Exactly. And because 99% of the players will turn off the "@thisnamelooks stupid", they aren't going to try to find out if the jerk that Ironblade (just using you as an example) saw mouthing off is "Johnny Butane@Mandu" or "Johnny Butane@Johnny_Butane". They are just going to ignore any character named Johnny Butane.

There are some solid names that will never be used again by long dead inactive accounts of ex-customers who will never return and I see no reason in keeping it that way. That's all.
If it is a hassle and costs too many resources, then it's not worth it. I just doubt (standard code rant) that it's that costly. I could be wrong about that aspect though.

They made the name purge cap at... level 6 was it?
    That's silly, in my opinion.

I think a full level purge... even of 4 years, would definitely open up some names.

Of course... they'd probably be gobbled up by alt-crazy vets and rarely played... but still... it'd be fun for some while it lasted.

They already have a program they run that frees up names, and they can select the level range when they run it. The first time they did it, it was set up to level 35. They told us after that most of the names that were freed up were much lower so they set the range lower the second time they ran it.

They can run that program whenever they want and raise or lower the range as needed. While I have no objection to them running the program, I was just commenting that some people (not necessarily you) may have unrealistic expectations about what will happen when it gets run.

I'll admitt that Australian timezones are rubbish, besides WoW (Needs to die off, or lose some fanbase) but honestly, i'm not so sure i want to play this game if i can't chat to a few people on the channel, see whats going on.

1 More question, anyone 25+ i think it is, i cannot see them under the team listings, is this a limitation or some sort of rule set inplace for lowbies unable to interact with anyone in the high levels?

Since GR went live a lot of people are over there running new low level characters so that's why you aren't seeing s many people in the regular game and fewer high level characters.

I'm also not sure if anyone has started running things like CC's in the GR zones yet. It may be too soon.

Super sidekicking has made it possible for 1 high level character to take up to 7 people as side kicks on high level missions so teams form a lot faster not having to balance the number of high and low level players for missions.

I just created this account since i quit a couple months after CoV was released, wanted to see whats been going on and whats happend, sadly, the limitations of the trial make it almost impossible to get any information ingame and basically ruins the 'MMO' feeling of it..
    For your convenience.

    Restrictions
    • Trial Accounts cannot email other players
    • Trial Accounts may not level past 14
    • Trial Accounts can only have 50k influence
    • Trial Accounts may not join global channels
    • Trial Accounts can only speak in
    • /local
    • /hc (the Help channel)
    • /team
    • Trial Accounts cannot invite players to team

    • Trial Accounts may not join SuperGroups.
    • Trial Accounts may not create Mission Architect arcs. They can not interface with the Architect Entertainment Stations. However, they can be invited onto a team that is running MA missions.

These restrictions are no worse than similar restrictions on other MMO's

    Another well known MMO

Just want to point out that you are making the assumption that a significant portion of the names on those inactive accounts are ones that players would actually want, as opposed to names like "sgfiller973", "asdf hjkl", or "RMTsite.com".

I have no doubt that people are deluding themselves on how many actual good names would be freed up.

You obviously haven't played a certain other super hero MMO because I've seen that exact situation happen several times. I've also watched numerous idiotic arguments break out between morons fighting over who chose the name first because one of them is acting like a jerkwad and giving the other a bad reputation.

  9. I think a buy back feature would be a great inf sink. Simply charge the player whatever the highest asking price is on the market if he wants to buy back something he sold at the vendor.

I have no sympathy for players with itchy clicking fingers. If they weren't rushing they wouldn't have made the mistake in the first place.

Of course the devs could also simply add a pop up window that asks if you are sure you want to sell each item, that way if Captain impatience turns the window off ha once again has no one to blame but himself for having an itchy clicking finger.

Actually you did. You posted your suggestion in the open forums to get player feedback which consists of players /signing, /unsigning, and includes their opinions both positive and negative.

If you didn't want to ask people to sign your suggestion you would have sent it via private message to the devs.

Now as to the idea itself, /unsigned for reasons stated by others.

And these are only the ones I participated in, there could easily be more considering the way you refuse to let your agendas go.

Face it you aren't going to get them to change things just so you can get more respecs. Everything is working as intended.

I don't need to make any efforts at all. You got your own threads locked and deleted, but if it makes you feel better to paint me as the villain in this quest for more respecs, go right ahead. I'm flattered that you put so much thought into my role in this.

  15. What is this the 6th or 7th thread the OP has started about wanting more respecs? You'd think he'd learn to drop it considering the mods have locked or deleted half of his threads on the subject.

As for your point Forbin of how IOs being cheaper, that may be so, but they also require much more time to create; you have the find the recipe, find the salvage, then haul yourself over to the nearest university to craft it. SOs are simple, find vendor, buy what you need, slot up.

For the people that want them, they'd be available, for the people that don't, they're more than welcome to continue using their basic TOs. Everybody wins.
Just for clarity I wasn't talking about crafting IO's. I buy mine from the market ans rarely spend more than 2,000-5,000. More often than not I pick them up for less.

I also plan ahead by placing regular bids on items (10 at a time) I use all the time and throw them into storage for when I need them on a new character. There are plenty of players that are always working on their crafting badges and throw what they make for sale dirt cheap.

Anyone that has a little patience can do what I do.

Hell, I ran one of the new Unai missions with Anti-Matter's Clockwork with a small team and was surprised at how tough it was. Once we started adapting and thinking rather than running on auto-pilot, we actually started rolling.

Smart playing and teamwork is definitely vital in the post-GR world. Kudos to the Devs for stepping things up a notch, even if it means tough missions and teaming for awhile. Now if the villain arcs had only received the same treatment as the hero arcs... I'd be much more pleased. Granted, villains had much harder content/enemies than heroes did.

    Oh, and much love M_Bill

I'm of the camp that believes a big part of the problem people are having is that they aren't used to playing the game at low pre-stamina levels. Due to Praetoria being 1-20 they are forced to learn/relearn how to play the game. They can't simply go to P_I/Grandville or an AE building and get powerleveled past the low level content.

Basically what this Vet power would do is allow the player to slot SOs before they reach lvl 22. As it stands now, many people find the 1-20 career as very frustrating, this would just be a step in helping make people's experience less of a "chore".

Besides, pre-20, you don't have many enhancement slots to work with anyway and the slots that you are given, I would imagine Vets using them mostly for Endurance Reduction. This makes the fight to stamina more of a delight. Also keep in mind that most sets don't recieve their heavy hitting attacks/strongest damage mitigrations until post 20, so I can't imagine enemy mobs being too outclassed.

Anyways, the SOs would clearly be expensive like they are now so buying them would still require alot of work - with the exception of players with sugar mommas/daddies. Anyways, the goal here was to help make pre-20 more enjoyable to players, I hope that I have succeeded.

P.S. If there's a way to get this in the game WITHOUT it being tied to a Vet reward, that'd be all the more better.
Why would anyone waste money on SO's prior to level 20 when basic IO's are cheaper, have better bonuses, and don't need to be replaced.

  23. There are a handful of people who actually have a legitimate argument that they can't afford the sub fee. Sadly the company can't cater to such a small portion of the player base.

The rest of the people making suggestions like this are more like this guy. As a matter of fact I think Red might remember him.

another game i play ******** **** ******** which is $9.99/month. it came out in october 2006. and ppl complain about the fee there all the time. and sometimes i subscribe to ***. also **** live $50/yr these fees add up. 9.99 for psu, 14.99 for wow, 14.99 for coh. thats 50+ a month on games. this adds up.

along with about 200 to 300 on groceries/alcohol/restaurants per month, 279 for rent each month. 40/mo to my brother for doing the dishes, and cleaning the apartment. 20 for adult entertainment. 50 for car insurance. 25 for renters insurance. 10 for life insurance. 30+ for gas. i'm gonna have to pay for dental insurance soon. also money for furniture, new bed, bedding stuff, electronics, soon a new $1200 computer. also other games i buy such as ***, ******** controller, ******* ****, ****** ********, ******** and other games, video rentals. and medical expenses i just paid 735 for a hospitol bill, credit report 25. gambling, movie theateres, postal stamps, luckily no credit cards currently. and i get about $900/month from disability, and i live in north county san diego, ca. i'm not working right now. soon i'll go back to work after i have a cataract in my eye removed. then i go back to pizza delivery for round table while getting disability.

i'm surprised so many ppl were against this. you must be rich or are you brats that live off your parents. how easily do you give away your money. it seems like you should want to save money not give it away. what are you gonna do when champions comes out? pay another 14.99 or let your characters die? i'll probably subscribe to this on, and off like i do wow. and switch to *******s maybe when it comes out. also i was only trying this game out to see wheter i like it or if it was worth it, not promising to be a lifetime subscriber.

Honestly? I love that option. The older vets get everything still and the newer members get the bits that interest them the most.

The only problem with being able to choose the order you get rewards in is that the very same people who are complaining about having to wait would then be complaining that all the remaining rewards suck after they picked the ones they wanted.

As frustrating as having to wait can be the current system is the fairest way to award the rewards.
