You'll need to find some kind of hosting for your image. photobucket (photobucket.com) seems pretty popular

It is a totally different updater app though. (Observe the native widgets instead of the blue buttons the windows updater has). I'm assuming they went that way so that when it updates the game it can also download any of the Cider updates that happen to come along with it. It just makes sense.
-
The updaters are different. The Windows updater hooks into IE, which isn't possible on OS X. Also the initial installer needs to include all of the various Cider libraries it needs in order to run. The rest of the code is identical to the windows version.

Well...if that's the direction than I take by my "oh no..."

There's a guide over in the Mac section of the forums which details the process:

I had to turn the enhanced water stuff off because I couldn't stand the weird reflection issue.

I concur with Wassy's "bwahaha".
Very cool idea, and great execution. -

These days , nothing as the client should auto-detect what it should be set to. The -renderthread days are gone.
Ok, so chances are you've got a dual core processor in your computer right now, which for all intents and purposes means you've got two CPUs. Without renderthread enabled, City of Heroes is programmed to only make use of one of the two cores, limiting it's performance. With renderthread, the graphics engine is split out from the main program and runs in it's own "thread" on a dedicated core. This increases game performance as now you've got two CPUs crunching information for the game at full speed rather than everything competing for the same resources on a single CPU.
But as I said before, CoH now auto-detects if you have a dual core processor and you don't need to mess with that option anymore. -
It's always read memory. It actually pre-dates the time where log files were available.

You get used to it after a while...This bug has been here foreeeever.

Quote:My understanding is that it peeks into certain memory locations used by the game to store things like the chat buffer and such.I could be wrong but looks to me like Herostats "hooks" into CoH somehow by intercepting its network traffic. It also uses customized code to draw the little window on top of CoH without disrupting it.
The display code is easy enough to do and doesn't involve any hacking. (in Windows. OS X full screen works a bit differently than it does in windows)
Either way, it'd be a coding nightmare to deal with the cider layer between CoH and OS X. -
Quote:I do 50/50 on calling. If we're in battle I just try to maneuver so it'll hit as many people as possible/the people who need it most.I will usually call it off. But I don't ask them to gather, instead I tell them I am going to drop AM near a certain player (usually the tank, if there is one) and if you want it, make yourself in range, for instance: "Dropping AM next to Ice Wall in 3, move it if you want it!"
(On a sidenote, I just started an Ill/Rad recently.)
Between fight's I'll usually call if the team is spread out. If not I just fire away.
I never ask people to gather. I find that annoying. -
Due to the way CoH works on OS X, I'm not sure if it would be technically possible to make a Herostats like program that works with it.

You are most definitely wrong. I have been helped by the same GM multiple times in a row. I'm absolutely sure that it was the same individual by how they acted. (very nice and helpful individual, although I forgot their name...it was a while ago)

Quote:Yup. Faultline was supposed to be a Trial zone. For any people reading this who weren't here prior to I8, the area behind the dam to the south of faultline was inaccessible although you could see it through the war walls (and get to it if you happened to find a map hole). That was where the trial was supposed to take place, but it never actually made it into the game (despite being described in the official Prima strategy guide)As has been pointed out, old Faultline had no zone monster.
Old Faultline was a Trial Zone which pretty much meant there wouldn't be any sort of draw except for its Trial. A shame the Faultline Trial never made it in-game.
Like Eden and Terra Volta (and, I suppose the underground sewer network) trial zones don't have giant monsters. -
Quote:And a pretty hefty machine as the number of people on the call increase. The only downside to Skype is that it's essentially peer-to-peer. This means that the originator of the call needs to have a nice, stable network quality with good upload bandwidth. Since I and all the people I play with regularly have that, it's a lot easier to deal with since it needs no dedicated server for you to connect to.
I also dislike skype due to lack of a push-to-talk type functionality. It's possible to mute and unmute the mic of course, but I prefer holding down a button to talk instead of toggling. Less chance you'll lose track of when your mic is muted and when it isn't.
And it's more convienent than the usually cord mounted mute buttons on most headsets.
Quote:In regular PvE play here, I only use it socially, but I use if for that a lot. Most of the time that means what I'm talking about has nothing to do with what's happening in game, but game-relevant information does get thrown in ("incoming," "I'm held", etc.) -
Quote:Yes you can. There are a number of basic fills and gradients that you can use with vectors that are also based on mathematic algorithms so they scale with the linework as well. I'm quite positive that there are all new and intricate patterns and fills to make use of now. It's been years since I touched illustrator or flash at all.
Gradient meshes in Illustrator make me want to throw things. -

Quote:You shouldn't need an invitation. Head on over to http://cityofheroes.deviantart.com and click the Join Group button that should be somewhere towards the top of the page.Okay so do we have to be in the "City of Heroes Group thing on DA" then to get the submission into DA the right way if so I need an invitation or whatever?
-
This would be because in addition to the annoyance of flying all the time, there's several powers that simply are unable to be activated unless you are standing on the ground. Group Fly prevents the usage of these powers.

Quote:Assuming you were actually lucky enough to FIND your level 30+ SO store contact guy before they added them to the map.Anyone remember having Mark IV as your tech SO contact? Surrounded by purple Crey, including Snipers? I remember dying more than once trying to sneak up to him to buy SOs.
Major props to anybody who found Agent Six sitting under that bridge in Founders Falls without somebody telling them where she was.
