Quote:Not even close. This ranks up there with the guy that wanted the devs to lower the monthly sub fee to ten buck a month because he was disabled and couldn't afford $15 bucks each month, and he wasn't willing to change what he spent on gambling and porn. That ranks right up there with the guy who tried to get full re-specifications through customer service then threatened to tell every major news site and spam the forum with his story of "bad customer service" when he didn't get what he wanted. Seriously, I didn't think anybody was gonna top that or even get close... and now we have this thread.
He actually posted his budget and listed his monthly porn and gambling expenses. -
Quote:Please show your evidence that supports your outrageous claim. We want to see the reports that were generated by an unbiased third party company that conducted the marketing research which confirms that people are saying they would buy this game if only they had access to all the vet reward powers.Giving the powers as an option to obtain to newer players isn't going to hurt anyone or ruin the game for the people that have them.
We even want to see the reports that show people are refusing to buy this game because they don't have access to the vet reward powers. -

Here's the thing. There are very few things the devs have come right out and told us flat out, "No. This will never be allowed in the game." The full respec is at the top of that list.
Right after that they told us that we were lucky they decided to let us pull 10 enhancements from a build when doing a respec. In their opinion 10 was being generous.
As FW said, they never said it was too hard to do, they said they refuse to do it. Big difference.
Don't get discouraged about making other suggestions tho. You just happened to stumble on one of the few things that will never happen. -
Quote:For the record, I ALREADY HAVE up to the 69-month mark, I just think it would be a good idea to let the new players have a chance to at least get the costumes, powers, and such so that they can use them on the off-chance that we see CoH II (or some such) and this game winds up being no longer supported. I would rather see everyone in the game have fun with these powers now than have them be a reward for service. Your mileage may vary (And it does, judging by the rep hits I'm getting from this thread.
).
I posted this in another vet reward thread up in player questions partly in jest but since this is the suggestions thread I'll toss it in here as well.
So here's my idea if the devs decide to end the vet reward system. I've also added a few things since then.
The 10 year mark would be a nice round anniversary. End it all with a special reward.
Permanent unique title: Old Fart <you've been around forever. They just can't get rid of you>
Emote: Get off my lawn!
Emote: Rocking Chair
Extra costume slot with a unique non-customizable 10 yr vet costume.
Temp power: Boring Stories - This power when activated puts people in it's AoE to sleep as the players character starts telling stories about how kids today have it easy fighting crime. Because when he was young he had to fight crime uphill, in the snow, both ways.
Social Security: a 1% increase bonus to Influence/Infamy, Prestige, and Experience to all characters.
Medicare: A 1% Health and Stamina bonus to all characters.
Players have to choose between Social Security or Medicare. A character can't have both. -

Seriously though, it boggles my brain that these AE babies can endure the same mindless repetitive mission over and over and over and over and over and over and .............*slips into a coma*
*wakes up*......over and over and over and again.
This looks like the appropriate place to post these links again.

Quote:I'm mainly going by what I remember being discussed from an older thread suggesting the same thing as the OP. They explained events that occurred before and during the first Rikti invasion, and it had to do with CoT and Rikti.I think they didn't build any subways at all, on Statesman's word, hence all the trams.
I'll admit I could easily be misremembering things, and it would be nice if someone who is up on the subject could confirm or deny my vague recollections. -

It doesn't matter if you were replying to another poster. You said it. You put your own spin on it in an effort to make it fit your point of view. Therefore it is your analogy. Just because it blew up in your face doesn't mean you can pretend it wasn't your argument. -
Quote:I think it means that he's been globally ignored by at least 693 people.
Shopped!
I can tell by the pixels and having seen a shop or two in my day. Does that mean there were 693 people online (and not on hide) that DON'T want to team with you?
Oh and that pic has obviously been shopped. Even I can spot it. -

So 200 slots on one server would be okay with you?
And money rule$?
If you have all that phat loot, get a second account and you can buy and fill up 36 more character slots on that server as well.
Heck, buy another computer and team with yourself. Buy 7 more accounts and fill up all those 36 character slots - and 7 more computers and make a full team with just yourself.
Are you really that scared of the other servers?
You are scared of them, aren't you?
Xenophobe.
I bet you are scared of chatting on channels except for supergroup, team, tells, and private global channels as well.
[Getting under your skin? Wake up call!]
2 character slots $9.99Quote:Seriously, I somehow think it would be cheaper just to transfer characters that you aren't going to play much to other servers, make your new characters on your "home" server, and then transfer characters around if you want to play them on your "home" server.
1 server transfer $9.99
5 character slots $19.99
5 server transfers $49.95
Sorry Alt but your math is way off.
So here you even admit a simple server transfer could easily cost more than buying additional slots.Quote:Will you loose your name? Maybe.
This has absolutely nothing to do with adding more slots per server.Quote:With i17 you will be able to e-mail inf and items to yourself - globally - which means that any characters that you have "parked" on another server, can still craft and send stuff back to your characters on your home server.
Quote:Somehow I see extra slots on one server to be a boon for exploiters.
Yeah Alt definitely needs to up the dosage on his thorazine.Quote:They definitely would be for the xenophobic.
There is life on the other servers - and, apparently, you have plenty of free slots on all of the other ones - you're just too scared to use them ... or is it time to buck up and be a hero?
Bust outta that shell. -
Quote:I can see why you chose 99, but if they ever do decide to end it I'd prefer they do it on an anniversary number like 7 years, 8 years, 10 years than stop in the middle of a yearly cycle.I picked 99 because it's divisible by 3 and the last number before going into triple digits. (It would also be kind of neat if they stopped at 100 months, but I don't want to ask them to redo the reward scheduling code again.
)
Also, your "old fart" suggestions made me laugh.
End it with a bang. Make a big deal out of the last one. Have fun with it. -
Quote:Eight and a quarter years? Nah. 96 months would be better. 8 years even, or the 10 year mark for a nice round anniversary. End it all with a special reward.I've long held that 99 months would be a good stopping point

Quote:The only sense of entitlement being displayed is by the people that are demanding things they didn't earn. The sense of entitlement displayed by (typically) 60+ month veterans never ceases to amaze me.
Me personally no, but yes the reason this game is a continued success is the fact that it has so many loyal veteran players. All MMO's are successful because of their loyal veteran players.Quote:You seem to think you're the reason this game exists. Your posts certainly convey that tone. -
Quote:So you want to punish the people that have shown themselves to be loyal customers because you haven't been a vet as long as they have?I'm advocating for a cap to Veteran's Reward - the cessation of adding new rewards.
I fail to see how that gets me anything "now".

Quote:Not positive about this, but may be related.
The original devs imagined that big teams would be running around doing missions, then, on the way to the next mission, all street sweep together to the next mission.
They didnt foresee that teams would just ignore missions(and story, content) altogether, and just street sweep, so they ended up incorporating mission bonus xp to move folks into missions(Thus having the playerbase ignore other created content such as hazard zones...).
So, if I had to guess, they probably imagined that people would street sweep between the tram lines...
Considering who was in charge back then and some of the comments that his new dev team said about one of the problems Champions had and one of the problams STO is currently having, I'd say your statement is very accurate.
See a few months ago when people were complaining about the content gaps in Champions their devs said they never expected players would use their travel powers to hop from mission to mission. They expected that everyone would stay on the ground and slug their way slowly thru hundreds of spawns, and doing so would provide the players the exp needed to level up thru and past the content gaps.
STO is also having the same problem being content lite with the exception that in that game the random encounters are all instanced "Deep Space Encounters".
End result is that everyone knows that a certain developer never learns from his mistakes. -

Quote:According to game lore there used to be underground trains and I believe they shut them all down because of CoT incursions. You know those missions that tell us to board a train and go to destinations not normally found on the game map? To the best of my memory, all exit onto an outdoor playing field.
I'd like for the devs to consider adding mission station destinations that are underground or within the basements of buildings. I've ridden several real life rail transports that have such destinations. Some even with mini shopping malls adjacent to the rails.
I'm sure some of our historians can correct me if I'm wrong, and/or provide more details. -
Quote:The same can be said for the vets who patiently waited and earned their 66 months of vet rewards. So changing the system so you can get the stuff they waited for now would be grossly unfair to them.Yes. One day I will die. I can only reach the end of infinity with infinite time. I know that I do not have infinite time. Therefore, I will never reach the end of infinite rewards.
That's just basic math.
Thank you for providing the argument that supports why the system should never be changed. -
Quote:<-- Started on Pinn. It and Victory are home.
And I'll point out my last sentence there, again - might not get it, but I won't say they're wrong to feel that way. Don't have to defend yourself to me, if it makes you happy to stay mostly on one server, go nuts.
Just to clarify, I myself wouldn't remain on just one server. However regardless of whatever limit the devs choose to give us (except unlimited) I would strive to fill it.
The reason I have 2 accounts is because I can't fit more characters on my preferred servers, and the ability to do things without nvolving third parties. -
Quote:They can add another row of slots without giving us any slots for free you know. They could add as many rows as they want. You'd just have to buy the extra slots like you do now.Do you want the Devs to give us more slots ? If they do that , how do they make money ? And how many more slots would be enough ?

And as to how many slots is enought . . . I have over 100 characters spread across 2 accounts. How many do you think would be on the same server if I hadn't run out of room. -
Quote:I pretty much agree with everything but I'm in the make them global camp.It makes them "non anniversary badges." Yeah, I dislike having them available to be gotten "after the fact." Might as well just make craftable badges that mean nothing more than you crafted the badge.
Won't argue with making them global. I *personally* like not having them global, even though it's a pain if you have a lot of characters, as I like using them generally as a "This character was around then," but I can see others arguments for it.
Of course, combining the two can give an interesting bit of glimpse into an account's history - 30 months with the first, second, and sixth anniversary, for instance, would be different from thirty with the fifth and sixth. *shrug*
Will always disagree with having them purchaseable. -
Quote:Plenty of reasons.
People adding rooms as they earn enough prestige for them, and not wanting/knowing how to move existing rooms.
People who can't design a base to save their lives.
People trying to squeeze as many rooms as possible into a smaller plot, resulting in a need to play room Tetris.
People who value form over function.
Let's not forget about the base designers priorities. A person who rarely uses teleporters isn't going to care about putting them in an easily accessible location. He or she is going to build the base according to his/her idea of what's important.
Your needs aren't going to be the same as mine and we both may not agree with someone building a base for a huge group.
