New player looking for good people

Deadrin

Hey guys, I played a loooong time ago when the game was first released and I barely remember anything about it except that it was fun. CO has been a disappointment and I want to get in with some good players and team up and run some standard missions.

I want to role a support class, cc, heals and some nukes, so if there are any suggestions in that area would be appreciated. It would be nice if anyone would be interested in teaming up with me, showing me the ropes, etc.

Also if anyone wants to look me up in game I will update this post with my name once I get my char created. Sheesh once again I will be in the char creator for days!

I have been doing research on the state of the game and with the contentious topic of AE I have decided I don't want to farm solely, I want to experience all that the game has to offer. So what best way to understand the state of the game, installing the trial now. Thanks!

Welcome back.

Support is going to give you a few arguments, especially when mentioning healing . Many of the support sets - available heroside to Defenders and Controllers, villainside to Corruptors and Masterminds - are going to *have* a heal, a few sets having more than one, but it tends not to be the best way to give support. (It's probably the easiest to figure out, admittedly, but it's not a mindset to get stuck in.)

Going *strictly* by what you said (specifically including "nukes,") you'd want a Defender (heroside) or Corruptor (villainside.) That said, you may find Masterminds fun. They can take a little work with binds and such to give you a *lot* of control over the pets, but they can be insanely powerful. (I mention to people that my Thugs/Poison mastermind is the only character I've *accidentally* soloed an AV with. As in no prior preparation, hadn't really paid attention to the mission and was surprised to run into - but still beat easily.)

Controllers, of course, can be insane on their own - Healing? Who needs it when nothing can shoot at you?

One of the nice things that's been introduced to the game - I'd say recently, but it's been several issues now - is dual builds. At level 10 or later, you can go to any trainer and you'll have an option to "Select current build" - and you'd be able to switch between two builds. The reason I mention this is that you can make a support-heavy build if you wanted to, and then a "Solo" build for those times you feel like being a lone wolf. (Note that they don't share enhancements - you *do* have to train into and enhance each level on each build separately, but it won't bug you to do so 'til you swap builds.)

Hop down into the Archetype sections of the game. Being new (or newly returned) and starting fresh, you won't have a Kheldian or Soldier of Arachnos - the epic ATs that unlock when you get a 50 of the appropriate side. Browse through the others, though, and read up on the various powersets and what people think about playing any individual set. Read a bit, make use of the Paragon Wiki (see link in signature about "Clicki the Wiki") and when you find a few sets that sound like they might be fun, start asking questions.

Last but not least, poke through the server portion of the boards and look for times for events and such that meet your playtimes nicely. Start hooking up with potential supergroups there.

Okay, a big resource for information about the game is www.paragonwiki.com

Go to this page and from there you can read about what changed with each issue.

You say it was a looooooong time ago that you played. I would suggest starting with a scrapper. They are very simple and very durable. I think they're an excellent archetype to start with to learn the ropes.

If you want someone to explain stuff, I play mostly on Infinity and my global is @Ironblade1

Quick post:

Howdy! Welcome to the game!

Obviously I'm a little late to the welcome wagon, and the others have already managed to give you the most important information, but I'm still willing to help any way I can!

Contact me here on the forums or in-game (@Sentinel IV is my global name) and I'll be willing to show you all the cool stuff. If you try to send me a tell (/t @Sentinel IV, <Message>) and it says that I'm not online, It'll save the message and give it to me when I log in. Assuming you take me up on my offer, let me know of a time/the server of your choice in which to meet up with you.

City of Heroes taught me that when the world is burning, you don't just stand by and watch, you grab a fire extinguisher and do whatever you can to stop it-even if it's not much at all. Sign the petition to keep City of Heroes alive HERE.
