I havnt been able to get into Corrs really, the only one iv been able to play past level 20, was a Fire/Pain.(level 26)
Im a Defender Brat!
However, someone just mentioned a AR/Sonic Corr?
That sounds fun!
My first character on this game was a AR/Dev Blaster, and I started playing back when CoV hit the shelves. So its a little hard for me to take that big of a hit to AR's damage by using it on a Defender. So this might be a Excuse to make a Corr.I may choose a diffrent secondary on the grounds that iv already got a Sonic/Sonic Defender, and I try not to play the same sets twice if I can help it.
Im already using the following on Defenders, so I want to avoid them when I make the AR/ Corr.
Cold/
Storm/
Sonic/
Traps/
Dark/
Of coarse Empathy doesnt count, cause its hero side ATs only, and i havnt decided on if ill make a Empathy Defender....but thats another post in its self. -
Quote:Scatter? What scatter?have fun with the scatter on the ice, elec ones.
also traps/cold/storm will never beat kin in the farming department where your goal is to maximize profit by defeating foes as fast as possible
Cold/Ice...yeh...I dont see any real Scatter issues there. They hardly move, and the mob dies rather quick.I dout youv ever seen, or played one past level 20.
Storm/Elec, yet another one, I dout youv ever tried, or seen.Your soo totally wrong about this one.Proper slotting of this build can sap the endurance out of the mobs in record time.
Freezing Rain, everythings on its butt, you jump in, throw out a couple AoEs, and the mob no longer has the endurance to fight you. Then if your good, you can always trigger that Thunder Strike from your epic pool, knocking them down again, and then fire off a couple more AoEs.If most of them arnt dead, or your dead, then you did something wrong.
Traps/Dark, this ones rather fun, and easly to solo HUGE mobs with, if you watch what your doing. If youv never played either of these sets by them selves, then you really wont understand it at all.Its very powerful.
FF Drone, with just SOs gives you 21% def agenst everything.Your dark blasts drop the toHit, on everything.Your capped after you hit a mob on your defense using your blasts, then you lock them down, get a acid mortar going, then a poison trap, both very quick to set up I might add. Then get right in the middle of them, set up a Trip Mine, and BOOM!
I do 200 damage at level 27 with a Trip Mine agenst +2 mobs.Wait till I get Time Bomb, then drag 5 Mobs onto my traps, set the bomb, and keep them locked down. The damage will be earth shattering for a Defender. How do I stay healed on this build?Simple, the Medicine pool.I dont get hit often, but when I do, I just heal it up.
Kin on a Defender for solo farming, Sucks.I have a level 37 Kin/Sonic Defender, belive me when I use the word SUCKS! -
Umm, guys, I wasnt pointing out, or complaining about how I have a hard time getting teams, I was trying to make a post with some of your Defender experiances that would be a helpful read to new players who come to the forums, to try to assist with stopping the unfortunate H34lz3r builds out there, that really make Defenders look bad.
Obviously the point wasnt grabbed the way I exspected it to be. -
Ok, iv got a issue with making a controller.Ill add that in the past, iv made controllers on my old Vet account, but this time, im having a power secondary issue.
Iv never played with Gravity Control before on a Controller.Matter of fact, the only 2 I have played are Plant and Earth. Both sets I enjoy, but I try not to use the same sets twice on any given AT, for Primary, or Secondary.
Now, Gravity Control is final for this caharcter, iv already got a name, and costume standing by.My only problem, is that im torn between 3 diffrent Secondaries for this Controller.
/Force Fields
/Trick Arrows
/Radiant Aura
All 3 of these Secondaries have really good points to them, and I can use them all very well. The major problem is, WHICH ONE?!
Force Fields does alot of KB, and Repel, and team Def%, which is rather fun, and easy to use solo, or in a team, and would allow me time for focus on Controlling.
Radiant Aura would give me Perma Hasten, and Perma AM the moment I got SOs at level 22, and would allow me to spam my contol powers none stop, and my mag 3 hold thats on a 4 minute timer, would be slashed down to a 30 second timer. So this makes this look extreemly Viable, however, I may want to save Radiant Aura for a diffrent Controler build, so this one is kinda last on the list, because it doesnt really mesh well with the Tech Suit theme im giving the Controller.
Trick Arrows, this set goes well with any Controller Primary, with the exception of Illusion. This would grant me massive amount of Debuffs, and adding them to my controls, they would get max saturation, and igniting the Oil Slick wouldnt effect my pet either, because Singularity from what im told, follows you around and fights at range. So it would be a extreemly good secondary, and even add some additional fire damage to the smashing damage scale gravity brings. Not to mention because of the multitude of arrows you have, you can easly toss out a wide array of debuffs if the fight involves more then 1 or 2 mobs.
Anyone have any advice on which would be a better match for Gravity Control, Thematically, and combonation wise? -
Quote:Ok, let me exsplain my stance on saying I dont want to make it a Brute.I'll explain.
You stated yourself that you have issue with the view that orcs are all savage, and dumb with no ability to reason.
You say that view is incorrect, and that orcs can in fact reason and fight with finesse and tactics.
Then you went on to say that you're not going to make your orc character a brute, because brutes are all smash and can't fight with finesse and tactics.
You are dismissing brutes as being big and dumb with no ability to reason.....which is exactly the same thing as saying an orc is big and dumb with no ability to reason.
Basically I'm calling you on being a hypocrite. You're saying that all brutes are the same, while you challenge the notion that all orcs are the same.
If you want to stick to your guns about orcs, you have to concede that I have a point about brutes, or you will, in fact, be a hypocrite. And I'm not being insulting here, what you are doing in this thread is the literal definition of hypocrisy.
Im very well aware brutes can be of a intellegent cast, however, in stories and books with Orcs, they tend to make them out as angry, and ill tempered savages, and commonly called Brutes.
Now, do me a favor, go read what it says about Brutes. The longer they fight, the ANGRIER they become.I was trying to avoid the Stereo-type, that Orcs are Brutes, that use Barbarian tools, rather then tools like a Sword, which is considered a Knightly, or Civilized melee weapon.
Its rather common knowledge, that 9 times out of 10, when someone becomes enraged, there intellegence level, as well as there capability for reasoning drops, and Aggressive, and Physical performance increase.
As for your jumping the gun, saying im being a hypocrite, I really think you should have read what I wrote in the first place.
I wrote, that in "Stories", Orcs are seen as dumb, brutish, morons effectlivly, and I wanted to avoid that Stereo-Type with my Orc Themed character.
Oddly enough, in most stories, Orcs dont use shields, and are considered rather fast, so SR does fit them rather easly when it comes to speed, but apperantly those knights wearing 100lbs of armor have a +100 to there toHit buffs, cause the Orc is commonly feld in 1 swing.
Now, im glad your taking a political stance on my post here, but its totally unwarranted, and you really need to go back to school, for reading comprehension.
I have however, need to go back to school for the obvious spelling errors. -
I dont use Auto for anything, its unrealiable, and if you have a diffrent power cued, it doesnt go off.
I do notice people that put Hasten, as well as Build Up on Auto, and I cant help but think its a waste when they do that.Iv watched a Player on a Scrapper Auto his BU, and it would fire off by the time a mob dropped, and other times, before he could reach the next mob, so he would miss the opertoonity to capitalize on the 10 seconds of power, and just wasted it.
This by far isnt the first time iv watched someone put a BU on Auto, and end up shaking my head when I see it.
There was a time where I tried a few years ago to use Auto for my Rad/Rad Defender, to see if I could get my Perma Hasten and AM up without watching for the next rotation, but it failed pretty badly. -
Quote:Huh?Battle Axe/SR brute then?
It seems you're the one that isn't thinking outside the box. You think of brutes as being big angry dumb guys who smash things because they can't comprehend the idea of finesse. Which is what you say people think about orcs. There is no rule saying a brute has to be big and dumb any more than there is saying an orc has to be.
I have a DM/SR brute that is very finesse oriented. The fury mechanic in his case represents the adrenaline rush he gets from fighting rather than getting mad and smashing things.
You lost me.
You talk about Finesse, then tell me im not thinking out of the box either, yet you suggjest Battle Axe and being a Brute, instead of a Scrapper?
I think you need another cup of coffee. -
Quote:I think your funny.I've never understood the "omgwantnao" feeling people seem to have with Poison. You can tell by looking at it that it's built with Masterminds in... mind.
In a few limited situations, it performs well enough (against big, single-target enemies like EBs and AVs), but the rest of the time it's just Diet Radiation. On any other Buff/Debuff AT it would just compete with Trick Arrows as the weakest choice. And it might even come out looking worse, perception-wise, just because it wouldn't have the RPer/comicbook fan following that Trick Arrows has.
Trick Arrows is anything but weak, and neither is Poison.
I read your posts on how Trick Arrows is needing to be given more power, and I wanted to reply, but I was laughing way to hard that I couldnt type, so I didnt bother.
I think Poison would have a following that pretty much matches Illusion Control on Controllers, by being very ST minded.Alot of players feel that if they dont take AoE blasts on Defenders, or Blasters, that they are safe from Agro, which would be horribly wrong, so they take Illusion for a Controller, because it focuses on 1-2 enemies at a time.
Since Plant has so many controls and damage in it, Posion would be a rather decent mix with it.Plant Control eats minions, and most Lts. with very little effort.Bosses are the only hurdle for most Controler Primaries, and looky there, Poison is a Single Foe set with harsh Debuffs. Not to mention the Noxious Gas that you could put on your Fly Trap, that half the time stands by you, and the other half of the time, its in melee range bitting a enemy in the mob.Either way, somethings going to choke on your mobile posion trap.So that power is more then effective for a Contoller......except for mind Control.
Besides, all the pets you can get for Controllers are available at level 32, and the Nox Gas would be gained at level 38, so I still yet again see it fitting a Controller.
I look forward to your next post.Your the one person Iv read on this forum that makes me laugh, keep up the good work! -
Quote:A level 50 Dark/Dark?You lucky dawg!Would someone/s please post some example builds for me to have a look at in mids.
Having run a search I can see 3 or 4 of which some are so old I get errors when trying to view them.
I am dusting off an old level 50 and she needs a serious overhaul and slotting session, she is a team player and the epic pool would be open to suggestion.
many thanks
Thats like the one Defender you dont have to really worry about slotting, because they are beasts already.Only thing id possibly say would be anything near what the build could use for IOs would be End Redux, or Recovery. The rest is taken care of, and congradulations to grabbing up the best all around balanced Defender in the game, and dusting it off.
As for a Epic Pool, id go with whatever floats your boat. Most go with Dark Mastery, but I am going for Electric Mastery for my Dark Defender.I like being able to Thunder Strike mobs. -
Quote:Well, I thought about SD for the Brute, but then I didnt want to take that set again because one of my Brutes has it, but, I may do what you suggjest anyhow.Mainly because Ninja Run is a good theme modifier when it comes to a shield character.Broad Sword is very SMASH. It should do the trick for you. You might also consider going with Shield Defense instead of Super Reflexes - it'll boost your Broad Sword damage, plus Shield Charge will send your enemies flying. The combination is the most fun I've had from 1-50, and seems fairly well-suited to your concept.
Shield goes in front, and weapon trails behind ready to be swung, as well as you run with shield still in front...like a shield should be!
Horusaurus, im sorry to dissapoint you, but thats what the commonly thought of Orc is, but if you fish around, and research them, they arnt all angry mace and axe carrying savages with IQs the size of there shoes. They tend to have way more control then that, and think like a human can. -
-
Hey Devs, and all you's guys out in CoX land.
How many of you would want to see the Masterminds Poison Secondary on a diffrent AT?
Id drool and melt in the chair if I could have a Plant/Poison Controller.
I dont want any votes, or any petitions for this, I just wanna mention it would be FRICKIN COOL!
Anyone else? -
Well, id love to see it given to Defenders before I would Corrs.
The only reason id play a Corr at all is because I cant get Pain Domination on a Defender, and if Poison was given to Corrs, id reluctantly make a Corr, because I acctually love the Poison set from MMs.
Iv tried to get into Corrs, and im aware they get a tiny bit more damage on there damaging attacks, and then Scourge %s after half HP is cool and all, but I dont really miss it on a Defender.
As for reworking the set?Id have to agree with that.Mainly because a couple of the powers need a new method of transfer.
Noxious Gas would have to be player Ancored, but how the player wouldnt choke, would be a bit of a stretch.
Then Poison Trap.Id say give a Posion Gas Grenade you can throw at Range, make it more Corr friendly.
other then that, the power set isnt all that bad, and would do rather well on a Controller more then it would anything else.
Id jump at the chance to make a Plant/Poison Controller. -
Im starting to see the pattern of why people dual box.
Its to complicate the game, or make it harder to play.I can probably think of 100 diffrent things more challenging and harder then complicating something. -
Quote:I went Traps/Rad my self, and do more damage from it, but thats my prefrence.Heh we started one last week on Justice. Best fun I've had in years...total chaos and fun with +80% to +100% def with all those FFGs floating around.
We pretty much just try to aggro everything and anything at +2/x8 and take a static defense while pwning anything and everything. At level 20 so far and we have to force ourselves to take breaks or else our other gfriends would be left out for hours and hours.
It's so much fun it should be disallowed. Standing point blank and hitting +2 mobs with buckshot while barely getting hit is something everyone should try.
Given the fact that we don't do a huge amount of damage battles can run for a while, but once everyone gets/slots assault, tactics BU proc and acid mortar with achilles procs the pwnage will go even faster.
Edit: Adding picture to see how crazy it is
Anyhow, just wait till you get Trip Mines.I can run into a Mob, Solo, or on a team, and nearly wipe the entire mob with a Trip Mine. They are that powerful. -
4 combonations of Defenders come to mind when I think of Farming.
Cold/Ice
Storm/Ice
Storm/Elec
Traps/Dark
Yes, these can farm. -
Well, I have a couple of Brutes, but they arnt my favorite AT in the game.(Blastphemy, I know.)
I am a Defender Worshiper.I eat them, sleep them, and cant stop making news ones.
Anyhow, I have 2 that I built out of concept.
First one, is a remake of my old Tanker, Stom Thacher, which was a FA/SS Tanker.I made him into a brute, with a meaner, and angrier look, and he is acctually rather fun.His concept is that he is a Biker, and a half Demon, with a sever attitude, and anger problem.(He hits frickin HARD!)
Then I have a Axe/SD Cybornetic Brute, that I also made for concept, that uses a Kinetic Cybornetic Suit with a Shield, that slowly ampliphies his physical abilities through a kinetic phase shift accelerator,(My excuse of why his damage increases in a fight.) and im currently questing for my Ritki Axe.I hate hunting down raids.....jerks... Its the final piece to my Costume, and it doesnt really look like a Axe, but more like a laser edged Techy weapon.
Im not sure ill be making any more Brutes, but you never know. -
Am I the only person who runs TFs, and STs solo? You know?Add 3 people as fillers, then start it up, and rid your self of them , and do it your self?
Anyone? -
Quote:Well, for someone like my self, who doesnt have a friends list, nore am I in a SG, due to other things in my Life, like work, time constraints, ect.I dont commonly group with the same people day to day, so its alot easier for me to find these idiots, or otherwise inexperianced players.I don't get how you manage to find such a high percentage of idiots when looking for teams. I've never been kicked from or refused a team for not being a healer and my Defenders are a TA/A and a Traps/AR.
But yeah Defenders in general are overpowered in a team setting, some more than most.
An Empath attacking is not "off-support" they are a Defender. An Empath who doesn't attack is a "half-Defender". Calling an Empath who attacks "off-support" implies that they are less of an Empath than one who doesn't attack while in fact they are more. Or to quote the Starship Troopers movie: I only have one rule. Everyone fights. No one quits.
As for Defenders being over powered on a team? Not from where im standing.Id say more balanced would be the word your looking for.
Defenders offer the best of there combined worlds, or power sets, and can be played beautifully in the hands of a compitent player. Most times, this is not the case.
As for that guy telling the team he was a Off Support Defender, I wasnt the one who said it, he was.It wasnt my words, however watching how he played was the estimation of why I veiwed him as a good Empathy Defender in the first place.Nothing urks me more then a Empathy who wont use, or buy up his/her attack powers at all.
As it stands, I do plenty of Damage on my Defenders, and for most to say they do poor damage, thats not really true. From what I watched on this Empathy/Elec Defender, he did a very good job at delivering Damage.
Thinking back on his playing, its what convinced me to make my Storm/Elec Defender. He did a really good job causing damage for a set that most harold as a weak blast set, and I enjoy it alot.
However, the bad playing of many other players ona Empathy/no Attack Defener build gave Empathy a sore spot with me, and will take some heavy consideration before I make one, but as I said before, I may make a Controller with it in the future. -
Ok, I just looked at my Freedom Server, and noticed that iv made mostly Defenders.
I have :
Dark/Dark
Sonic/Sonic
Traps/Rad
Storm/Elec
Cold/Ice
Each of these Defenders can Solo, and work there powers to control better then many Controllers iv teamed with, and do more damage as well.
In team settings, these builds provide alot of support without sacrificing there offensive capabilities, and can solo rather well. Some of these defenders I dont have past level 24 yet, and they already provide substantial support.
While some of my others are level 35+, it kinda urks me when im spamming every few minutes, that im looking to join a PUG, or team, and I get alot of /tells asking me what I am, and dissmissing me if im not a Empath, or Rad.This, im rather used to, and getting on a team takes alot of work, since they dont want the Defender you play.
Iv decided, that its not worth the time sitting there for a hour, and sometimes 2, before a team decides they will grab me up.So iv been making my own PUGs, and I purposely dont grab up the player that sends out a Broadcast, "healer lft".
Iv lost a few people making a team when they tell me to grab up the healer, and I refuse, so they leave.Makes it a little furstrating, but theres usually some people out there that will try to team with me, out of faith, or curiosity.
On many occastions, the team requests that I up the difficulty of the missions, they are just to easy.Considering that its usually just me as the only Defender on the team, I occassionally grab up another Defender that doesnt try to be a Healer, but a Defender, and we complelty Dominate the missions, and the team steamrolls through them, without a healing Defender.
Im not sure if Defenders are just that powerful, or if iv learned how to use them so well, that everything I play can overpower anything, or if Defenders just get a bad rap in general.
Iv broadcasted "lvl 35 Dark/Dark Defender, lft", and have been passed up many times, for the person braodcasting that they are a healer.
Its kinda funny to see that happen, because with a properly played Dark on a team, you pump out heals that make any Empathy blush, and they come out rather fast, thanks to your Dark Servant, who by him self can do the healing to help keep the team alive if your -toHit debuffs just wernt enough.Iv yet to have to sit back and do any real healing on my Dark, and I rarly touch that button because my Dark Servant spams the AoE heal that gives over 350 HP every cast, every 5 seconds, and the Servant tends to be up close in combat, close to the team anyhow.
Then iv got my Sonic Defender, this bad girl can give 68% damage resiatance to a Soft-capped Player, like a SR Scrapper, or a SD user, making them effectivly as powerful as a Granite Tanker. Not to mention the ability to cap a resistance Tank to capped resistance, making him pretty much invinsible, while taking down the mobs damage resistance by 50% total in 2 moves.Iv also done teams with this Defender, and not had a healer. If its dead too quickly to do any real harm to the team, whats the point of that healer?
Then one of my favorite Defenders iv made.A Traps/Rad.This build is rather fun, and I can easly be a Wall of Defense, and DeBuffs.I also dont have any toggles to worry about, so I can freely just blast away with my AoE Attacks.By the way, if you think Poison Trap is fun from the watching them Puke factor, why dont you jump right beside that Tanker on the team, and set a Step Mine after you do a couple AoE attacks, and youv just about Obliterated that mob.(It hits frickin hard!)The Rad Blasts Secondary also aids in harder +4 missions, because it allows the team to hit the baddies alot easier through using my attacks. It does so much, that a healer isnt needed after I alpha mobs.
Ok, next up we have my Storm/Elec Defender. This build is just extreemly volitile in a team, and very survivable solo. When you can do alot of deBuffs, from dropping resistances, to contained KD, to -toHit, and extreem Endurance Sapping on your attacks, the mobs kinda stand there, waiting for the killing blows.Theres just no real reason to have a Healer when youv sapped a mob in a couple hits, and they have no endurance to attack with.Fun build.
Then we have my Cold/Ice.This one is kind of a slow rise to power build. At earlier levels, just like a Fire/Kin Controller, it kinda sucks, but when you get in the level 28+ range, it really takes off.It offers some KD in Sleet, and so many SLOOOOOOOWS that if you play it just right, no one attacks, or moves....ever.However, the Gem of the set is Sleet. It drops damage resistance by 30%, for the entire area it hits, just like Freezing Rain. Then if you want to do the math for Frost Breath, then for Ice Storm, yeh....thats gonna hurt! For earlier levels, id say this one needs help with the support, but it really gives its self that support when its in a team anyhow, by using the ice armors in its primary on other players.Which commonly, dont need a healer after you shield them.
Now, these are just my assesments and how I play my Defenders, and id have to say, that its kind of interesting that people dont perfer a mob stopper, or a steamrolling Defender on a team.Defenders are capable of so much more then the majority of players use them for.
To be honest, iv only ever seen 1 good Empathy Defender in the entire game since iv played from the release of CoV.(Vet player, new account.)
What made this guy a good Empathy, is that he acctually attacked, and made sure people knew he was "Off Support", like how people mention they are "Off Tankers", and gladdly fired off a heal here and there when it was needed, but was even more glad to fire off his Electrical Blasts that helped alot in damage, and Sapping mobs.
Im not sure if iv ever make a Empathy Defender, but I have been thinking about making a Empathy Controller.
Im not agenst playing Controllers, but I find them to be a bit lacking in some areas that Defenders excell. So if I end up making a Empathy Controller, its either going to have Fire, Plant, or Gravity as its Primary.Mainly because itll bring some offense to the table, and offense normally helps alot more in the long run with a Empathy, then someone sitting back trying to spam heals, and failing at the job.
Most likly itll be Plant, simply because it offers alot of tools and damage to a single primary, allowing Empathy to make better use of its abilities.
Now, I know there are some of you out there that have some more interesting Defender builds then I have, tell us your experiances with this class of hero, and it may inspire newer players to step out of whats suggjessted, to whats functional, and fun. -
Well, id say you have a learning curve hurdle in front of you by comming to play a Defender from a Scrapper.
Heres a Big tip on selecting your Primary for the Defender.
DONT...... PICK....... EMPATHY!
You will be severly dissapointed, and as someone already pointed, bored of the set.Not just bored, but its a bad step in a diffrent direction when you choose to make a Defender after playing Scrappers.
Theres plenty of Hardy, and Rough Defender builds that come to mind, that would more fit a Scrapper players mantality.Mainly because it can offer the chance to make a fighting Defender, while still passing out passive Buffs and Debuffs for the entire teams survival.
I have a Sonic/Sonic Defender that I play commonly on Freedom. Not only does its attacks do more damage then many other Defender Secondaries, It drops the damage resistance of the bad guys you face.Allowing you, AND your team to hit harder.Granting them DPS.
Now for Sonic Primary, id have to say that many people will not play this set due to it being a +Resistance set and not a +Def% set.
Its a very potent set.
I run around with a Sonic Dispursion Bubble, thats as big as a FF players Large Bubble. All in side of it get a 23% Damage resistance Boost, then you add in the damage resistance buffs that last for 4 minutes per cast, adding another 45% damage resistance to ALL damages in 2 protection powers that last 4 total minutes.
Lets do the math.If someone stays in the Feild, and are buffed, they get a 68% recived damage DECREASE!Thats effectivly making everyone you protect Resistance Tank.
Then lets put what happens to a Scrapper, or a Tanker when you hit these powers onto them.
SR Scrapper now has 68% damage Resistance, on top of his 35-40% possibly Soft Capped. You just made that SR Scrapper into a fast moving Granite Tanker with full damage potential.
BUT WAIT!
THERES MORE!
You also have the ability to put up a Sonic Resonance Aura on a team mate of your choosing.Tank, Scrapper, Whatever they are, can get into a melee fight, and drop a entire mobs Damage Resistance by 30%.Then say you Howl at the mob, a wide moderate damage Cone from your Secondary.
OOPS!You just took them down another 20% Resistance for a total of 50%.They now take heafty damage, FROM EVERYONE!Inculding your self.
Now, it doesnt stop there.
Toughness iv been noticing grants 15% resistance to all damage to a Defender Class, but grants that 15% to smash/lethal only for other classes.(Unless its a error on the power description.)
Granting you, the Defender with another 23% resistance to damage on top of your Sonic Field.(assuming you gave it 3 SOs or resist)
So now you have 46 Damage resistance for your self, which effectivly just raised your Health bar by alot.
If you want to have the capability to fight, and pass out quick set it and forget it buffs, then this would be the combonation for you.
Also, Liquify, the level 32, tier 9 power of the Sonic Primary for a Defender. Its niiiiiiiice. -
Make a Mace/DA BRUTE!
BLLLLAAAAARG!
Ehem, anyhow, if you want to go with a Scrapper, id say Claws. -
Quote:Good to know, because when I Shield Charge into a mob, its going to get messy after I start swinging.Axe has alot of KD in it, and after getting Whirling Axe, and watching as it knocks down a entire mob when triggered, I have no dout that when I get higher level that ill be a juggernaught before IOs.I don't think it's unusual. Since our patrons don't always match up with themes as well as the hero element-driven APP's, you sometimes pick a combo that really doesn't make sense.
For example, my mace/stone brute doesn't have the patron powers for several reasons, such as not wanting to see the redraw, and thematically, it doesn't make sense to shoot lightning or dark magic when I'm just a rock carrying a pipe wrench.
Come to think of it, I really don't know why a rock carrying a wrench makes any sense either.
From a performance standpoint, sometimes the patrons help your character perform better - but not always. For example, maybe a /fire brute wants to use the patron AoE immob to immobilize enemies so they are stuck in a fire patch, so they go with web grenade or elec fences. Or perhaps you rolled dark melee and wanted a bit more AoE so you picked up dark obliteration. Also, gloom in dark melee is a *very* good attack, so I certainly took advantage of both of those powers for my DM/SD brute to add AoE and have a powerful single-target attack chain.
If the patron doesn't make sense to skip it, I wouldn't let anyone ruin your fun just because you didn't pick some power. My mace/stone brute doesn't miss the patron powers, and it was actually nice to be able to skip the patron arcs for once!
It has a extreem potential for Midigation from KD with Axe, and to me, that makes Axe/SD more survivable then many other /SD combonations.
In my mind, I see a SC knocking a mob down, then my +dmg Aura kicks in, and they start to get up.I hit Whirling Axe, they get KD'd again, and I swing Pendulum, and start my ST attack chain after that, while having enough recharge in SC and Whirling Axe to keep the mob on there butts.
I have a plan in mind that will grant all my attacks 2 End Redux SOs, while my Shield Defenses get 1-2 as well, depending on power.Axe is my Drainer, my Shield takes barly any at all.Thats why not taking a Patron will be favorable to ive slots to my attacks, and the fact that most of the Partons wont give me much Midigation beyond what Axe can do, its not very helpful.
As long as I can keep swining, ill wipe whats in front of me. -
