My computer has been bothering me for weeks that I've been running low on space. "Blah, blah, blah... Click here to let me erase random unused stuff on your computer without your final approval." So today, I decided to start diving into my computer in the endeavor to delete any unnecessary items from my hard drive. Manual.
Mind you, I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm not computer savvy at all, but that doesn't mean I trust my computer either.
Digging through this, that and some more of this, I do manage to delete a couple of things that I hope weren't that necessary to my computer's survival. Well, I'm still getting warning messages, so I decide to do another dive... This time, I click 'properties' on my computer's local disk. For those of you as unsavvy as I, that's the hard drive.
Right in front of me, it lists how much total space I have on my hard drive, how much is used, and how much is left. I'm thinking, "Oh! This is SO much easier then guessing!" ... So I stare for a few moments before I realize just what I'm looking at.
Capacity: 37.2 Gb
Free Space: 106 Mb
I'm pretty certain that it'll only be four or five more patches before I'm locked out of City of Heroes. Which... Kind of sucks... Anyways, now I'm at home looking for the next step. Any ideas? -
Quote:I've only managed to read the first four pages on the forum you've linked to (I lack the time to read more). Most people agree that CoH shouldn't be on the list, but there also seems to be a large number of people who love to say negative things about the game...
Based on what I've read, a number of them agree that City of Heroes shouldn't belong on that list. And those that left our game had expressed their reasons for leaving, either due to inevitable waning interest or previously expressed concerns also made by our community. Ie. Overly repetitive maps and 'constant thug bashing' (dynamic content that doesn't require attacking X in some way or form). None of the posts that I read had any focused bile aimed at our game. No real cheap shots or false accusations.
The only thing that I saw worth noting was the misconception that Champions Online was the alleged sequel to this game; and the one poster that had unknowingly reversed the words 'publisher' and 'developers.'
Quote:Hmm, Champions Online is somewhat of a CoX part duece.....but under a different publisher but still the same original developers, Cryptic. -
I'll say it: I loved it!

I do, in fact, see this to be the best use of your lists to date.

Quick post:
Howdy! Welcome to the game!
Obviously I'm a little late to the welcome wagon, and the others have already managed to give you the most important information, but I'm still willing to help any way I can!
Contact me here on the forums or in-game (@Sentinel IV is my global name) and I'll be willing to show you all the cool stuff. If you try to send me a tell (/t @Sentinel IV, <Message>) and it says that I'm not online, It'll save the message and give it to me when I log in. Assuming you take me up on my offer, let me know of a time/the server of your choice in which to meet up with you.

Quote:Hmm... I wouldn't know about the Justice server, but I know many groups of people across my three home servers (Infinity, Virtue and Pinnacle). You might be interested in those. You can send me a Private message if you're interested, unless you're adamant about staying on Justice. My 12-year old son and I play COH together and we are having problems finding a SG which accepts someone his age. He and I used to be in a SG called Phoenix Prime where he learned the ropes of how to be a good MMO citizen and how to use TS. When, our beloved SG disbanded, we both went on to do other things. Now, we have a renewed interest in playing COH/COV and would love to join a super hero themed SG.

My voice may not mean much, especially not having the reputation some of the other members in our community may have, but I am in full agreement with all posts in this thread.
Sam, keep rockin'. Your videos are an inspiration to my art craft. -

No, wait. Let me do it. -

Quote:Definitely the scanner.I think Wassy's referring to the tone values of your shading, alluding to how light the picture is over all. It could be a scanner issue, or you might need to darken certain sections here and there.
Also, how do I decrease the size of my pictures for posting? I'd rather not have giant pictures of doom taking over everyone's computer screens. -
Thank you all for providing feedback! I understand that I've got a long journey ahead of me and I'm thankful for the advice I received.
Quote:Very good point. For the geometric shape shading, don't forget about your reflected light. For instance, on the ball it wouldn't just gradate all the way to the darkest possible, it'll lighten up again some at the bottom from the light from your light source bounced back to the object from the surface its on.
The dramatic shading was part of the requirements I was given. I was asked to go from one extreme to the other, giving extra attention to where the light wasn't hitting. The exclusion of surfaces underneath the objects were also intentional, but it's something I could go back and retry.
Quote:Great observation. =) The advice I was given in my drawing class is that if you're drawing something that is machine-made and non-organic, to use a straight-edge or a ruler. The height lines on the cylinder and some of the edges of your cube aren't completely parallel.

Welcome to my little thread on progress! This thread features my artistic style and what I wish to offer to the City of Heroes community. Well, what little I can give, anyways.
Awhile ago, I took it upon myself to strengthen my artistic abilities with the activities I was able to do in my spare time. Now, I've still got a ways to go, but I'm utilizing my strengths and exercising my weaknesses. Even then, I recognize that the fastest way to better myself is to present my work in front of an audience, and take upon the challenges that audience wishes to give to me.
Er... Just... Give me a moment to get this darned website to accept my pictures...
Here we go! Wow, I love these new forums. Anyways, the first piece I present is an exercise I did with shading. And as odd as it sounds, shading happens to be my favorite part of a piece. I don't really know why, either. It's just what I feel most comfortable doing.
To my understanding, art is more then just shading. It's the ability to bring object to life, or give it personality. So I took a picture I found off of the internet and decided to recreate it through a pencil drawing.
Took me about five days to get everything just right, and I found myself rushing just to meet my personal deadline. But I'm happy with how it turned out.
On the topic of cats, my favorite subjects ended up being wildlife. So, it figures that my next piece be something around that topic.

Any advice or feedback would be welcome. I'm still trying to find a good way to color in the bird a little more, so any help on that topic would be nice.
Also, while I'm not exactly taking commissions, leave a picture you would like to have me draw and I'll try to do it. Especially since the most trouble I have is with the human anatomy. -
Which forums were you using?
I wish I was using those instead of the previous Official City of Heroes forums that featured horrible search capabilities.
Edit: I'm in love with the multi-quote. -
I like the new forums. May take some getting used to, and there's no doubt that they'll have to fix a few things, but here in about two weeks I'll be feeling right at home again.

Don't despair.
I have been led to believe there are some tails on the way. Not sure when, but when the Big Guy himself (Clayton) says so... we're gonna get something soon (tm).

Er... I didn't contradict myself. I think. I also apologize if I made my post seem rude. It was unintentional.
Edit: I still want to make a point: Every suggestion thread should be treated as original (Original is not the same as good), and feedback should be provided in the same manner. Link to an existing thread if one is available. -

No, says a lot of people. Edit: Although, it's not as hated as some would think, it's still a bit of a ways from being loved.
There was a thread awhile ago that Castle participated in. Those quotes were from that thread. Er... I think.
Personal opinion on how Suggestions and Ideas should work: If you don't like the suggested idea, tell him why it sucks. Give an alternate idea, if possible. If you have no ideas to add, at least give him information to tweak the idea or convince him to try again.
