I have all the paranoia books in nice little plastic bags =) GOOD condition and all..too bad it scares people to play the first time..havne't had any repeat players =\

How can someone not enjoy playing Paranoia?? I mean burning thru your clones is just too much fun! Also enjoyable for non stop laughing while playing is HOL (Human Occupied Landfil). Not as well done as Paranoia, but really funny. You just have to love a game that has the skill 'make sharp things go thru soft things that scream and bleed'. -

Curveball, thanks very much for this guide. I saw it first on the warcry boards and has helped me inmmensly in /shudder roleplaying my character.
I especially like the loading in of a new thing to say each time a power is used. I use Force bolt a lot and came up with quite a number of things to say when using it. However, i did not want to map tons of keys to do this. I'm glad I came to check your guide out again.
Keep up the good work.

Okay, this isn't answering my question. I'm not saavy with winDOHS pathing. Will COH or coh substitute for cityofheroes as a path?

Wow...thank you so much. I hadn't checked this in a little while so I was really pleased to see someone liked what I wrote. I am not playing Frigid as much as I wish I could (due to the Freedom server's incessant crashing) but I'm working on the origin for my new character on the Infinity server, "The Pilot". He's turning out to be really fun to play.
Thanks again for your kind words! -

...Finally, there's a couple of D20 superhero systems out there. Mutants and Masterminds is sitting on my bookshelf right now. It's only nominally a 'D20 system' game, they've seriously toyed with the mechanics and it uses a points-based design system a la Champions or DC Heroes. Looks good on paper, not sure if my weekly gaming group will ever fit it into our schedule though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Had to throw in my 2 cents worth,I've tried a little bit of everything, and Mutants & Masterminds was by far the quickest to pick up, incredibly fun, and flexibly enought to play almost any enviroment. We have played Marvel, DC, and Darkhorse universes with almost no customization needed. It was hilarous that it took more levels to accurately portray Batman, than Superman!
(purely NPC of course and extremely rare occurring- not much of everyday a crossover comic)
The alternate rule systems allow you to mesh as much or as little as you want with normal D20 rules, but after playing for roughly a year, we've fallen back to the base rules since we feel they reflect much more accuratly "super fights" where rarely does superman hitting a villian, crush his skull, and leave him dead. Mostly comics deal with KOs, and since the PCs don't want to die when they find themselves outmatch by a new super villian, getting KO'd instead of crushed is much more dynamic to play. Death still happens, but is rare and has much more weight since you have to stand over an unconcious enemy and deal a lethal blow to their helpless body!
I think COH would adapt beutifully into Mutants & Masterminds, becuase it's the same theme. Simple, effective, and incredible flexibility. -

keybinds doesn't show in any directory I have after I did a /bind_save.
Also, will the game read cityofheroes as coh? All the binds I want use 'coh' but the true path is cityofheroes.
This is the confusion. I'm not clear on how windows and coh read paths---because, I'm used to pennmush softcoding where everything is logical heh
Advice?

Helloween
Helloween drifted through the clouds slowly, soaking
in the moment of blessed peace before it was
shattered. Moments like this were rare for the risen
demon. Having only recently turned away from the
darkness his mind was often a chaotic jumble of
conflicting emotions and drives. Instinct drove him
to corrupt, to destroy, to kill, but his will and
desire for redemption fought agianst those urges.
Luckily his more violent aspects had an outlet.
Pounding on the Hellions, Skulls, and other numerous
thugs that threatened the safety of Paragon City
provided some modicum of relief, with the added
benefit of furthering his quest for redemption.
Then there were moments like this. Quiet. It often
took taking to the sky to find a moments peace, and
even then it didnt always help. The moon was out ,
shining bright, full-faced in the sky. With a moon
that big in the sky Helloween felt somewhat...
small... an usual and refreshing sensation for the
nearly 7 ft tall, broad-shouldered demon.
Then he felt it, that twinge in the back of his head.
An almost painful pull that he had taken on as his
curse when he set upon the road of redemption.
Innocents were in danger nearby. Helloween spun on
his axis, angling himself down. He let himself fall.
Down. Down. Down through the thick clouds over the
city. Down. Down. Picking up speed. Down past the
tips of the skyscrapers. Faster and faster. Always
towards the source of the call in his mind. He pulls
up, now runnin paralell to the ground. The buildings
rushed by underneath him in a blur as Helloween
squinted his eyes against the wind.
He pulled up short near a large warehouse. Police
cars encircled it. He knew the innocents were inside,
along with the guilty. Never one for subtlety, he was
about to rush the wall and slam through, when
something made him stop. A feeling, almost a voice in
his head said, "Wait..." Somehow he knew when the
proper time to act would be. So he hovered there
waiting...
About 20 minutes later, several small children
scrambled out from a small hole, the police rushed to
rescue them. Helloween knew the innocents were safe,
but the guilty were still within. "NOW!" he said out
loud as he rocketed towards the wall, slamming through
it with inhuman force... -
For me, it would definitely be "I Stand Alone" By Godsmack.

Chapter 1: The long overdue return home
Jay Winters eh? the security guard looked up at me dubiously as if I had sprouted horns, You dont look like much of a super hero to me.
Looks can be deceiving, I retorted in a plainly unconcerned voice. Jennifer, my old fence and forger from my teenage years in Paragon, had done a topnotch job on the ID, and it had been painfully easy to hack into the security database and add myself in, so I knew there was no need to worry. Besides, who ever tries to disguise themselves as a super hero?
Well if you want a new costume with some tights or something, I know a great tailor- he began as if he had all the time in the world before I cut him off.
I chafe easy, I smirked giving my loose jeans and button down shirt a tug as if to demonstrate.
Ah well, were glad to have you here, Paragon needs all the heroes it can get, he beamed thankfully, but I didnt have the heart to take the ruse any further so I simply smiled and boarded the waiting tram.
I cant say I ever expected to be back in Paragon City, when I left ten years ago I had several members of the Freedom Phalanx on my tail, but given all that had happened in that time I doubted there was even so much as a musty old filing cabinet with my criminal record in it.
Fine way for Paragons premiere thief to make his grand return I mumbled under my breath as the tram car bumped along towards the city center, Although I suppose that title probably belongs to someone else by now.
As if confirming my response one of the compartments in my utility belt vibrated noisily. Pulling out the cell phone inside I brought it to my ear, Winters.
Do you have the well? came the reply, it was my employer, someone I wasnt looking forward to talking to. Although I was admittedly curious about them after what had happened just a few days ago, their voice was familiar perhaps someone who had employed me during my days in Paragon, but I couldnt put my finger on it.
There were complications, the 5th Column showed up, I responded blandly.
Then you have failed I take it? a strain of hidden concern could be heard from the mans voice on the other end.
Not yet I havent, during my escape from their vessel I managed to gather where they were taking it, I continued in a business like fashion despite this being the first time someone had beaten me to my prize.
The master thief Jay Winters was captured? came a boisterous laugh from the other end of the phone, it sounded so familiar, but who? Where are they taking it?
Paragon, I retorted coldly despite the lack of maliciousness in that laugh, Like I said, I havent failed yet, theres just been a change of plans as to where Im stealing it from.
Ten years robbing the dead, and now Im back to robbing the living.
That is not good news, came the reply after a long moment of silence, The Well of Souls must not be opened.
Dont worry, Ill get you your trinket, I stated rather unconcerned.
No I think its time I withdrew my contract with you Mr. Winters, this is out of your league, my employer stated in a kind almost fatherly fashion. Was he trying not to hurt my feelings?
Its too late for that, Ive taken your job and I intend to fulfill it, I responded holding back the sparks of annoyance his words had brought forth.
You dont know what youre dealing with Mr. Winters, this is a job for heroes not treasure hunters, the kind of forces youd be dealing with are not something for a normal person to get involved in, he replied, his voice growing more serious.
Just have the money ready, I replied cuttingly, ignoring what he said and hanging up before he could reply.
At last I recognized the voice, but why would he be hiring me? The very man that got me to leave Paragon in the first place is now the reason Im going back.
I stared out the window as the tram continued on its journey, I had heard about the great dividers erected during the Rikti wars, but this was my first time seeing them. Much of Paragon had been destroyed in that time and many new statues of fallen heroes had been raised in their honor, but despite all this it still felt like the same Paragon as when I did my last job here, the one that ended my career as a thief.
The tram car gave a bit of a lurch as it came to a halt, and I simply followed the throng of people heading out of the station as I pondered my next move. The first stop would be city hall and the reason I got this ID in the first place, I knew the 5th Column had brought the ancient clay urn my employer was so worried about to Paragon, but I didnt know exactly where. I could have just stolen all the info the local authorities had on the Column I suppose, but I wasnt in the mood to be reverting to my old career, I had left that behind for a reason. For now I had to play the part of the hero and see what information I cant dig up legitimately, well as legitimately as I ever do things.
More to come... -
I know that I can go to the options and make some changes such as Invert mouse or assign a key to Cycle Target Enemies. However, this has to be done for each new character I make. Is there anyway to make changes to the Options carry over to all characters that I make?
Thanks,

Our hero was a promising young athlete, a 7-foot basketball all-star, with a 4.0 grade point average and job offers from bio-tech firms around the world. Loving the game, and knowing that he could always pursue academics later in life, he decided to enter professional sports. Under intense pressure to perform, he struck a deal with the Hellions and purchased a rare experimental steroid to boost his performance on the court.
The drug reacted with his body chemistry with disastrous side effects. Although it allowed him to have increased stamina, and to recover from injuries at an alarming rate, he found that it drastically lowered his intelligence and completely destroyed his ability to learn new concepts.
Without the ability to understand what was happening on the court, and to adapt to changing events around him, his pro career was cut short and his case was highly publicized as a cautionary tale for steroid use.
Taking pity on him, and seeing an opportunity for much needed publicity to help fund his projects, a brilliant research scientist offered the chance to restore his cognitive abilities through a series of experimental therapy sessions. The procedure involved 'forced learning' sessions in which education video would be piped directly to his cerebral cortex. He would essentially be viewing the education material thousands of times (mentally) a minute.
Early treatments were highly successful, restoring much of his intelligence, but in a horrifying series of calamities, the final treatment changed his life forever.
Instead of educational materials being loaded into the equipment, an intern's entire collection of samurai, kung-fu, and Quentin Tarantino films were inadvertenly 'forced' upon him. When the error was discovered, scientists frantically attempted to shut down the machine, hoping to limit the damage... but at that exact moment...
Vahzilok raiders, wanting very much to harvest parts from this enhanced physical specimen attacked the lab. Various superheroes in the area came to the aid of the helpless lab employees, but in the resulting battle all the scientists were killed and the building collapsed, trapping our hero inside... still hooked to the machine... still watching Kill Bill vol. 1 at the rate of a thousand times a minute.
Two days later, when the rubble was cleared, he was found, horribly disfigured, with no identification, astounding skill with a katana, and irretrievably insane. Authorities were unable to identify him, except for medical charts that contained his initials: M.R.E. He was jokingly referred to as Mystery Man.
During the chaos of the Rikti invasion, M.R.E escaped from his padded cell and went on a rampage, seeking Vahzilok zombies wherever he could. Still clinging to his last bit of morality, he functions as a super-powered hero... alas, when he was convinced to register as a super-hero with Paragon City, the names MRE, Mr E, Mister E, and other variations were already taken... he settled for Mr Eman.
Today, he can be found patrolling the streets, katana in hand, a mask to hide his horrible features... and a special place in his dark heart for vengeance against the Vahzilok. -

The revelation by Ivory has a predictable result on Lobe. He scrunches his face up in concentration and then looks at her in confusion and asks, "Does that mean you like boys?" He watches her fly to Deth and Sly, waiting for an answer. Then, upon the completion of Ivory's ultimatum to the stowaway in Deth's head, Lobe's attention is kidnapped by the emergence of the demon. Absently, he picks up Contact's limp form and drapes him carefully over his shoulder while staring at the single horned entity that just finished emerging from Deth. The connection between her sudden increase in pain and its appearance actually doesn't slip past Lobe's teflon perception and his eyes start to go bloodshot as the implications of it sink in. Contact's body starts to jostle as Lobe's shoulders and arms begin shaking, moving towards ever violent tremors........

Pardon, but I'm a bit confused on exactly where I can store files with customs binds. Can I store them in the city of heroes folder or will the patcher overwrite/erase this?

I just put all my keybindings in "c:\coh\". When I want to load one, I just use \bind_load_file c:\coh\file.txt
I don't think the updater would overwrite your files, but I'm not at all sure.
