Quote:If you've been asking to be removed, they probably just stopped bothering to invite youThat's only "IF" you are in Closed Beta and agreed to the NDA. I've only been in two CBs and both times I have asked to be removed. It's no fun when you have to agree to not talk about closed Beta. Not being invited I can discuss it to my hearts content.

Repeat: Tesla wanted to sell AC power. Topsy the elephant was killed with AC to discourage the use of AC, not to promote paying for it. You claim doesn't even make sense.

... why wouldn't you put defense in Invincibility? It's your best source of +def.

Despite my post count making it seem otherwise, I'm not quite so rabid on the forums that I'd be able to get the code when it's posted. I do anticipate fighting through lots of lag in the NCSoft store tomorrow, though...

Quote:Heroes can get Entrusted with the Secret by 17 different badges, 6 different story arcs, and one non-arc mission. Most of the badges are high level (STF or RV), but the arcs go as low as level 20 (Mercedes Sheldon, Doc Delilah, and Agent G). One of the badges (5th Columnist) could theoretically be earned at level 1 (assuming you've got a lv1 character who logged in for the 1st and 2nd anniversaries, and still hasn't leveled up).I am also aware that Marshall Brass does not auto unlock so I would suggest the following:
Heroes get a new arc that involved time travel
Villains get a new arc that involves time travel - and the contact unlocks at level 20
Villains can get Entrusted with the Secret by 16 different badges and one story arc (which can start at lv15). Again, the badges are high level (RSF or RV).
And of course, joining anyone on a flashback mission gets you the portal, as does jumping through someone else's portal and getting the Chrononaut badge from within Ouroboros itself. -

MoQuaterfield should be 'No Travel Powers', and that's it :3

For a little spin on things, I'd like to see (professional) voice-overs during the cutscenes.

Quote:Vidiotmaps and similar are on a hazy line when it comes to the TOS. Technically, they're not modifying the game client (which is against the TOS), rather they're utilizing an undocumented feature of the client (the client will read files from data/ in preference to the files in piggs/). On the other hand, the only way to know exactly how to use that undocumented feature requires piggdiving, which is against the rules.Yep, anything dealing with the game controls is against the ToS. Technically the Vidiotmaps addon violates the ToS but it's been allowed by the Devs for 6 years now and has attained a semi-official status... it's even made a list of "best game sites" for COH.
Quote:i picked corrupter (dark blast/dark maisma). it has everything i love about caster classes. high damage output, some healing, and immobilizers. sounds like a lot of fun. i love playing the 'bad guy' so even the names are awesome for what i'm looking for.
One note on DM: Howling Twilight is more like an AoE stun and great regen debuf... that just happens to rez nearby allies. I use HT whenever it's available, rather than when somebody dies.
Quote:if you ever check out EJ take a look at their simple questions/simple answers column. they are BRUTAL.
Quote:There is a heal as the first power in Dark Miasma, but it's kinda "meh" for a heal in that it needs a target (yes, it can miss) and the animation is on the long side. But, once you get to the higher levels you'll probably find that you're using the heal less and less anyway.
The great thing about this game is that powers don't really get outdated as you level up. Control sets continue to use their ST holds and immobilizes, blast sets continue to use their T1 and T2 attacks (especially Blasters, who can use them while mezzed), armor sets continue to use their first defensive powers... you never work your butt off to earn Fira only to replace it with Firaga later. -
Yay knockback!
(Though I prefer being on the giving end than the recieving end. Plus, critters get to ragdoll.) -

I'm pretty sure the powerset name is Red Circle, the same font used by all the big all-caps, titles, etc. in CoH. Red Circle is available in the fansite kit.
(CoH_Fansite_Kit/Web Font/REDCIRCL.ttf or CoV_FanSite_Kit/CoV_Web_Font/REDCIRCL.ttf)
Edit:
Top is a screenshot from Microsoft Word, using Red Circle. Bottom is copied from the OP.
Looks like Red Circle, in italic.
Edit:Looking at that image, the Ns are different. It's a matter of capitals. I wrote 'N' in Word (I typed all-caps), and it's different from the card. Looking at 'n' in Word right now, it's the same rounded top as the card has. For anyone with Red Circle installed, compare:

Pylons do a scale 4 KB, and have 40% chance for an additional scale 2 KB, but I'm not entirely certain what their Ranged_Knockback modifier is. With player ATs, the Ranged_Knockback modifier hovers around 2 at lv50 (with Brutes and Tankers up around 2.6), so "more than 8" sounds correct.

Hmm, I thought they had an inherent +perception like Vanguard Sword, but looking at their powers list on CoD they don't appear to. I rarely fight them (gawd, caltrops! D:), so I don't recall their behavior around stealthed players. I'd have to check (or... someone could check for me >.>)

What do you mean by 'searching everywhere'? On the market, you really just need to have enough cash (and that's a lot). Trying to get them as drops, you need to be fighting level 47+ enemies. And fight lots of them. If you're on a team, your chance to get the drop is reduced, because the drop will be randomly assigned to one team member. The fastest way to get purple drops would be soloing -1/x8 missions at level 48-50, though many people prefer +0/x8 at level 50 since the non-purple drops will sell better that way.

Quote:No, we're not. Much like "the best-laid plans of mice and men go oft astray," the best-tested features of developers and beta players will still be broken by a min/maxer.I suppose my point is - aren't we reasonably assured that after months of design and months of play-testing, when a set comes out it would be +/- %20 relative to other power sets in effectiveness?
Balance in a multiplayer game, especially an MMO, is a continuous proces, not a discrete one.
Quote:Actually, it was my opinion that that's the way the actual world works. Not everyone is born with the same degree of intelligence, physical ability, talents, will or starting point economically. We have wildly differring skill sets and personal experiences all - at least in my opinion - without a 'writer-god' pulling the strings and we somehow manage to have personal triumphs and failures regardless.
(Note to the reader: Please do not go commit suicide)
There's also this:Quote:But in the real world, we don't take on the same challenges.... This video game doesn't have a wide variety of different situations to excel in. There's basically just "kill stuff" with a couple of variations.
Quote:I'll bet once those power-gamers have succeeded in exploiting the system and becoming truly 'uber' with this ridiculous build or that, they'll get bored... they'll eventually start looking for another challenge. A real one.
The min/maxers got bored. They started soloing TFs.
The min/maxers got bored. They started soloing GMs.
The min/maxers got bored. They started soloing 54s.
There's always a new challenge to be had. Only a select few builds can do the above. The next logical step would be to do it with build that previously couldn't. There's also hints of stronger and more difficult enemies upcoming, possibly with the fabled "Coming Storm", and Praetoria will be arriving soon, with new challenges to meet. Ad let's not forget the upcoming Incarnate levels with which we can expand our ability to challenge ourselves, or expand the challenges we can complete.
