I agree AM does alot of things but i dont believe it should have changed any....I mean all your powers should get better and easier to use as you level or become a better hero. I understand you and your teamates should not be running around "super uber" but AM was not doing that at all. I am almost grouped with the same 4-5 guys everynight, and before the patch we were doing ok...not great but ok... we had a controler, tank, blaster and 2 defenders(myself included). I have to tell you we were not taking on things that were anymore then yellow or reds to us as the groups wouls squash us if we did not think strategically. (this included the use of AM). We were not "immune to all things", we were not getting "massive" damage added...and the only thing good about the run enchancment was we could bolt out of danger quicker. Finally no matter what anyone says the endurace buff was not enough to keep us all full...infact even with the BUFF we were all still running out of END before the fights were even over.....And before you say oh you can get the recharge time down to being able to stack...this may be so but not till you have it full of (SO) enchancments. And you dont get those till your higher up which makes it ok as you have worked your butt off to get to this level and should be able to come close to stacking your own BUFFs.
Sorry for grammar and spelling. -

Defenders and controllers rely on AM for the one attribute you failed to mention, endurance regen. How bout removing the run speed, flight speed, damage add, and then reduce the time recharge back some ?
Read thru the 30 posts on people complaining about the AM adjustment, i dont see a single one complaining about loss of run speed, flight speed, or damage increase. Pretty much every thread is the loss of endurance regen for normal fighting, ans some for the haste effect . Its now used only for a boss fight.

Yes, I actualy had that, and accidently edited it out. But that is a very significant part of the power. But that sorta is my point. AoE END REcovery is very powerfull. Only Emapthy has another AoE Recovery boost, and its the second to last power and has a 500 second recahrge. Nothing is more powerful than END. It is probably more important than HP. That is what makes AM so powerfull, and why its recharge was increased. Other defenders dont have that advantage. It was unbalanced. But again, the RT tie will be reduced, but not to the way to used to be.

Last night, this power was used on our team to defeat Dr Vahzilok---one of the longest battles I've yet experienced in the game (and this coming from beta where I had the same battle). The first attempt without it operating ended in complete defeat heh heh--and it was fun. The second attempt, the controller used it (I guess, I don't play a controller). We won---barely. It was an exciting fight. Not once did I hear any complaint from that controller about this power. He or she (not sure who was who as it was a pickup team) used it strategically, when it was most needed. It is not useless, I assure you---far from it. My point is, even AFTER the 'adjustment' , the power is still very much a deciding factor in super battles.

Brainstrain:
Another day at team1 headquarters. All the superheroes and superheroines are getting ready for their days. Except for the nocturnal ones, that is. Erica America is busy in the training room, trying to take down a copy of herself. Nothing seems to work; the duplicate knows everything she's going to do before she does! Finally, she decides that the weakness of anyone, strong or feeble, evil or not so evil, is shame. She cites transgressions of her own until her double bursts down into tears, and then disables the double.
"Great job, Erica!" Shouts machinery Myron, the aspiring technician. He helps in the early morning, helping the training equipment and stuff.
"Once you know their secrets, anyone from politicians to mimes crumble. Except you can't try and misquote an evil mime. They won't call for help, though, if you've almost defeated them" She replies.
Erica moves to the kitsch suburban kitchen of the HQ to eat her breakfast and read about her stocks.
Erica: Wow, it seems that re-construction companies and alien repellants are really up! So its Cryptic studios. I wonder what they make, but it seems popular...Ooh! I'm the news!
Page E7! Erica America of Team1 defeats Larry Spotter, malicious mage! Erica takes out a microscope from above the counter and reads the article.
Erica: Yup. It says how I defeated him after he "poofed" away the money inside all those registers, and how I noted that he was riding his broom incorrectly, and when he stopped to change it, I tossed garbage lid at him and he fell off. But what about his partner, "Hair my own, Ninny"? HMON was sure to pop up somewhere. Erica collected the mail, paid a few bills (not out of her own pocket, of course) and went to get a bit more sleep.
Erica: I'll set my alarm clock, so I'll wake up in time for my training session with Rook.
*And she did*
Gahd:
Recon stood in the observation deck, filling out reports on the trainees progress. A few of them showed real promise, others were obviously destines to clerical jobs for the team. It was almost time for his and Rook's session with the group.
No sooner was the thought through his mind than Rook entered the room. He looked rather somber this morning, even for him. Seeing as how they had about 10 minutes left in the trainees warm-ups, Recon decided to ask Rook about it.
"Another late night? You look like you've just went 3 rounds with a mind-melter."
The observation window iced-over as one trainee trapped another with a beam of pure cold. It was one of the more promising ones, he'd been getting kind of cocky recently.
It was a good thing this session was to pit Rook and Recon against this group to prepare them for their testing next month. It was high time the popsicle boy learned some humility.
Recon melted the Ice with a flash from his palm, freeing the unfortunate future file clerk from his icy prison. He made another note to reprimand the cold-controller, the boy had frozen-over the other's head, Team1 was not a place for carelessness.
Rook hadn't even seemed to notice any of this, he looked very contemplative. Recon tried to remember the last time Rook had acted this way, it was totally unlike him.
Recon got Rook's attention the old-fashioned way, with a tap on the shoulder. Rook's eyes flashed with a minor surprise "What?".
"I just asked you what's going on. Are you shure you're ok for this session? Some of thease trainees are loose cannons, theay've got no control, just raw power. We're here to show them that they need to train themselves to be better than that, and the last thing we need is a senior member in less-than-perfect shape."
Rook:
Bad shape....
Watching cadets train all day was almost too boring for Rook. Yet, at least now he got to test out his skills on them.
****
Rook and Recon strode down the long, cold pathway towards the training facility's iron doors. Recon punched a few buttons on the outside panel, and the doors slid open with a hiss. Rook walked into the middle of the large, desolate area; his foot steps noticeable upon the steel floors.
Recon made his way over to the training simulator computer. He set up the simulation to be in a jungle scene, with the correct temperatures and heavy rain. Still glancing over at his teammate, he wondered if Rook was ready for this.
Pressing a button on his belt, Rook got on to the intercom.
"Trainees Jason Sharp and Erica America...you will now be' tested in a real combat situashune with two' veterans. Think ye kin handle it?"
The sound of the other training doors hissing open were all the confirmation Rook needed.
The jungle scene formed around them, and soon neither group could see each other. The rains were pretty heavy and the ground was hard to move on due to the newly formed mud.
Recon soon teleported himself and Rook into a patch of dense foliage. It would be a perfect hiding place for an ambush. Recon looked over at Rook with a concerned look on his face. Rook's face was stern as he peered out over the scene. The rain was pretty loud, making it nearly impossible to even hear movement.
Erica and Jason could soon be heard though, as Jason, the ice wielder, was practically yelling his orders to Erica. Erica pretty much ignored him, while Jason decided that they should split up.
Recon smiled at Rook and teleported to a place where he would most likely ambush Erica.
This kid isn't the smartest recruit..., Rook thought sarcastically as he peered at Jason.
Jason had his ice shield up around him, which was good for defense, but made him stick out like a green thumb.
Rook quickly rolled out of his hiding place and sent a radioactive blast hurling at the young Jason. The blast tore apart the shield and he was sent spiraling backwards. Rook smiled and began a full charge at Jason, eyes glowing bright green.
Jason, in fear, shot ice blast after ice blast at the oncoming madman. Each missed horribly as Rook's agility was too much for him.
Rook smashed Jason in the stomach with a punch and then tripped him with a leg sweep. Rook grabbed Jason's arm and held it behind his back as he put one knee on his lower back, pinning him down to the muddy ground.
Jason grimaced in pain, but then sent a blast of freezing ice through Rook's body. Soon, Rook was enveloped in a coat of ice. The ice soon covered his face, making it impossible for Rook to breathe.
Jason put on a smirk and began to make his way to find Erica and Recon.
Rook, watching the young man leave him to suffer, grew infuriated. The ice mold soon began to glow a bright green and shattered into hundreds of pieces as Rook's radiation powers freed him from the icy prison.
Rook gritted his teeth and ran behind Jason, tackling him to the ground. Rook flipped him over and repeatedly began smashing him over and over in the face. The young man seemed terrified as blood flew from every part of his face.
"Rook, I have subdued Erica....this pathetic exercise is over..."
Upon hearing Recon's voice, Rook quickly stopped brawling and left the young man on the ground. Jason wiped at the blood with his arm and looked as if he would cry.
Rook just walked away and out of the training simulation, blood still dripping from his hands.
Rook then decided that he needed to take a break. He threw on his leather jacket in disgust with himself and made his way out of Team1 HQ.
Seemed as if alcohol was the only way he could rest his mind as of late....so the pub seemed to be calling his name...again.
Thevshi:
Bernadette watched as Rook drove out of the Team1 base from a rooftop a few blocks away. She placed her binoculars back into her coat pocket as she flew into the air following a bit behind his car. She had been sitting on the roof for a few hours and her muscles were slightly stiff with the cold. She lowered her density to protect her from the cold winds that were sweeping the falling snow about.
Rook drove for about ten minutes, making easy time in the nearly deserted street. When he finally stopped, Bernadette touched down on the roof of a nearby building to observe. Rook exited his car and made his way over to a pub named McGillys. Bernadette smirked as he walked through the door, e is probably going ta get pissed. This is too bloody easy. She drifted down to the sidewalk in front of the pub and stood there a moment, gaze locked on the door. Anger and excitement were pounding through her head and body. Not exactly the most private place ta go after a murderer, but anyone in there will probably clear out right quick. Her jaw set in fierce determination, she strode forward and pulled open the door.
The inside of the pub was dark and slightly smoky. Bernadette squinted slightly as her eyes adjusted to the lighting in the place. There were very few customers, the snow serving to keep all but the desperate away. There were a few small groups of old men or blue collar workers that probably had no where else to be. The conversations that had been taking place stopped as all eyes in the place turned to regard her, their faces betraying the shock of seeing someone as young as her in a place like this. Only one occupant paid no mind to her entrance, a tall brown haired man seated at the bar, the man she was after. Rook.
Bernadette started forward into the pub, heading directly towards Rook, who still had not looked up from his pint. Everyone else was watching her, unsure of what to say, they were all trying to comprehend what such a sweet, innocent looking lass would be doing in such a place. Her appearance had often worked to her advantage, no one expected her to be capable of picking up a main battle tank and throwing it a few hundred meters. Yes, underestimating her had been a big mistake for many in the past.
One of the patrons found some courage and shouted out, Hey there lass, ye are a little early if yer lookin fer a good time, still to much drinkin ta be done. He grinned at the small group of rough looking men he was seated with as they all started laughing.
Bernadette kept her attention focused on Rook as she proceeded, ignoring the remark. Soon enough, they would not be looking at her in the same way. Inside her chest, her heart was pounding at an intense pace. If she hadnt known better, she would have thought it was echoing through the room. Anger coursed through her like a storm, right there, only a few meters away was the murdering ******* she was after. It was all she could do to keep from charging headlong towards him.
She came up behind him and stopped. He was still not paying her any mind, but she was sure that he had watched her in the mirror behind the bar. Are ye the one they be callin Rook? She asked with an accent that was a unusual mix of Irish and British.
Rook:
Rook hunched over his freshly poured ale. All of the patrons of Mc'Gilly's seemed to be paying attention to a newcomer....not that Rook cared. His mind was pounding. He's been having constant nightmares, his teammates wondering about his constant mood swings, and now....he nearly killed one of the new trainees. Rook could see himself having to explain himself to Mr. Edwards in his intimidating office tomorrow... This little girl was the last thing on his mind.
"Are ye the one they be callin Rook?", she said as if she stood right behind him.
The words sent shudders down Rook's spine. By the accent, Rook was convinced that she was an IRA assassin. Even the folks in Mc'Gilly's, an Irish pub, didn't have an accent like that. He tightened his grip on his beer in anticipation.
Then, reality struck him. Why would the IRA be training young girls to work for them? Why would they send only 'her' to come after Rook anyway? These questions calmed his nerves a bit, but still Rook was a bit uneasy.
Maybe....she just happened to be another girl from Ireland....heard about Rook's exploits here through the news or something and wanted to meet her 'hero'. Whatever it was, Rook decided that he would shoo her off so he could get back to drinking.
Rook slowly turned around in his barstool, "What do ye want ye snapper(child)?", and finally faced the young girl with a smirk on his face.
Funny thing was....he only got a faint first impression of her... -

So its game balance that I spend half my time sitting around waiting for end to regen? Do you spend half your time sitting around waiting for end?
[/ QUOTE ]
Why, yes, my Dark Dark Defender does spend a lot of time regenerating my endurance. And I don't get a power that even allows me to get it back that is nearly that cool. -
[ QUOTE ]
So I was correct in saying the AM increase was a knee jerk reaction and unfairly lumped in with hasten. AM haste increase is about half of what Hasten and its not available to everyone like Hasten was.
That being said your post "glossed" over the reasons. Sure its a good buff, sure it has many + elements. But look at the Radiation line hard and tell me we dont need it. Maybe fix the stacking, or decrease the %'s or take out some of the useless + elements such as fly.
I say either correct it properly or leave it the way it was, increasing the recharge timer until you could figure out what to do with it was lousy.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the reason that Rad Defenders *feel* so changed is that they are used to having a lot of endurance to burn. I'm 90% postive if I built my (dark/dark) Defender around having a lot more endurance, I'd have tweaked my powers to recharge *much* faster. As it is, that is the *last* thing I do and I can run out of endurance PDQ with just healing and having my AOE defense buff going with occasional blasts to debuff (while attacking).
(edit: Now that I think about it, the Rad Defender I was teamed with a day or so ago was wonder why my AOE heal was doing about 30% more than his. He asked me if I had speeded it up, which I said no. I went the maximize healing DO's at 15th level. Gotta get one more so I can have four on it pluss 2xDO accuracies.) -

So, with that said, let me give you my 10 Commandments of Geko:
*I will always listen to the community (that goes for the boards, in game, and thru mining data and statistics).
*I will not be scared to be wrong.
*I will react as quickly as possible, but not sooner than needed.
*I will not be scared to be unpopular.
*I will not make a change to the game simply because it is popular.
*I will do my best to continue to make this game fun.
*I will not intentionally stealth nerf.
*I will not reduce Accuracy.
*I will try my best to give you detailed information.
*I will make Statesman wash my car.
(well, 9 out of 10 aint bad)
[/ QUOTE ]
Why isn't this on there?
*I will not lie to the players
or
*I will be honest at all times regarding CoH game systems and mechanics
Obviously there are some things you aren't allowed to reveal, so the appropriate response would be "Not allowed to answer that". I think all rational people can accept that answer. I would hope people wouldn't ask for the why of it and just accept you have limits to what information you can dole out.
BUT
It is entirely unacceptable to say "100% working as intended, will not change" and then change it barely two weeks later. I think it is unacceptable to change it ever, without explaining the reasoning behind the change but that is just me.
Just please treat us better then you (Cryptic) did with the TF and nerf patch and I will resubscribe. I like this game, I plan to play it for a long time if I am convinced enough to resubscribe.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cryptic has never lied to us. Not once. I've seen mistakes made, and corrections and revisions to those mistakes, but never outright lies.
They never said Hasten would not change. They said it was working as intended at the end of beta, and that it seemed to be balanced. They found this to be untrue, so they changed it. This isn't a lie of any sort.
If I gave you an unopened gallon of milk and said it should be fine, you would drink it yes? Then if it was sour, did I lie to you?
How was I to know?
How were they to know that Hasten was that broken before the end of beta? They didn't have the massive amount of players, and all the data that provides before that time.
Leave. Don't come back. I'm not going to miss you, nor is anyone else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for taking care of this for me, Teuxx, because I was about to break it all down on this guy---in far less polite terms. I just hope the Team can withstand this kind of outrageous accusation and innuendo (even in the face of their direct honesty!) and not change and become defensive and jaded.
GRRR
Geko and Team! Thanks for spelling all that out for those who have never interacted with you folks. Those of us who've been through beta and the old bboards already knew all this---it never had to be said. Keep up the awesome work; we do appreciate it.

"One Punch!" Sly Fox instructed Lobe.
Lobe looked back at Sly, "They should have listened to Lobe." The voice was sad but full of determination. Turning back to face the doorway, he began to run. The ground vibrated with each step and, as the door opened revealing the suprised Gideon, Lobe stopped, blocking entry.
To everyones chagrin he didn't punch the demon as instructed. Instead, he asked, "Can you punch me please?"
Gideon, suprised anew, and very, very angry, didn't stop to think about this strange request but took the opportunity that presented itself. "Foolish mortal!" he said disdainfully as he slugged Lobe in the gut with force enough to shatter granite. To his utter amazement Lobe did not budge. Not only didn't he budge but it was apparent to those in the room behind him that his muscles bulged, threatening to burst the 6XL T-shirt that was Lobe's uniform. Then, almost impossible not to see, was the flash of blue light that came from Lobe's head, just above his right ear.
With the flash of light came the cracking of the floor beneath Lobe's feet. Too late, Gideon realized the folly in ignoring Lobe's simple sounding but very sincere warning. The very air was bruised by the passing of Lobe's right arm and fist as it cocked back. Then, surreally, Lobe spoke, "Boxing Cross!" he shouted and let loose his fist. The sound of paper tearing reached those around him as his fist rent the air on its way to Gideon's chest.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This universal rule of physics was demonstrated upon the impact as Gideon, very rapidly, dissapeared from sight. The sickening sound of a body meeting something solid went to prove that the environment through the door was not featureless. A large snap, not of bone, also proved that the environment was now one feature less.
Lobe sat heavily on the floor before the door. His endurance greatly spent. "Phew! I thought I was going to have to push myself." He twisted around to look at the stunned faces staring back at him, "Uh Oh! Did Lobe do something wrong? I'm sorry if I did. Please don't be mad." Lobe looked to be on the verge of tears. -

Now, scrappers are the class of choice for the bored L40s who are waiting for the rest of us, and want to play something that isn't like turning on God mode when they log in. Defenders, well... apparently no one is *that* bored yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol, it's possible that some Scrapper builds are overpowered, I have no idea about that, but most Scrapper builds are hardly overpowered, including most of those that included Hasten in some form. Are there scrappers at 40? Probably some MA/Invlunerabilty Scrappers or something, but I doubt there are more Scrappers up there than Blasters.
Don't go spreading unfounded rumors like that, it just even further throws off the AT balancing efforts.

I think you misread my post... I'm all for Scrappers getting some love from the devs, and even more so after the Hasten nerf.
What I said was that the bored L40s (mostly Blasters) are playing Scrappers because Scrappers are actually hard to play/underpowered, which is a total switch for them compared to their mains... -
One other thing If you feel a person out you can sometimes kinda tell who is roleplaying and who isn't. I met someone last night that appeared to be rude but I believe she was role playing so I played along as the sometimes annoyed at her antics but still there for you teammate! I'll play along with characters like you long as you play back. Know when I've (my character) has had enough of your mouth and back off some! I thought that was the point of this game to live out our superhero fantasies!!!

"I see nothing wrong with Rad Blast and RAd Emmision END cost. It is comperable to all other sets, and identical to their counterparts on others sets."
Well, it's possible for Rad Emission's endurance costs to be comparable to similar powers in other sets ... and still be unbalanced and too big of an endurance drain.
Let me explain. A rad defender's bread-and-butter powers are his toggle targeted AOE debuffs, specifically Radiation Infection and Enervating Field. Now if I counted correctly, there are a grand total of six toggle targeted AOE primary powers in the game:
Snow Storm (storm defender): endurance cost 1.5 per tick
Hot Feet (fire controller): endurance cost 3.0
Telekinesis (mind controller): endurance cost 3.0
Radiation Infection (rad defender): endurance cost 1.0
Enervating Field (rad defender): endurance cost 3.0
Choking Cloud (rad defender): endurance cost 6.0
As you can see, fully half of the primary toggle targeted AOE powers in the game belong to rad defenders This raises a couple of possibilities.
First, perhaps the endurance costs for all or some of the toggle targeted AOE powers are too high, but only rad defenders have really focused on it because they are the ones with most of the toggle targeted AOE powers. (For what it's worth, my personal opinion is that Radiation Infection is fine-the low endurance cost makes up for the crazy long activation animation-but Enervating Field is too high. Don't know about Choking Cloud, because the huge endurance cost and the lukewarm player reviews have convinced me I don't want to take it.)
The other possibility is that the endurance cost of 3 for Hot Feet and Telekinesis is fine because they are the only toggle targeted AOE powers in their power sets ... but that 3 for Enervating Field is not so good because it's typically used in conjuction with with another endurance-sucking toggle power, Radiation Infection. For example, I will often Enervating Field the toughest mob, then when he's defeated immediately switch to Radiation Infection for the minions.
Now I can already hear the objections-"If using those two powers in succession is too draining, then don't do it! Use your other powers instead!" But really, what powers am I supposed to use in a fight? Here's what I have at the moment:
1. Radiation Infection and Enervating Field, the toggle debuffs.
2. Accelerate Metabolism. With the recharge rate upped, this is grayed out and unavailable more often than not.
3. Radiant Aura, a heal. This is costly, and I don't want to use it if I don't have to...it makes no sense to drain my endurance dry just to keep everyone at exactly 100%. So if things are going well, this is not terribly useful.
4. Mutate, a combat rez. Also very costly, and again, if things are going well, this is of no use to me (thank goodness.)
5. My blasts. But using my blasts is by definition also a huge endurance drain. Defender blasts not only do less damage than a blaster's blasts (which everyone agrees is as it should be), they also consume more endurance per point of damage than a blaster's blasts. Only defenders are subject to this extra endurance penalty on secondary powers: no other archetype has it. So using my blasts taps me out very quickly.
With the change in AM, as a teen-level rad defender about the only power I can use constantly in a fight that doesn't drain me dry is Brawl.
Ediit: Whoops, on my list of toggle targeted AOE powers I forgot Darkest Night (cost 1.5). -

Geko for president!!! -
Thanks Geko! This post is very timely and I just wanted to say I think you guys are doing an excellent job of responding and listening.
-
Geko, thank you very much for the response. Your willingness to come talk to us is admirable.
Regarding the AM changes specifically:
1) It is the only buff power in a buff/debuff power set; it should be an incredibly good buff. It should make people go "wow".
2) The net effect of this change is that I have more downtime. I sit around waiting for endurance to come back more often. I have fewer fights per hour. I have less fun per hour. More downtime is not fun.
3) I wasn't a super-fast levelling machine before, and I doubt very many Defenders and Controllers were (well, maybe some Controllers after they get pets). The ultimate standard for whether a power is unbalanced should be whether it causes people to level at abnormally high speeds. Am I wrong, and your data mining shows a flood of Defenders and Controllers steamrolling to 40 because of their super duper AM buff?
4) Making a power have a super long refresh time is much worse for player morale than changing its effect. Right now, I can use the power so rarely that I sometimes forget to use it at all. The magnitude of the effect simply does not justify that kind of recharge timer. I'd suggest reducing the benefits in exchange for making it useable more often, except that I don't think the current timer is at all justified, so I don't feel we should have to give up effects to get a reasonable timer back from you. -
I'm also greatly interested in starting or joining a group centered on role-playing. At the moment I have a Level 7 Blaster on Protector, but his background's kind of campy (time-traveled back from a Wasteland future to prevent it from happening (sound Terminator-ish?)) but I can change it, or create a new character, or happily play him as-is. The character's name is Aeryn Grendian.

Rad blast is fine, but lets take a look at rad emission
Radiant aura 26.5 end.. thats over 1/4 for a weak heal allright its a group heal but its much less than o2 boost or any empathy
Rad inf and enervate are fine
Mutation 56!!!!
Lingering Rad 22.5
Chocking cloud is hard to use and fallout is useless but their end is reasonable
Em pulse 30
About half their powers take 1/4 or More end to use. It might look fine on paper when you compare it to other classes Def prim
but in reality having so many end hogs in one spot really kills it without Am running near constant.
Please consider this when readjusting it, right now rad em is almost unplayable. This is a Primary for many characters having the skill take so long to recharge for something they are so dependant upon is very hard on those people has led to many character deletions and I have even heard a few times groups saying they didnt want rad defenders any more cause they jjust run out of end then leech exp. -
Kaye Krenshaw was sitting at her computer, trying to figure out the latest equations she was working on. She was working for a top secret military weapons lab, and was on a team developing techniques to store mass amounts of kinetic energy and release them as either blast waves or beams. She was just about ready to run her next experiment with the part of the technology that she had been developing.
She finished her equations, then glanced at her watch. Where was he? Her lab assistant was supposed to be here by now. She would wait five more minutes, then start without him. This was a simple experiment anyway. There was very little that could possibly go wrong.
The five minutes passed, and she loaded up the command program for their energy accelerator, which was the basis of the technology she was developing. Normally her assistant would be at the terminal monitoring energy levels while she was operating the accelerator, but she was able to program an automated monitoring program that would shut off the accelerator if the energy level got too high. So she ran that and approached the accelerator.
At the accelerator, she flipped some switches and turned some knobs, all routine startup procedures. She heard the familiar hum that the accelerator made as it started up, then proceded to load in some of the data that she had come up with in the equations she had been working on. The hum got a little louder and higher pitched, but the machine was still operating, so energy levels were still within a safe limit.
Just then, the accelerator made a deafeningly loud screeching noise. Kaye went to pull the emergency shutoff lever, but it was too late. She saw an immence flash of light come out of the accelerator, and felt a wave of something rush through her body. Then she passed out.
When she awoke, she was laying on the floor next to the accelerator, which her program must have shut off right after she got knocked out. She felt kind of queasy and extremely tingly all over. She grabbed an instrument they used to measure energy levels and pointed it at herself. The needle flew all the way to the right. Her level was off the scale.
She had to get out of the lab. If any of the other scientists found and reported what happened to her, the military would probably lock her up to study her. She'd seen it happen before. She grabbed a set of experimental gloves and boots that were designed to harness and release immense amounts of kinetic energy, and left the lab.
But where would she go? She needed to go somewhere she would easily blend in, since she knew that the military would be after her. Then she remembered an article about an alien invasion and a city that was calling for heroes. That would be the perfect place for her to go. She also knew that she could get a good disguise made for her there. She would head to Paragon City. -

Reqs:
No comic remakes(that's a no brainer), and we'd prefer if your name wasn't something .Killer56 or something generic/idiotic like that. There aren't level or playin reqs, but we'd prefer if you were actually ACTIVE in the game.
Costume: You must wear team colors while traveling with the group, and your emblem must be visible (i.e no black costume with a black emblem) Other than that, do what you want with your costume.
Essentially, we're casual gamers who do things other than CoH (though those other things mostly involve the computer...or at least, thats true for me) Most of our adventuring is done between 7:00(CST) and 10:00 during the week, and random hours on weekends. If you end up being helluva annoying, or simply not fun to play with, you're gone. -
mhoram, thats just the point.
the game was fun, the nerfs came, the game was less fun.
can the people saying this change was nessacary actually say the game was less fun for them when hasten worked as it did before? why? how did hasten ruin the game for you? and how has its change made the game better? so far all i see is game before = ppl having fun. game after nerf = lotsa ppl having less fun. -
On the AM change, bottom-line, I'm sitting around waiting a LOT more of the time for my endurance to regenerate than I was pre-patch. Sitting around waiting just isn't fun. And having the base, unenhanced recharge at 11:15 for AM is simply too much, but it appears from Geko's posts that will change at some point (albeit not back to the original 5 minutes).
Thanks for the update, G. Hoping for AM re-changes soonish rather than laterish. -
(Hey, I was wondering, is it still possible for anyone to join in on this rp? From what I have seen, it looks like you're in one of those situations that it would be hard/impossible to join in

I hate to sound like a broken record, but you have not yet commented on the findings of many players concerning the new Hasten timer. We all appreciate your willingness to break down your reasoning to us, and many of us would like to hear what your investigation of the new Hasten has turned up. -

If you want existing supers games, try GURPS Supers. Extremely customizable. Nearly as many options as the costume generator for CoH itself.

I totally agree. GURPS Supers is awesome. I've played ALOT of it. The only bad thing with it is that you have to buy the Supers book AND the basic GURPS book. -
