Quote:/signedWe already have costume sets, collecting interesting and themed costume parts together for those who don't want to spend a lot of time fretting over which glove option goes best with that belt.
Now that we've got more control over the coloration of our powers, and since I've already seen at least one thread about help for them, I think it'd be nice to see some "color themes" beyond merely "dark" and "bright".
For those powers which come with full sets of bright and dark, perhaps a theme for elements - greens and blues for water/earth, browns and greys for stone, tan and yellow/white for sand, etc.
While it's easily possible for lots of us to make stuff like this and share it, it'd also be very nice to have a dropdown list for it where available.
Also I'd love to see a "match as close as possible to main and secondary costume color" but... since not everyone uses only two colors that is probably either a ways off, or not possible at all, and given that not all powers use the same set of colors as the costumes... -
Quote:Most people don't have a problem while on teams. Accidents happen and a buff may get applied by mistake. If someone is being a jerk about it they can be kicked or the offended person can quit.Any GOOD buffer listens when people say "no buffs" >.> (I join a team as my /kin, first thing I ask is "Does anyone NOT want SB?")
That aside.. The 'default colors' option is TOTALLY /signed.
I probably wouldn't use it, at least not often.
What I would love to see is 4 options.
Custom colors:
Always off
Always on
Always on, except those I select
Always off, except self and those I select
Basically if you had either of the 'except those I select' options selected, you when you right-clicked a player, the context menu would have an option of "turn default colors on/off" which would allow us to still see Awesome Hero Bob's cool color scheme, but not be blinded by Greifer George's neon pink/neon green buffs.
The biggest problem with buffs are the jerks that use them to disrupt social gatherings.
My two personal favorite buff blocking features would be either
A small window similar to /hide where we can select when we are willing to accept buffs. They could even go so far as let us pick which buffs we'll accept. The last part is pushing it tho.
Or a pop up window like Mystic Fortune has so we can either accept the buff or it fails to go off. -
Quote:As always anonymity breeds false courage. They rely on people not taking the rep system seriously enough to report them so they can "say" things they would never post in an open forum or PM. A few have even deluded themselves into thinking the red and green dots mean something to other people so they take pleasure if they can make your rating drop. It's pure malicious cowardice. Also, on an unrelated note, what is with the name calling in the rep comments? It's not a big enough deal for me to report it, but there are a couple neg reps that just call me a name. Are a couple of people that much of cowards that they can't put their name behind something like that? I'm not even mad, just curious as to why somebody would do that.
I've gotten neg rep angrily commenting on the fact my rep is off and they can't see it. -
Quote:I like this idea but not as a pop up. How about a window off to the side or at the top of the color chart that displays the name of the color as you mouse over it.Well, I ain't color blind, but I think it'd be nice to have the hex color pop up for me.
consider it signifieded
That way there won't be an irritating window appearing over the colors themselves. -
Quote:I don't think that mission would be a problem if you wrote an appropriate story. Say the players are truancy officers and they have to "catch" all the children and send them to school for detention. If it was officially banned, then I doubt it.
One of mine wasn't banned, but a few of the testers told me they'd feel obligated to report it for content if I didn't edit it. I wasn't thinking particularly well when I had the 'villain' group be children and the objective was "Defeat All". -
Quote:People get banned for comments like that, and the Mods actively look for those types of responses and delete them. Furthermore people that overreact and take offense at having their ideas criticized have also been banned. They were the jerks that got Suggestions moved to this part of the forum. Theres a lesson there to be learned. It's a weee difference between the examples you give and the "No, I don't like you're idea and I'm gonna tell you why *I* hate it and hate *you* for suggesting it".
You do realize that this feature already exists right? You can Star a suggestion with a rating of 1-5, and it gives everyone an idea of whether or not people like it.Quote:Actually you've all given me an idea for a forum change (that's likely not gonna happen, huh). On these threads we should have a vote button and a red/green bar showing of how many /signed and /ohgodihateyouandyourideas. That way you wouldn't have to clog up the thread with No's and those that think the idea have (some minor raw, unharnessed, need-work) potential could discuss it. Hmm, yes, that would be cool!
5 stars - Excellent Idea
4 stars - Good Idea
3 stars - Average Idea
2 stars - Bad Idea
1 stars - Terrible Idea -
Quote:Well, that's something I can relate to! People tend to be all negative all the time. Constructive critisism seems to be perma-absent on sections like these.
If you don't like the idea, come with a better one, suggest changes or stick to the one post saying "Soz, I personally imho think this is a bad idea".
My reason for ever posting an idea is because I want ppl to help me fine-tune it, not to take credit for a fully tought out perfect idea. E.g. Here's something I thought of that could be really cool, HOW can we make it work. An idea might hit a dead end, but instead of pointing ot the problems with it, it's way more fun to work around the problems and see how far you can take the idea.
Sure, most ideas will fail miserably, but no ieas will be realized when ppl immediately bully any and all suggestions. I personally have a bunch of ideas I think would be really cool, but since the forum merger and the effects of it, I would never ever concider suggesting them on the forum. (Ok, short tip: Enemy AI & New enemies among others. Think Aliens parasites, 1.000's of clockwork gears style foes/stargate replicators, guerilla hit'n'run tactics and some other nifty features and high stress factors). Oh, well, guess noone will miss'em anyway.
To me it also seems people like the old-style game so much they're terrifyed it would change although people admittedly think it's too easy. Imho making it harder is not the same as making baddies with more hitpoints or more devastating attacks, or better regen or... Remember how you jumped the first time in frostfire when they actually followed you through the elevators? Maybe I should just get the latest Resident Evil, because I'm getting a bit off-topic now aren't I?
People need to realize that posting a suggestion isn't just asking for help fine tuning it. They are also asking if their fellow players even want the idea to be a feature in the game. A simple yes or no is all that's needed to respond to that aspect.
Superdude might post his idea that it would be cool if there was permadeath in the game. If a character dies then the player has to role up a new alt.
Sure the devs could program that in, but would the players want that?
We don't need a paragraph explaining why we don't like it. A simple no is sufficient.
Saying no or /unsigned isn't bullying. -
Quote:Well, at least it was an explanation of why it was moved not just why "something had to be done"!

As you actually did point to stuff that happened on the US forum and expected me to know it and expected me to have read it, although you did know I wasn't on the US forum, it also seemed appropriate for me to point it out! It also gave me a reason to mention Volvo, SAAB and ABBA!
I guess I have to settle for:
1. Something had to be done, and they did something and for some reason it actually worked even if they didn't really do something serious.
2. This part of the forum apparently will stay here because for some reason it "works" (God knows why) even if it ihmo it basically sends the message "yeah, go ahead and suggest fun stuff, for fun, but it's just for fun and fills nu purpose whatsoever although we might, just might look at it even if it's just for fun, but hey... It's just for ...fun"...
Oh, well... Just for fun:
...I still think it's a bad idea to have it in the "For Fun" section!
I'm sorry you weren't here to see that things actually did change for the better since the move. It's far from perfect, but it is better.
The devs aren't ignoring us tho. They are listening and sifting thru ideas for the ones they want to implement.
Several things that were suggested here after the move have been put into the game. The upcoming email filter in I16 is one of the most recent.
I'm sure others can give you a more thorough list cuz there's a lot of changes I don't pay attention to.
Edit: As to the part about expecting you to know things that happened. It was made a little out of frustration with you because I was getting the impression that no matter what any of us said, you seem determined to disbelieve that we did see an improvement and that the devs aren't ignoring this section of the forums just because it's listed under "For Fun". I apologise for the snarkiness of that comment. -
Quote:YES! And we could finally use the SG team/raid teleporter for something./allofthis.
I was somewhat disappointed to see there was no link between AE and the Mission Computer, at the least. I've got one mission out there that, while generally well received by even non SG members who have played it, is really one of our RPs altered for AE playability. Having something like that "stored" in the mission computer, at the very least, would be nice. (Though I do acknowledge the various difficulties, including monitoring for exploit-using farms, this would entail.)
I don't believe any of my heroside SGs have the mission computer - and I've seen a lot of good ideas about the sorts of things it can be used FOR. I'd love to see an SG-centric issue (not just bases) at some point, where the mission computer is put more to use, more stuff is gotten by playing in SG mode (and, even more SG-centric, playing with other SG members, though I again realize the difficulties for single person to small SGs,) and more. -
Quote:I agree it would be a better inf sink if the exchange rate was better.(Side note, I'd also like to see the inf
res conversion rate looked at. It's pitiful - then again, with people making "billions" on the market and via purple/PVP IOs, I'm sure some would consider it "just fine" since it can act as an INF sink - ignoring, of course, that it seems almost nobody uses it because the rate's so bad.)
-
I don't mind some items like a weapon, a hat, a shield, etc being unlockable but others (Samurai armor, Roman armor) should be account wide. And for the record I never liked costume pieces as vet rewards.
I waited until Valentines day to make a Roman character so the character could at least have a toga, sandals, and headpiece when he was created. -
Quote:No, it's not the only reason needed. Questions like this should always be taken in the context for how it affects other players and the long-term health and playability of the game.
I hope the OP very seriously considers this. I'd rather be bumped out of the top 100 entirely than to spend one red cent on prestige. The simple fact is that as soon as it becomes an issue of money, then the only meaning having a #1 ranking (or any ranking at all, for that matter) is how much money you're willing to spend for the dubious "privilege."
Consider this. What makes you think you deserve that #1 slot? You admit that your membership has dwindled, and your SG isn't as active as many others are. On what moral authority do you think that some other SG that is active with a larger membership should show up lower in that list that your tiny little group trying to hang onto its last vestige of virtual glory?
No, you shouldn't be able to buy prestige. Just suck it up and let a more deserving group have the spot. Even better, be gracious about it, and congratulate them for the amount of activity they have. If it's really that important to you, consider even joining them.
Personally, I don't use prestige as an indicator of how good or bad a supergroup is. To me, it's how active they are and how much a part of the community they are. By those measures, I don't need some number. The actions of their members and how they carry themselves when we're teaming or hanging out is all I need.
Wow. Leave it to TonyV to convince me that converting influence into prestige isn't a bad idea.
Of course that doesn't mean RMT transactions shouldn't be banned. Anyone dealing with those creeps sghould be burned alive. -
Quote:Since your the only member of the SG you really don't need the Supergroup channel on your main tabs in your chatbox. There are two simple choices you can choose from that will resolve this "problem".I have a small supergroup (I'm the only member) and I like it that way because management is simple. However, monthly base upkeep is a constant pain. It seems like I always have a reminder that it's overdue or coming up or something. I can't stand it.
Can't we ask to be able to pay that in advance or set it up on an auto-pay system at least? I'm sure the technology of Paragon City can handle a little direct debit...
1. Create a new tab and put the SG channel along with any other channels you like that you only check periodically, and toggle to it when you want to see the information.
2. Or you can simply delete the SG channel altogether from all of your chatbox tabs. You can pay rent when the power goes out. -
Quote:I know it doesn't explain anything but I think it goes hand in hand with the people that interpret disagreemant and negative feedback with their suggestion as a personal attacks. When it was in Development people were acting as though anything suggested in this forum was guaranteed to happen (who knows, maybe they really thought it was)
In "For Fun!" it is clear that these are PLAYER suggestions and they are not guaranteed to happen. Being in Development implied that the devs were getting personally involved in it.
Personally I can't wrap my brain aroud the mindset that would see things that way, but apparently a lot of people DID see it that way. -
Quote:Did you forget that you already quoted this post above? And I see someones prejudices are showing.Passing judgement? Uh, what? Is this the old Bush-style "If you're not with us.." bite the head off anything that moves and don't wear an american flag on their shorts?

Your question has been answered by several people. The fact that you can't accept the answer is your problem.Quote:I was simply wondering why this is under the "for fun" section and I still fail to see how it could possibly improve by just moving it from a "serious" section to an out-of-topic, non-game related area.
Yes when people disagree with your suggestion imply that it's personal rather than accept that the idea itself is flawed and there is no need for change.Quote:Or have the stupid, evil European missed something?
Now... seriously: If that IS the reason, I'm really worried!
City-Life was much better at this than you are.
Maybe you'll feel better if you neg rep me.
Edit: There ya go. Do you feel better now? -
Quote:Hint hint: I already posted before that YOU WEREN"T HERE for the fiasco that got this section moved. In fact you quoted me saying that you weren't here 6 or 7 threads above, or did you forget you made that quote.
Oh, yeah, I was on the US forum 2 years ago! Um... Wait! I'm a swede! I play on the EU servers! I drive SAAB and Volvo and listen to ABBA all day! You know, the old, civil world!
Hint, Hint: Signature!
Edit: Way to go pulling a Homer Simpson. -
Quote:The irony is the OP doesn't get that he is spamming this thread.
At this point, your suggestion belongs in the suggestion forum anyway. Oh wait.. it's already been posted there several times.
1. He's posting in the wrong section.
2. He got his answer but won't let it go. -
Quote:Yes. You don't need to rebuy the game, just the in-game item pack for Good vs Evil which you can get from the NCSoft store and apply to your account instantly.
Do you realize that buying the item pack is more expensive than buying the GvE edition?
You get $15.00 off your sub fee when you get the complete edition, and if you buy the box game from Amazon or at a discount store the box is cheaper than the item pack. -

Quote:So a move from one section to another made people calm down? Just because it's way down in the list? Ohgod, I'm loosing even more faith in humanity!

Seriously, I just think it's a very, very bad signal to put something as potentially useful as "suggestions and ideas" in a "For fun" section. If such a move really made such a big change we have a much more serious problem with the forums. Oh, wait, everybody knew that already?
As for me, I don't care since the "for fun" part of the forum is all I bother with nowadays - and hardly even that. Life's a lot easier without the forums I've recently learned!
If you really feel this strongly about this you should have spoke up when it actually happened. It's too late now to worry about the message that was sent 2 years ago. -

Quote:In most cases clear rules are great. This however is one of the gray areas where there are too many people that would use the information to see just how much they can get away with.Really? I would think clear rules are a good thing. I know that this issue is on a greyscale. I'd just think that knowing the criterias the GMs judge by. It seems more than one player in the could use this clearer rulebook. Mind you, I'm not talking about some small costume detail here. I'm thinking, like someone said in another thread about reporting these guys as a player, the three strike rule. "Bio, name, costume, if two are blatantly in violation I'd report them". While this isn't my personal standpoit I can understand players but shouldn't GMs have strickter guidelines?
//Jack
The GM's are pretty good at what they do because I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen/heard of them making a copyright generic mistake. -
Quote:And it's the players that play at home who are most likely to be careless with their account security and allow things like this to happen. While I completely agree the that having to relog each time I want to change characters is vaguely annoying I completely understand and agree with the security concerns that feature exists to address.
I don't play in an environment where the chance somebody could gain access to my characters against my wishes is very likely. But from a pure computer security point of view I'd rather live with a very minor annoyance like this (I can typically relog characters in less than a minute) than to hear about people constantly crying in the forums about how their various "little brothers" nuked their characters every other day.
Something happens in RL and the player steps away to take care of it because they'll "be right back" and in that moment of carelessness Jr, brother or sis, angry BF/GF is on the account messing things up or even getting the account banned.

Quote:I love playing kin defender and /kin trollers, but "SB plz" is driving me up the wall. I have the binds set up and all, but its still a hassle to keep running around and speed boosting everyone while what I really want to do is to fight and be awesome with fulcrum shift/siphon power/siphon speed etc
Maybe I am just selfish, but if SB was nerfed to either last longer (it could well be nerfed to provide a small benefit as well, I don't care much about that) or affect more people (like RA), I would be very happy.
What do others think? Is this a common opinion? Would your life be easier if SB lasted longer?
"SB Plz!""
I have actually avoided buying the Magic pack because I have started to hear "Fortune plz!" and that scares me to be forced to not only be a coffee machine but an astrology vending thing as well :-)
I wish that they'd give us the ability to block SB when it gets cast on us. I'd prefer being able to set it so it could be blocked like we can do with teleports, but I'd settle for something similar to how we can refuse Mystic Fortune or ignore it and it doesn't affect us if we don't accept it in a few seconds. -
Which is kind of stupid because if you buy the GvE edition you get a free months game time added in which reduces the cost of the game to $4.99 (or $2.99 if he buys it from Amazon as Nova suggested) which is cheaper than the item pack, and the OP wants to spend as little as possible.
