Yes, no qualifiers. One life to save over 6 billion lives? I don't even think it's really a question. And before you ask: yes, I would be willing to be that one person.

The moral ambiguity for me comes with killing large numbers of people to save the world, and where do you draw the line? That's a much harder question to answer, and I'm not sure I could answer it.

Then there's people like the Operative:
    Quote:
The Operative: I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: So me and mine gotta lay down and die... so you can live in your better world?
The Operative: I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... any more than there is for you. Malcolm... I'm a monster. What I do is evil. I have no illusions about it, but it must be done.

If I were a passable artist, I'd totally draw that.
  3. If the updater starts running after you quit the game, it's a pre-patch for an issue. This generally means that all of the art assets for the issue are complete, not that the issue is ready for release. This allows you to download the big stuff (new models and textures) while your computer is idle and before the issue hits, rather than being forced to wait for hours before you log in after the issue hits.

The Marvel lawsuit was settled because it was determined that the developers could not control the actions of the players.

BUT...in this case it could be argued that all those cases of trademark infringement happened as a direct result of the developers' actions (introducing a powerset similar to a Jedi's signature weapon), making them able to be held accountable for them.
If that's your argument, it would apply just as much (if not moreso) to several other powersets we have: Claws being a prime example. But don't forget Super Strength, Spines, Dual Blades, Regeneration, Super Reflexes, Shield Defense, just about every blast set... I can continue. And we've got individual powers too, like Laser Eye Beams.
  6. I want to name my character "The Princess Magnificent with Lips of Coral and Robes of Black Feathers", but the game won't let me

I agree that it's frustrating. Hell, I can even dig up the command to do it on Windows (though I'm not so certain on Mac/Linux). But c'est la vie; the updater is a different program than the game, and while I'm not a fan of arbitrarily opening Internet Explorer from the updater, I'd prefer development focus on the game, rather than something relatively trivial like links in the updater.
  8. To be fair, Ozymandias is probably right in his feeling of superiority. He's basically better and richer than everyone else except perhaps Doctor Manhattan.

So... do you get it, or don't you? I'm lost.

To some people, clearing the inventory space quickly is more important than making profit. Selling on the market results in a smaller loss compared to simply deleting the item.

Yes, that would be me (other Mids' team members are on the currently functional version, rather than the we-promise-it'll-happen version). Of course, between school and job, I've honestly had little time to work on the project.

    I haven't forgotten about it, I promise.
But I also make no guarantees about a release date.

Progress updates can be viewed at User:Fleeting Whisper/Tease. You'll note that the most recent update posted to my wiki page was September 13. Yeah, that's about how much time I've had to work on it recently.
(Edit: Got my most recent version up there; now it's November 4)

Actually, I have made one fairly significant change since then... I should probably put it up on my wiki page... *runs off*

Can I have Assault Rifle/Cybernetic Blast/Super Reflexes, replace my Full Auto effect with an Energy Blast appearance, and wear a red duster?

  23. Dreadlocks. One word. With a 'k'.

Sorry, but it had to be said. I came into this thread assuming it would have to do with the /loc command.

The marketing department has determined that each player will receive one e-mail, per forum post requesting dual pistols as a power for the last 6 years of the games existence.

Yes we all in marketing dept. Think that payback is a &^%#$#. And now it is time to get yours.

    Sincerely yours;

But I never requested Dual Pistols! Just a sniper blast set so that I could hit the 5 set bonus limit using snipe sets...
