...they aren't, generally speaking, secret societies.

Take, for example, the zoning committee for my city. Their meeting minutes are available on the web. The important topics they are discussing sometimes show up in the newspaper. Many of their meetings are open to the public so that we can see what's being discussed, and at some of them, we are even invited to speak. They don't just show up and rezone my neighborhood without me getting a chance to know the topic is even up for discussion.

Supposedly there is a group of people out there to represent my interests in regards to PvP to the devs. Other than a few names I've managed to randomly pick up here and there, I don't know who they are, or what they're working on, or what they've decided not to work on.

Don't get me wrong. Its great that there's a chair of events, and a community representative for each server, and a grand pubah of PvP badges...but who's the friggin' meeting notes recorder? 'Cause that guy's slackin'.

Forget for a moment the whole selection process, can we find out what the committee is and what they're up to, since it's supposedly on our behalf and all?

A committee appointed solely by the devs and reporting solely to the devs, only represents the devs' interests.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sheema you make some really great points, I believe at this time the committee is formulating their membership lists and the over all structure of their organization.

In the beginning I took willing participants as well as recommendations about who was knowledgeable in PvP and that mixture was the genesis for where the committee is today.

Now since the last month of planning and preparations has taken place we are currently moving into the stage of me being a contact point for the development team and them functioning as an autonomous entity.

That is to ensure they can plan and execute events on their own without any dev involvement or they can present submissions to be reviewed through the proper channels.

Currently because they are in a shift I think your request can not be met but if you give them a little time to shuffle and prepare I believe they will meet your needs as a community to be both a voice and advocate for the various PvP styles.

As far as the unveiling of the event, well it is "Coming Soon" TM.

I can say from my perspective that the submission is stellar, and while we might not be able to meet them point for point on their requests, we have some counter offers to make that are really equitable.

Timing is key, and so we are waiting for the right time to make the presentation and with I9 on the hot plate, it will be kept warm until after that has been served up.

Any direct questions about your committee can be asked via your server representative, BigNord, Darque Duce, or me.

Thanks for your feedback it is very valid.

  3. Hello PvP Community. Since we already know how special you are, and that you all work from very early in game to build up your PvP sets just right for the PvP environment. We wanted to ensure you had a space to make guides, builds, and get some of your general tactics documented.

Some will ask why is there a need for a second guide area, and the answer is simple, PvP builds are different from PvE builds. So this space is dedicated to PvP and we want to give it the same time and dedication that we have in the guides section from player help.

So we will need some help in making this happen.

    1) A call for guides that are specific for PvP.
    2) Some dedicated and organized folks that will help us wrangle up all those guides and communicate with us on the community end to get those guides updated to the master lists.

What we are looking for are people who are willing to take a category or two and create a revised version of the post containing all the new links.

Let me explain further. For example, say someone is willing to help update the Kheldian Guide Post. What they would do is the following:

    1. Visit the guide post they want to update.

    2. Click the "Quote" button, just like they are replying to that post and wanted to quote it. This will give the person editing the original posts UBB code (with links and all that).

    3. Using that content and UBB code, create a new post that is updated. This would include links to any new guides and any new information, or organization they feel is appropriate for that Guide post.

    4. Post their revised version as a reply to the end of the thread where the guide link post is at.

    5. Send a Private Message to Ex Libris or Lighthouse letting us know you have posted an updated guide link post. As with any communication to us it is helpful if you provide the link in your correspondence.

    6. Then, we'll take a look at it and if the revised guide post looks good, then edit the original post and paste in your revised version and give you credit in that post as the "Official PvP Guide Post Editor."

    7. Once we use your revision, we will send you a reply private message and you will then have the option to have your title changed to "Official PvP Guide Post Editor."

Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to help with this!

Head here for discussion on this activity.
  9. Here is a list of servers we have been to so far:
Justice, Infinity, Liberty, Pinnacle, Protector, Triumph, Guardian, & Virtue.

Leaving Champion, Freedom, & Victory on deck.

What we are doing is creating small, spontaneous events that will not be announced so that people who are online at that time will get the lucky rewards of coming out and participating.

Now, we will also have several announced activities, so don't you fret.

The reason for the spontaneous events is that we can schedule them in but if things get busy then we can shift and make arrangements to alter the schedule, lets just say it gives us a bit of breathing room.

So the first one we did was around St. Patricks Day, we did an April Fools Day, Spring Gala, and the last one was centered around Freaky Friday.

w00tradio.net has gone with us each time to document the occasion, so look there for more pictures.

And don't worry "there's a lot up our sleeves."

    Ex
  10. So Lighthouse and I met up with DJ Jester and DJ Genna from w00tradio.net again last Friday to run one of our spontaneous server costume parties.

This week on the list were Guardian, Triumph, and Liberty where we saw hundreds of Freaky and not so Freaky Friday costumes in honor of it being Friday the 13th.

See this link for information on the gallery and for discussion of this activity.
  11. So the announcement here details the last group of servers we hit on our spontaneous "It's Pay Day" Friday events.

Guardian, Triumph and Liberty pictures can be seen here at w00tradio.net

We wish to thank DJ Jester and DJ Genna from w00tradio for helping us to document and celebrate some of our Freaky Friday costumes.

We hope everyone who was able to participate in this activity had fun, and if we missed you this time, we might see you next time.

  12. You may have noticed some recent trimmings to your forum, and this was justified due to some very blatant thread jacking.

Please be aware of your posting habits and keep the fun and off topic stuff down to a minimum of a few threads. While it is only in fun and appreciated by some of you, there is another group that uses the forums to gather information and find out about current server events so please be courteous to them and leave threads of this type alone.

Feel free to have your fun, lets just keep things in perspective regarding needing to take over every post placed here in this forum.

I have started this thread so that any of you that like to get into having just a bit of fun can feel free to spin this thread along as you like.

But remember there can be moderation in all things.

If any of you have any questions or concerns feel free to PM me, and I would be happy to address them.

    Thanks and have fun here!

    Jump to Part II

    Ex Libris, part III.

Isabelle put down the book she was analyzing removed her glasses and rubbed the soreness from her eyes. Then keeping her eyes closed stretched her neck and tried to stretch her arms. She was sore. It was certain that she would never beat Derek in a fencing match, that is what she gets for going up against a champion but damn if she wasn’t going to give it her all. Izzy met Derek when he first came to work at the Freedom Corps on the ELITE division. Since Derek was a supervisor for ELITE he was actually allowed to interact with Izzy on a personal as well as professional level. Most people working within the Freedom Corps complex had no knowledge of an Isabelle Dubois or if they did, many of them hardly knew what her job there entailed. Isabelle had access to more classified information than any human being could possibly know what do to with, or even be able to begin to decipher. Isabelle’s duties were simple she was the guardian and protector of information that if found in the wrong set of hands could destroy Paragon City, or even the world. Isabelle came and left work each day under a closely monitored protected passage, she did not leave the office ever after entering each day until the end of the day when she would leave from a separate closely monitored protected passage. But one of the perks of working there was an in house gym, cafeteria, and private quarters.

Izzy cared little for the cloak and dagger stealth factors that were involved with her job. All she cared for were some of the books and ancient manuscripts that had somehow managed to survive an intellectually careless species. To say humans were reckless with their treasures and resources was one thing but some of what Izzy had seen would put them in the down right dumb category, and Izzy tried hard not to focus on that. Izzy brought her arm back down and glanced at her watch, 1:17, hmm she thought I have just enough time to rest my eyes before that 2:00 planning meeting. Izzy disappeared to her small but comfortable private quarters and laid down for a nap.

Since Izzy knew that falling asleep would make her more tired than she was already she decided to do some meditation. Izzy had been lucky to find Allison King through her contacts at Freedom Corps. Allison said that she could help Izzy remember her past and put her life at ease, and Izzy decided to give it one last chance before just letting the wiped details be filled in with the wild musings of her imagination. Izzy breathed deeply in and out, letting all the stress leave her body as she exhaled. She settled in on Allison’s advice to let her mind go where it wanted to, and that would help her retrace her steps.

“Argh!” Izzy sat up frustrated. “Concentrate, dammit.” Izzy pushed her fingers into her closed eyes to relieve the tension that was building there. As she sat there with pressure on her eyes, she noticed that there was a gradual movement from darkness to a centered light. The pinnacle of the light forming just over the bridge of her nose, it reminded her of a lighthouse. That was it, the lighthouse that was the key. Isabelle laid back down still holding pressure on both of her eyes and concentrated on that moment she was held in a pendulum of nearly frozen death and barely willing life. She remembered contemplating just rolling off the cushion into the ocean and letting her lungs fill with water. She knew it would be painful, but quick. But something kept her holding on to the balance of life. How did she get out of the ocean? What happened? She just couldn’t piece that together. Izzy remembered being there, but the next memories she had were of her elementary school Moorecrest. It was the lighthouse, Izzy knew that it had some answer, some clue; in fact she could even see the interior of it in her mind’s eye. Yes, she had actually been there, she remembered it being small, having a kitchen with an old pot belly stove. She remembered the whistle of a tea kettle….

    “Iz, you back there?”
Isabelle sat up startled and annoyed.
“Sure Derek, I’ll be right there.” “K, I just thought we could walk to the meeting together, so I could gloat a bit more about my victory.”
“Hah,” Izzy shouted. “Vanity is not a virtue.”
“Well Iz, to your credit if you had started fencing at the age I did I think today would have been your triumph.”
“You really are quite good, where did you learn?”
    “In books,” Izzy replied.
    “Nah you are kidding right?”
“Nope,” Izzy said, “I read “The Count of Monte Cristo,” as well as “The Three Musketeers” when I was a kid and after that I couldn’t get enough material on sword fighting.” “Not only that but I was obsessed with pirates when I was younger.” “My mom used to tease me with bedtime stories about my made up pirate ancestors; I swear she had a better imagination than I do.”
“Hmm, your mom sounds cool, does she live here in the city.”
Izzy came through the doorway of her small room and replied casually, “Nope, no family now, I’m an orphan.”
“Heh, well good one Derek, way to impress the lady.” Derek said slightly embarrassed. “No big deal Derek, I was pretty young when it happened, I don’t really remember them.”

“So shall we away to the Justice meeting?” Izzy quipped.
“Sure thing, I hear Miss Liberty has a special announcement.
The two of them walked side by side up the stairs that lead to the pentagon shaped room above. Each branch of the Freedom Corps lead out to there own area, and the main meeting room was above the area where Izzy worked. There was an intricate design and immense amount of structural architecture that went into the building. There was even a vault level below the main area where Izzy worked, as far as Izzy knew only six individuals had access to the vaults, and she was one of them. Considering her existence, or lack thereof Izzy always viewed the proceedings of the Justice planning meetings from a secured location.
“Well this is my stop.” Derek said.
“Yep,” Izzy replied. “I’ll see you later this week.”
“Yeah next time I’ll go a bit easier on you in the match,” Derek chuckled.
“Don’t you dare for one second you hear me Derek, I am going to beat you one of these days, and I don’t want you placating me.”
Derek laughed, “ok Iz, I promise.”

Izzy kept climbing a set of stairs where she could see the guard standing near the secured door. Isabelle nodded as she passed by him and quietly took her seat.

These meetings always bored Izzy, she was never one for paying attention to one thing for too long. She would have loved to sneak a book in to read, or to fall asleep but the cameras were another story. She could only imagine having that caught on camera, and then having to deal with her bosses. So Izzy cleverly brought a small notebook in with her so that it appeared like she was keeping notes of the meeting. She wasn’t tasked with doing so, there were appointed scribes in every meeting, who would then translate any of the meeting notes into the various languages and disperse them. So Izzy knew that she would receive a well written version of notes that she could catch up on anything she missed. Plus a small scan of the room showed that only the most die hard heroes were paying attention. It was amazing what crossed the minds of the average hero on a Friday afternoon. Izzy lost herself in her word doodles and symbolic scribbles. Falling almost trance like traced the infinity symbol into her notebook then traced its path over and over again until the sideways figure 8 nearly wore through the paper. Infinity was a concept that she had studied so much but was still so far from having any sort of understanding about. What was it all for? “Gah!” she said aloud as the speaker announcing the end of the meeting stood to thank everyone for coming. Well, Izzy thought, it’s Friday night, and it’s been a long week. I think I will head over to Pocket D tonight for a drink.

Isabelle Dubois had to admit that of all things that were overwhelmingly full in her life, her social life was seemingly lacking.
