  1. Virtue is actually the unofficial RP server, but word on the street is that there are good RPers on every server. I'd start by looking for RP heavy supergroups -- those are usually a good place to find RPers.
  2. Virtue's problems are not related to overpopulation. The server load is balanced roughly evenly across all servers. This has been confirmed by the developers. (I find myself repeating this a lot these days. )

I have a great deal of faith that Cryptic will track down the problem and squash it. Given that, and the fact that I already have several characters I really like and have invested time into on Virtue -- as do many others, I'm sure -- most of us would rather not move and start over.
  3. Yes, there has been talk of moving it, but since you can't move characters between servers, the idea hasn't gotten a great deal of support.

I should also note that one of the devs stated on the main board that the problems with Virtue are not related to character load.

I know that I'm quite happy being on Virtue myself.
  4. One of the developers has stated on the main forum that the problems Virtue is having *are not* related to character load. (Those of us who were in beta have seen a heavy load server in the launch day tests, and while chargen/login is slow to them, they tend to work fine in actual play.) With the new maintenance window, I suspect they'll be tracking down and fixing the issues soon enough.

In other words, let me be the voice of dissent here and say we ought to stay on Virtue.
  5. One of the Hellions stared incredulously at the t-shirt clad man before drawing a switchblade and dashing towards him. He didn't quite make it close enough to use it, though; after his first few steps, the pale "hero" snapped his fingers and the thug fell to his knees, clutching his eyes and screaming in agony.

"That never gets old," the black-clad alleged illusionist said with a chuckle. "Now about that going away..." He languidly flicked his index finger in the direction of the Hellion and a blast of emerald force launched him into the air; he slammed into the nearby water with a loud splash.

"So, who's next?" he sarcastically queried, not noticing the gang member, armed with a baseball bat, sneaking up behind him.

My supergroups are still in the process of forming, since I don't have lots of time each day to play and get to level 10.
  7. Having been idly paying attention to the conversation between the Sly Fox and the others, the pale man rolled his eyes as the bullets seemingly flew through him. "Oh, please..." he sighed as he hovered in the direction of the Hellions. "I suppose there's no way you'd just leave the old man alone and leave peacefully? I'd prefer not to waste my energy conjuring apparations of your greatest terrors."
  8. That aforementioned unofficial Virtue server board is...

    http://virtue.fausty.net

Fauzt and I are the mods right now, and we're of course looking for suggestions and help. It's a very fresh forum, but feel free to drop by and introduce yourselves while we put things together.
  9. Let me throw in two more suggestions:

RP with other supergroups. Come up with a background and faction orientation for your SG -- a character concept, almost -- and discuss story arcs with other SGs. Conflict RP will be difficult until more dark to outright villainous SGs come into play, but bear in mind that this is still only the day after launch; the RP groups need time to form.

RP on the forums. There's an unofficial Virtue server forum in the works right now, and when it comes up, RPing there will be a great way to meet other RPers.
  10. No doubt there are some already in existence, as well as some that are works in progress. I've got two -- designed to be complimentary for conflict RP -- in the works, but there's that whole "getting a character to 10" thing and also the whole "finding people" thing.

As for existing RP guilds on our server, I'm aware that 1st Fist of Light is supposed to be on Virtue now, for those who are familiar with them.
  11. "You might want to be careful with that. You never know who might be watching," a male voice intoned flatly. Floating slowly across the grass, clad in loose black slacks and a baggy, worn black t-shirt with a grey spiral logo, the young, lanky, ashen man curled his lips into a smirk as he straightened his tan ponytail and pushed the bridge of his glasses up his nose.

    "Nice day, huh?"
  12. If no one else gets to it first, I've been considering putting together a Virtue server forum on ezBoard. In addition to serving the usual functions for such, it'll be tuned towards RP and specifically inter-SG RP.

This assumes, of course, that ezBoard comes up any time in the near future...

    Hero ID Cards

Aha. I've got to help keep this thread alive. I'll do my two mains.

Name: Galen "Mentalis" (Illusion Control/Force Fields)

Background: Born Galen McCormack to a wealthy family in Galaxy City, "Mentalis" received the best in life -- private schooling, advanced computers, and only the best friends money could buy. Bored with such coddling, he decided to take his own path in life, devoting himself to the sciences and the fine art of manipulation and deception. He quickly learned that he had the uncanny ability to cause trouble while pinning the blame on others, and often used this to disrupt his high school -- always to his amusement.
One day, he was confronted by one of his unwitting "marks" and found himself cornered in a bathroom after school. His mutant powers manifested here as a horrific illusion that drove his attacker to the brink of madness. When he returned home, he was greeted coldly by his parents, especially after he admitted that he felt no remorse -- he felt nothing, in fact -- for the deed.
Older and wiser, Galen now seeks to use his talents in deception and illusion to raise mutants and GIFT to their rightful place as the ultimate defenders of Paragon City. To this end, he is working to establish the New Porter Institute for Psychical Research, an "academy" for young mutants where they can learn how to use their powers while fighting crime. In his mind, the ends always justify the means, and if battling the forces of evil (even if some of them are of his own design) is what's required to gain political power in Paragon City, so be it.

Battle Cry: *dismissive wave* Oh, please. You're no match for me.

    Name: Ariel (Claws/Super Reflexes)

Background: Ariel's life before being drafted into SERAPH is something of a blur. "I've only really lived half my life," she often says. Since discovering the steel-wrapped claws lying beneath her arms and her preternatural, feral reflexes, she's been plagued by blackouts and faded memories. She recalls having a rough childhood, complete with a drunken father and a submissive, religious mother; a fatal accident at her high school that resulted in her expulsion; and her parents throwing her out of the house for being a horrific, evil abomination. As far as she knows, she's had her powers all her life, and only a mutant would have claws inside their arms -- or so she believes.
Until recently, Ariel had been undertaking petty crimes to survive. When she was finally caught by the Paragon City police force, a representative of SERAPH interceded on her behalf and offered her the option to use her powers for the good of the city -- in return for a small stipend and the closing of her criminal record. She hastily agreed and was promptly sent out into the city as a new soldier in the eternal war against crime.
This, of course, is when she met Dr. Nemesis. A wizened researcher into the paranormal, he gave her a place to stay and swore to help her discover the nature of her memory loss. She remains by his side, even as her powers grow with use and her memory of battles improves -- including the vicious, intuitive way that she rends her foes and the feral instincts that demand that she revel in the destruction. Scared and confused by her apparent true nature, she clings to the doctor as her only safe haven in a frightening world.

Battle Cry: Hey! Go away! I don't want to hurt anyone... (though, when a fight starts, it's a snarl and "DIE!")
