  1. Sure it does. RvR in DaoC. It's acceptable "endgame" where you fight for control of several Keeps and get bonuses for holding them. Also there's a website that tracks your stats per sever (www.camelotherald.com)

the reward for getting to 50 is that you get to start a new guy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Wow what an amazing reward!!

Sorry Hulk, you're at max level, please reroll and take up a new power.

    What?

You heard me! There's no point in you turning green and big anymore, there's NOTHING left for you to do in this HUGE city.

    *grumble*

That excuse is just to cover up their poor design.

To try to lay this thread to rest (again), here's what can be currently said.

    1. CoH is not required to play CoV. You can buy CoH and play it, buy CoV and play it, or have both.

    2. Pricing is something NCSoft will announce. They have not made any announcement yet. Please rest assured, they are very aware of your opinions and concerns.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You realize he just said "Yeah, we know you won't like it, but we're still considering charging you 30 bucks a month to play both. Will we be doing this? We'll tell you when we feel like it."

How about we change the upcoming release to "City of profiteers"? Maybe City of Capitalists? Perhaps, City of Debt, because that's precisely what's going to happen. You won't need to read the forums in order to find out they expect you to shell out 100 bucks to play the both of them, and then an additional 30 bucks per month for it. People are going to drift away.

Already people reach 50 a lot faster because there's simply no diversion to the grind. Seriously, there's absolutely nothing else to do. So they reach 50...and they make an alt, and then another alt, and another, and another until they just leave.

City of Villians would keep those people around wtihout expecting them to shell out an additional 15 bucks.

I'd like to see some heroism from the NCSoft Crew, all I see from them is people reaching for my wallet.
  4. My techno FF/Rad has been unbelievably fortunate in this respect...almost as though the devs pictured my character and said THAT is what she would look like.

Fitness: The only one I have to roleplay... her grief has driven her to seek physical perfection in her persuit of criminals.

Leadership: her headset, which she uses to link telepathicly to other players and her foes, which gives her insight into the battles, both offensively and defensively.

Medicine: Her utility belt stores the various technological wonders she uses to assist herself and others.

    Leaping: Her oversized Antigrav boots.

Forcefield: Her chestjewel and her wristbands...her chestjewel creates the force energy by way of collecting the resonating energy of the blue diamond stored within... and her wristbands act as a conduit, allowing her to project that energy.

Radiation: her cybernetic arm acts as an arm cannon.

Oddly enough.... these all fit together WITH the animations..her antigravity voots have a gravity distortion field... her neutrino bolt/sniper blast comes out of the correct arm, and the force fields all come out of the wristband arm as well.

On top of this, she uses the correct arm with the medicine line as well. It's great, I love it. =)

That said, making a post to do nothing more than point out said errors IS bad form, unless it is so bad that the post is unreadable.

  8. Hmm. As I said earlier, I'm pretty sure I know in general what is about to happen (though not the specifics of it), and the clues are actually not that hard to put together once you have them. In fact, I'd say that quite a few forumgoers already posess all the knowledge they need to figure this one out. I'll just say that the two most important clues are both related to out-of-game information, and one of those clues has nothing directly to do with City of Heros at all (i.e. they are setting up an in-game event for out-of-game reasons).

I won't say more than that, because I'm uninterested in spoiling what I think will happen for those who don't already see it - that'd ruin the fun
  9. I've purchased the game for 2 people...

I've coaxed others into buying it.

I did so because I was truly excited about the game. I was thrilled with it.

I'm not so thrilled. In fact, I'm more disillusioned.

I'm sticking with the game, but i'm slowly beginning to resent it. A lot of people do that with mmorpgs... consider all the furious posts and hatred directed at eq. People resent mmorpgs when they feel that mmorpg has caused them grief.

They keep at it, because they're hooked, they've already put x amount of hours into it, so they'll put x amount more. But, they hate it.

That person, though they'll keep putting money into the account of ncsoft, or SOE, or whatever, won't go any direction towards bringing in new players... in fact, they may warn against such things. I've met EQ players like that. Who say "It's a terrible game, don't play it." And then go home and play it themselves.

That's the direction I feel CoH is heade.d..what started off as a marvelous game is slowly being butchered...

incompetant updates, nerfing blaster defense (by upgrading monster offense beyond what many blasters can handle), and their recent policy of "we're not going to tell you jack"...

yeah, I'll play. I'm not going anywhere... but when the discussion comes up, I'll make a point to tell people about just how crappy this game is, or is at least becomming.

I'm afraid that revealing what I know would put my tireless ninja spies at risk. I owe them too much to do that to them.

  13. Influence could be traded by heroes and villians.

Influence = a persons ability to get what they want simply because they are such and such.

When you give influence to someone, hero or villian, you are saying you would use that amount of your sway to get them what they want.

    Hero to hero?

Spiderman asks the fantastic four for a device to attack carnage...expending influence in the process.

    villian to hero..

Venom asks spiderman to get the device from the fantastic four.

So, Spiderman uses his influence to help a villian.

Conversely, a Villian could help a hero.... using their influence in the criminal underground to find out information, or provide whatever.
  14. In the first few weeks of the game, I had a 90 minute timed mission in the middle of the forests of Perez Park when I was about level 11 or 12. It took me 45 minutes to get to the door (between becoming utterly lost and running away from level 15 bosses a lot). And I guarantee you that, at that level, it is easier to get to the far side of the Hollows than it is to go through PP's forest maze

Timed low-level missions in hazard zones may not be any fun, but they've always been there. Issue #2 has not changed this.
  15. [ QUOTE ]

And that's not what I am talking about. That just shows the list of things that are currently in the Training Room. It does not address the design approach of Issue #2 and what is considered a design error to be corrected versus what is a purposeful change to the game. People are wanting to /bug useful changes as well as real bugs.

In your zeal to flame you missed the point entirely. You score no epeen points.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I was making no attempt to flame. If you look at what is in the list of items for test, compared to how things are on live, it should be fairly obvious exactly what they decided were bad design changes and are in the process of fixing.

You did a good job of flaming yourself, though.

    Statesman sez:
This was a serious error in design. We've already toned them down once - and we're going to be equipping them with weapons similar to those used by Hellions and Skulls at that level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Does that mean that you will be removing the chain stun/hold/knockback capabilities from these minions?

Instead of spreading piecemeal answers about this problem from post to post, Cryptic might want to make a comprehensive statement outlining all the problems you identified with Issue # 2 and the plans you have made (or implemented) to rectify the situation. Then everyone could refer to that one comprehensive statement instead of asking the same questions over and over again... Think of it as an Issue #2 resolution FAQ.

  17. Treasure Island... Council of War.... Fallen Isles (where City of Villians takes place)..

Ergo, I think this is where the Paragon citizens discover the Fallen Isles...remember, this will be introduced very shortly before City of Villians.
  18. Hmmm... correct by accident? Interesting... concerning how Superman's powers were granted by his father (in a manner of speaking)

Still... I consider it a science origin because otherwise, the Hulk would be of natural origin.

Explaination: Bruce Banner was struck by Gamma rays releasing the natural human potential found within the hulk.

Unlike, say, spiderman, whose genes were mixed with that of a spider due to his scientific accident, the hulk has merely accomplished the pinnacle of human power, unlocked only by sheer accident.

Superman is the same thing. Under the natural order of things, he would've never left his planet. However, due to circumstances beyond his control... he was jettisoned in a spaceship, landing on an alien world, and bombarded by radiation from an alien sun. Granting Him his poers.

Even if this would've happened to EVERY kryptonian it makes no difference. The gamma rays that the hulk was struck by, perhaps every human would react the same way? Would the hulk then be natural? No.

Just because every other member of your species would react the same way to the bizarre circumstances doesn't make them natural.

And yesm Statesman can be wrong about his own game.
  19. There's no genetic abberation however.

If he had developed a mutation that mimicked vampirism, then yes, he would be a mutant.

However, the origin of his half-vampirism powers is not aberrerant genes (because no mutation occured), but instead through the inherent magical nature of his vampiric parentage.

Statesman says Superman has a Natural Origin?

    Well, statesman's wrong.
  20. I'd say that Blade would be of magical origin, as vampires are mythic/magical/supernatural creatures.

For example, would a Vampire hero be considered "Natural".

No, because we're using a regular avg beer swilling joe as the template.

    Think of your avg human.

Now, add vampirism (the supernatural kind).

This produces a Vampire, and the powers that come with it are due to the vampirism. Therefore the Character's origin is magical (because vampirism is magical in nature).

Statesman may have said statesman is natural, but i'm talking about superman.
  21. If that were true then why wouldn't captain america be natural?

It required an outside influence (the sun) to awaken the powers in Superman.

Without the radiation from our sun, superman would have been an everday avg mook.

It's the radiation from our sun that gives him power.

Just like the radiation from the spider gave peter parker his powers, the radiation gave bruce banner his powers, and the super soldier serum gave captain america his powers.

Natural powers are acquired through training and/or intense focus.

That is not how superman acquired his powers. He acquired his through scentific mishap.
  22. No, you pretty much had it nailed.

Superman is a tricky one though. Does he get hi Super Powers Naturally, or from Science?

At first glance, we'd say Natural... because he was born that way. He wasn't born mutated, etc etc. He was an alien, sure, but not a mutant, and that's just how aliens are on our planet.

However, and for those who do not know, superman gets his powers from our sun (if I remember right). That being said, is it not possible that superman would have a science origin?

Both Peter Parker (Spiderman) and Bruce banner (The Hulk) are clear cut examples of scientific origin, as they both recieved their powers through scientific accident. Captain America too, is of science origin, as it was the super soldier serum (a scientific creation) that gave him his powers.

However, if superman has undergone no treatment, nor been the victim of an accident, etc etc, how can he be of cientific origin?

First, Superman is not SUPPOSED to be superman. On his world (if it still remained), he'd be a regular schmuck, on our world though, he's something impressive.

Look at it this way, Superman is CONTINOUSLY beneath that gamma ray, or continuously being feed the super soldier serum....

The scientific accident that caused superman to be superman is still happening, as he is still on our planet.

Because of this, I say superman is of scientific origin.
  23. Well, there are no "Plant bombs and run" missions. Other than that.. portals of sparkly light that transport you elsewhere, aerial platforms that are tricky to reach without Flight or Teleport, new ways to enter and exit missions.. actually ARE in the game. They just aren't related to the Sky Raiders

As for the kill stealing... several groups can get "badge credit" off one monster... just like several heroes can get defeat credit off one villain.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was leaving a mission in Perez on one of my alts (10ish tanker at the time) and saw a bunch of people gearing up to take down Kraken. They were broadcasting to the zone for everyone to help, so since I was right there I helped out when they said to attack and stuff. I landed a few hits, got some xp off the kill, but no badge. Managed to not get killed either! Anyway, is there a minimum amount of damage (10% or so maybe) that a given team has to do to recieve badge credit for a kill?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seems to be that your team (or you individually, if you are solo) has to land about 25% of the enemy's total HP in damage for it to count. I have no idea how healing enemies, like Vampyri Commandants, affect this.
  25. I can't get the Zookeeper badge either. Presumeably it'd be for monkeys, as thats really the only Rikti enemy type that makes sense given the name of the badge. So unless it gives no progress and requires 300-500 monkeys or so...
