How's the drop rate?
[/ QUOTE ]
Zero
Well, we played 5 matches, total of 30 kills between us or so, and no drops other than insps.
With a 1% drop-rate, that's to be expected though.

[ QUOTE ]
One big problem there Fahie is that you took DR off. That would've given you almost capped resistance to all and seeing as forts are mostly def based the fort had the disadvantage from the start.
But yes, the elusivity change has affected PvP by a lot again. Defence is almost back to how it was in i12.
[/ QUOTE ]
I imagined DR was having a big effect.
But I couldn't account for it having *that* big effect :P
Fahie -
I know that they have technically had a slight nerf.
However, i had a quick duel on wednesday night in the arena against my friends purpled fort with my purpled ill/rad.
Post I13 we did the same and the result was 10-0 to the fort.
This time however ( DR and TS off ) the result was 10-0 to me.
A couple of points;
After respawn I could still drop EF and RI on the fort and they would start working as soon as "untouchable" dropped off.
I had forgotten to stock up on insps. Once the fort ran out it was quickly game-over
Is this just a fort nerf, or have elusivity changes really affected pvp that much ?
Has anyone else encountered any oddities with I14?
We had several other duels with AT's that I can post the results of if people are interested ( we were trying for a pvp drop ).
Fahie -
Is it just me, or is a 10 minute cooldown actually going to have little effect with a 1% drop-rate
eg, you're unlikely to get 100 kills in 10 minutes anyways so it won't affect the drop rate too much.
Fahie -
Defender certainly could.
Blaster trickier, trying to think of a build that would work without insps.
Possibly elec/nrg/nrg
So for defence/resist tough, weave, temp invuln, CJ, FoN
powerboosted SC's for end-drain then go for fast damage.
May try it as my elec/nrg is just about to hit epics. Don't fancy my chances too much though

Of my ill/rad, fire/rad and fire/kin I can say without a doubt my fire/kins the fastest. Granted that both rads (especially the ill) are somewhat safer there's no denying the /kins a lot faster.
[/ QUOTE ]
Against a single target ?
I'll agree that fire/kin is a LOT quicker for normal maps ( hell, we used fire/kins for our record 50 run) but against a single AV I would have said /rad. You get the debuffs and -regen in, and FS has negligable bonus when you only have one target.
What am I missing ?
Fahie -
[ QUOTE ]
No.
Fire/Rad is capable to reach around at least 250 dps. I would like to see a kin get anyway near that number without a shivan.
Rad also grants more survivability than kin.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would have to agree.
/rad is more survivable and given that this is single target, you aren't going to get rolling FS's at 300%
Fahie -
[ QUOTE ]
As for actual time, that's an abstract number - you can get unlucky and get one/two shotted by a lot of AV's pretty easily.
[/ QUOTE ]
Absolutely. However, I'm looking for a *rough* idea here, let's ignore the 25th percentile
Fahie -
A random thought occuring to me this evening.
What would people consider to be the fastest AV soloing toon?
i.e. if someone lined all the AV's up in a row ( excluding Rommy for arguments sake ), what could plough through them the quickest ? GW comes last in the line.
Quantifiers :
No temp powers or vet powers.
As much IO sets as you like.
No insps other than what you start with.
Assuming lvl 50 for the toon and the AV's.
No other mobs, and no aggro from the next AV till you defeat the previous.
OK, so it's a fairly pointless questions as far as real-in-game experiences go, but I'm just interested wrt the speed of such an endeavour.
For example, fully aware ill/rad troller is a great soloing build, but it's hardly quick.

The game is balanced around one player being able to change three lightbulbs at once.
[/ QUOTE ]
And the lightbulb changing was not made harder by the introduction of inventions.
Fahie -
And
q : How many devs does it take to change a lightbulb ?
a : Only one, but it will be changed in a series of releases over a period of a year or two to "ensure that the lightbulb change appeals to the most amount of players", even though the amount of light generated by the previous lightbulb was deemed "fine" by the playerbase in general.
Sorry, could resist an I13 PVP pop in the end

Love it .. and so true
Fahie -
How many CoX players does it take to change ... A lightbulb ?
Cue another one of those threads you will either love or hate.
My answer is :
52!
9 to argue over what difficulty setting the lightbulb changing should be set on
4 to say that they need a full team in order to get more XP from changing the lightbulb
7 to complain that lightbulb changing was much easier pre-ED
2 to rush the lightbulb and faceplant
7 to ask if they can farm the lightbulb changing mission
9 to say that they allready have the lightbulb changing badge, so aren't interested in changing it again.
2 to offer to "ghost" the lightbulb changing
3 to moan that the illusion troller is confusing the lightbulb, thus "robbing" the team of XP
5 to brag that they can solo the lightbulb mission with their alt on Invincible
3 to go afk just before the lightbulb is changed, yet mysteriously re-appear post-changing
and finally ... 1 to click on the lightbulb glowy, and get yelled at by the farmers.
Any other suggestions ?

and felt more like a brawl rather than a slugging match.
[/ QUOTE ]
PvP isn't supposted to be either. It should be a fight, not a brawl. The dictionary says a brawl is a "a noisy quarrel or a squabble". Surely PvP isn't supposted to be like that?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think of a brawl as more a moving fight, rather than just going toe to toe with very little movement.
[/ QUOTE ]
A brawl always indicated to me an "unstructured fight where tactics are forgotten and you just lay into each other as much as you can"
ie .. I13 pvp

Thanks for the posts there Maelwys, some good information.
To clarify one point from my understanding, the 330dps from DM/Shield requires 7 additional mobs in range of SD, which obviously isn't going to happen for most of a battle with GM's in my experience.
However, wasn't aware that theoretical DPS of scrappers could get that high, so nice to know
Impressed with a 10 minute drop of Jack and pumpkinhead with that duo. Good work
Fahie -
Random late-night post here;
What music do you find yourself playing when on CoX that REALLY works ?
A couple for me.
ITF : Has to be the gladiator soundtrack. Just feels utterly right, especially if you run into rommy at the right point
Anything in a run-down city block : The Ghost in the shell soundtrack for me here. Just fits the bill completely
Obviously I have random moments of other tracks working well with the game, but those are two albums that I now make a point of playing every now and then.
Fahie -
[ QUOTE ]
DM/Shield Scrappers can hit the Defence soft cap and output over 300DPS against a single target.
It takes a little over 100DPS to beat the regeneration rate of an AV, and over 350DPS for a GM.
[/ QUOTE ]
That seems wrong to me, else anyone could easily duo any GM with a granite plus blaster.
Actually, I don't think it can be true. Testing the time taken to solo Jack with my ill/rad a while back, I duo-ed him first with a leccy blaster in tow. It still took a while even with full debuffs ( LR thus nerfing his regen ). Took far longer without :P
You taking into account heals there ?
On your basis you could duo any GM ( other than lusca ) with your DM/shield plus any random support toon?
As always, happy to be proven wrong, as long as it's proven

All of the AVs are just major HP bags with varying abilities to put you down. In this game AVs very rarely need any planning whatsoever, only exception I can think of being Ghost Widow (immob + ranged taunt trick).
[/ QUOTE ]
GW and Romulous are the two most difficult I would say.
GW scares me more for some reason, although I think that Rommy is harder.
Fahie -
It would be handy to have an indication as to whether or not a character can level up on the login screen.
2 reasons :
a) With levelling pacts you sometimes have a toon that is due to be levelled and you aren't aware until you log in
b) This would prevent the "I have a lvl 8 toon, I'll come join you .... oh wait, no .. they're level 10"
Fahie -
Me standing up for Chilli in SC, pointing out to all the moaners that Chilli's not breaking any rules, and that PVP zones are just that and that they should quit complaining because they just got AS'd whilst farming when I get ....... AS'd by Chilli mid-type.
A few other fond comical memories, but mostly at the expense of other people so I shan't share them

[ QUOTE ]
you know people have been soloing GMs on Ill/Rad long before there were IOs in the game right? Perma PA is not required, I bet it would take down the time it takes mine to do it sure, but its not required
[/ QUOTE ]
Post-ED, I didn't think they could. Could be mistaken though, it's happened occasionally
However, the point stands, even if an ill/rad can solo GM's with SO's, *I'm* not a good enough player to be able to do it. IO's mean that I have something achievable to strive for that is beyond the norm of "complete X mission"
Not that there is anything wrong with that of course :S

Given the difficulty in finding a reasonable challenge as it stands... does ubering out with Purples actually increase your enjoyment of the game? Do you want it even easier???
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes and no.
Purpling out a blaster seems irrelevant to me. Sure, it's better but it's not more fun.
However, purpling out the ill/rad (to get perma PA for example) means that I now have the challenge of soloing GM's.
I couldn't do that with SO's, so yes, purples and uber rares ( eg Lotg ) increase my enjoyment of creating a character and increase my enjoyment of playing it.

[ QUOTE ]
Its not as if inf buys you any significant advantage in PvP any more.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a valid point and why I don't farm any more. I used to, just to purple out my pvp toons.
I still PL some characters to 22, just because I've done the early arcs sooooo many times I can't be bothered to clear trolls out of the hollows any more :P
