Quote:Arbiter Reginald Fabulous (aka Equation):I'm sorry but... who is Arbiter Fabulous? I really have no idea who this person is, and don't understand why they deserve a TF named after them. Heck, I'd support a Sexy Jay TF first.
Author of the "Because I Have to Look at You" column in the City Scoop. Other than being a player and regular forumite, I honestly don't know what else he's done with relation to the game.
Equation has also cosplayed Arbiter Fabulous at HeroCon -
Quote:Je suis une pomme de terre.Looks more to me like proof that Freedom is overpopulated and should have it's population split up.
Maybe they could move Freedom players to the French server.

It's an interesting Idea, but if implemented they'd probably do it as another Icon/Facemaker employee rather than Arbiter Fabulous. AF's great, but what is "a lot"? The little interaction I've had was while working with the City Scoop; I know a lot more about people who frequent the Player Questions section, and based on my personal experience, they've done more. Where do you draw the line?
There's very few references to players within the game:- Coyote in the hero tutorial is Koyote, an extremely helpful player during the game's beta, who died just around the game's release.
- Smoke and Mirrors (Twilight's Son) is a story written by Troy Hickman... but he wrote the story for the licensed CoH comic.
- Ascendant got one line from an NPC at the train station referencing his roleplay
- Paragonwiki is mentioned in a loading screen tip

Quote:Doppelganger as a member of the group guarding Naylor would be another option.I heartily agree with this, but I don't think that it needs a new mission. Going deeper into spoiler territory here:
Really, all that needs to be done is to change the mission objective where you find the Duplicate. Instead of clicking on a 'box of parts' they can have the Duplicate up and running. -
There's also a variety of capes and cape-like costume pieces acquired through veteran rewards, collector's editions, and booster packs. These are available at lv1.
-
I admit it'd be nice, though. And the tip timers were drasically reduced (removed?) while beta testing the side-switching; they may be able to just 'flip a switch' for it.

Ditto for one of my Matermind's costumes. Magic Bolero + Fringe Cape looks really cool, but you can't combo them any more (one cape system per player costume rule).

Quote:I said as much when the power appeared in the game just before the Martial Arts pack. (In fact, I thought Shadowy Presence was going to be the travel power in the Martial Arts pack, which would have sucked.)Also, Shadowy Presence, if it's interruptable, is pointless. 10 minute recharge, acts like old Shadowmeld from Night Elves on WoW (Stand still, don't attack, get to be invisible). Takes ages to activate, making it kind of useless as a get out of combat emergency action.

My guess would be there's a "Claim enhancements" button somewhere. I can't check, though.
My Razer Sphex didn't show up with my box, though
Already emailed GameStop about it, but I is sad... -
Yesterday was the first time I'd tried to log in to the live servers since May mumblemumblemumble. I can get to the login screen just fine, the server selection works, and I can select and log in to a character.
But as soon as the zone loading screen completes, my game freezes, and then crashes with a Cryptic Studios 'send us your error report' window. The location, server, and character don't seem to matter.
Last night I tried verifying files (no help) and updating drivers (also no help), so today I come to you guys.
CoH Helper Report
To my eyes, the only things that look at all wrong are the video and sound drivers (~1yr and ~3yrs old), but as I said, I updated those last night (from nVidia's and Dell's websites, respectively)
Hijack This Report
I don't see anything here which could be causing problems, but I'm not a guru in this area, which is why I'm here.
Other things I think I should mention in case it helps:- Occasionally, any program on my computer will freeze for a few seconds before returning to normal (in fact, Hijack This did it while generating the report). This has been an ongoing problem since before installing Windows 7. I've occasionally tried looking for a solution, but since the problem is so general, it's hard to find a solution. I've no idea whether it's related to my CoH issues, especially since my other programs don't crash, they just sit "Not Responding" for a bit.
- My disk defragmenter runs on a regular basis (every Wednesday, IIRC). I just ran it now, and I've got 6% fragmentation.
- This problem didn't occur while I was on the GR beta server, but I also haven't been able to play for weeks (unstable connection).

Quote:Life is just nature's way of keeping meat freshZombies don't have to have spirits or such, they could merely be dead bodies given a semblance of life by your character's magic. While this might go against social norms, I wouldn't say there's anything morally wrong with it. A dead body is just a lump of useless flesh. Whatever gave it life - whether a spirit, or just electrochemical impulses - has gone, so why not do some good with it?

y'know, I think I'd go another route with this movie:
Two fleets scheduled to play a naval wargame. It isn't until after the battle starts that the protagonists discover the other side has live rounds, and communication to base is cut off... -

Quote:But according to you (or possibly someone else in the thread, I can't keep track), the act of placing the character in the game gives NCSoft full ownership of that character, period. That is a ludicrous and patently false claim, demonstrated by The Goddamned Batman. Here's why you're wrong. You can't affect the ownershiip of Batman by creating a Batman character because you don't have the legal right to assign ownership of the IP. Same reason you can't sell stolen goods.

The story arc Automatic Villainy from Technician Naylor (lv35-39) involves Nemesis building a robotic duplicate of you... sort of (it's a fun arc, I don't want to give away the whole story).
I'm merely suggesting a small addition to the arc: Incorporate a battle using the doppelganger tech introduced in Dark Mirror. It would require a little bit of a rewrite, and maybe one additional mission. But I'd think it'd be awesome to include -
It's mostly from double XP weekends. At first Freedom/Virtue players would crash because the server was overflowing. Then they implemented a system to lock out the server if the population got too high, but people complained they couldn't log in (you couldn't select the server, and the server select screen doesn't automatically refresh). Now, there's a queue system, so if there's too many people you can get into a queue to be let on.

If an update made your computer spit out $100 bills every minute, people would complain that the bills weren't sequential. If it were changed so they were sequential, people would complain that they needed the untraceable cash.

Quote:Let's put aside the assumption that all MMOs are the same with the "an MMO", and pretend you just meant CoH:Remember, characters created on an MMO server become the intellectual property of the company that runs the MMO.
You're wrong. NCSoft does not gain ownership of my character if said character already has a copyright or trademark on it. If I create the character from whole cloth on their server, they do. If the character existed previously, they merely gain the right to distribute the character's likeness as rendered in the game (for example, put a screenshot of my character on their web page or in banner ads).
Think about it this way: If your interpretation were correct, then I could create Batman on Freedom, and suddenly NCSoft would own Batman. That's ridiculous. (I realize the character creator stops you from using the name Batman. Insert a character name that it doesn't stop.)
Quote:So he has a big mouth. Firstly, he said "if", meaning he hasn't gotten genericed yet. Secondly, the GM's don't ask, they just generic without advance warning. Apparently he doesn't even know the rules or how they are enforced.
Note: clicking 'I agree' is often considered a "Digital Signature", especially since expecting a user to have a tablet is ludicrous, and trying to draw your signature with a mouse is nigh-impossible.

It should work. The gift cards are basically Visa debit cards with a small balance. I know I pay my subscription with a MasterCard debit card.
