  1. Glad I didn't push the Sandy Bridge rig out to replace my P55 one. Now I really have to find a replacement 1156 MB for my high price rig now that the MSI P55 MB is gone for good.

This is a double problem with motherboard manufacturers because it looks as if they stopped manufacturing P55 motherboards to get a jump on the P67 ones so they don't have any stock of the old stuff, in the popular configurations, to ship. Intel's going to be compensating a lot of OEM manufacturers 1st quarter income.
  2. As the old software developer saying goes; Software isn't released, it escapes.

Sounds like something was pushed to only one of the update servers and pulled. Wasn't this around the time the last patch got out a day early as well?

  5. No.

The drawback of using hurdle to move is you look stupid skipping (since you don't jump that high with hurdle).

At least combined with combat jumping it looks like a cheap knockoff of super jump with the added height as well as the direction control.
  6. Just read the fine print, sometimes shorter bar is better, sometimes longer. Depends on the benchmark test they are using.

Another source of multiple tests across a huge number of CPUs. Results in the charts are sorted within each CPU/Socket family normally (each family is color coded) and sorted from best to worse regardless of family when you hover your mouse over the chart. Being two months old it doesn't have the Sandy Bridge Core i3/5/7-2xxx series.
  7. The synopses of the movie on Wikipedia sounds like a cross between I, Robot, The Terminator and Demon Seed, with a touch of Agent Smith cluster fight.

I'm glad they bullet proof car gas tanks in India.

I really enjoy it when someone takes a trope and turn the knob to 11.
  8. I was a sucker in the late 80s for alternate covers during the great comic book investment boom. I gave up buying comics in the early 90s.
  9. AnandTech Bench - Phenom 9650 (L3 fix) Vs i3-540

    Game benchmarks are last.
  10. Two that I can recommend is Defraggler and Auslogics Disk Defrag. Both can defrag a single file, folder or single drive. Auslogics is the faster of the two. Both are free.

    Startup Problems

Did you try one setting at a time after you start with the "safe mode" settings to find which one is causing the hang?
  12. It's nice watching them form a team. I also dig Miss M's ship.

However I am getting tired of her crush on SB and Kid's crush on her. And when is the female replacement archer going to show up? Show needs another girl, it's reminding me too much of my old college days.

Anyone use shouted "Yo Joe!" at the beginning of the episode when everyone was chanting "Cobra"? (yes I know it's Kobra)
  13. Yea, SSDs are $2-3 a GB. Normal 7200RPM hard drive with a large capacity and 32 or 64MB of cache, under 10 cents a GB.

I think I still have my first 20MB hard drive somewhere in a closet. I also remember when $1 a MB for a hard drive was a bargain.

    I feel old.

    GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
  14. But now we have Robot Chicken for that.
  15. The only time I noticed particle count making a difference was on Striga. If you look toward the volcano when you first enter the zone, you can see it smoking if your particle count is up. Crank the count down and the smoke disappears.
  16. Well sounds like you know what to buy then. Have fun with the upgrade.
  17. I was just pointing out options and pitfalls.

Wouldn't want you to buy a motherboard thinking it could take a 2nd video card and have it help significantly or think you could use two nVidia cards.

As for 2GB video cards over 1GB, it really matters now only at very high resolutions and multi-monitor setups. AMD just released the HD 6950 1GB card to counter the GTX 560 Ti at the $250-260 price point. The standard HD 6950 is 2GB and you can check the reviews at AnandTech or Hardware Canucks and see how little difference the extra 1GB makes.
  18. I like Hell Girl too. Odd twist on the Magical Girl formula.
  19. Sort of the same problem I had with V. Cast is too small to have a major member not directly confront the major badguy while still trying to hide from them. It's too easy for the writers to script these confrontations without thinking things through, same with Vince not keeping his mask on or hood up.

While Batman may reveal his identity to his love interest in every movie, a guy who is trying to protect his family by hiding his identity from the bad guy, a bad guy who already knows him, a bad guy whose right hand man was Vince's friend, should be doing everything in his power NOT to confront them directly.

Same is true with Orwell. She should know that she's way up on Flemming's too kill list, even if it does turn out to be her father, she shouldn't expect that to save her. But having the good guys NOT confront the bad guys directly simply wouldn't be "good TV".
  20. Yes, yes I know, blockbusters have been nominated and win. But look at best and supporting actor and actress nominees and tell me how many of those films had a wide release (<2000 theaters) or broke $100 million domestically?

Yes this isn't a popularity contest, it's about good movies and good acting but I would hazard a guess that the majority of the films with best and supporting actor/actress nods only popped up in art theaters and the only one near me (within 25 miles) closed last year. Edit: Or were only released mid December in limited release to qualify. Rabbit Hole?

All I'm saying is there is going to be a lot of the general population who never even heard of most of those films, except being mentioned winning awards.
  21. Let me correct Infernus before the forum logs me off for a third time mid post. That motherboard does support two video cards at x16, the third x16 slot is really only an x4 or x1.

It does have USB 3.0 but only on an internal connector. Not sure if it has a bracket with them or not.

    2) I am not over clocking it for starters, the processer uses 1333 memory, the Vengance is a 1667 stick, yes the Mother board can handle it but I matched the Memory to the processer recomodation. For now this will exceed my needs greatly later I may ove clock it but i need a new thermal for the processers and in that case I can upgrade the memory then.
    1) Just degraded Crossfire. There isn't any SLi support at all. But a single card of either major brand is fine. And it's not that it runs both boards at x4, one runs at x16, the other at x4 so the 2nd card isn't as helpful.

    2) The i7-2600K is the overclock variant of the i7-2600 but with an unlocked CPU frequency multiplier (makes OC easy), but costing only a few dollars more than the standard i7-2600. The CPU can handle faster memory, as long as you are using a motherboard with a P67, up to DDR3-2133 (and -1866/-1600/-1333/-1066 or PC3-17066/-14933/-12800/-10666/-8533, PC3 numbers may be rounded to nearest 100 or 10). As long as the memory voltage is 1.5V then you can use it. It'll buy you a few percent in actual real world performance.
  23. I keep my rig lists up to date. Problem right now is the migration from Socket 1156 to 1155 has left many of my preferred 1156 motherboards out of stock. I am researching a suitable replacement.

I haven't altered my $1375 rig to a Socket 1155 due to the "newness" of all the motherboards. I would prefer to give them a couple more months to work out their various quirks before upgrading my high end parts list, but I have a feeling that Intel would prefer to move everyone over to the i3/5/7-2xxx cpus as soon as possible.

But if you want to give it a try the i5-2500K is a more than reasonable i5-760 alternative. As for MB I am still undecided between the Asus P8P67 Pro, Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4, MSI P67A-GD65 and the ASRock P67 Extreme4.

    Very strange!

Bugs is running around with a giant eraser.

    What a stinker.
