Oh right, I guess I should post the arc here too, for people who are looking to play it.
Arena: (#456200) Gladiator fights in the arena have degenerated into a propaganda tool in the cold war between the U.S. and the Rogue Isles. You have been assigned as security during the World Championship in St. Martial. -
Remove them?
They would be pretty much the same as they are now but with a different motivation, which would probably only become obvious in a few arcs, maybe a TF if we're lucky.
I would love if they changed the bulk of them to use more nictus effects but I'm not holding my breath.
I just don't see the point of having two virtually identical groups, so similar that it's practically impossible to keep track of which group the various leader figures belong to at any one time. The simplest and easiest way to make the two groups different enough that they both become more interesting would seem to be to give one of them a new agenda. Preferably one that doesn't invalidate all the content that they already feature in. Nihilism seems to fit the nictus perfectly.
WHY they are nihilists? Hell, I don't know. They are aliens, who knows what they are thinking? Maybe the procedure turning them into nictus twisted their minds to the point where they see this universe as a big mistake that must be erased to bring about a new perfect world. It could be anything really. The point is that the nictus, as aliens, don't need a reason we humans can understand. Think of them as a swarm of fluffy glowing Great Old Ones or Elder Gods, unknowable, indifferent, unfathomable. Alien. The Council would be the insane cultists who worship, summon and let them possess their bodies in exchange for power. -
Can we get some way to shut off sounds for individual powers, even if it just affects ourselves and not everyone else? I know it can be done by putting empty files with certain names in some folder but a way to do it in-game would be nice. As a precursor to customizable sounds, perhaps. A checkbox next to the power in the costume generator would be fine.

Quote:Not distinct enough, sorry. My thought, what if they are still Fascists? While the 5th are Nazi, there is a distinct difference in pure Facism as was found in Italy, Spain, Argentina, Brazil and Iraq.
Nihilism or bust. Nihilism all the way. Make them the suckers who really are going to destroy the world if they get a chance. Make them REALLY alien (that kind of nihilism is quite inhuman - real-world nihilists probably wouldn't bother trying to actively destroy the world), and give us a reason to REALLY hate them.
You thought Rikti were bad? They are bunny-rabbits compared to these Nictus I have in mind. Conquering earth and enslaving humanity? Waste of time for the Nictus. Possess as many as necessary and then just kill everyone. Blot out the sun while you're at it. Wipe out all evidence of Earth ever having had life, and wipe the entire history of humanity away forever. Then do it again on the next world. -
Quote:I play Gunsinger on Virtue. She's a tribute to Lady Gaga.Another one I used for a temporary name on the Training Room was "Gunsinger". Gunslinger + singer. A Sonic/DP Defender styled as a glamorous wild west era singer wielding two revolvers.
I also have Arrowminded (arrow + narrowminded) there. Archery/Mental blaster. -
Quote:No reason except that the Skulls are only around for 10 levels or so, but the Council goes from 1-50. And the Skulls aren't a believable threat to the safety of the world. They basically don't have the bite to support their bark. The Council are believable as a force that could destroy the world if they were given half a chance. As a funny note about Nihilists, I once tried to reimagine the The Skulls for an AE arc where they're revisted as a group of Nihilists to fit their "death" theme. So if any enemy group gets changed up to have nihilist philosophies, I'm going to say it should be the skulls, they need a real banner. The Hellions are Satanic Anarchists, why can't the Skulls be Necrophiliac Nihilists?

I'm always for new options.
I would put the gun drone and/or the LRM in there though. -
I thought it was going to be about special MA enhancements too...

As we all know Kheldians suffer from a severe lack of slots. To get a tri-form build working is a pain in the tentacles. My suggestion is "simple" (conceptually, maybe not technically): give the bonus powers granted by the alternate forms TWO starting slots instead of just one. That would go a long way towards making the forms useful right out of the box, and of course it would make building kheldians a bit easier.
While we're at it, can we make the Dwarf transformation not be interrupted if something mezzes you while it's animating? I keep thinking I'm going to be transformed and safe but the effects fade away and there I am, in human form, mezzed, and I have to start the transformation all over again while my enemies gleefully carve me to pieces.
Cutting the activation time for the transformation in half or even less would be nice too. If your build depends on a lot of changing you can spend half the fight locked in transformation animations. Slow and annoying.
Finally I'd love it if kheldians could be as desireable on a team as the spiders are. I don't know what can be done about that short of making each kheldian grant an xp bonus to non-kheldians on the same team for putting up with them. -
Didn't you have a thread for this already?

The recharge should be 25 seconds instead of 25 minutes. I think it's just a typo and now it's become a matter of pride. Nobody is willing to admit that it was an error.

Since the damn "cottage rule" pops up every time someone comes up with an idea for changing one powerset or another, I think it's time we get a workaround so suggestions for powersets can be made without some wiseguy chiming in with "cottage rule!" in the very first response.
I propose that powersets could have several optional powers for each tier. If a new power is invented that would fit into one of the existing powersets, it could be allowed as an option. Example: old Moment of Glory could be offered as an option alongside the new Moment of Glory. Someone is bound to have preferred the old version.
In before "cottage rule!" -
If every play counted I would probably replay arcs more often. Since replaying them won't help the author out I, like almost everyone else, prefer playing new arcs where my play can contribute in some way.

Quote:Leave the sissy stuff to the Council and reinvent the 5th. They're the ones lacking.
I don't think either is lacking I just think they are too similar.
In my pipe-dream the 5th Column would be all black and red helmeted trenchcoat-wearing nazi bad-***** with flamethrowers, chain guns and bazookas, supported by Vandal's robots and Nosferatu's vampires. Like what they are today but cranked to 11. Oh and they would hate the nictus/Council almost more than they hate minorities of the wrong color and sexual orientation. Throw in an evil female nazi leader too, in charge of a brutal organisation of female assassins. Like the Knives of Artemis but more evil and less mercenary.
The Council would keep the warwolves since they have been a nictus byproduct now for about 10 times longer than they were ever magical werewolves, and changing them back now would be even weirder. They will have the galaxy soldiers, the nictus and void hunters. Basically all of them should be powered by a nictus or nictus shards. Get rid of the robots or make the robots run on nictus fragments too, to make them different from Vandal's robots. If they need an explanation they can turn Burkholder into a nictus and make him join the Council more ... permanently. Make the Center into a nictus possessed mad-man too, just to make sure there's no talk about the 5th "taking over" again.
If necessary we'd shake up the internal organization of each group once again, shift some allegiances and loyalties around to make sure that all the nictus end up with the Council, and none with the 5th. -
Quote:Requiem himself is Column, though, not Council. Heck, he's the one always trying to subvert the Council, at that. Of course, now Reichsman has apparently stolen the Fifth Column from him too.
Requiem's message While journeying in Werewolf World, you felt a dark presence touch your mind. It said: 'This is a world of shadows, and I can hide myself easily within it. You believe me responsible for the destruction that has coursed through the multiverse. I must admit, I glory in it. You will not find me, little hero. These shadows are my only friends.'
He revels in the destruction of the multiverse. Sounds pretty nihilistic to me. Later on when you have lured him back into the light with a candle of pure flame he says that he is glad to be defeated, in a way, and that he has seen the multiverse and despised it. Clear nihilistic tendencies. He may be 5th Column but he's also Nictus. Being the puppets of nictus masters is what should make the Council nihilists, not the other way around. Requiem is quite extraordinary in that he has remained in control over himself despite being possessed by a nictus for so long. -
It's the 12th. Where's my VirtueVerse fix?
-
I'll just wait for the Rikti epic AT which is no doubt being created RIGHT NOW to go along with the RIKTI HOME WORLD EXPANSION which should be coming along shortly. In a good and just universe it should, anyway.

That's the sign of true (parody) nihilists. They know they will be destroyed along with the world - they don't care. It's not a normal mindset. If we want to make them seem like they have a plan then they could be working towards making Earth a breeding camp for nictus hosts. If you have played Unai Kemen's arc which ends with you finding Requiem alone on a world of warwolves, and the utter destruction/disappearance of that dimension, that's what I'm going for. The Council wants that kind of world.
