I could be terribly wrong about this, but i was under the impression that the "Hero" or "Villain" in missions meant that they affected your standing as a hero or villain once they were completed (do a "Hero" mission and you're one step closer to the blue side). If that's the case, I assume AE missions don't affect this? I know it's very unlikely that they will, just thought I'd check.

The link was too long and cut a bunch of itself out... let me try: Click here and hopefully it will work.

No problem. I debated on the wording, but stuck with what I posted. Glad it helped.
As for whoever asked for screenshots... I'll work on that. But you can look yourself: I *think* it was the backflip that made me reconsider that it was just an appearance thing. At one point, in the jump, there was a big bump that went below the body as she was returning to the ground. Very weird. It happens quickly and you have to be at an interesting angle to see it, but whoever pointed it out first was correct, and I just wanted to see if they were. -
So I looked closely at my female widow's crotch as she jumped using Ninja Run. I do see the appearance of an enlargement, but it seems to me that it's a result of the way the body is built and moves during ninja run. You can see the bulge slightly in regular jumping, too. In the ninja run jump, the legs go higher (the knee is closer to the face) than during regular jump. This isolates the area between the legs, making it look like it got bigger, even though it's just being shown on its own all of a sudden.
Ok never mind I looked even more closely, and the stomach gets sucked in and the extra material makes its way to the crotch when standing still in ninja run. This becomes very noticeable when actually jumping. But it still happens during regular jump, just not as noticeably because the crotch is its normal, smaller size. -

I liked these a lot, but yeah, they definitely should have been publicized more, I only discovered them a week after they were posted.
Shouldn't Plum Blossom's have been in Chinese?
Did the Rikti use the Presdigitator's wand to help them learn magic?
Fromt he history section of the website:
"All was silent for about 15 minutes. Then a tremendous explosion rippled out from the open portal, tearing through the Rikti base and instantly annihilating everything within a square mile." Is that Tin Mage's doing? And if so, I have to wonder when he activated his oblivion runes. Seems to me he would have had to wait until nearly everyone but Hero 1 was dead to avoid blowing up Omega team himself.
Am I the only one that keep thinking Ajax was the character in the Dark Horse CoH comics, because that character's name was actually Apex?
Also, shouldn't Hero 1's cape be bigger, and have the Union Jack on both sides:

Question: are Janet Kellum the contact and Valerie Kellum the woman who became Valkyrie related?
Is the Lord of Frosts involved with the Winter events in any way?
Quote:I don't recall Ghost Falcon's dimension being specifically said to be the Praetorian dimension.Though, chalk me up to being a little disappointed that time was spent answering the question about Ghost Falcon/Invisible Falcon. That's all already in-game.
I think they are. Or at least she'll become a vigilante. -
So I decided to acquiesce to your request. I thought it was pretty funny that the boards thanked me ever so politely for taking rep away from someone.

This might not be appropriate for this thread, but I noticed that the patch notes list Pulse Rifle Burst's syncing issue to be fixed. Hooray for the things in this thread getting done! Nice work.

Is PlayNC a kids' company now, or what? Why was that logo so playful at the beginning of the vid? -
Did I say Pulse Rifle Blast? I definitely meant Burst. Pulse Rifle Burst. Yeah.
(sorry for the double post but I guess I can't edit the previous one anymore?) -
I just started playing a Robotics Mastermind, and it seems to me that the blast from Pulse Rifle Blast is late. The sound goes off, my character makes a shooting motion, and about a second later a red beam goes from the rifle to the bad guy, or wherever it missed.
-
Maybe their interrupt time is just really short. On my blaster, I have it down low enough that I can start a snipe, run halfway to the target, and then have it fire off.
P.s. Memphis_Bill, the search tip in your sig is pretty nifty. I will have to start using it. -
I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this (19 pages is a lot to [not] read through) but I'm pretty stoked that I got free trial accounts in Lineage II and Guild Wars. I know, I probably could have gotten them anyways, but it was just a nice unexpected bonus.

Aw come on. My dad is not gonna drive me down to San Diego for some stupid pass... Oooh.. maybe I'll convince him to take me to Comic Con and he can go to that party and he'd have a reason to go.

Heh. Those were my thoughts at first, until I read it would be at a separate bar. There are laws about this sort of thing.
BUT
It would have been nice of the powers that be to hold the party in a location that wasn't exclusive, and just hand out limited amount drink tickets to people with valid IDs. That way, everyone (at Comic Con) would have been able to enjoy the party. Oh well. I'll be dropping by the booth for the in game item, at any rate. Next year, things will be different... -

Actually, the two free slots that were launched with the Character Slot service / Issue 12 *will* end at some point in the future.
If you have not claimed or assigned those slots to a server, then after the window closes, you won't get those two free slots.
This was noted in the Issue 12 Release Notes.
We have not yet announced when the window for claiming the two free character slots will end, but we will give advance notice prior to ending it.
[/ QUOTE ]
So... If we've used, say, three out of four free slots, does that final free slot count as a vet reward slot or a limited time offer slot?
*edit: Almost forgot. First after a redname! -
So I'm not going to read through 12 pages to see if this is addressed:
Do the Minotaurs use their horns to attack? I've only seen them punching and axeing in the two ITFs I've done. If they don't, they totally should. Use 'em if you've got 'em, right? -
Great idea. I looked through this thread, and I don't think this specific idea was put forward:
Using an Ouroboros style system. Heroes and villains go to a co-op zone. They can form a team, or go solo. Team leader clicks the contact, which brings up a list of arcs for both sides. Once an arc is chosen, all villains on the team are automatically on probation, or all heroes are automatically under duress. Usual Task Force restrictions apply. As in Ouroboros, clicking on a giant teleporter would take everyone directly to the contact. Upon completion of the arc, or quitting of the team/task force, a countdown begins, ending with teleportation back to the co-op zone. OR the arc ends, and you can stay in the current opposite faction zone you're in ONLY, and can not do any other content.
As far as team composition goes, I don't think there should be limits. Normal co-op zones don't have restrictions, and forcing a team of two heroes and three villains to either find another hero or kick a villain would make people unhappy and prevent some people from experiencing content. However, if there weren't players of the opposite faction, and a villain tried to do a villain arc, an error message would pop up, saying "You need a hero!" or something.
As far as soloing goes: villains can blackmail from afar, and villains can decide to do, or be coerced into doing, good without a hero present. Soloing is okay in my book, and I think soloing should be doable in as many situations as possible in CoX, to keep the current trends going.
The game mechanics might require that the arcs be limited to their own level, but that could be explained by a trust issue (we don't trust you, so we're knocking your power down a bit. Your patron/duressor also had theirs knocked so they couldn't push you around). And for the higher level ones, you could say that the task required the party to be at their full power, otherwise it wouldn't get done.
Other than those automatic level changes, I don't think anything should be done with the current sk/ex system. In current co-op zones, heroes and villains have to sk/ex as normal, otherwise experience will be sacrificed, and I see no reason to do otherwise here.
The distance from probation officer/blackmailer doesn't make sense to me, and would probably be hard to do. I love the idea of ambushes if you get too far, but in my system above, people can do this solo. Not to mention the fact that if a hero is trying to get villain badges, the hero can just get a villain friend to stay within 200 yards of them until they're done.
This brings us to badges and other things content related. I say that the opposite faction should be allowed to get any badges that the devs see fit. That's not really my call, and has been discussed earlier. As far as other content, I think that timing the story arcs could work. So could a timer once an arc is completed. So could allowing a person to stay ONLY in the opposite faction zone they are in when the arc ends or when you leave the team/quit the TF, and not being able to click contacts, markets, etc. When you try to zone out, you are automatically taken to the original co-op zone (unless you use a base or Pocket D 'porter). In Siren's Call, at least, when a hero clicks on the villain store, she says "We don't serve your kind here." Do that for all villain contacts except the current arc being done, and vice versa, and you're set. -

One of the game's design flaws is that too much of the mission text is only exposed to the team leader.

QFT.

Not really. You just have to look for it. By clicking on the "Explosion" next to any mission's short description (including the current active mission) the window will pop open that has the whole mission's "story" in it as it was displayed when the mission owner received it.

I just discovered this little thing after over two years of playing. I used to have to go into the missions tab, find the mission, and then click "more." Now I can do all that in one fell swoop, hooray! -
Ok, having done the TF, I can now talk about that. It is, in a word, AWESOME. Yes, the last battle is hard, and the last mish took us one of our two hours to complete. But it was a great ride. Yes, the last battle is VERY frustrating, but still pretty fun. The whole "epic" feel of it was also, great, since it truly finally felt like I was one hero of a small team, going up against big odds and a HUGE army. The bodies of Roman soldiers littering the sand made my day. Not to mention the fact that those guys are somewhat hard for my blaster to solo, so taking them out in huge numbers was pretty satisfying and felt like an accomplishment. I can see how the large numbers of ambushes would be frustrating, but I loved 'em. Gave it a sense of realism. And the Surgeons' AI was pretty cool, made things interesting. Anyways, thumbs up from me on the TF!
Thumbs down, however, on what the NPCs in Cimerora say. How exactly does "Romanus Namus" know I helped cure the lost? What does "Citizenus Cimerorus" know about enhamncements? It seems very suspicious. And immersion-breaking. And LAME. Leave the "information" NPCs the same, (E, F, M and... that other letter, N?), but have the Cimerorans say something about the state of their fort, or how great that senator guys is, or how weird the old woman is. Please? -

I'm really surprised that all the effort was spent on making an entirely new zone, and then putting almost no content into it. One series of "talk to these people" so-called missions, one contact spitting out repeatables, and one TF.
I was disappointed that I exhausted everything outside of the TF in less than an hour. You'd think with how much it was hyped this was the reconstruction of the Parthenon or something, but it turns out to be seriously underwhelming.
[/ QUOTE ]
I seem to recall that not only did Hero 1 say the zone would likely be returned to, but that the idea behind the story is that you're "fixing" what someone did to the timeline. Meaning that you don't want to do much else, lest you change the timeline further.
On another note, I was wondering how we can "call" contacts in the zone. Do they have Roman cell phones? It's not a good or bad thing, just... interesting. And possibly immersion-breaking for some people.

What I've played so far is AWESOME, with a few exceptions.
The mission map content seems a little sparse. I got the exact same map twice in a row in Montague's arc. Even though the new artwork (Cimerora especially) is awesome, having the same stuff twice in a row was what you might call too much of a good thing.
The Midnighters' Club definitely needs door labels blueside. Sure I can remember which door goes where NOW, but what happens when I roll an alt, and don't get in for another month?
I have a magic-origin hero, but I looked at Paragon Wiki to find out what the other things said were in the Origins of Power arc. If what they have is correct, I REALLY hope that idea gets elaborated. Sister Psyche needs to explain psionics more. Tech says basically nothing. And I thought that Manti got a teleportation power, as seen in the comic AND CoV trailer? Not to mention, they make certain assumptions about you and what you know about types powers (Posi and Synapse especially: "not that you'd understand any of that of course"). And why does Synapse have to be such a downer to non science heroes?
And a question: will the club connect to their library, which we see in Madeleine Casey's arc? Or is the club the entirety of the Squad's "base"? -
Nice work! I especially liked the proliferated powerset costumes, and the Iron Man reference was swell.

Contextual dialog
A great example of this is the Sybil you speak with at the beginning of ImperiousÂ’ first mission in Cimerora. She has three different dialog states depending on where you are in the mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope I'm not the only one who got this.
The bit about the invention that could change the landscape of the game. More then a respec, a shivan , a heavy, or a nuke.
Not sure if that's really a good thing but I'll wait untill tuseday to see.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, that's almost... ominous... Wonder if it's a useable peice (like an enhancement) or something that will change the story landscape of the game.
Also, this contextual dialog will be the death of anyone who is compelled to experience all[ the content of the game. Three whole options! And what happens when another person in themissions has three options?? That means playing the mission NINE times to get everything properly! -

On a related note, and I'm sure I'll get flak for this - is it really *that* big of a deal to log yourself back in? I mean, how much longer does it take? 3 seconds? maybe 5?
[/ QUOTE ]
For those of us with crappy computers, it's more like: "3 minutes? Maybe 5? Maybe 3-5 disconnects before you actually load up?" You never know. But I am ok with logging back in, because it isn't actually a big deal...
Um, also... Yay character slots!
