  1. The irony here is priceless. For years there have been people complaining that they weren't powerful enough and now that they devs caved and gave everyone the ability to become incarnates the games not challenging anymore. So I feel obligated to /unsign this because if the devs cave again where does it stop. It'll just be a viscious cycle of giving the players more power then raising the difficulty, then giving players more power again, round and round.

No one held a gun to our heads and forced us to unlock the incarnate stuff.

However, given the marriage ceremony between Scott and Chloe in the preview, that probably is being tossed out the window. There's also the seeming disparity between the number of men and number of women (at least from what I've seen).
That's why I mentioned our RL experts who theorize the number of people needed to start a successful colony range from 15 to 5,000. If the experts are that diverse how can we claim that Destiny doesn't have enough people.

Something else bothering me is the language. We've seen pretty big drift in English simply in the last couple hundred years. Is it really that feasible to expect English to remain the same for 2000+ years? Now, granted, they have the spoken records to reinforce "our" English in the minds of the populace rather than just text documents.
This is one of those things where we have to suspend belief. We can't honestly start nitpicking now about language shift when for the past 10 years the Stargate property has had SG teams scouring the universe and encountering lost tribes of humanity that were taken from earth thousands of years ago as well as Alien races that never encountered an earthling let alone an American and 99% of them speak modern English.

Well this episode turned out better than I expected from the previews.

I'm okay with the people descending from the other Destiny crew.

I found the way the drones are tracking them to be believable.

I'll tolerate that they were able to establish a thriving colony with less than 80 founders because experts guess it can be done with as few as 15 and up to 5,000.

I figured right off that the main colony was destroyed either by natural disaster, internal war, or drone attack.

All in all I'm looking forward to next weeks episode.

It's just about feel/fun.It feels a little too game-mechanic-y restrictive when I suddenly can't run radio missions in Kings Row (or whatever example you want to use).

We get missions that send us to these lower zones at higher levels. It'd be nice to sniff out missions to intentionally get in whatever zone we're capable of holding our own within. (Tip Missions were a nice addition to allow a bit of leeway in this, but not really)

Not trying to convince anyone that they should feel the same way... Just offering my personal reasoning for why I've wanted it.
You mentioned flavor/fun so I'd like to point out that you can go to any large city and look at their police departments and you'll find that they are broken up into city zones or precincts, and police assigned to one zone/precinct don't respond to calls in another zone/precinct. You don't see cops/detectives from precinct 3 get sent all the way across town to respond to calls in precinct 27.

Radio missions are the squad car/foot patrol emergency calls that the everyday beat cop has to respond to. That's who you are helping when you respond to them. They aren't "The Closer", they're "Hill Street Blues", "Adam-12", and "Law and Order" where even the detectives only handle cases in their own zone/precinct.

It doesn't matter how many players demand feature be added to the game. If the devs don't like it they won't add it. But then this tangent isn't about what the devs choose to do, since no one has said the devs would never consider this idea.

Maybe it would it have been better if the OP had searched for my or another poster's similiar thread and Necro'd that? 'Course, I've noted that people that do that tend to get lit up. *shrug*
Not one person told the OP to "Learn to Search", or told him he was beating a dead horse. We simply took the idea at face value and are discussing the merits and flaws.

Yes I'd buy a base booster/expansion but the damned thing better have some meat on it's bones and not any anorexic crap like the party booster. And it better have some of the things we've been begging for to make our base building easier.

Like the white floor tile next to the safe with skins on the top and bottom (resembling the various ceiling and floors styles) that we can use to make additional levels instead of thousands of desks.

Wow you really are desperate to think that that strawman argument carries any weight.

If you had any clue about Bill's post history you'd know he's argued that the forums would be better off if Post Counts and Forum Titles were removed altogether because they get used by people like you who are losing an argument to vilify the people disagreeing with them. Either by pointing at high post counts/titles and pretending they are being picked on or looking at low post counts/titles and dismissing people as noobs.

    As to the original idea,

    /unsigned.

Why? Because prestige earned means nothing. Especially when any Tom, Dick, or Harry can join an SG the same day Johnny_Taxibot does and can have more prestige than he does by simply converting influence to prestige at the SG registrar.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? The number of times an idea has been suggested does not have any impact on whether or not it should be added to the game. If it did we'd have:

    Powerset respecs
    Vehicles
    Auto-leveling
    Open World PvP
    Merged Servers
    Base Love
    The Moon Zone

Just to name a few oft suggested ideas.
  11. All of them.

Each set of powers and AT's can easily survive soloing in the +1 level range 1-20. But you have to be willing to learn the different tactics required. It's more than just charging into combat and mashing buttons.

This was one of the heated discussions we had in the first season when the Destiny left that previous galaxy for the one they are in now. They had plenty of time to do 1 or 2 episodes exploring the ship and discovering things they could use regardless of how fast the ship travels between galaxies.

Actually I was lucky to find a website that was airing the episode this soon so I could double check my memory of that scene. SyFy hasn't gotten around to putting that episode up yet.

As to the discussion I wouldn't exactly call it being stubborn, I was enjoying having a lively discussion that hadn't devolved into name calling and insults that we see so often on the forums. In past discussions about this show some people have taken pointing out the shows flaws as personal attacks.

Ah well. Looking forward to the next conversation about the soon to be cancelled SGU.

Those GM's also use the GM code that scales them to the level of the characters which makes it possible for low level characters to actually damage/defeat them.

I'm not assuming anything. They did imply it because the creatures stalked them as a group, set traps for them, adapted their tactics, and made coordinated attacks when they new the rescue party was focused on something else.

    Quote:
The cave creature was alone when it attacked the group and brought back the 2 captives. It protected it's cave alone. It went inside the cave to eat alone.
It was protecting the packs lair while the others were out stalking the rescue party.

    Quote:
Did they even say they hunted in packs?
Yes they did. after the second ambush when it was just Greer and the Lucian guy left they had this discussion.

Greer - Following their trail has gotten way too easy. It's almost as if they're daring us to come after them.
Lucian guy - They're luring us in to finish us off.
Greer - The thing that attacked us back at the camp was bigger than the ones we're tracking now.
Lucian guy - These tracks are smaller these are the babies. We're getting close to their lair. The fact that we're dealing with more than one of these things reduces the chances of finding our people alive.
Greer - Are you saying you're having second thoughts? Cuz you know I can do this on my own.
Lucian guy - Oh no you can't. Hell I don't even think we can do this together, but I'm gonna see this thru. Besides this close to the nest we're past the point of no return.

Not only did they say the creatures work as a pack they said they were part of the same family.

    Maybe you missed that scene.

    Quote:
The only time I can remember more than one creature being in the same area was right after the (human) hunting party killed one of the beasts.
You are assuming that just because the rescue party didn't realize they were being stalked by mulitiple creatures working together that the creatures weren't together until that one scene.

    Quote:
More popped up, but that doesn't mean they were in a pack. You don't assume 2 hawks are hunting together when they go after the
same prey. They could have been competing against each other...
But we know they weren't from the discussion between Greer and the Lucian guy. The parent was guarding the lair while the babies stalked and killed the rescue party. That requires teamwork and communication.

    Quote:
We didn't any kind of cooperation or teamwork on the part of the
animals, from what I can tell.
Yes it does. One creature made a bold attack to distract the humans in the rescue party while the other two snuck in and killed two of the humans when their backs were turned. That requires communication, teamwork, and tactics.
  18. I think they spawn on an extremely low RNG, but I've gotten them on Hellions, COT, Tsoo, Arachnos, and Freakshow. Don't have a lot of high level characters and the ones I do have I don't play much so I can't remember if I got them on those characters.
  19. Ya know thinking back to when I first started watching Dr. Who as a kid I remember that the Fendahl scared the bejeebers out of me and I couldn't watch all the episodes untill I was a few years older.

    Seems silly now.

    1. Atlas Park isn't the only low level zone in the game. It's just being used as an example. There are plenty of low level zones compared to level 50 characters.

    2. Then you simply aren't standing around long enough for them to show up.
  22. I've never bothered to write down the names of the missions but on several occasions I've selected a radio/paper mission when my character was in a relatively isolated spot and there are with no hostiles nearby and I took a moment to organize my stuff, or pausing to chat with someone when a mob of the NPC's that I'm supposed to be facing in the radio/paper mission run up and attack me. No other players have run past me, the mob comes right for me.

Edit: Oh and I also know the ambushes are from those missions because I have a couple of characters who are cops and the only missions they do are Radio missions. After the initial City Hall Origin contact all the have are Detectives, and the unavoidable AE, University, etc. contacts that unlock automatically at certain levels.

Sorry FFM but our Aussie brethren have been having their prime time gaming hours disrupted by server downtime for 7 years. Please remember that the game is played all around the world so it's always someones prime time hours. It just so happens that it's your turn now.
  24. Yes it's possible. This reminds me of a RL experience with griefers. There used to be a game store near my hometown that had a network of computers for us gamers to use and there were two twits that would come in, sit next to each other, and giggle and plot how they could screw with people depending on what game they were playing.

They got angry at the gamers in the store because we quickly adopted the tactic of only teaming with each other and refused to invite them to anything. They stopped showing up shortly after that because to them it wasn't worth paying for computer time if they couldn't see people getting bent out of shape at their antics.
  25. They look awesome but I strongly disagree that they will turn out to be the scariest things ever seen in Dr. Who. In my opinion the scariest creature slot is tied between the Weeping Angels and those Shadow things the Doctor encountered on that library planet.
