Glad to see Fleeting was on the ball to explain how to reduce the windowscale. My bad for not thinking of including an explanation how to reduce it in my post.

Quote:While I do understand what you are saying, my suggestion is more of something to aid those who can't afford to play the game for short periods of time. I am one such person, as in order to even be able to afford to play this game I'd have to get a second Job, and putting that with my first job as well as schooling then I might as well not be paying at will.
With all due respect I'm sorry but it isn't hard to put aside $15. each month to pay for this game. Speaking as someone who is unemployed and living on a disabilities fixed income, I know what I'm talking about. It's just a matter of cutting back on non-essentials. Cut back on eating out, go to movies less, spend less on partying, buy cheaper bulk/generic groceries. If you're still coming up short try selling your plasma. I do it and I live in a fairly small town. I get $25 per visit. Not only will you make some extra cash but you'll be helping to save lives. -

Supply and demand doesn't work like the OP thinks. -
Not only can we move the level/health indicators around, we can also reduce their size to make it smaller and less obtrusive. I usually reduce mine to 80%.

notice the first game on the page?Sorry, but you are once again incorrect. I was merely reporting what Black Pebble himself told us. You know Black Pebble, the Redname from CoH Marketing.Quote:He was right.. You were wrong..
My forums? Hardly. I don't even browse 1% of the threads so I could never attempt to lay claim to ownership.Quote:Oh my someone is Trampling all over Forbin_Project forums.
As I said before and will probably have to repeat more than once in this response to you Black Pebble the CoH Marketing Brand Manager told us in a post he made up in the News, Events & Announcement section.Quote:As you mentioned in another thread.. How do you know..
No. Never claimed I did.Quote:You pay the bills for the company ?
No. Never claimed I did.Quote:You work for gamestop advertisement department / billing dept ?
Funny you should say that. While it wasn't a secret message and it wasn't a Dev. It was BLACK PEBBLE from COH MARKETING who publicly posted on these very forums the excerpts which I quoted.Quote:Devs sent you a secret message ?

Today, we announced a new promotion with GameStop and Razer. For those of you who may not have seen this information, customers who place an early reserve for the City of Heroes Going Rogue: Complete Collection at GameStop will receive a Razer Sphex gaming desktop skin with a Going Rogue design, five unique enhancements and a $5 off coupon for use at the Razer store. These benefits are in limited quantities.
I would like to take this time to provide some insight as to how this initiative came about.
Why Now?
When we launched the prepurchase program, we did not plan on offering incentives for preordering the Complete Collection. A preorder program is different from a prepurchase, and we did not see a value in offering competing programs.
Since we launched our prepurchase program, we have been having discussions with GameStop, Razer and some of our other partners about new ways to promote the launch of Going Rogue. As some of you have mentioned, as a new expansion for a major MMO, Going Rogue deserves a lot of attention. We agree with you, and so did our partners. But evaluating ideas and nailing down the details took a good amount of time, which is why you havent heard about it until now.
Why Are We Doing This?
As you probably know, GameStop is the top gaming-focused retailer in the US. When they expressed interest in putting together this new program, it felt like a great way to get the word out on Going Rogue and to make sure every GameStop store in the country was promoting our launch.
Fine, but what about people who dont have a GameStop nearby, or dont shop there? Thats where Razer comes in. As part of the GR launch, Razer will be launching their own GR site, promoting CoH in all of their forums, newsletters, providing a coupon for GR customers and even designing a brand new mouse pad with our help.
So we decided to pool our resources to create one powerful marketing campaign, designed to create an opportunity that seemed so interesting that someone who doesnt yet play CoH would be interested enough to try this game.Translation: Plainguy doesn't know how to use the search feature. Otherwise he would have found the thread where Black Pebble made the post that I took excerpts pertaining to this discussion from. He made the post on 05-28-2010, 05:07 PMQuote:your just speculating something from some quote you pulled from somewhere that you even failed to link so others can find it.
Re: Discussion: New Gamestop/Razer Going Rogue Promotion

It also appears that plainguy doesn't know that he could have simply left-clicked on Black Pebbles name and selected option three from the drop down window that reads "Find More Posts by Black Pebble"

If you think the marketing promotion with Gamestop and Razer is limited to the CoH playerbase then you really don't know what advertising is.Quote:You know silly me I always though ADVERTISING was suppose to be for people who didn't know about an item or product.
Already done. Just read Sharker's response where he did exactly what you request and provided links to prove it, and Black Pebble already explained in his post.Quote:unless you can actually prove they paid for advertising or can find City of Heroes on gamestop without typing in City of Heros, going rogue.
In the future plainguy it would bolster your position if you did some research before posting. With only the slightest effort Sharker and I were able to blow battleship sized holes in your argument. Doing research will not give you cooties.
Looking forward to your next attempt to derail the thread -

Quote:I can't resist this.Newsflash: using in-game features for their intended purpose is not abusing those features.

Unfortunately there was a 30 day time limit so using your logic they weren't using the feature as the devs intended.
That was fun.
I'm glad that the devs changed their minds on this and extended the time limit to 60 days. Hopefully they'll see fit to remove it completely in the future. -
Yeah only a complete moron would be concerned someone might have hacked his account while it was supposed to be inactive and used it for things that might get his account banned.

Quote:No. The restrictions are different in different parts of the world based on the amount of credit card fraud. In South America they can't buy directly from the NCSoft store. In the US one of the limits NCSoft uses is the amount we can charge to our card in 30 days.I don't know if this is true. Just last week, I re-activated my main account, bought the mutant pack for it, re-activated my second account, bought the science and natural booster for that; and then accidentally purchased the wedding pack for it too (which I had already had on it). It would have been nice if it did cut me off from buying the last pack. Anyway, back to the point, if there is a limit, it's more than 6 transactions.

That was a major screwup
Sometime after they merge the server lists so EU and NA players can play together.Quote:Now when are we getting the ability to send from EU to US characters? (the final frontier) -

Quote:Is there a SG on Victory (or, I'd consider paying for a transfer) that is regularly active, large size, and welcomes new members? Raid content would be wonderful. Building a SG from scratch seems unlikely though because I can wander one side of the world to the other and see two to three players.
If you scroll down the forum a bit you'll see the server names. Those are the sections dedicated to each server and would be the best place to ask.
You might want to ask about the Repeat Offenders. They are a multi server group of players/SG's that have a good rep for being active. They may have something on Victory. -
I nominate Dark Respite be hired to make commercials for CoH.

The devs did give everyone that option. <rt-click, delete> You should try using it rather than trolling the forums looking for imaginary insults to get upset about.

Quote:My link above clearly does not show COH listed for advertising. Yet again you post a skewed look in your favor and blame someone else..
Reading comprehension, get some.
All I said in that post is that they are advertising it on one of the biggest gamestores there is, and provided a direct link to the advertisement.Quote:Oh look advertising on one of the biggest game stores there is.
http://www.gamestop.com/browse/searc...%20of%20heroes
Nothing I posted there was false and at no point in that post did I blame anything on anyone.
Maybe you should stick to trolling Power. He's more your speed. -
Quote:Well my first post was just meant to point out that Marketing is in fact doing something, and Gamestop/Razer combined have pretty wide coverage. They aren't doing nothing.Definitely, but that doesn't change that I'm pretty sure you guys were talking about two very different things.
The second post was to point out that what they are doing is in their opinion an advertising campaign, and with Black Pebbles post they are keeping us in the loop.
I'll take your word on all that. Math was never my strong point. Throw numbers and variables at me and my eyes start glazing over.Quote:That said, I haven't looked that closely at the different offers they are doing through the various vendors, but I imagine they are all fairly similar. Extrapolating meaningful data out of the sales records will be a challenge to say the least. One will first have to eliminate such variables as the vendor itself, which is an extremely difficult task to do with enough accuracy to proclaim the relative value much beyond red, or black.
I doubt they are doing any tracking and analysis that is in-depth enough to determine the relative success of each different GR offer at each different vendor. That requires a very strong marketing department and/or a lot of resources dedicated to the task. If PS marketing had that on hand I think they would be doing a lot more marketing. I know we like to bag on the marketing department, but I'm pretty sure the deficiency is caused by it being the "pvp of departments" within the company, which is to say - neglected. -
Quote:Now that's not a bad alternative. They could drop into your tray the same way the winter event temp powers do when a present is opened. And if you already have the power you get nothing.I don't mind them being common as they were obviously introduced with the intention of being readily available at all times (for many of them) and somewhat available for the rest.
Common doesn't have to equate to prolific though. They drop so much that any sense of urgency to craft and use them is removed.
On the other hand if they are intended to be used frequently perhaps they could cut the recipe drop rate in half and have the other half drop as pre-crafted and ready to use right away. That way we still get spammed by temp powers, but they are spread out between your recipe bin and your available powers.
I know my character is far more likely to use a box of grenades I find in a mission compared to finding the schematic for a box of grenades that I need to take to specialty provider and have them create for me.
They're still free and it solves the recipe issue. I like it. -
Hold on. Power's suggestion was easy to read and legible. That's all we can really ask from anyone. As long as I don't get an aneurysm trying to make sense of his suggestions I can settle for simply disagreeing with the ones I don't like.

Quote:It's not just Gamestop.Pretty sure you guys are talking about two different things.
Houtex was talking about the listing not being a form of marketing, which is true. It is a fine line though. If they paid to be a featured item on the listing it would be marketing. However, just a standard placement probably doesn't qualify.
You are talking about the gamestop offer attached to that listing being a form of marketing, which is true.
However, it isn't until you click a level further on the game stop site where it describes the gamestop offer and links you to a cox video.
By advertising thru both companies Marketing will be able to see exactly how successful the advertising was by looking at how many people bought the game from them and then decide if it was worth it.Quote:As part of the GR launch, Razer will be launching their own GR site, promoting CoH in all of their forums, newsletters, providing a coupon for GR customers and even designing a brand new mouse pad with our help. -
Quote:Let's see the datamining you had a reputable unbiased third party company do that proves that only a few people want the temporary power recipes.I didn't say get rid of them from the game I said make them recipes you can buy instead of drops. That way the few people that want them can buy them at a fixed price.
This should be an easy no programing change.
You are not the elected playerbase representative, and you have no idea what everyone wants. You only speak for yourself.
Just because some people are too lazy to use their delete button once in a while isn't a valid reason for the devs to punish the rest of the playerbase by taking away some of their free drops. -
Quote:Yes it is, CoH marketing told us this is their advertising campaign. That's not advertising, that's product listing. Kinda big difference. Go find me a banner ad, you.
Next time do some research before you post.Quote:Originally Posted by Black Pebble
