  2. I'll be at the CoH panel and (hopefully) the meet and great. What questions would you ask?

He has enough detective skills, fighting skills, tactical genius and IQ points to somehow let him stand toe-to-toe with Superman as an EQUAL (and this causes Superman to instantly become an idiot who forgets what powers he has anytime the two team up). In what way is that "realistic"?

Just because he's "gritty" and "badass" and beats people up does not make him a "Marvel" style character. DC characters are not as realistic, and that's why I like them a lot more. I find most of the depth in Marvel characters to be shallow; created to make people look at them at a glance and instantly think "oh, they're real people with real problems". DC characters, on the other hand, need to be read and comprehended before they are fully understood. Marvel characters might have more readily apparent flaws in their characters, but that hardly gives them more depth or make them somehow "better".
I'm not sure I under stand your statements. You saying you prefer DC because they are more unrealistic? The flaws of the Marvel charicters aren't real flaws? Could you confirm and/or explain this a little more. Specificaly address the flaws of the DC heroes as I was unaware they had any.
  5. And that went better than I ever thought. Nice turn out and everything. Thanks to every one who participated! Your all great! If you have any screen shots post 'em! Happy birthday America!
  6. Come on! You know you want to do it!
  7. I think Des is right in that once people get used to it, it won't be such a (sniker) trial. Honestly the thing most people doen't seem to know is that after the 1st reactor you have to lead Anti-matter to the terminals to unlock them. My second trial was a good 20 minutes before that was figured out.

For what ever reason people are treating this as harder than it really is. Is every one so freaked out that your lvl 50 squishy has to hospital every few minuets? There is a learning curve to be sure but by this time with the Lamba and BAF we had it down to 1,2,3 cha cha cha. It's a dance now. Both of those trials are so easy they're boring.

I thought they fixed it so you wouldn't have to scroll to see the entire sever list or is that something that's coming with 21?
  9. Yeah the anti-matter pulse is a pain in the *** but you know what? Your all 50's running this thing. Get over it. You still get the Emps and Astrals just for being there. Everything else is gravey. Also from the amount of negitive feed back they're getting for this thing I'm sure it'll be nerfed before too long.

I would suspect that when Freedom kicks off Freedom (the sever) will get the bulk of the players for two reasons. The 1st, as Mental suggests, will be due to the name. The 2nd will be because it all ready has a high population. A week or so after a lot of playes will no longer be playing as they, incorrectly, assume that the rest of the servers are like Freedom. A few will move to other servers.

Perhaps we should place representitives in the tutorial and Atlas to tell them the IQ is higher and lag less on other servers?

I don't find that to be slippery at all. Minimum once a week for two hrs. Done.

When I said 100 I was being facetious. Pointing out that we really don't know, or at least I didn't know what the population is.

Prior to the silencing, there was very often more conversation in VB09 then in VB.
That's not quite accurate. There were tons of people who could not get into the original VB who joined VB09.

I have found that VB09 had a lighter feel to it than VB did (when both were active) the conversations were often very different in each channel.
That does not actualy refute MY observation.

Victory is actually not as "low population" as you think. We are not Freedom/Virtue, but we have more people than a lot of other servers. That being said, there are TONS of private global channels on Victory (some for friends, some for SGs, some for cult rituals... lol.
Well define "low population". Not to pick a fight or anything. I'm genuinely curious as to what our server pop is. 100? 1000? 10000? Any one know?

    Quote:
As far as PUBLIC global channels, since VB 09 is gone, there are 3 active ones: Victory Forum, Victory Badges, Victory Limitless.

I suppose if we were to close all of these channels and make a new one (Victory Chat or Victory Teaming or something) it could work... however the Victory server is a server of very opinionated people who purposefully and kindly stay away from those they don't get along with.
While I agree that your discription of our population is accuate re:strong oppinion, it seems to me that all the old rivalries have died off/left, at the very least died down. IMHO.

    Quote:
    For example:
Victory Forum- made largely up of forum regulars. People who post on the forums tend to have shall we say... strong opinions about things. Not everyone wants to be around people like that. Also certain personalities in VF are very "love them or hate them" type.

Victory Badges- things have gotten a bit more relaxed in this channel, but I know I have seen a few dozen times: "Badges! Keep on topic" when someone talked about something RL or non badge related or whatever. (note- I am NOT saying this is a bad thing, I am just saying that it is specifically a BADGE channel and more of a GAME related channel than a chatting channel)

Victory Limitless- the new kid (full thread here). There have been many times when builds were being discussed in VF and VB and people were told to "take it to tells." Or when someone had an awesome TF time and posted it and was later called a braggart. Victory Limitless is for speed runs, power gaming chat, hard core challenges, build chat, mentoring, helping those who want to get better, and a place to be able to boast your latest accomplishment without feeling judged. (in a lot of ways, I think some of these things are the purpose of many private channels, but I felt we needed a public channel for it)
Don't know anything about Limitless but I haven't seen any modding in forever. I know. Doesn't meen it doesn't exist. It does however seem to be few and far between.

    Quote:
So as you can see... all three channels are very different.
    No. I really don't. YMMV.

    Quote:
I would not be surprised if everyone reading this belonged to 2 or all 3 channels...
To reach the most people possible for what ever. Imagine how much easier it would be with fewer, or one, channels. I'm not saying it has to happen. If every one's happy in their little fiefdom, cool. It just seems silly to me since every one's always looking for team et. al. to have multiple channels for essentially the same thing.
  13. You know what? I’ve put too much time thinking about this and here’s a few questions.

What the hell is our server population? A hundred or so? Why the hell do we need more than one global channel? How many global channels do we have, even? It’s not like the old days when there’d be “off topic” conversations that’d go for hours. No spamming or trolling now. Doesn’t it make sense to consolidate all the channels down to one or two?

Shouldn’t we as a low pop server ™ try to stay together?
  14. A few observations, if I may.

    1. I don’t know when you’re on ’09 but I very rarely saw any conversation in there ,about anything, prior to the silencing.

    2. From what I saw every one that was in ’09 was in the original.

    3. Since ’09 was created due to a technical issue that no longer exists and you can enjoy the exact same freedom of speech in VB any way, what exactly is the big deal?
  15. Yes. Once again I'll be hosting fireworks over Atlas Park for July 4th. On the 1st full night cycle after 8pm EST, I urge every one to show up, fly up and fire off their most brilliant, colorful power so the people on the ground can see them to simulate fireworks.

Hope to see you all there.
  16. Kinetic mele/willpower is the set.
  17. I didn't get the impression that the panels were cut sceens. I'll have to go back and reread that artical.

As far as Galaxy being a ghost town. True. However the only reason Atlas isn't is that there are a lot of missions higher up that take you back there. I never though I'd say this but I miss seeing every one loitering in Atlas BS'ing and having costume contests.
  18. What's the conventional wisdom on slotting these powers?

    Awesome Victory

Sorry to see you go. The community needs players like you. Having said that....

Yeah. I've tried to quit. A few times. Sure you don't miss it now but give a few months. Quiting. Heh. Good luck with that.

  21. The actual game mechanic sounds awesome. Giant swords? Unrelentingly stupid.

Which is really weird when you consider the other powersets in the game that I don't even blink an eye at.

  24. Well then.... Here's some things to bandy about. What do people from the Etoile Islands sound like? I imagine they speak English but with a slight French accent. Incidentally are the Etoile Islands recognized by the U.N.? Would the SoA be considered the standing army of the Islands?
