Quote:If someone remade 'The Valley of Gwangi' and cast Gwangi as, say, a Gorgosaurus rather than an Allosaurus, well, that would be just plain silly. A freaking Gorgosaurus? Pfft. Anybody who would screw up such a critical detail obviously didn't understand the original (probably never even watched it!) and should not be allowed to attempt a remake. That would be a worse blunder than Boromir not blowing his horn as the Fellowship left Rivendell!I don't understand this, but I've seen it elsewhere. Why do people get like this? No one's going through and burning old copies of RHPS. No one's calling your version less legitimate.
A freaking Gorgosaurus... -
Quote:The Carpenter version is somewhat closer to the source, that being 'Who Goes There?' by John W. Campbell but I disagree that the Hawks version was lame. If both were showing on TV at the same time I'd watch the old one. Much better movie, IMO.Two examples: The original version of "The Thing" with James Arness as the giant carrot was pretty lame. The John Carpenter remake was a pretty scary flick and generally well done.

What I want to know is are the event fatigues going to be included in I19 or are they going to be in a booster pack?

First, I would like to see an invasion of The Forum That Won't Log Me Out Spontaneously, and after that maybe a Groundhog Invasion in February.

Just did the tip mission (several times, actually) villain-side with teams ranging from 4-6 members. Big fun was had, but we never could get the bad guy to spawn as an AV. WAI?
No troubles at all ToTing solo or teamed with my 38 strong/pretty Brute. Didn't take long to get the tip mission - in fact, I've gotten it very quickly on everything (eligible for it, anyway) except my level 37 corruptor (which took around an hour, maybe a little longer).
Didn't have any trouble with my level 6 SS/WP brute or my level 16 stone/stone tanker.
My level 12 kin/electric defender got SIX treats in a row, then the seventh door spawned two LTs which sent him to the ER post haste.
I tried a few doors with my level 16 Necromancy/Poison MM and gave up quickly. The baddies would pop out and ignore the zombies which lead to a surfeit of faceplants.
No problems with ToT or the tip mission with my energy/energy/flame blaster or my electric/ice tanker, both at level 50.
Edit: spoke to soon in regard to the level 6 (now 7) SS/WP Brute - ack. <Bleeping!> Vampire Lords. First one she defeated, no problem. Second one, she couldn't hit the <bleep!> but he could sure as <bleep!> hit her. Hello, pavement. Third one, easily defeated. Fourth one spawned with a Vamp buddy. Wow, those clockwork guys sure do a nice job keeping the sidewalks clean! -

I don't hate what super boosters have done to the community. I hate what the community has done to super boosters.

Well... I was ToTing with my level 37 archery/TA corruptor this morning, and all the orange con Boss types were pretty much a guaranteed visit to the hospital - until I started ToTing near a place with a police drone (the AE building in Brickstown). Then if a Crone or whatever popped out, I'd run to the drone. Bzzzzt! Crone Droned! Bwahaha.
Took an hour or so to get a tip mission - which, btw, was also a PIA for that character, and wound up being an all too typical Elite Boss Inspiration Fest. Can't hold him. Can't immob him. Can't do enough damage fast enough to not die because - gee! - I don't have enough of the right inspirations. Hello, venerable hospital lobby! Hello, contact! Got any reds and purples for me today? Thanks! Die, Elite Boss! Oh. No way to get a rare recipe unless I go completely against this character's character as I have played her for 37 levels. Boo, devs. Boo.
With my level 48 Arachnos Widow, I got no bosses, got three costume salvage pieces, got two or three costumes, got the Halloween tip within five minutes, sneaked past all the mobs along the way in the mission, killed the Elite Boss in 60 seconds or less, got a rare recipe, and stuck around to fight the Clockwork. Whee.
That's about all I've done so far, except for a few doors with a couple of lowbies just for the heck of it. -
I just with we could have a Halloween Event without the continuous darkness. Hate that.

Quote:Let's say you're at a sit down restaurant, looking at the dinner menu. Oh, look, they've added something new - the Two & One Special, consisting of two pieces of toast and a glass of water, and the price is $3.$10 is less than the cost of lunch or dinner at most sit down restaurants. I really don't get this "overpriced" point of view some people are claiming.
At the table to your left is someone happily ordering TWO Two & One Specials, while waving at the chef and calling him by his first name like he's an old dear friend. "Humboldt! So nice to see you again! Excellent work on the toast. Absolutely perfect texture. And the water - sublime!" And from where you are sitting you can see that, yes, the toast looks like it was in the toaster just the right amount of time and not a second more or less.
At the table to your right someone is handing their menu back to the waitress and saying, "Three dollars! Good Lord, that's a lot of money! How about I give you a dime and you let me use the phone to call a cab to take me to someplace where they ain't crazy."
So. Just how hungry are you? -
I don't have any experience with Skype, but I'm almost always on Teamspeak when I play CoH (even though the people I talk to are not playing CoH) and until a few months ago I'd been using Ventrilo (used it for years) - never had any problems with CoH from using either of those.

Nuh uh, I bet it will be an AFK Pack! Including an assortment of port-a-potties, a wooden outhouse with crescent moon cutaway in the door (one-seat standard, two-seat models available for leveling pact people), and a nice brick <bleep!> house. When you activate the power the facility will appear and your character will enter and be safe from all harm unless a Tyrannosaurus Rex happens to attack - which just might be possible (nudge nudge wink wink) if enough people buy the AFK Pack!
(Still say the party pack and the origin pack should be combined for one low, low price.) -
Ya know, if the emote pack and the origin pack were combined they would make one Epically cool Booster Pack! Not, Super, though, without some wacky power like, say, a 'Pie to the Face' attack that only does minor (yummy) damage but also causes a moment of confusion as the target tries to determine the type of pie and/or whether there's also whipped cream.
So, why not do this:
Anyone who buys the Origin Pack gets the Emote Pack - gratis!
Anyone who has already bought the Emote Pack gets the Origin Pack - gratis!
Just think of all the good will such a brilliant marketing scheme would evoke! As the news spread of the kind, caring, benevolent marketing people at CoGR (that is, 'City of Going Rogue', pronounced 'codger') people playing other MMOs would demand similar treatment from their marketing people, and when they didn't get it, might decide to bring their gaming currencies over here! This could be the very thing that propels CoGR to the top of the MMO heap! And over at the (former) biggest MMO of all time, the marketing people would be going, "Ka-ching! Ka-ching! Ka... Hey, where'd everybody go?"
This may very well be that Kirkian one in ten thousand chance!
