Oh and since you are apparently unaware of how to use the Search Feature . . .

That's so devastating clever that my mind struggles in its attempt to form a sentence that adequately describes it. Sure, you could post it right now, but...

Humor me for but a moment. Let's take a look at the rules:

    [ QUOTE ]
    4. Know the search function. Use the search function.

Before you ask a question, please check the “Important Information” section of the message boards and the Customer Service Knowledge Base. If your answer is not there, please use the “Search” function located at the top of every page of the boards. Your question may have already been asked and answered elsewhere on the forums. Look in the Player Questions, Dev Digest, Developers Corner, and Guides sections as well!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now that, my friend, is a nice piece of advice. I know your idea is so original, but... it wouldn't hurt to check to see if someone beat you to the punch.

Now, how do you use this "Search Function?" Well, there's the tricky part. The search function itself is a product of a world of demons: a dimension in which Kafkaesque nightmares maraud through the minds of its inhabitants. To use it, you will have to master multivariable calculus in Navajo. And some quantum physics, but that'll breeze by after four semesters of Navajo.

"But Ostrakon, that's too hard! Clearly, its difficulty absolves me from having to follow the rules, allowing me to post the fourth thread about power customization today!"

Yeah, you would say that. Well, kiddo, I'm not letting you off the hook. But it's okay, I learned the Navajo so you won't have to.

Let me introduce you to Ostrakon's new and improved search function. You can thank me later.

Yeah, that's right. You can use Google to search the CoX boards. You know how to use Google, right? Just keep the "site:boards.cityofheroes.com" tag in the link above, and add your idea after a space. Hit the "search" button. Ka-zam! You'll find exactly what you're looking for!

Sometimes it helps to add quotes to what you're searching for. For example, you might be searching for "power customization" or "Pyre Mastery for Scrappers".

See? It works great, and it's pretty darn easy to use.

Wanna take your chances and submit without searching? I wouldn't. The new mods, Koschej and Niviene, have actually been enforcing rules lately. Constantly regurgitated idea threads will likely be next.

Let's put it this way. Take a d20. (That's a twenty-sided die, in case you didn't know.) Roll it. Did it spontaneously combust in a blaze of white fire?

I'm guessing not. The odds that your idea is actually original are roughly the same as rolling a d20 and having it come up "deific flames." Which is pretty low, to say the least.

    Know the search function.

    Use the search function.

'Cause you don't have an excuse anymore.

This thread just happens to be stickied by the Mods for everyone to use in this very section of the forums.

Glad I could be of help.

    You're welcome.

This is a suggestion. He is asking if it is possible for the devs to implement a feature that will auto check for total respec suggestions and block it from being posted.

At no point did Coyote address you or attack you in any way.

Wrong. Just as you can post this suggestion as many times as you like we can respond in those very same threads and tell you to

    1. Learn to search.
    2. The devs said no.

and as long as we follow the forum rules and guidelines there's not a thing you can do to stop us.
  3. In January the devs gave us free server transfers so we could get our characters in order for the upcoming release of GR. We were able to transfer 6 characters per week for several weeks.

That being said the devs may very well increase the number of characters allowed per server. I sure could use the extra space.

Just for clarification, I'm only repeating what another poster suggested in a similar thread. I think it was Steampunkette, but if I'm wrong I apologize to the original creator.

    1. Yes actually you did start it because you openly admitted that you have no regard for how often a suggestion has been discussed before posting, and you have no intention of using the search tools.

    2. This is an open forum and you have no authority to dictate who posts in a thread you start nor what they choose to say. If you aren't mature enough to deal with criticism then you should refrain from posting till you grow up, or you should make use of the ignore feature the forums provide.

Then you have no right expecting anyone to care about your feelings when they respond to your posts. You get back what you give. So if you come here with an attitude your going to get it back in full measure.

    Deal with it.

    let em...
Just rename the badges to "I'm an idiot with too much money" for each one.

Then the rest of us can just point and laugh at them.
I liked someone else's idea. Sure allow them to buy the vet reward perks but they would have to buy each one in chronological order, and the money spent wouldn't count toward their subscription fee nor would they get the badges.

So if some impatient clown with too much money in his wallet wants to buy the 60 month reward he has to buy the 3 month rewards first, then the 6 month rewards, then the 9, 12, 15, etc until he has paid for everything prior to the 60 month reward.

In particular quivers (like jetpacks, another common request) run into problems due to the fact that character's backs are not all in the same place so for some bodies they end up getting partially buried in the character's back. Scabbards run into similar issues where certain leg based animations can cause clipping as can characters with wide hips and armored tops.

A work around some people use for RP sessions is to get weapon based temp powers and use those.

Oh i see now. I misread what he was asking for. My bad.
  10. Maybe you are unaware of this but every single character has access to both the pistol and the police baton that appear on the PD Officer Belt regardless of archetype, and power-sets. Players merely have to do what is required to get them.

The pistol is a temp power recipe, and the police baton is a day job rechargeble temp power.

    Police Chief Accolade

Baton Baton Power: Melee Minor DMG (Smashing) Foe Stun

Your authority gained from working in both law enforcement and for the city government has earned you usage of a Baton. Foes struck in melee combat with this weapon will suffer minor damage, but each strike has a high chance of disorienting the target.

Additional uses of this power can be earned by logging out in either City Hall or a Police Station. Damage: Minor, Recharge: Very Fast

    See also: Temp Power: Revolver
    Salvage required: Polycarbon, Boresight

  15. Check your master account to see if you are showing an Aion account. NCSoft has a security bug they've been downplaying that gives people access to another customers account when they try to login to their own account. So it's possible someone set up an account posing as you.

I know I do!
Exactly what is this "traditional" way you speak of? I know of no such animal. Base builders design bases based on what they personally feel is important and that varies from person to person.

I've been mentioning the floor tile idea in threads every couple of months for years. At the very least just give us a bottom side to the large white floor tile. But what I would love to see them do is reskin that floor tile with the normal base ceiling and floor patterns so we can build levels that aren't obvious when looked at. It would make secret/concealed rooms much easier to make.

  20. While I wouldn't mind the ability to change a few of my SG names (Ones I inherited) I'm gonna take the other side for the sake of discussion.

    Quote:
SGs carry names forward that can become simply inappropriate to their members.

    1. Many if not most SG's are comprised of many members and they may not agree with changing the name.

    2. People also get into stupid, petty arguments and someone in authority might use a name change to anger another party. Hell the forums has already seen one person who decided to quit the game and he kicked every member out of his large SG and deleted everything just because he could and he wanted to be a jerk.

    3. Sometimes real life issues interfere with game play and leadership may fall to someone that isn't as trustworthy as members thought and being able to change the name would mean he could kick everyone and steal the SG and all it's aquired loot for himself.

    Quote:
It takes a long, long time to build a base when there's only a few, or even one, active member.
No it doesn't. Building up an SG is only as difficult as the SG members choose make it. This game has an overabundence of Inf which can easily be converted to prestige.

    Quote:
We shouldn't have to abandon the old SG and its base just to gain a name change: we never get all that prestige back, or the stored goodies on the cluttered shelves.

Now this is just a flat out falsehood. You don't need to abandon an SG because you don't like the name anymore.

An SG can easily be used as a secure bank/storage facility and members can each leave a single character in it to serve as bankers/mules. You can use the email system to safely transfer things into and out of storage while the new SG is being built up.

People also regularly buy and sell SG's to other players. Sometimes they even hold sales here on the forums. Simply sell the damn thing and use the Inf to buy prestige for you new SG.

Edit: Deleted following incorrect statement "Hell a storage SG doesn't even have any rent because storage bins don't incur a rent fee."

  22. I just watched the video and all I saw was what looked like the visual effect of a power that was activated. The gloves weren't glowing when the scene started. They started glowing after the fight began. It looked like a defense power of some sort in response to the hero attacking.

Power Customization isn't just for players. The devs can use it when they make new opponents.
  23. I think we're better off that the OP quit. I can just imagine how he'd be overreacting when he logs in or out and sees the game updating because new stuff was added to the game. Like the update they do when a new issue is going to be released.

No. The email feature is a minor QoL that is nice to have but wasn't necessary to play the game. It doesn't encourage or discourage hoarding, it just removes the necessity of involving third parties, or activating a second account.

If you wanted to dispute my argument you should have accused me of debating Base Storage capacity because each base can have up to 18 enhancement storage bins which can each hold 100 enhancements for a total hoarding capacity of 1800. And players can have as many bases as they have characters.

I think it's obvious that your worried that the devs may decide to implement a more permanent equipment binding feature.
