Quote:Sorry what I mean is that I'd like them to be different mechanically from what we currently have in the game. If it is not substantially different, why not just make it a power set? If you still disagree that's fine of course, that's just my opinion.Where I disagree. I would appreciate more archetypes that weren't specifically locked into certain concepts.
"Generic" Archetypes, if you will. By not being as concept limited, it also means the Archetype could have a much broader appeal to the playerbase, meaning that if their intention is to sell it on the market (and to justify the cost of developing a new AT they basically HAVE to sell it) it would likely recover it's development cost much better (as more people might buy it).
Either way, I won't complain too much about new archetypes, provided they are interesting enough. =) -
Quote:There's enough information on it for it to be real and confirmed, but it's not... not yet, at least. You mean that thing we don't know about and is rumour on account of people not knowing about it? *COUGH*
You really have to be able to give new archetypes interesting concepts, or ones that can't be built into the current archetypes.
Blade armor, for instance, could easily be given to tankers/scrappers/etc and be great for them.
A shapeshifting archetype that shifts into, gee, say wolves and panthers, for instance, would not be able to simply be given to another tankers or scrappers or whatever else.
Likewise, Kheldians are very unique, and soldiers of arachnos develop their own way. They are, in a sense, very similar to other archetypes (Crab spiders aside), even if one given archetype is similar to a hybrid of several, but they are unique in theme and how they branch out into specialties and are by far the best epic archetype NCSoft could have possibly made for villains.
I'd love more archetypes, but they would need to be special and warrant their own archetype. I wouldn't like new archetypes for the sake of adding new archetypes when they would be better suited to new powersets.
For the record, I'd totally go for Rikti epic archetypes, but only if they were properly customizable. =) -
I'd love this idea. I like dark, but I can never find color schemes that work for me. Bright/dark on the other hand would look great. =)
-
Just because you do not play many characters, does not mean that others do not enjoy making alts.
I say, give them more slots. It's more money for NCSoft, and probably is not much work to implement. =)
I am not at that point yet, and probably won't spend that much money, but I am very much an altoholic. -
I have been thinking lately, and I doubt this is the first time this suggestion has popped up, but what if claws did not require you to have a weapon? If you could choose 'no weapon' for the claw weapon in the costume customization?
There are a lot of character types that would use natural claws, or even claw animations as a fighting style. Why not make it official and let people be creative with this?
I myself would be tempted to make a claw character if I could use natural claws, as opposed to weapons. -
Someone recently had an idea earlier that really interested me when I was mentioning how much I'd love a fencing powerset.
While I'd still love a one handed fencing powerset, this idea was also good.
How about giving broadsword secondary animations and access to rapiers and the like to allow them to have fencing? I think that this would be really great, and the second best thing to actually releasing a powerset tailored for fencing.
Let me know what you think! =) -
Quote:If you can't provide screenshots, could you describe what they look like? I would really appreciate any help. I am specifically interested in the tridents and spear-type weapons -- you don't need to worry about the regular staves and brooms if you like. =) For instance, I have no idea what a 'bladed tech staff' looks like, but it sounds interesting.Broom, Pool Cue, Wood Staff, Wrapped Wood Staff, Metal Staff, Glossy Metal Staff, Bladed Tech Staff, Trident, and Pipe.
No pictures or info on the wiki's weapon customization page yet, but that'll be the place to check when it gets updated.
For what it's worth, I love the set. The animations are some of the best yet and flow nicely.
Also, are you able to use shield defense with staff fighting? I didn't think you would, but the hero designer seems to imply otherwise... I am not sure if it's just not updated yet, or if you actually can? -
I've spent the past hour searching the wiki and the forums for a list of the staff-fighting weapon options, but I've had no luck.
I might be interested in the powerset if I knew which weapons were available. Could anyone help me? -
Quote:This is what I suspected, thank you!All damage buffs that are placed on the Mastermind have no effect on pets. A damage buff would have to be placed on the pets individually for them to benefit. Damage buffs differ from enhanced damage, which is what's socketed in abilities or can be granted through the Musculature Alpha slot.
The irony here is that Call to Justice, the hero alignment power, is a far superior ability for Masterminds. It will buff all of your pet's damage by 40% for a full 30 seconds as well as provide 10% +ToHit. -
I would imagine the purple IO set is best by far.
As for affordable, I don't know how good the +resist aura or +defense aura is... so I would probably take blood mandate, or otherwise max out accuracy and damage. Endurance reduction might also be slightly helpful (it effects pets' power costs in addition to the cost of the summoning power itself) Generally, you take the pet damage sets that have set bonuses you desire.
You may also want to consider +build up from the purple set even if you won't be taking the rest of it. Procs in general can be useful, but they only proc with the associated attack type (knockback smash damage procs would only proc from knockbacks, and so on). +recharge procs are worthless to pets, they will simply be immune to them when they trigger.
I know that it's good to buff the resist shields for demons, but don't bother with heals or any other effects for them. Demonlings don't need anything but accuracy and damage. Demon princes... I don't know, honestly. You had better ask someone else on that one. Holds might be worth it, or might not. I also am not sure if ghost widow's +psionic damage proc is useful for them.
I don't want to give bad advice, so you may want to check and make sure with others that this is correct and accurate. -
I am wondering whether Frenzy (+30% recharge, +60% damage) only effects the mastermind (making it not so good for me) or if it effects the pets as well (making it very useful to me)?
I take that recharge won't effect pets either way, so I'm only wondering about the damage.
I would absolutely hate to sound bossy, but I would prefer if someone would test this or has tested this, rather than taking a good guess. My good guess is 'no', but I want to be certain.
To test this power would take me over a week just to take frenzy myself, and then several more days to realign myself and get back other powers, so... I was hoping I could find out sooner if there happen to be any villain masterminds that could test this, or have already tested this, or simply know from other sources.
Thank you for your time! -
Quote:It seems I may have not been entirely clear. Let me try and rephrase what I am looking for:I'm not serious at all, those are the worst sets out there for stalkers.
But since you posted the same thing in nearly every forum, it was pretty clear you didn't do any searching but just posted the question. So I didn't feel like answering it seriously.
To give a real answer, there is no "best" outside of brutes. For brutes SS/Fire/Soul is best singletarget, best aoe, best farming, best soloing, can drop AV's and some GMs solo. It does everything every other set does but better than that set does it. For all other ATs you gotta choose best at what.
Closest we get would be elec/nin which is spectacular AoE, well above average survivability, and decent single target damage.
So, best at what and we can give you real answers.
Of all the archtypes that have access to it, DB performs worst on stalkers. That is not the same as saying it is gimped. But rather that if you want a dual blade character, you'd have a more enjoyable experience on a scrapper. I ran a DB stalker into the 30s and had fun.But when I realized how much better it was everywhere else, I deleted the character and made a new one. I also recommend avoiding energy melee, BS and spines if you are a min/maxer. The rest you are pretty safe with.
Super Reflexes is a very strong set everywhere. Can't really go wrong with it. But you'll probably want to pickup aid self.
I am aware there are several 'best' powersets. In fact, this is what I was hoping for.
My question is, why are these the best? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each? Are there any 'bad' powersets? I took gravity as a dominator once... I don't want to make that mistake with my stalker.
The majority of the guides are dated issue 6, with a few at issue 12. I apologize for seeking help on the forums, but I assure you I have searched for days, weeks even trying to figure out what to do with my stalker. The information on stalkers is so limited that I am not even certain what I should do with mine. Should I try to AOE? Should I attempt to 'scrap', or should I only assassin strike then run away and re-hide? I have many questions about stalkers, but really, just knowing a good powerset that I can work with and have fun with is a good start.
Ideally I was hoping players would list the best powersets, and then I can choose between them based on their strengths and work with them.
I hope this properly clarifies what I am looking for.
PS: For the record, I only posted a similar thread in ONE other forum, the scrapper forum, and it was only on secondaries. Please don't accuse me of things I am not doing, and quickly jump to irrational conclusions. Please have a little patience with me, I'm still trying to learn stalkers, and I am making an effort to make the best stalker I can.
PPS: I appreciate your help, and at the very least I know now to focus on secondaries with defense bonuses. What about energy aura, though? Is super reflexes or ninjitsu my best bets? -
Quote:My current stalker is dual blade/super reflexes. Is that acceptable? There really aren't any bad primaries, but some are more AoE capable than others. KM, elec, and spines are usually better off with AoE due to spines and elec having more than one aoe and KM because it's aoe has a 100% chance of crit from hide. Secondaries, most will say nin, SR, or WP, and to a lesser extent regen.
I don't know much about StJ, and Ice is still kinda new, I don't know much there. But because of hide, and AS being interruptible, I would suggest you go with a defense based secondary. Resists and stalkers are supposed to not go well together, though I admittedly never tried it. -
Quote:I can't tell how serious you are. (I'm very gullible, I guess.) If you're serious please give me some reasoning I can work with and understand. I don't want to do something just because you said it's good... no offense.Spines/Regen.
It's godly. nothing else compares.
Honest.
honestly honest that I'm not not not being honest about being honest.
Basically I've heard all sorts of different stories. Most people compliment ninjitsu as a secondary, however.
I've never seen anyone mention ninja, good or bad. I've heard one person say they loved kinetic combat, another who loved energy. You're the first I've seen mention spines or regen, so I get the feeling you're mocking me. (If so, I don't appreciate it. If you're serious, please explain this to me because I'm interested in how they work. I understand toxic damage is very desirable.) So... I am still at a loss.
I don't want to do claws, since it's too similar to night widows, and I don't want to do kinetic melee. My current stalker is dual blades(/super reflexes) but everyone is telling me how terrible it is. That's not my experience, but I'm level 20, not level 50.
I made a gravity dominator once, so I want to make sure I'm making the right choices before I commit. -
Quote:Great, I was leaning towards invulnerability, so I am very happy it would work!OK, here are some guesses with Street Justice. I assume it's a smashy smashy set like Martial Arts or Super Strength with a mishmash of secondary effects that provide a lot less mitigation than you might hope. I'm going to assume it's a low-mitigation primary. I also assume it has no heal?
While leveling at least, some secondaries are happier with some mitigation or a heal from your primary. You're not really getting that, so for leveling purposes, you may want to limit yourself to secondaries that provide a more complete package.
In that regard, I think Willpower or maybe Energy Aura would be best, at least for survivability. Then there are a bunch of secondaries that would like a heal, but greens are usually sufficient, and you can always pick up aid self. I'd put Super Reflexes, Shield Defense and Invulnerability in that boat, and would probably pick Shield Defense to boost your damage, and because Shield Charge is also smashy, so is consistent in that way. Then there are secondaries that I think do best with decent mitigation from your primary, which is something you don't (?) have a lot of, so these are the ones I'd be more cautious about choosing - Dark Armor, Electric Armor, Fiery Aura and Regeneration.
As I said, I don't have any experience with Street Justice, and I also haven't studied Energy Aura, so take my recommendations (particularly for the Street Justice/Energy Aura combo) with a grain of salt. A really big grain of salt. Maybe a salt lick. Maybe a "why am I even posting" sized salt lick. -
Quote:I heard this as well. Let me be more specific:Vague question is vague....
Ok, WTF does 'best' mean, TO YOU.
Do you want MOAR DAMAGE? Fire aura.
Do you want to live through the sky falling on you? Invuln.
Do you want to be the freakin' energizer bunny and never ever stop? Willpower.
Do you want to be OH SO FAST? Electric armor.
Do you want to be the delicate but deadly king of the battlefield? Super Reflexes.
Etc, etc, etc.
There is no 'best.' There are only 'good' at various different things.
Which is best with Street Justice? And why? You answered my question quite well. And are there any that are flat about bad and avoid, or at least worse than the rest?
I mostly just want to make sure I choose a good secondary. I have chosen bad powersets in the past and I don't want to make that mistake today. -
What are the best secondary powersets for scrappers? And why? Thank you for your time!
If you want to list which ones to avoid, that also works. -
I've looked every for information but I can't find any. So what are the best primary and secondary powersets for stalkers? And why?
If there are more than one, please list them all. If you want to list which ones to avoid, that also works.
Thank you for your time! -
I'm glad it's fixed for new Arachnos Widows, but what about those of us that already created them? I'm not interested in rerolling my widow... I hope they don't plan on putting this off now that they fixed it for new characters.
-
I am just curious. Do they get at least 12?
-
Another patch, and still this isn't fixed. *sigh*
Is it even listed in the known issues? -
Quote:At worst, it's not entirely unreasonable that they reset all SOA's costumes from 2 to whatever to being the generic character with the same body type and build as the first, and provide free tailor tokens. Those that aren't broken would be annoyed, yes (and this would negatively impact my soldier, but I'm okay with that), but it would not be as bad as sitting here unable to do anything.I don't, but I've learned to live with having a Ranma-esque transgender Widow at this point. The female Widow is the traditional Widow outfit, the male is a new costume I made out of CoT, Valkyrie, and Superscience.
It's still a huge bug and should be on the known issues list. Support tells me they are working on a fix, but I can't, for the life of me, think how they will go and retroactively adjust dozens of Widow's genders with a script or a bug fix.
At best, they could reset anyone who has these requirements:
1. Doesn't have the super tailor.
2. Has at least 2 costume slots unlocked.
3. Has any costume slots that are not the same body type/scale as the first.
And with these 3 simple requirements, reset all additional costumes (bugged or not) and provide free tailor sessions to fix them. Even if they don't need the tailor sessions, consider it a gift for having to put up with this. They might even be able to only focus on the bugged ones... but I don't think anyone has that issue.
I'm not saying this would be 'easy' to fix, but it's absolutely feasible.
If they wanted to do their customers right on an exceptionally thoughtful level, they could even give Arachnos Widows and Soldiers free super tailor access (only for those characters) until this problem is adequately solved. At that time, any costumes that didn't apply to the above requirements would be reset.
For now, I am simply using only the Arachnos uniform. I'm not going to have a transgender character just because NCSoft won't fix this in a timely manner. I'm okay with the uniform, but that doesn't mean I'm content or happy or accepting this. I'm just putting up with it for now.
PS: I would recommend simply making the additional costumes an entirely different character. Personally I don't care enough to do this, but you might!
PPS: I forget if you can alter scales without super tailor... maybe it's just height. If that's the case, please interpret my post appropriately. -
Quote:I'm assuming you have the super tailor. If I had the super tailor this wouldn't be an issue... this solution didn't work for me, needless to say.A friend and I both encountered this a couple of nights ago when we were running our female widow and female soldier together. The costume slot unlocked during Brick's arc was indeed set to the generic male model. However, we found that if we attempted to load our saved Arachnos costumes and then check "Attempt to Fix" it did a passable job of fixing. It did not get the face or hair right and of course, could not copy the costume, but it did change the gender to female and set the scales appropriately, so we were able to work with that.
I'm pretty annoyed that this hasn't been fixed yet. You'd think an issue this critical for widows would have a higher priority... apparently not. I wonder how long this will take to fix? I mean, they could at least make a temporary fix and try to give SoA's temporary Super Tailor access until they fix the issue, then force all non-gender appropriate costumes to be reset for players without the super tailor unlocked (and scales reset also) when they fix it for real.
Hopefully they will fix this soon, one way or another... I don't want to wait months just to have an alternative costume. -
I'm having this problem too, and I made my widow over a year ago. However, I never leveled my widow past level 10, and unlocked the costume after the issue was released.
I received the same 'we're looking into it, it will be fixed in a future patch, and there is absolutely nothing we can do for you' sort of response though. I'm disappointed, but at least I like the default widow uniform.
I refuse to buy the super tailor to fix this, however. -
I think it's possible they are waiting until all issues are solved before doing anything. They might give us a lot of paragon points or something when all is said and done (maybe 5-10 dollars worth?). But this is just pure speculation, it's just as likely if not more so they'll do nothing.
