Costume Codes

I recently had the awesome privilege of attending the NYC Meet & Greet this last Friday, and managed to score the best costume code in the entire game. The awesome lady at the awesome swag booth even let me snag an extra pair for my friends who couldn't make it to the event.

Unfortunately this leaves out my other friends (my entire server <3) who are now similarly lacking the wicked sick greatness that is Riktification. It's nice that these things are kind of exclusive and cool, but I feel bad about those who are left wanting

My suggestion is to list costume codes on the online store, or include a couple in each booster pack. I know the Party Pack could really use something to make it more appealing, and it's not like nobody's ever thrown a costume party before! It'd definitely go a long way towards making the pack worth $10 (No offense or anything, but c'moooonnnnnn!).

Anywho, that's my time. Gotta go make a photo diary of my Restructurist's attempts to fit in with Pathetic: Human: Society.

Alternately, well, halloween's coming up. Let us select x number of costumes to make permanently available (say, 1, account wide, at some number collected, and/or turn in costume salvage for them.)

Given that I would do pretty much ANYTHING to get hold of those Rikti codes (short of, you know, a flight of £650 over to NYC etc), I fully support this suggestion.

I don't care how tough the trial is, if it gets me a code so I can play as a Rikti, I would do it.

Even another underpants dance if I had to.

There's a couple on Ebay.

Someone told me those were going for $100.

...Not that I wouldn't pay that much to be a Rikti...

Two of them are only up to $52 at the moment, not that I 'd pay even that much but others might.

Hmmm, not seeing any on eBay and as it is, I'm not sure they'd work on an EU account more's the pity. Hey ho. Maybe I'll just have to roll a Kelly Uqua equivalent until then.

This would be awesome. As I think the Rikti hold the key to defeating the Coming Storm, I don't think the Devs are quite done with our extra-dimensional friends just yet...

Back to the OP - I've supported the idea of a permanent way to get costume codes that doesn't involve spending big bucks (define it for yourself, people, it means different things to different people) to either make it to a Con or buy it on eBay.

The Devs have now finally deigned to make it to an East Coast Con, but still nothing for the folks here in the middle of the US, not to mention those overseas.

I have nothing against the idea of getting permanent costume codes in ways other than having to be physically present at a Con or buying them from eBay.

But I think we ought to be a bit more clear with our suggestions the way ResidentBaka was. If we just let the Devs run wild with this idea they might decide to link something like this to an upcoming Vet Award or some such. Imagine how many people would whine about it if these became Vet Awards at some point?

Thanks for the link. I have no idea why I couldn't find those while searching with the same terms. Might be something to do with my location maybe.

Either way, I would enjoy seeing these become easier to obtain rewards other than attending conventions (which I love dearly anyway). However, I also see that some folk might grumble that it takes away their 'specialness'. For those of us that can't always get to cons or don't have any near us, I'd support inventive ways to get hold of them. Here's mine:

1) Tie them to defeat badges. That I could live with. I'm not the biggest badger out there but I would hunt down a few thousand Rikti to get the code.

2) Link them to the costume badges for the Halloween event. If you collect enough costumes from Trick of Treating, then you get to choose one to use permanently.

I wouldn't have any problem linking these things to badges - just take a quick look at my sig line to see why.

But there are some people out there who'd pitch a major fit over that. These people already loathe the idea of the few "costume items linked to badges" we have already. Any more would likely make them have kittens.

I suppose technically speaking the Devs would end up upsetting someone out there no matter what they did. Can't please everyone I guess. *shrugs*

My post was supporting ResidentBaka's suggestion, not meant as a suggestion of my own. My parentheses (define it for yourself...) was only meant to prevent side discussions about how "cheap" it might be to find codes on eBay or attend Cons.

I'm on the fence with this issue.

I think part of the reason that they are so cool and wanted is because there are only a limited number of them and they are difficult to acquire.

They seem like they're a defining part of conventions and M&Gs - basically a reason to show up.

Basically something becomes less special once everyone has access to it.

I mean, I would -love- a PPD Hardsuit code. But if everyone had one... I'm not so sure.

Anyway, that's my 2inf.

$10 a code seems like a fair price, but still... if everyone could buy them, I'm not so sure if I'd want them.
