Quote:I don't even know how it works. If people who take advantage of exploits should be punished, as you stated in the thread over in the Suggestions section, then people who explain how exploits work and thereby enable even more exploiters to exploit the exploit should be also punished!
Oh, ho! Hoist on your own petard!
But I suppose you are right. If an entire menagerie of cats weren't out of every possible bag by now I wouldn't have gone into all that detail. -
The mission involves killing creatures of "underling" rank which somehow give rewards as if they were "boss" rank. This is obviously not correct. It is an exploit because it grants too high rewards for too little effort.
Quote:I would love somebody to explain exactly how it is a rules violation.
Quote:The fault is with the Dev's, not the player base.
The correct way is not to make several copies of the same mission with slight changes to try to squeeze some more rewards out of it before it gets removed, playing it over and over again as much as possible, knowing what they are doing is wrong and will eventually be stopped. -

If you play the same character every day the amount of Patrol XP you get is pretty small. Sure, being able to turn it off or wipe it clean at will wouldn't hurt anyone, so by all means let's have that. But it's not 1/3rd of all your XP if you play every day. More like 5% of all your XP.

For what it's worth I came into this thread to make a similar joke.

Quote:Perhaps you should simply respec out of Rage. I got rid of it on my SS brute and I haven't looked back. I couldn't stand the crash either. Give it a shot, you might like it better that way. Some of those costly IOs (couples LotG, Numina's/steadfast/Miracle...etc) come from an already striped down toon, my once highest char, a lvl44 SS/SD brute that i hate, cause i found out that i couldn't stand the Rage crash. Add to that Hasten crash, and, well *puke* I respecced him to grab the Energy mastery Pool and that solved some of my end probs, but even then i told myself that SD was better on a scrapper anyway (dam cap) and i already focused my hope on something else.
Quote:- Rememberd far too late that 30% S/L def is anecdotical at most with zero DDR in Elec, even though it cost so much money.
Edit: That's the softcap for white conning minions, so it might not do much good against AVs, but it sure can't hurt. -
Quote:I don't think they are trying to stop farming. Just cheating.By now, it should be obvious that the developers are NEVER going to be able to stop people from farming architect missions.
Quote:Trying to do so is a waste of time, and quite honestly, may be driving people away from normal architect arcs, since a lot of the changes they make are affecting those too.
Quote:The devs need to simply accept the fact that this isn't something they can control, and move on. -
It's players' choice, everyoen can vote. The judges were just there to help with the nomination process, if necessary.

Quote:My suggestion would give you 50% real XP and 50% patrol XP which could then be burned earning real XP at a 50% faster rate. You would get just as much XP as before, at the same rate, but only if you stepped outside the AE and did some "real" missions. If you only played in the AE you would only earn 50% XP.One problem with all these suggestions. AE has always been sold as something with XP. It has always been said that one could play ENTIRELY in AE and go from 1-50. You take away the XP and you will find many people wont be interested to play it at all.
Quote:Obviously SOMETHING needs to be done about the exploits and in all honesty if the development team wasnt so focuses on Issue 19 right now this thing would have probably been fixed already, but the removal of XP isnt the answer to me. nor is earning vitrual xp because I am spending REAL time and I want REAL rewards. Patrol XP I am not spending ANY time playing at all. -
You don't get inf but you get tickets. Isn't that enough?
-
-
Can you give us a reason for why you think it's not a good idea?

How about this:
XP you earn in the AE is not real xp, it's virtual XP, which functions similar to Patrol XP, i.e. you have to go out and earn actual "real" XP in order to benefit from your virtual "training session".
Another option would be to remove Influence rewards from the AE entirely. It would be perfectly reasonable since the AE missions are not real and thus shouldn't affect a character's fame or finances in any real way. Tickets more than make up for the loss of actual Inf rewards, and reducing the amount of Inf you get in the AE would reduce farming considerably, I believe, while still keeping the marketing promise of AE as an alternative way to level to 50.
Best would probably be to combine the two. You earn 0% influence and 50% XP in AE missions, but you gain Patrol XP up to the usual Patrol XP limit of thirty xp bubbles (I think) which will let you earn XP 50% faster when doing non-AE content. Tickets make up for the loss of Inf without causing inflation since you only produce merchandise and not money.
Another way to hand out the patrol XP might be to let us buy it with tickets. It might be easier to program it that way.
I think this would put an end to AE farming almost completely (tickets are still nice to get) and would limit the harm current and future exploits can cause before they can be plugged. -
Sea creatures? Seems like there's been some changes...

I went on vacation to Chicago during the Cape Radio Meet and Greet that they have there. So I've met about 30 people that I know from the game, and some I didn't know before.
-
Doesn't matter to me either way but I think this might just be adding unnecessary complexity to something that is working fine already.

It's not that they use a special formula, it's that the only rating that matters is an average of 5 stars. Anything below 5 won't get you a hall of fame and it won't get your arcs a good position on random searches. That is why lower votes than 5s are just different degrees of down-rating, and why a single 1-star vote is a death sentence for any new arc.
-
Quote:But that's not true either. I pretty much reserve 1 star ratings for farms, but more than 80% of the arcs in the system are farms. Here's my chart:This is very true. Many people ignore math and go with all sorts of criteria for giving ratings. Simply put:
1 Star = At least 80% of the arcs in the system are better than this arc
2 Stars = At least 60% of the arcs in the system are better than this arc
3 Stars = At least 40% of the arcs in the system are better than this arc
4 Stars = At least 20% of the arcs in the system are better than this arc
5 Stars = This arc is in the top 20% of arcs in the system
WN
1 Star = This arc is a farm and not worth my time. Worse than 10% of the arcs in the system.
2 Stars = Well at least there's some kind of story or something. Worse than 1% of the arcs in the system.
3 Stars = About the same as classic official content. Worse than 0.1% of the arcs in the system.
4 Stars = About the same as current official content. Worse than 0.01% of the arcs in the system.
5 Stars = Better than current official content. Worse than 0.001% of the arcs in the system.
Interestingly that 0.001% number looks similar to the number of 5-star average arcs with more than 100 plays... Maybe off by about a magnitude but still pretty close. -
Quote:Overall: I like it, because it's short and generic enough that I can just put it in any character's story without thinking about it or having to explain/change too much in my own mind to make it fit. It's not very deep and not much is really happening but it's at least affecting my character personally and not someone else's story that we have to just go along with. This story is about me. I like random clones because I can replay the arc several times and get something new every time.Arc ID: 453091
Arc Name: A Clone of Your Own?
Author: @Bubbawheat
Morality: Rogue
Level Range: 35+
Description: Just when you thought you could make a quick honest buck selling some tissue samples for SCIENCE! It comes back and bites you in the butt. According to Dr. Mephit, the samples have been stolen and as long as you want to keep your involvement quiet, you better be the one to bring it back.
Mission 2: Some clone allies don't seem to help out much. I know this isn't your fault but maybe one ally is enough, and you could make it tougher. Let the other allies remain as enemies, betraying when you set them free. I'd rather fight them than bring them along and then have them not fight when I need them.
Mission 3: The Green Guard? That's the best name? And with a "the" too? Seemed weird.
The doc talks about being "taken by freaks" but he's guarded by some of his own men.
The "Willy Freak" was called "Smart 1" in mission 2 but not here. His description says that I've never seen a Freak like this before, but I have, in the previous mission. If he's not supposed to be the same guy he needs new dialogue.
The Crey ambush had some broken text replacement code. The $hisher got a linebreak in it so it showed up as "$his<br>her".
I must have missed something. There was no clue mentioning what the doctor was going to use the research for was there? I was just slapped with some bonus immorality in the debriefing, talking about all the good things he was going to use it for, but I didn't notice any of that in the mission.
I think it's a bad idea to have the doctor be an elite boss when none of the clones are tougher than a boss. The fight against him was longer than any of the other fights, and almost took longer to finish than one of the missions. -
Quote:That sounds really fun. I want that. You know what? If you're so adamant about re-hiding, how about getting that...by fighting? Like Brutes and their Fury, Doms and their Domination, Blasters and their Defiance...
Kill a target = You're hidden again. I'd love it. Slap that in and ship it out. Solve the whole demoralize-not-procing issue too since, if you 1-shot something with AS, you're still hidden to strike again. The enemies would still know you're there but you can pop another shot off...possibly killing another to put you in hide again...
