  1. Looks pretty cool. If they pull it off it will be pretty much everything we ever wanted from SS. I really like the idea of it opening up in combat abilities.

It does look slower than ours, but I have a feeling they will slow travel down in general. It will help to avoid a lot of issues if they do.
  2. Yes it is slower now. They also reduced player accuracy...again.
  3. I too prefer custom EB's as opposed to custom AV's.

As an EB you can showcase most or all of the sets abilities without making the encounter broken. You can give them much more powerful abilities and the fact that the fight should end much quicker makes that more acceptable. IMO at least.

And yes M E, once again you are talking about things you seem to have no idea about.

Dr. Mike, I like the idea myself. In no way would it step on controller toes, even paired with /nrg for rapid recharging powerboost wouldn't make that so as long as they didn't have ridiculous base durations. Which they wouldn't.

Even pretending it did offer significantly more control than ice blast or sonic blast (which it wouldn't as proposed) and that resulted in some overlap into controller territory; honestly, big whoop, controllers steop all over defenders toes when it comes to dealing direct damage. Why should controllers be the only ones having their cake and eating it too. And that's pretending it would be very strong control, which again it really wouldn't. But it would be nice.
  5. Having experience with mind/kin I can definitely support what Tex is saying. If an EB has ptod the set is bordering on useless. Not only is establishing containment a rare occurrence which means your damage is very low, but they are free to roam around and punch your face in compared to all the other sets than can immob them in place, or use phantom army.

I remember solo'ing the Maria Jenkins arc and if I couldn't kill the EB before my full tray of def insp ran out I was dead. It was always very very close.

But that is largely irrelevant to the point being discussed. It would be helpful if the arc warned of such encounters before you embark on it. Yes you can look it up on the wiki...should you have to?
  6. If I wanted to plan a small raiding team, just to see what could happen, how long before the pylons start respawning?

Basically how fast would we need to take them all down to lower the shields?

I've only done it with like 5 full teams active and they all get zerg'd down in a few minutes.

    thanks.
  7. Sorry for the TRIPLE post lol. that's a first. The router was behaving strangely.

And yes you can change the difficulty before or after logging in/out as long as it is set before you start a fresh map it should take.
  8. Subjective: shouldn't these costume pieces have been released with demon summoning?

edit: just hopped on test and checked the stuff out. Under - wait for it - whelmed. I'll be passing on this not-so-super booster pack, which is sad as mutation was the one I was most looking forward to.

I'd suggest improvements, but I doubt you guys are going to take it all the way back to the drawing board and start over again, so there is no point.
  9. I'm on board for such warnings. Not everyone wants to have the wiki open and research the arc they are about to do, sort of takes a lot of the fun out of discovering the story.

That said, if you encounter that issue in the future you can log out, change the difficulty setting and then reenter the mission and it will reflect the new difficulty settings. Obviously you have to redo that particular mission, but you don't have to abandon the arc or start the whole thing over. Once you complete that difficult encounter you can set the difficulty again prior to entering the next mission and it will again change.

It is one of the higher dpa attacks available, but you should have some fodder near you boosting your damage whenever possible. I just drag weak minions around with me if they aren't dead for some reason. So in that sense using SC will lower your dps because it will eliminate your AAO fuel.

    Giant Monsters

It varies by monster as they have different total HP based on what level they natural occur at (even though they always con purple). As a result they regenerate in varying amounts due to the hp differences.

    For instance:
Babbage has 25500 hp and regens 130hp/sec
While something like a thorn on monster Island has roughly 70k hp and regens ~350hp/sec.

As a trapper their regen rate is inconsequential, but you still have to eat through their hp, which for the latter will take almost 3x as long.

For everyone else though their total regen matters quite a bit. For instance a rad would need ~32 dps to start damaging Babbage and ~89 dps to start damaging the Thorn. Someone with no regen debuffs would need dps that exceeds the targets regen rate, which ultimately means no one is killing high level GM's without debuffs.

5 doctor's wounds with focus on recharge and 1 acc IO is pretty common. Or if you are loaded and really want 2.5% more recharge then 5 pieces pvp Heal set+ 1 acc/rech end mod. Provided of course you have decent global acc to help it out. You shouldn't have end issues if you have stamina, passive accolades, and some recovery IO's if you hit 1 target with it.

Slotted with doc wounds makes it a 940% regen debuff*, which will halt the regen of pretty much anything.

*blaster version is weaker than dom version. Slotted the same the /mm version of DP provides a 470% debuff. Still quite valuable though.

It's certainly possible to hit perma dom and s/l softcap, which makes for a very powerful toon when you add in high uptime on DP.

That opens up a couple avenues. You can try to overstack its mez protection, which fire is the best at (well if you plan on holding it that is, as a mind can much more easily overstack its confuse protection). This takes a bit of time as you need to land 9 holds. Basically to keep it mezzed you need to chain: hold>attack>hold>attack>etc.

For many of the s/l focuses AV's (provided they don't do massive def debuff) this should work just fine. between your def and DP you will easily live long enough to lock them down.

For non s/l AV's and/or debuffers you'll either need to pound a few purples or pop demonic during the lock down phase.

Or you can just try to tank and spank s/l ones and not bother with trying to hold them, rather just dealing max damage to minimize your exposure time. That said, psi assault doesn't really do very much damage so Char slotted for max hold and well enhanced damage would give you the mez and minimal damage sacrifice. So the straight damage approach would be something I'd recommend more for a fire/fire.

Anyway, heal slotted DP will completely halt their regen while it affects them. Your imps and whatever damage you can squeeze out while mezzing will take them down reasonably quickly. Make sure to use poison ray and you'll want your epic pet out contributing to the kill speed too.
  16. Uh oh another thread where M E is arguing without any actual knowledge of what she is talking about...
  17. Not a bad looking patch, some decent bug fixes. I hate the pop up for the fortune though, so to save others from the annoyance I've just stopped using the power all together in the hopes that others will respond in kind and not bother me with it.

Hopefully a fix for sleet/freezing rain arrives soon.
  18. Perma PA is so tasty. Good info in this guide Local. Well done and a recommended read for anyone wanting to play illusion/rad, or even either of the sets as a stand alone.
  19. A therm'd up Stony with both res procs is a beast with:
    (capped at 90%)
    83.8% smash
    93.8% lethal
    103.8% energy
    103.8% neg energy
    127.6% fire
    91.9% cold
    100% psi
    80% toxic

And his attacks taunt, so he makes a pretty good pocket tank.

Other than that I have to agree with Tex, hotfeet or go home when playing fire. You can set the earth powers to look pretty thematically tight with thermal, so if you aren't going to use hotfeet you are better of with an achilies in earthquake to add damage (outside of specific build criteria like an fire/therm AV killer, or concept reasons). There is also the very nice benefit of earth ensuring those long recharge debuffs land when you need them too.

Exactly, if someone goes above and beyond then by all means let them know they are doing a good job.

I'll no more thank you for speed boosting me than you will thank me for casting sleet on every spawn. Nor should you.
  21. I thank the blasters and scrappers for killing everything after each spawn...

when people say "thanks" when I use buffs on them on my cold/therm/kin I say "for what?" at which point they say for the buffs, and I say, "I'm just using my powers, same as you"

People that need to be thanked for buffing are worse than people that don't buff at all.
  22. Thermal is actually one of the more powerful secondaries from a min/max perspective. It isn't popular for a bunch of reasons. The main one being is that similar to cold it is largely a buff bot until very late game.

Since the pet recharge nerf it can drop targets about as fast as fire/rad.
  23. Gonna vary a bit brute to brute, but I'd suggest any setting that gives you:
10 enemies if that is how many your aoe's hit
5 enemies if that is how many your aoe's hit
16 enemies if that is how many your aoe's hit

    for absolute speed bosses off.
