  1. Googlecar - knows everything about everyone it's carrying.

Microsoftcar - zero day exploit allows Russian hackers to command all cars to New Mexico for world's largest demolition derby.

Applecar - insists you have dinner at the new trendy bistro instead of a quick stop at In-N-Out.
  2. My biggest fear that the devs may unintentionally "trick" players to lock out costume bundles by offering a single part from a bundle, since the market won't let you buy a costume bundle (at least it worked that way once) if you already have a piece from that set.

Don't want to see good will turn to ill will by accident or intent.
  3. There was an intriguing article in Massively Wednesday. It contains a lot of conjuncture about the Going Rogue expansion and the motivation for Freedom and I'm curious what other players think about it.

Also I wonder if it's accidental or intentional that the article isn't tagged as a CoH article even though it's their weekly CoH column. Tin foil hats anyone?

  5. I read somewhere that the gem in Loki's staff was the Mind gem.

Regardless I got the impression that Loki's staff was influencing everyone in that room, making everyone angrier and angrier, trying to trigger the Hulk.

(It really pisses me off when they bring back dead characters)
Actually I really liked the 200th episode "Life Before His Eyes" where Gibbs encounters a number of "dead" characters during a near death experience/alternate timelines.
  6. a) Tough to say since to don't indicate what your cost difference is and what you are planning to do beyond gaming. Here are two reviews of the i5-3570K which include a comparison to the i5-2500K (sorry no 2550s). I linked to the game charts; bit-tech.net - XbitLabs.
  7. Well saw it again tonight, at a different theater with a very different audience so I finally got to hear all the bits I didn't make out due to all the laughter during the midnight showing.

Besides the "Puny God" quote, the fact that Loki was mewling on the floor after his beat down was especially ironic.
  8. IIRC that feature relates to backlit keyboard and the ability to set the color. The feature in this game will change the backlight to blue when playing a hero, red for a villain and I think gold for a Praetorian.

Truly an important and often asked for feature that makes this game. [/sarcasm]

Edit: OK, so I was wrong. It's still silly.
  9. As for Loki's use of a relatively unknown to the US bad word/phrase, except to people who 17th century English literature majors or those with English friends, will only be recognized as simply an insult to most Americans due to it's context in Loki's monologue. A simple Google of "Avengers mewling" (I did know the meaning of mewling) shows up in UK reviews as nothing all that shocking, a common profanity with one site suggesting it's been stripped of any misogynist meaning due to it's common use as a jibe against other men.

I would half expect to see it use in a commercial; "you become a mewling <blank> when you're hungry, have a Snickers".

I think it's significant Coulson does not die on screen, we only hear it announced by Fury over the intercom. And he says he is "gone", which could be a euphemism for "dead", but could also be equivocation. And Fury is well established as a ruthless manipulative M-F.
Again, even if he was killed, Coulson wasn't Jossed. Jossing if very specific and it's not just a popular character dieing. It's suddenly dieing right after something good happens. Tara in Buffy Jossed but not Anya. Wash in Serenity Jossed, but not Book. The character is there one moment, SNAP, gone.

Coulson lingered, taunted his "killer" and shot him well after the fatal blow was delivered and even hung on long enough to chat up Fury when he arrived minutes later.

Of course all the scenarios chatted up here would make total sense from LMD to life saving surgery. Also kudos to Caemgen on the "Shield has a great medical plan." as his opening line upon his reappearance, brilliant.
  11. Thundercats - I kind of liking the parallel plot threads they are introducing. Wonder if next week's episode will be more kitten specific. And yes, once they resolved the whole Cheetara - Tygra - Lion-o triangle they had to find Lion-o a "friend".

Green Lantern - stuff happens on Oa, skies turn blue, rings found in every cereal box (still not as many as last week).

Young Justice: Invasion - Well we find out about BBs origin, who dumped who (and maybe why) and Miss Martian goes too far (and I think not the first time).

The Legend of Korra - Young girls have a strange idea about what's romantic. If you couldn't tell early on that Bolin was taking Sokka's job you need to watch the first series again, the characters are written so much alike. I'm wondering if the three time (guessing four time) winners are going to get their powers ripped by the big bad as their "reward". And yes, the kiss. Shippers are happy.
  12. The Hulk ragdolling Loki and Hulk sucker punching Thor were definitely the Looney Tunes moments I was talking about in the other thread.

The Galaga line was funny because it initially sounded like a random Stark snark, until it turned out to be true

I think Gwynneth's "lines", especially in the jeans shorts, were pretty awesome.
She had lines, all I remembered was bare feet and jeans shorts.

Like the first IronMan, I'm going to see this at least three times in the theaters.

    Oh and ...
    "Better clench up, Legolas."
  13. After sleeping on it, two points.

One, Loki has never seen The Incredibles, since he tends to get tripped up while monologging.

Two, the argument could be made that so-and-so wasn't Jossed. Jossed characters don't get to linger, don't get the last word and don't get a last shot in, they simply die. Heroic death yes, Jossed no.

And yes I'm trying to keep this thread fairly spoiler free.

  15. Just came back from the midnight show. Of course crowd of hard core fans. Only real costume I saw was someone dressed as Ralph, the Greatest American Hero. I don't think a lot of the youngsters got it. Again local (to the theater) comic shop handed out free Avenger comic books.

Previews to Frankenweenie, Brave, The Dictator, Prometheus, The Dark Knight Rises.

Everyone gets to team with everyone else in the big battle. I think Joss Whedon watched a lot of Looney Tunes when he was growing up.

Didn't think a reason I would want to see it again was because I missed half the jokes/quips over the crowd's laughter.

Oddly I found myself attracted to women in bare feet and shorts.

The extra scene got a lot of cheers about what I assume to be the next Avengers film.

The post credits scene hilarious. Funnier still watching the hard core fans wait for dialog. And what is shawarma? Anything like a gyro?

Honestly, watch those two movies, especially The Enemy Below and tell me that it doesn't mirror that episode.
  17. Oh yea, street fighting is SO fun. SF/WP Brutes rule.
  18. I could see Cross-Server Teaming way back when there was a fairly active PvP subculture. Previously the test server was the only place where characters from different servers could meet.

    Now, not so much.
  19. It's probably better to check the parts list links than the guide nowadays.

You're thinking Under Siege (sub vs battleship), the original trope is sub Vs destroyer as found in the classic WWII movies Run Silent Run Deep and The Enemy Below.
  21. There were magazine ads for CoH and CoV back when PC game magazines existed, in print.

TV ads are really too expensive even for highly targeted runs (CN, SyFy, G4, Hub, Nick*). I was hoping for a GameStop one when Going Rogue came out but that didn't happen (or I simply didn't see it).

The game has been set decoration in Chuck and Big Bang Theory (even mentioned recently in actual dialog).

Not advertising directly but there was even a Forbes article way back in the early days of the game.
  22. Hats don't have optional doohickeys, helmets do. Nice simple rule.
