  2. As long as it turns out better than the remakes of early Michael Crichton movies that AMC have been doing. Hated their version of Andromeda Strain and Coma doesn't look all that hot.

Oh and Mandu forgot Being Human as one of the SyFy channel hits. Like all shows it will depend on the cast and the writing. Blake 7 always was a gritty space drama and if they embrace that aspect of the original then they may have another Battlestar Galactica on their hands.
  3. It's official - and the link includes a BBCA trailer.

Sorry to hear that, pun not intended.

However you have given us zero information about your system, unless you don't want help solving this problem.

Read this and follow the instructions if you are interested in assistance from fellow players.
  6. Closer to "you're one in 4000". The current worldwide death rate is currently 0.8% or 1 in 125. The US and the UK are higher than that.
  7. One of the points was that Airwolf looked like an everyday commercial helicopter, a wolf in sheep's clothing so to speak. Other than going NOTAR there really hasn't been a lot of advances to the look of commercial helicopters.

I didn't mean to slight old school players who are now premium whose reward token total has nothing to do with buying beaucoup Paragon Points. But it wouldn't be VIP if VIPs didn't get something and an early look at the next issue is analogous to donors getting to see a full dress rehearsal of a Broadway show before it's open to the general public.
  9. I don't know if you could do a reboot. The general concept was particular for the era, a private or secret organization with a piece of highly advance technology that outclasses anything else available in the world. We had Knight Rider, Airwolf, Street Hawk, Thunder in Paradise, The Highwayman, Viper and probably a show or two I can't remember off hand.

The problem is we're now a war weary country and I don't think a show about a covert super attack helicopter that intervenes around the world for US interests would be of interest to the general TV audience. Perhaps if the group controlling it had no loyalty to a particular country but intervenes only for the good of the world (yes then it would be like Gundam 00 but with helicopters). Yes I do remember that every week Archangel had to beg String and Dom to use it for the cause of the week.

The re-image of Knight Rider died a quick death and I don't think any network would risk re-imaging any of those other series, even a network as desperate as NBC.

Sorry, the economy class passenger doesn't get access to the First Class lounge at the airport while waiting for their flight. It's a reward for their achieving a certain level of brand loyalty.

In the case with the beta of Issue 24, it's being a subscriber. At least that's a clearly defined status where earlier beta invites required years of being a subscriber. Here you could subscribe for a month tomorrow and be in the beta immediately (or the next day). Or you could wait until it's officially released and then decide if you want to spend any money on this game.
  11. I've always considered the Skulls and Hellions to be the "rats" found in the fantasy MMO genre. As in "kill 10 rats", or more specifically "kill 10 brown rats/kill 10 black rats". They were just filler street trash that low level heroes with no travel powers could interact with as they jogged between missions (Rule #1 - Cardio).

At some point Hellions got "Girlfriends from Hell" which spiced up the group a bit from just setting you on fire all the time. So Skulls now get a retcon into a Eastern Eurogang death cult. They were due to be made more "interesting".

And they really need to add a Boris and Natasha to the named bosses.

    Still Viable?

Sorry, IO stands for Invention Origin, a crafted enhancement versus the ones that critters would drop or would be available in the various ingame stores. "Normal" enhancements simply modify aspects of the power they are slotted in, things like reducing endurance used, improving damage or accuracy. Invention Origin enhancements can also grant global modification to all powers besides the normal modification it would do to the power it's slotted in.

Nowadays most published builds are designed around using IOs and their global bonuses to cap various aspects or fill gaps such as granting a lot of defense to an Archetype like Blaster which normally has little or no defense.

IOs came out in Issue 9 so published builds before that won't have them. You should also know that some posted builds are designed for a respec Level 50 character, a respec is when you can rechoose the order of powers taken and the number of slots you assigned to each power, and they may not illustrate a character that naturally levels. You end up with builds that have it's "travel power" picked at Level 49 for instance.

For more about enhancements, ParagonWiki: Enhancements.

Edit: The problem with pre-Issue 9 builds, even pre-Issue 19 and 21 builds is that there has been major changes in power pool sets in Issue 19 and 21. In Issue 19 the Fitness Power Pool is now inherent at Level 2 for every new character. Doesn't count as a power pool choice either (you can have up to four power pools and one "epic" power pool). In Issue 21 they adjusted the other pool powers to unlock at Level 4 instead of six and in the case of the so called Travel power pools (Flight, Leaping, Speed, Teleportation) the primary travel power available at Level 4 instead of requiring a prerequisite power selection and unlocks at Level 14. Also a 5th power were added to those sets (the remaining power pools will have a 5th power added in Issue 24). These changes seriously affect when and what to take in the first 20 levels of a build. Also the so called "epic" power pools now unlock at Level 35 and not Level 41 (also an Issue 21 change) which affects the later part of the build.

So problem is old builds don't take into the account of the changes to pool powers but newer builds have a tendency to be populated with IOs instead of Single Origin enhancements (SOs) which doesn't help a player without IO access.

You can either subscribe for one month or buy $5 worth of Paragon Points, either will grant you another Paragon Rewards Token which would unlock Tier 2 and those additional chat channels. Every 1200 Paragon Points purchased, including bonus ones from bulk purchases, will give you another Reward Token but buying any amount ($5 is the minimum) for the very first time will give you one token.

As a non-subscriber, I would only look at non IO builds unless you have IO/Auction House unlocked or bought the monthly licenses. I would imagine otherwise they will be loaded down with IOs, relying on set bonuses that you wouldn't have access to.

Don't know it they treat the BE the same as a box code therefore unlocking Tier 2. Sorry.

While VIP you will get all this, once you drop back down to F2P/Premium it's all about what Paragon Reward Tiers you have filled. Items like 12 slots per server for free and Praetoria access (unless you applied a Going Rogue box code to your account) is only a VIP benefit.
  17. You made me look it up.

Top Cow run, Issue 4, 5 and 6.

    Edit: Dang, beaten by DS.

The "Bootleg Edition" was originally a con giveaway that later showed up in stores for $0.99 or $1.00, it was just the disk(s) in a sleeve with only a 14 day subscription.

Their big sellers are Aion, and L1 and L2. And I'm also concerned that right now, NCSoft isn't turning a profit at all, unless I read those graphs wrong. (Something about a bunch of one-off fees and severance payments gutting their raw profit)

Doesn't tell me much about CoH itself =/
If you read the notations that in that presentation you would understand why they lost money that quarter, or as they put it "Be in the red".

One time increase in labor costs due to severance pay (35% Year over Year, comparing 2nd quarters)
Increased royalty expense due to the purchase of developer Ntreev (215% YoY)
Increased box costs due to Aion launching in Japan (32% YoY)
Increased marketing costs due to launch of Blade and Soul in Korea (72% YoY)
Depreciation & Amortization costs related to buying Ntreev (73% YoY)

Ntreev was a casual game company NCSoft bought in mid February this year.

Most of these are meant to be single quarter expenses, except for the royalty expense.

Like I stated earlier, if you go with the premise that 95% or more of CoH income comes from NA and Europe regions, CoH would represents 44% of those regions revenue 2nd quarter. NA and Europe only represents only 5% of NCSoft's revenue by region. It may be a small market but we are a big chunk of it in the 2nd quarter.
  21. My post was an example of "stream of thought" posting. The $40 was in reference to buying parts and by the time I got to the end I realized you were having it built by a 3rd party boutique shop.
  22. Well emo hair Skull can be the Vega of the group (yes I'm referencing Street Fighter).
