Quote:Yes I did. You dismissed the fact that other MMO's have rules set up for specific servers where certain types of player behavior isn't tolerated and could get a player suspended/banned."Don't be dense" Did you even read what I replied to?
If someone asked me to leave a zone I would respond with "make me" with witch CactusBrawler said in other games I would get banned for that.
So......
Just like you are trying to dismiss the fact that what gets people banned isn't simply refusing to leave, it's their misconduct before and after them being asked to leave that gets them banned. -
Quote:The only problem would be to the griefers that enjoy disrupting things. They'll argue that it takes too much time to activate their powers once they leave the "D".That's what was posted in the first post. Some one complaining about not arranging trials in Pocket D because it was lagging the place up.
If every Tom, Dick and Sally isn't firing off their powers to fight the boredom of waiting for their league to fill, there wouldn't be any problem would there? -
As I pointed out to Sam that works both ways. It's just as rude for RPer's to ask Trial launchers to leave a zone as it is for the Trial Launchers to ask the RPer's to leave the zone.

Don't be dense. They don't ban people for refusing to leave a zone they ban them for their misconduct while in the zone. Every MMO bans ***holes that are too stupid to know when to quit.
-
No it isn't. The fact that the devs are able to suppress just teleport means they could also suppress other specific powers that are annoying and disruptive. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

Quote:I have the same problem with online RP.Ok, I have been a gamer for a LONG time. I started RPing in table top games when I was 9, and I am now 36. I even Boffer LARP and Action Theater LARP, which is are extreme form of RP.
I still can't grasp online RP. Only about 10-20% of what we communicate is eve verbal. That means that while online RPing you are losing about 80% of what you are communicating. W/o tone of voice, body language, and facial expressions I have no clue what someone is really saying.
Sorry, that was off topic.

Quote:It's no more disappointing than someone telling players that his or her RPing is more important than what they are doing and he or she has the right to spoil their fun however he or she likes. This attitude is greatly disappointing, as it amounts to "I'm more important than you because you're playing the game wrong, so I have the right to ruin your fun however I like." And we used to have such a friendly community.
Pocket D is for eveyone to use responsibly. -
Quote:/ThisIt would help if pets didn't have this overwhelming urge to be in melee when they are meant to stay the hell at range!
I'm tired of my Bots trying to punch warwalkers in the kneecaps, I really am...
Especially in regards to the ones with the healing buffs. I'm frelling sick of having my gorram medic always being the first to die cuz he's always the first one to run into melee combat. -
Quote:Where's your proof that religion does exist elswhere in the universe. Your whole argument is based on the assumption that alien life forms think like humans, and your defense is that it must be true because it can't be disproven.Where is the proof that religion isn't a purely human invention. Assuming that there is some god that has communicated with his creations to lead them on the right path, then aliens will have religion. Of course, by religion it could be any action that does not have an immediate or noticeable benefit. Religion does not need to deal with a god. There are numerous religions where there was no all-powerful group of gods or one god.
Using your own circular logic I can claim that religion can't possibly exist outside of earth because you cannot prove that earth isn't the only planet in the universe containing intelligent life.
Sure it would be nice if aliens had religion, because it would give us something we have in common ground we could hopefully build upon. -
I agree. What happened on the ship was the highlight of the episode. What happened on the planet was just an excuse to kill off a bunch of Lucian Alliance characters. Oh and a way to prune that guys crush on the female scientist.

Quote:Nothing frustrates me more than saving up the moola to buy and craft special IO sets (purple sets I wish) and feeling like that didn't deliver what I was truly looking for.
So wouldn't it be nice if the test server had a vender who sold crafted IO sets for a hefty price? Say 400 million for a full mako set or reactive armor. Purple sets make it double. Granted a working copying tool would need to be in place.
Players have been duplicating billions of inf for years on the test server by loading up a character with all their money and copying it to the test server over and over and over. As many times as they have slots. Then they transfer the cash to one character, delete the others and start copying again.
Before the market they used two accounts to use the trade feature between characters.
When the Market went into it they used that to make transfers.
And now that we can send stuff via email we've been using that to transfer funds between characters.
So since setting any type of price is pointless they should just make them available to everyone for testing purposes. -
Sorry Star but using fire for warmth, cooking, or attack/defense isn't imposing "human" values on aliens. It's simple cause and effect.
The forest they were in on that planet was in the temperate region as evidenced by the flora and fauna and thus is subject to seasonal changes. The lair was up above the forest in rocky hills or even mountains suggesting that area is located in a higher altitude of the planet which would be more exposed to seasonal and weather changes. Under those circumstances it isn't unreasonable that a creature that knows how to create fire will also know that fire can be used to keep warm when it's cold.
Any creature that is intelligent enough to recognise that the creation of fire is a sign of intelligence is also smart enough to know that fire can be used to keep other predators from entering the cave in which it makes it's home. Or it could be used to attack other predators.
It's also not hard to see how an alien creature that knows how to make fire could figure out some winter that the frozen animal it found would be easier to eat if it was warmed up next to the fire it made and thus invent cooking.
Now you are the one imposing "human" values on alien creatures. You are assuming that religion isn't a purely human invention.Quote:Fire could have a religious meaning for them so they might only use it for religious ceremonies and/or sending their dead to the next life so having a fire pit in their cave could be unthinkable. The only thing that matters is they understand fire, they don't understand guns. -
Quote:That same theoretical monkey could be trained to start a fire with a flamethrower designed for their hands. And that cave had no evidence that the creatures could make fire themselves. If it had then TJ would have noticed it and known the creatures were intelligent to some degree. If the creatures were capable of making fire the one place they would use it would be in their lair. Not necessarily. I could in theory train a monkey to shoot with a gun designed for their hands. The monkey wielding a gun doesn't prove a sign of intelligence, only that it can be trained to use a gun. The aliens recognizing fire could mean that they have created fire before and recognize humans having something in common with them.

I didn't say I was against the idea. I was just pointing out we'll be trading one complaint for another.
Take a look at what happened with Mystic Fortune. The devs made a change and removed players ability to refuse it. That set off a wave of complaints from players that didn't want the buff. When the devs changed it back it set off another wave of complaints by players that didn't like the pop up window and the players that didn't like people being able to block their drive by buffing.

Quote:Guess what? In order to recognise fire as a sign of intelligence the creatures obviously had to have encountered a tool using species. Therefore while they may not recognise the tools (guns) being used by the humans they would recognise them as tools and as a sign of intelligence.I actually thought it was rather interesting. The creatures are alien, after all... and there doesn't seem to be any other form of intelligence. So they wouldn't know what a gun was... or what clothing was... and it doesn't know English, so the people talking would have seemed like random noises to them. The only reason it would even know a gun was dangerous was if it saw one fired....
I don't think it's outside the realm of believability that these things, at the very least, could have about the intelligence of a somewhat advanced cavemen. And if they've encountered fire before... and recognized the fact that a thinking being would know how to create such a thing... Sure, why not? It might not be absolute proof, but it's enough to make it think twice before eating it... and that was enough to help them escape. -
So instead of the occasional thread complaint from a guy that made a typo we'll get a complaint thread from a careless person demanding the feature be changed because he wasn't paying attention to who he right clicked on and he sent a billion inf to a total stranger.
-
So this week we got to see how Rush dealt with Eli's rebellious feelings. I have to admit I liked how he sneakily asserted his authority without them figuring it out.
As to the rest I thought it was going well until the end. I found the whole idea that the creature recognizes fire and lets them go to be pretty lame. -
Quote:Wait. You can't do any transactions at all? Market, Emails, and character trades are all blocked? That really sucks. You have my sympathies.Yeah,my Sonic/Sonic bank toon is locked from doing any transactions at all...and still no word from support on a fix.
Many bugs, still fun.
-
While I applaud and encourage everyone who makes efforts like the one you suggest, not everyone is as considerate as you.
And even tho you may not have encountered them, there are plenty of people that like to take their time and take in everything the game offers, they like reading all the dialog. They are the same people that have kept the game active for 7 years because they don't run the same trial 10 times in one day and then complain that they are bored and annoyed at seeing the same thing over and over and that they are thinking of cancelling their subs.
For example:
Quote:I have run 10 trials today, I never want to run them again.
Its not that I can't get a team
Its not that I cannot finish a trial (that bug was finally fixed).
I AM making progress...
Its just that I am bored out of my mind repeating the same two bits of content repeatedly.
I haven't even finished the first judgement slot on one character, and I am not having fun doing these trials anymore.
Am I alone in this?
I can't even bear to log into the game because I know all I will be demanded to do is incarnate content, which is just the two same tired boring trials.
See the problem is: why should I maintain a subscription t a game I don't enjoy to play anymore.
This was the game I play to avoid buying other games,
It doesn't meet that need anymore due to the "new game" being repeat the same 2 events over and over.
Gunna have to seriously consider my options at this point, as there isn't even another MMO to go to for at least a year.
If you are tired of the cutscenes, take a break and go play some other content. There is plenty of stuff to do in this game that doesn't have cutscenes. This isn't STO where you have to complete the trial in a specific timeframe or you'll miss out on the special reward. -
While I don't personally like the cutscenes what about the opinions of the people that enjoy the cutscenes. Where do you or some team leader get off telling other people how to enjoy the game?
Just something to think about. -
Quote:Dude that wasn't a cliffhanger. They went to their deaths fighting. Even Joss Whedon said that.If WB did pick it up they would probably leave it with an even bigger cliff hanger. Like they did with Angel.
Quote:Joss Whedon says of this episode, "This was not the final grace note after a symphony, the way the Buffy finale was. We are definitely still in the thick of it. But the point of the show is that you're never done; no matter who goes down, the fight goes on." Whedon says that Angel is about redemption, "something you fight for every day, so I wanted him to go out fighting. People kept calling it a cliffhanger. I was like, 'Are you mad, sir? Don't you see that that is the final statement?'"
It's a great way to end the show. Defiant to the very end. We don't need to see the heros die. That changes the message. -
What's your point? It took me three years to get my first 50 and two years to get my second. So a measly two and a half years to fill out some incarnate slots isn't that big a deal.
-
Quote:That would be great, even if it was only to air the resolution. I can't stand it when a show or movie is cancelled without an ending. But I've learned not to get my hopes up. Especially when dealing with the SyFy channel.I think the best we can hope for is that in a few years when the studio inevitably investigates reviving the property for a new series, they write some resolution to SGU into the pilot.
