  1. Poor Positron.

I have a vision of him tied to a torture rack and being pulled apart by the playerbase on one end and Champions Online on the other, while giving this interview with a manufactured smile. Every time the said smile slips a cloaked figure steps out of the shadows with a hot poker and menacingly reminds: "Smile."

After all the "This cannot be done. Ever. Stop asking. No, really, stop asking. In order to do this, we would have to change fundamental laws of physics and possibly end the world and remake it in a new image" posts... After all that, it really has GOT to hurt to say: we could do it all along, we just thought it was too damn much work.

And the only reason we're doing it now is 1) because you bastards kept asking and 2) because Champions Online is just over the horizon.
  2. Post-Kheldian retooling, I've been wondering if I could avoid using Nova form entirely.

Mind you, I like the squiddy thingy of doom, but it takes too damn long to flip into it sometimes. Dwarf Mire -> Human -> Mire -> Nova results in the dwarf mire being gone by the time I'm done flipping, and exposes me to a lot of incoming hostility.

I'm wondering if Dwarf Mire -> Human -> Mire -> Blasting might be a tad more efficient. What does Nova have that the Post-I13 humans don't? (Besides flight of course).
  3. The first screenshot is amazing, except for the hideous purple character in the foreground.

    It is what it is.

    Sapphic Shock

    Shockingly lesbian?..
  5. Teaming is srs bizniss.

    So is Natural Charisma(tm).
  6. And sometimes, none of the above works.

You can ask on all channels until blue in the face and nobody answers, whether you are starting a team or looking to join one. It can very well be that people in the particular level range you're looking for are mostly farming AE.

I tried starting AE teams - that's never a problem. You get twenty tells in five seconds.

Regular teams, though... it's painful to the extreme. It's the worst when you get one other poor schmuck who, like yourself, believes in doing content and then... NOTHING. And the two of you stand there looking at each other like it's a date gone bad.
  7. With all due respect to Nethergoat:

    Farmers farm in AE.

AE = no purples or salvage.

No purples or salvage = dwindling supply thereof.

    Dwindling supply = higher prices.

    Oh yeah, and

Cheaper influence (you KNOW someone's buying) = looser purse strings.

Looser purse strings = encouragement of higher prices (an AE baby who got to 50 in 2 days and then bought a billion for 30 bucks has no qualms about dropping 100M on something he wants).

1 billion inf is cheap these days, but it don't buy as much as it used to. I looked at purple market the other day and let's just say I'm real happy that my Ill/Rad is fully tooled. It would take a LOT longer to tool him out now.

Problem is, I now have a warshade, and he needs toolin' too...
  8. I (rather counter-intuitively) 5-slotted my PA with:

    Soulbound Allegiance A/R
    Soulbound Allegiance A/D/R
    Soulbound Allegiance D/R
Soulbound Allegiance Chance for Build Up
    HamiO: A/D (Nucleous Exposure)

That's 90% Accuracy, Damage and Recharge, plus the proc.

    In Phantasm, I put:

    Expedient Reinforcement A/R
    Expedient Reinforcement A/D
    Expedient Reinforcement A/D/R
    Expedient Reinforcement E/D/R
    HamiO: A/D (Nucleous Exposure)

That's 95% Accuracy and Damage and the +6.25 recharge global.

I always feel slot-poor and loathe to six-slot a power unless I REALLY MUST.

    Speed or Jump?

Crabs look mighty stupid using Fly, so Fly is right out.

As far as I can remember the redside, Superspeed navigation is downright annoying.

My vote is Superjump (some spiders jump, right?) and a jetpack for the emergencies.
  10. I thought this game was gone to the Americans.

Now it appears that it's going to the Europeans.

Does this mean that we'll see a reduction in violence and an uptick in sexual content on TV?
  11. No, the best thing CO (shall we call a spade a spade?) did for CoX is prompt the developers to get off their azzes and start delivering things that are... ok, not exactly groundbreaking, but long asked for.

There were threads with eloquent explanations why body type changes and power customizations were impossible or at least not viable. We have body type changes NOW, and Power Spectrum is coming soon(tm).

And (I want to believe) that as CO flaunts their new shiny zones, missions and features, CoX team will have no choice but match them blow for blow. I love CoX, but it is OLD. It needs a lot of modernization to keep up, and what better incentive than a young, good-looking, upstart competitor?

Really, I wish CO the best. I hope they turn out the greatest content ever seen in a superhero game. Because NCSOFT will have to match it and beat it.

We have Positron & Co., who have proven that given the right incentive, they can accomplish A LOT.

They have Jack Emmert and his ED.

    I'm betting on us.

"Nothing ever gets done in peace". So, here's to war.
  12. So even this is old news, I have to give props to the dev team for breaking the mold of traditional MMO mentality in regards to "new difficulty settings in I16".

Frankly I don't think I've ever seen an approach like this in all MMOs I have played. Let's imagine a "standard" MMO, called, say Village of Awesomecraft(tm)...

    ---------------------------------------------

Mr. Moptastic, L535 Janitor:Hey guys! I just soloed Krod Mandoon the overboss! The one intended for the group of 25! Proof!

An Al-ytic, L530 Janitor: Hey, it IS possible! Especially if you use the Lightning Mop technique while wearing the Overalls of Holy Scrubbing! I soloed Dirk Diggler the overboss using this trick, and got his [DIRK] as a trophy! Woot, new weapon!

Choppy McPorkins, L540 Butcher: HAX! No way a Janitor should be able to tank either Krod or Dirk! Everyone knows that Janitors are a support class! Butchers are a tank class! IMBA!!!!

G'oat-Boi, L535 Swineherd: That's BS! Swineherds are the DPS class! R u tellin me that a Janitor out-tanked a Butcher and out-DPSed a Swineherd? IM CANCELLIN MY SUB UNTIL THIS IS FIXT!!

Playerbase: Janitors are FOTM and OP!

Hand of God, Developer: Patch notes 07/28/09: Janitors can no longer use the Lightning Mop technique while wearing the Overalls of Holy Scrubbing. Janitor DPS lowered. Swineherd DPS raised.

    Mr. Moptastic, L535 Janitor: NOOOOOOO!!!

An Al-ytic, L530 Janitor: Screw this, I'm rolling a Swineherd.

Playerbase: Swineherds are FOTM and OP!

    ---------------------------------------------

You get the point... every MMO I played before CoX inevitably got caught in the nerf-adjust-fix-nerf-adjust-fix cycle. It's pretty damn refreshing to see the devs throwing a possibility of bigger challenge to the "top of the line" characters instead of taking away and diminishing powers.
  13. If you monitor the Pet Healing Received on Phantom Army, you will see:

"Decoy: your attack accuracy and damage have been increased"

It does work on PA. Tal_N was the first one to establish that, I believe.
  14. Extor_Prime

    Bind Issue

    So I made this bind:

bind numpadenter "target_custom_near defeated$$powexec_name "unchain essence""

And it doesn't work. In fact, it landed me in a hospital twice now. For some reason no matter how much I mash the enter key, the nearby corpse is only intermittently targeted and/or the power doesn't go off.

    What's the problem?
  15. Deceive is such great fun.

Rikti Guardians: me buff you long time.

Rikti Comm Officers: they get beat up by the guys they summon.

Shield Drones and such: bugagaga, free extra defense.

Annoying mastermind-type custom enemies in AE: let's see how long you last against your own minions.

And, as a bonus, I love to set up battles royale between random street spawns.

Without Deceive, my main wouldn't be half as fun.
  16. Nope, don't have any. If I'm not too immersed in warshadery next weekend, maybe I'll kill a DE monster and take a picture.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Damage is the last stand, the hardest hurdle to overcome that makes some AVs/GMs simply not killable. As always I like to be proven wrong, show me an ill/rad who has killed Diabolique or a DE Monster with no temps/insps (just to mention a couple)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've killed both Diabolique and a number of DE monsters, no temps or insps.

In case of monsters, it took for bloody ever. But it is very doable, as long as you don't mind spending 30 minutes to an hour staring at the same thing ad nauseum.

I also soloed Babbage, Kraken, Jurassik, Eochai, and Jack in Irons. I put a decent dent into Lusca before I realized that my mouse will die sooner than that thing, and gave up.

An "average" AV takes me all of 5-10 minutes at most. My latest kill was Requiem.

Why is /Cold regarded as such an awesome secondary?
  18. Extor_Prime

    Halfway there...

Yeah, I looked at the prices of purples and felt a part of my soul die.

100M per recipe, ouch. Inflation: it ain't pretty.

Hope the new difficulty settings will get people out of the AE and improve the purple supply.
  19. So all of a sudden I'm in a supergroup, and also on VU2009, and on Virtue LFG Alpha, and...

Anyway, my chat tabs are a complete clusterbuck. And no matter how I try to arrange and organize the channels, it always ends up sucking and hurting my brain.

So please, share your chat tab configurations. I need inspiration, or something.
  20. Methinks the author of the original article just wants a tankmage character.

MMOs don't have class roles because class roles are cool. Class roles force people to team. That's all there is to it.

If the role of tank is eliminated and instead mitigation capabilities are bestowed upon healers and DPSers, the game degenerates into tank-magery, people stop teaming, multiplayer aspect erodes and the game loses subscribers.

In general, making a tank-mage SHOULD be possible, but it should be extremely difficult (a CoX example would be a purpled-out Ill/Rad or a Tankermind - you can be a god, but it takes forever to get enough scratch to buy all those shiny enhancements). Or, a tankermind should be such an unattractive concept that only obsessed powerplayers would go for it - you get cruddy-looking gear, or your powers are visually lame. This way, tank-mages are few and far in between, and serve as a great "carrot" to dangle in front of casual players' noses.
  21. Damn! I am very tempted to make a void costume now.
  22. Extor_Prime

    Halfway there...

This morning my main, Extor Prime, reached the half-billion influence milestone.

This is the first time I had this much on hand at the same time. My two builds are worth over a billion, but I never had 500M "liquid" Inf and literally nothing to spend it on.

You may laugh of course - I'm progressing at a snail's pace. My goal is to reach 1B and retire my main from the market. Of course, my up-and-coming Warshade will need a lot of scratch to get tooled up, but I hope he can make his own "sins and fortunes" in the market rather than getting supplied by the main.

I'm still doing simple buy-and-craft game. It's slow, but steady income that doesn't require anything but a once-a-day logon to refresh slots.

Say, how's purple crafting these days?
  23. What BigDaddyDream and JJDrakken said.

Screw Tw@er, Facepuke and every other form of social networking. MySpace is already choking, Facepuke and its fresh-faced CEO will be next, and hopefully Twitter not so far behind. A company cannot forever operate on social vapor and never rise from the red into the black.

GIT OFFA MAH LAWN! *double-barrel shotgun blast*
