  1. Those roses look delicious. I'd wash them down with a Bacon Maple Ale from Rogue Ales.

  2. I think the reason behind it is pretty self-evident. It's simply easier to pick a badge title from your info screen than it is to filter and scroll through your badge list. I'm really not sure why this needed to be explained.

I think they meant a database server, not a game server. At least, that's how I read it.

I'm fully in support of this idea, but I can't see it being available to all players be they Free, Premium or VIP. I would fully expect this to be VIP only or unlock-able at a certain tier.

Mostly for some additions to Beam Rifle/Pulse Rifle.

I think six new additions might be a bit ambitious, though. I'd settle for 2-3.
  5. Wow, Alex! A great job as usual. Frosty certainly does love being drawn by you. You can see it in her eyes. It makes me wonder what else you guys have going on...
  6. The new tutorial may tell you how to train but it doesn't introduce you to a trainer until level 5. Does that make sense to anyone? In the old tutorial you dinged but couldn't train because there were no trainers. Your waypoint sent you back to Coyote who told you to pick a starting zone and told you who to speak to about training once you were there.

Now, though, because you actually train in the tutorial, when you arrive in Atlas Park you have no reason to speak to Ms. Liberty at all. Your waypoint is set to Matthew Haberdasheryhatmanguy (or whatever the hell his name is) and off you go to see him and get started on your first missions. During which you will probably ding again...except you don't know who to talk to because nobody has told you that yet. So, now you have to ask in the Help channel to get someone to teach you something you should already know if the tutorial was doing it's job. You can't even wait until level 5 because Twinshot doesn't unlock until AFTER you've spoken to Ms. Liberty and trained. At which point Twinshot sends you to Ms. Liberty...to learn to train. Derp.
  7. The new "tutorial" may be more interesting, but that is just about the only way in which it is superior to the old one. It doesn't teach you anything beyond how to move and attack, and while those are the most simplistic of basics that you need to get going, I often feel as though the game is now talking down to me. I find it kind of ridiculous that you don't start learning about enhancements until...what is it? Level 10? At which point you'd better already know how. You don't learn how to level up your character until you're level 5 and have already done it four times? These are things that should be covered in the tutorial. Like they use to be.

    Grrrr. Rant over.
  8. I've always been a huge proponent of giving hands-free devices to homeless people so they look less crazy walking down the street talking to themselves. Call it Blue-Tooth Dignity.

You scooped me! I was going to suggest Coyote. He needs something else to do now that he's not stuck in Outbreak anymore.

Of course...there's always The Fabulous Frosty Femme!
  10. I've never liked Safeguard missions as they were implemented and would welcome any change that made them...fun. I'm perfectly content to leave Mayhems alone, though. I think they're perfect.
  11. Ah. Didn't realize we still had to use an outside host despite what the FAQ says on the matter. They really should correct that.

  12. Hmmm...I have a new screenshot for Alex, but no idea how to put it in this post. Any help?

So post a nice screenshot or two and a short bio of your character and if I like it(or there's not enough volunteers) I'll do a quick sketch.

No promises that I will draw YOUR character, but it's free and it's a chance for Freemium players get some art for their toons. VIP's are invited to post their toons as well.

And if any artists feels like joining in, please do! More art for everyone!

I will occasionally draw something silly and goofy, so if you do not want to see your character in a tutu, do not post them in this thread.(Until they implement the tutu costume piece, in which case, I will draw everyone in a tutu because they are cooler than bowties.)
    Yay! Hi Alex! Welcome back!

I need to put together a new screenshot of Frosty. We finally have the right costume pieces in game. You know, until they come up with some better ones...
  14. An interesting topic. I haven't read everyone's responses yet, but I suppose I don't really need to in order to answer the questions, so here we go:

What side do you pick more than others?
Hero. I use to play almost exclusively Villains, but I've realized that was more for the ATs available than anything else. I prefer their ATs and the zone/mission structure (no running to a different zone from your contact for a mission door), but prefer playing a hero. Now that we can play all ATs on any faction the choice became a lot easier.

What play style do you prefer?
I prefer to solo and I prefer ranged characters. Though my current favorite (who is locked out to me until I can re-sub) is a Fire/Fire Brute. So, really it's whatever catches my interest.

What power set(s) do you favor?
My absolute favorite character is a Bots/Traps MM and I find myself constantly searching for a good Energy/Energy Blaster concept. I've never managed to nail one down.

What zones do you like the most?
Tough to say. The vast majority of my characters never make it out of their twenties. So, i guess I'd have to say Steel Canyon and Faultline are probably the "favorites".

Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''?
I play about 90% female characters. I prefer to choose gender based on concept. I have several male character that I absolutely love and could never imagine them as a female. When I develop a concept it usually suggests a gender. I don't feel like I actively choose one.

    Views on Role Playing?
My role playing in CoH doesn't extend past whatever concept I have in mind for my character and the biography I've written for them. All my characters have a back story even if I haven't included it in game.

    Servers?
Now that I'm stuck down in the trenches with the rest of you Freemiums I'll be headed back to Liberty.
  15. They're all up on Netflix anyway. I've given up on the idea of buying a series on DVD.

It does all sound very cool though.
I've never heard of any of it. But, I'm not into anime/manga/whatever. It does sound interesting, but I just can't get past the fact that we already have three sword powersets. It mostly looks like the differences are in the details and I just can't really get behind asking our devs to focus time, money and effort on something that we already have, or at least, close enough. So, unsigned.
  17. Along with everyone else I'd like to see tights with better texturing. Obviously keep the existing and just add something new.

Something I didn't see posted, and if it was and I missed then just add my name to that list as well, more generic tights patterns. The ones we have are good, great even, but more is always better. We seem to have a lot of design focused patterns and those are awesome for a character that fits that design. But, I'd really like to see some more generic patterns made available.

As far as voting goes: I'd vote option A. But, I'm OK with the compromise of finding a sweet spot between A and B. I think C should also be done just because masks are such an important part of that era of comics. So...I guess in the interest of pleasing everyone you now have to do all three!
  18. I use "character" to describe my characters in MMOs. Well...mostly. The only time I've ever used "toon" was playing Disney's ToonTown Online. Because that's the only time my character was a Toon.

Don't have Tough yet. I'll bear that in mind when I get to it. Now that you mention it I guess I did have more trouble with stuns than previously. But I hadn't faced much Praetorian Clockwork before that mission (last mission in Twinshot's arc) so I didn't think much of it.
  20. Also signed. I would totally use the heck out of this. So many of my concepts have had to be curtailed because the current arm selections just wouldn't work for what I wanted. I recognize the limitations of the creator, I just hate having to rewrite a back story to fit the costume creator.

I've been guilty of this without even thinking about it. After you posted this I started paying more attention to what toggles I had running. I'm not use to playing a character with any toggles at all so I'd never really thought about it before. Tonight I played my Fire/Fire brute in a mission full of Praetorian Clockwork and remembered to turn off my defense against Smashing, Lethal and Fire. Saved endurance and only took slightly more damage than I would have anyway. It's time for me to pay more attention to what each toggle does instead of running all of them because more defense is better, right?

  23. I'm just now starting to get over my Inspiration hoarding habits. Playing a Fire/Fire Brute that I'm having a blast with but struggling with endurance, so I've started getting in the habit of popping inspirations to keep spots clear for potential endurance drops. But, hoarding inspirations is still my single biggest problem.
