW, -RECH, and End Drain for 30 minutes
Power of Ghost Widow
You've stolen some of Ghost Widow's power, and by doing so you will benefit from a bonus to regeneration and resistance to To Hit debuffs This effect will last for 30 minutes.
+33% REGEN and +23.18% -TOHIT RES for 30 minutes
Power of Black Scorpion
You've defeated Black Scorpion and drained some of his power to increase your damage resistance, defense and resistance to defense debuffs for a short time. This effect will last for 30 minutes.
+6.7% RES to all damage, +6.7% DEF for 30 minutes
Power of Captain Mako
Captain Mako has fallen to your schemes and you've siphoned a portion of his power, this will temporarily increase your damage and recharge rate. This effect will last for 30 minutes.
+6.7% DAM and +6.7% RECH for 30 minutes.
Secondly there is a set Temp Powers what a grant to each player depending on their AT.
Power of Black Scorpion (Special) Mastermind
Using the power absorbed from Black Scorpion, you can match Reichsmans dimensional phasing, eliminating his ability to become immune to your teams effects.
Note: Not sure of the effect, but is supposed to neutralize Reichman's dimensional phases periods.
Power of Ghost Widow (+Res (End Drain)) Brute/Arachnos Solder/Arachnos Widow
Using the power of Ghost Widow, you enable yourself and your allies to better resist Reichsman's oppressive aura.
Note: 80 ft AoE which grants 66% End Drain Res to teammates
Power of Captain Mako (Max Stealth) Stalkers
The Power of Mako has maximized your stealth potential, perhaps even enough to allow you to approach the Fail Safe devices.
Note: Grants capped stealth to all teammates (80 ft AoE)
Power of Scirocco (Special) Corrupters/Dominators
Using Sciroccos's Power grants you the ability to Hold or Kill all 5th Column enemies present.
Note: 80 ft AoE Mag 3 Hold and defates held targets and Summons Sand Devils which will kill any held target. -

Is it just me, or are the splash sounds subdued? Instead of jumping with a big splash, it sounds more like stepping through a puddle.

Your ears serve you well. Yes, water sound effects are different. In fact the entire soundscape has changed. Door opening sounds, movment sounds on various textures, etc. -
Welcome to the game. In addition to the other info, when you log into the game for the first. The game servers will listed in order of server load from small to heaviest log. Anytime after you first log in, the last server you logged into will be at the top of the list. Server load is only a *very* rough indication to player population.
Freedom is the server with the higher player population. But it can be full at time of special events (e.g. Double XP week-ends). Virtual is the next highest population and the unofficial role-playing server. Infinity and Justice are next in terms of player populations. And i tend to forget the order of the rest. -
For the record, you don't have to be level 40+ to buy a new Raptor Pack in Grandville. You just have to have to the 10K inf and survive getting there.

[/ QUOTE ]
That's why they have this:
http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/ser...er_status.html
UNKNOWN does not equal UP!
[/ QUOTE ]
UNKNOWN does means UP but shows less then 20 players logged in. The service status page show OPERATIONAL system. That is, are the servers running in a nominal state? However, the server status page does not indicate if is there is an some type of administrative lockout in place.
As a System Administrator myself, a lot of times, I will bring up servers to an operational status. But I will have users locked out until I can log in and verifiy the system, or do some admin stuff to grabs stats or data dumps. Once everything tests out ok, I open up the servers to the users. NcSoft does the same type of thing after an update. They patch the servers, bring them up to an operational status (i.e. status:UNKNOWN), but administratively lock users until they can run their post update testing. Once everything is verified, they remove the lock outs and let players log in. -

Come up with a stronger reason to hold the Arbiter title for something else and suggest an alternative badge title then.
Off the top of my head:
Arbiters are supposed to be above the Arachnos hierarchy, their loyalty to the organization beyond reproach.
[/ QUOTE ]
Arbiter's authority is beyond reproach. Their loyalty is what got them their position. Howeverr, their loyalty is not beyond reproach. As they watch over Arachnos, and Arachnos stares right back. The Arbiter themselves are untouchable. So everyone in Arachnos are going to watch them like hawks looking for any sign of weakness of betrayal of Arachnos. An rogue Arbiter will be turned in to gain rewards and favor from Arachnos.
Arbiter is a perfect fit for player Villains. The players are normally untouchable to an extent due to the Destined One program. After the climax of their story line, the players are untouchable due to their own power. The Arbiter title is just a continuation of that. If you mess with a Player Villain Arbiter, the player themselves will take you down before Arachnos can raise a finger. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sorry, not buying it. The characters in the SF stop Reichsmann for their own reasons, not for Arachnos and Recluse, and you certainly don't need the title to be safe from retribution. Most characters who run this will have already betrayed the patrons and they're still breathing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Everything about Arachnos is betrayal. It's Recluse's vision of "Survival of the Fitess". Everyone has a group that watches over them. Even the Arbiters themselves have their watchers: everyone else in Arachnos.
Players have been wanting their villains to be more, well villainous. The writers listened to players complaints about the dialog with Recluse in the Barracua TF. The new dialog treats the villains with more respect instead of lapdogs. The Arbiter badge/title does introduce soon unique writting oppurtunites for future content combined with the new mission tech the devs have talked about. Writers can give players more dialog of the players being part of the power elite on the Rogue Isles. -
Any addition of the game will give you a full game and entire game code. What differentiates each edition are extra game goodies that come with the edition. The AE Edition comes with a code to get the Cyborg (Technology) Costume Booster set or the Magic Costume Booster. The costume booster sets come with costume pices that are a cut above the costumes that are normally found in the Character creator. That's not to say the regular pieces are bad, the Boost sets are just that much better.
The boost sets also some with a set of new emotes and powers. The Magic set has a nice Forturn Telling power which gives a random buff to a player. The Cyborg pack has Self-Destruct which does jut that. You activte a sef-destruct dquence and you blow up 10 seconds late in a big explosion. Mac Edition (doesn't need a Mac to play) comes with the Valkyrie Costume set and has the Teleport to Mission door power. Good vs Evil edition has 2 custome sets (Hero and Villain themed) and a Jump Jet pack which is handle for getting around the game. All of the game eidition comes with 1 free month of game time. so it's pretty much just pick which extra freebies appeal to you. You can buy most of the extra edition goodies separately for $10.
the biggest advancage of the AE Edition box set is that is comes with the most up to date copy of the game. A lot less patches to download for installations. -

one thing I would like to see is some form of tf for lvl 50's that yeilds purps as rewards.
just a thought, nothing more...

The devs has stated that will NEVER happen. Purple will never be available as earnable rewards like that. -

I can't see how it wouldn't be 2010. It's a paid expansion, it'll need more testing that a normal issue. How could anyone imagine it'd be out in a couple of months?
[/ QUOTE ]
With Issue 16 being confirmed as a separate issue, I think it's fair odds that GR might be in 2010, but there's absolutely no reason it needs to be. In 2005, we got
Issue 3
Issue 4
Issue 5
COV - Issue 6
Four issues in one year. No reason that they couldn't repeat the feat in 2009 especially with a larger team focused on making the expansion. Also, take a developer like SOE. They have their expansions planned out well in advance and mostly manage to get them out within months of announcing them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think Going Rogue is outside of the planned free Issues/Updates schedule. It'll be ready when it's ready. If that's the case, I think EvilGeko may be right on. Positron said that they were working out as far as Issue 18. With Issue 16 taking shape, we could very well see Issue 17 before the end of the year. -

...and difficult tasks for level 50 characters to do that make them more powerful.
[/ QUOTE ]
this is the comment that concerns me somewhat. how will this be available to everyone if it is part of a paid expanssion? and before you say everyone will buy it, you can't be certain about that.
also if the game is suppossed to be balanced, how will this affect it? will they nerf anything or ramp everything up to make up for the imbalances this will cause?
[/ QUOTE ]
It won't be available to folks that don't buy the expansion most likely. And they will likely fall behind on high end PvP and PvE as a result. Thus increasing the pressure to buy the expansion.
Like all other MMO expansions. Not that I think this is a bad thing in any way.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's got to be a lateral leveling process since they probably aren't going to bump the level cap. Being in a paid expansion is pretty much par for the MMORPG course. But the bump in "power" isn't going to prevent anyone from doing content they have access to.
And it just occurred to me that this new system will allow players to make their character more power w/o having to delve into the Inventions system. I imagine that will be welcome to a lot of the player population. They only thing you have to do is to play the game. -
[ QUOTE ]
What difficulty level are you facing them on? And what kind of meleer?
I was doing an Unyielding Mission on my level 24 Mace/Fire Armor Brute and it was an exercise in frustration when I'd come across a Spectral Lord or the Demon Lord ... they'd floor my accuracy and then just kick my butt.
That's usually what happens for my melee toons when I face the Spec Lords. Depending on the toon I'm playing, they may or may not be able to kill me, but either way it's a long fight because I simply can't hit them unless I have plenty of yellows on hand.
[/ QUOTE ]
Spectral Lords can be fought solo by melee'ers. You need to use you most deadiest weapon: your brain. So why are Specrtal Lords to bad? Point Blank AoE ToHit debuff. Not the Point Blank part of the power description. Solution avoid point blank. Don't stand toe to (figurative) toe with a Spectral Lord. You got leg...use 'em! Joust the Spectral Lords. Sprint, Dash, Jump whatever and avoid their AoE. To quote Muhammad Ali - Float like a buttterfly, sting like a bee." When the AoE goes down, move in for the kill. -

erm, that's actually been quoted at least twice so far...

I'm on to you all. -
My, my. The community is slipping. Positron let slip out a new tidbit about Going Rogue. And no one caught it except for me of course. (Ok someone might have, but no mention in this thread.
)
From the interview:[ QUOTE ]
Matt Miller: I cant release much information yet. Hopefully the name alone, Going Rogue, provides a good foreshadowing to what the game will encompass. But among other things there will be new zones, the ability to switch a hero to a villain and vice versa, and difficult tasks for level 50 characters to do that make them more powerful.
[/ QUOTE ]
Note the part I highlighted. Recall the 10 Universal Slots from the Survey from last August and Castle comments about having other tricks up their collective sleeve instead of more levels. I'm not even implying it's the Universal slots from the survey, but I believe we have confirmation of a new advancement system. -

LOL. I love it. Puntastic. -
Ultimately by skipping things, you will only miss a teeny, tiny amount of things. That's the filler non-story arc missions that contacts give out. That's it. For everything else you have Ouroboros (aka Flashback). You can go back and do any story arc or reward mission. It's also accessible from the Pillar of Fire and Ice SG base item.
Another option is tht you can turn off the earning of XP. It's a new option that was recently added. So you can turn off XP as to now out level contacts. So you can actually do most everything in the with one character -
I would have to say my Tanker Mountainheart. It embodies everything about him. His powers (WP/SM), his size, his temperment, birthplace. I spent nearly a month picking out the name. Once I decided on Mountainheart everything about the character just clicked into place. He's level 49 and he still only has the once costume.

I appreciate how, by player requests, Lord Recluse's tone and demeanor has changed and how Akarist was pulled from the Task Force. But, our notes on the mysterious absence of Axis America and the mysterious ubiquity of the 5th Column continue to go unaddressed.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think this can be explained very easily. There are lots of parallels between the various Earths. Mostly it's been people, but who about an organization?
We don't have much in teh way of detauls from the public game lore about Reichsman and Axis Earth. It's makes sense that Reichsman was (is) attached to the Axis Earth military. Being who he is, he would be part of an elite unit as the commander no less. And every his elite superpowered lieutents, he would also have elite troops as well. And the name of this Axis America elite unit..the 5th Column. And being an elite unite they would have different/better uniforms, equipment and training. And the setting on Axis American that the player's visit has everything to do with Reichsman, so it would make sense that the bunker and surrounding area would be manned by Reichsman's own personal troops.
The 5th Column on Primal Earth was of Nazi origin, and since Germany conquered the world in the Axis America dimension it's makes sense that the 5th Column would arise in some fashion in the Axis American dimension -

The fact that Going Rogue talks about space means to me (if there is a tie in at all) that the space station is of Shivan origin.
[/ QUOTE ]
Going Rouge mentions NOTHING about going into space. Absolutley nothing. No inking. Nary an iota of anything to do with space. Do not confuse that survey/poll from last year with what they have announced about Going Rogue. Some of what way in the survey is in Going Rogue. But the reverse is not true at all.
