OOC: We might need 2 RP servers
Well I just started playing today (YEAH!!!!), and my girlfriend and I started up on Virtue because I wanted to be (hopefully) around more people that would at least act like they were some kind of hero and playing a RPG instead of just another monster mash MMO....
Now I can't get into Virtue...
Why not just pick one of the lower populated (currently) servers? Like, Liberty?
Yea my vote's on Liberty too...we need to do something because as of right now, I think all the RPers broke Virtue.
Linerty sounds good to me guys. I have been having troubles with virtue too. I have characters on infinity and victory now - but neither has anything close to a strong RP community. I will be creating my RP chaarcter on Liberty tontite or tomorrow. A controller known as Cursed Chaos (assuming the name isn't taken) hope to see you there.
Don't panic. There is plenty of room left on Virtue. They were having some server problems today. I think it's a bit early to worry about this. especially since in Beta a single server sustained MANY instanced zones (ap1-5, etc) and virtue has yet to have more than a couple of extra instances of a couple of zones. The problems today wern't population gluts. But something else.
RP'ers didn't break it. In fact, judging by the names I see on
there, I don't think it's heavily populated by RP'rs at all. I
think they are all in an Underground Base
I say we give it a couple more days before we decide to jump the "RP ship" so to speak and move to another server and start over again.
It was fine earlier today, but I had some annoying lag a few hours ago. It's probably just a matter of some maintenence and what not.
okay no prob here one way or the other. I am just trying to find the better server to RP on before i make that character. I have also heard of a Victory RP group - has anybody heard about that? Man this would be so much easier if NCsoft would just designate a RP server, and then let us police it for people that don't ever RP. oh well, i'll keep fooling around on Infinity until this is decided.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm coming from the prespective of a long time EQ player. On EQ servers like Veeshan were incredibly over crowded and the over crowded servers were just no fun. People and l33t d3wds flock to the most crowded servers in mmorpgs and since the RP crowd in this game is rather large I felt that it's just asking for trouble.
But then, I could be completely off in my assumptions and virtue could be the best server ever. we'll just have to wait and see.
So far I haven't seen too many problems on Virtue. The occasional mapserver disconnect, but that's about it.
One of the developers has stated on the main forum that the problems Virtue is having *are not* related to character load. (Those of us who were in beta have seen a heavy load server in the launch day tests, and while chargen/login is slow to them, they tend to work fine in actual play.) With the new maintenance window, I suspect they'll be tracking down and fixing the issues soon enough.
In other words, let me be the voice of dissent here and say we ought to stay on Virtue.
hey, i finally got on virtue - a lot of the bugs seem to be getting ironed out. there is usually a heavy load of players there, but that isn't always a bad thing. Since i have my RP character there, i'll most likely be staying. It looks like we may only need the one RP server.
Now if there was just some way to help enforce the RP aspect of it.

Agreed. Trying to move the RP community will just wind up fracturing it, and even if server load is causing a problem odds are some of the players who have no special reason to be on Virtue will wind up moving on anyway.
Ok, as of now Virtue is the most populated (or 2nd most..not sure about Justice) and half the people that will be playing don't even have their games yet. And that's to say nothing about the thousands of people who refuse to buy a game until it's been out a month or two so they can hear the reviews of players.
When I logged on Virtue was in the red as "heavy load". What happens when the rest of the pre-orders get their games? Virtue might become almost unplayable due to it being the unofficial rp server. I'm affraid that we might just have to pick a 2nd rp server for just this reason.
Any other opinions?
