I likey I likey a lot!
Quote:That is if players pick the tier 9 power. I for one NEVER EVER EVER pick them, the crash is just too ridiculous IMO. I don't even use it as a mule.I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm honestly curious at how much extra defense you think we would need in those situations and why we can't counter it by using our tier 9 or popping a few purples. I know that I carry a few for those situations, even though all my positional defense is above 50 and I found room in my for I slotted elude for when it really hits the fan. -

Quote:Calling something nerf-herding is a way for you to not engage in a dialogue. People most hurt by calls for nerfing a set or power are those who have spent a lot of time or energy exploiting a game balance issue. Look at all the replies in threads which essentially admit as much.
Game balance issues lead to problems in the game. I think the harm they do is worse.
1. They reduce the content of the game to a trivial exercise instead of a challenging story.
2. They make players on teams which are not running "uber" sets useless or pretty superfluous.
3. They create a situation in the game where the devs have to engage in a constant war of escalation in order to stay ahead of the balance issues. Put in IOs which allow a player to reach high levels of defense on a non-defensive toon so you have to add mobs which can easily bypass those increased levels of defense (think Incarnates). Add a special mob to a villain group which will counter their use as a farm because you (the devs) allowed such high levels of resistance that players can easily overcome the damage (think of Super Stunners).
I know some might think that I am spouting a bunch of crap, and that is their right. I only hope that those with the power to make changes in the game are the ones who look at it with more reasoned eyes.
p.s. I know that Incarnates were added to the game to provide an end-game which largely didn't exist in this game before Incarnates. It is a vast improvement over the previous end game encounter, the Hamidon raid. At least now the powers you chose matter in the result.
Do I think you're spewing crap? No. I think you're expressing an opinion albeit one that I don't happen to agree with.
Here's the thing I don't understand about the argument for "rebalancing" Kinetics, there are plenty of sets out there capable of soloing AVs and soloing TFs, none of them to my knowledge has ever been a Kin. Why not argue to nerf Domination? I mean a perma Dom will outshine a Kin anything anyday.
Also take into consideration that not everyone has these uber builds you speak of, and while here on the forums players swap high end build ideas, ways to make inf etc; a large majority of players aren't on the forums and many of them are casual (middle ground), not hardcore, and those are the ones the game needs to be balanced against. -

Quote:WOW. Lets start at #1.
#1 You need to hit. Thats undeniable. Many (but not all) debuffs in the game require to hit checks.
#2 If the target dies you still get your 40%. 40% is good especially on a perma capable damage buff.
#3 Many if not all debuffs in the game generate aggro. Put a snow-storm on someone, put a tar patch under their feet and they are gonna go after you. I can only think of one debuff in the game which generates no aggro (the one in the Bane Spider set).
#4 Kins get serious amounts of -damage. This is not as good as getting additional defense but then again it isn't nothing. If you fought even level mobs, the -damage portion of Fulcrum Shift alone would dwarf the strength of the shields offered by Sonic Resonance. Also don't forget that healing is mitigation and the -end in Transference can seriously neuter a boss.
#5 See my previous posts about the radius. 30ft for the debuff, 20 ft for the buff. Not too shabby.
#1 Yes many de/buffs require a to hit but many staple powers such as Rad Infection, Envervating Field and Darkest Night don't and they all have significant debuffs. Lightning Storm even has higher accuracy and can be made perma
#2 You're assuming everyone has perma damage cap capable toons and last I read powers were not made with the exceptional high end builds in mind
#3 Those sets all have other forms of damage mitigation there by increasing their survivability. I can throw a tar patch on one mob, pull another with DN and stand in the middle of them and not flinch. Try using FS on a mob of even 5 NPCs solo.
#4 -End on NPC is a joke. You might stop them from attacking for a few seconds, but they don't need the same endurance you need to use their powers so unless you can stack -end I don't think it's quite as useful, but that's just an opinion. Transfusion is nice but unlike Twilight Grasp you need to be within 20' of the target, in many cases that could be dangerously close. Also the Sonic shields can be enhanced, the -Dam of a Kin can not. Sonic also gives a lot of -Res, -To Hit and -Def
Quote:I agree that the mitigation from kin is less than that of other sets, but it is not nothing. In fact most debuff sets suffer greatly in this game due to the scaling of powers based on the level of the enemy. The same can be said of Dark Miasma, Poison, and dare I say it, Rad. If you fight +3, +4, or +5 mobs then most of what you do with debuffs is ruined by the scaling. -
Quote:There are a host of "will not" or never gonna happen things that are currently in game.Problem is, the four animations for Demons took as much work as an entire powerset. So unless you were willing to wait double the time, or pay extra, whipe melee/assault will not happen.
Secondary builds were seen as impossible a few years ago. Going F2P was unheard of. The idea of player created missions were laughed at, morphing from male to female couldn't be done. Once you out leveled content you couldn't go back on your own. And an inherent Fitness was "game breaking" and would never see the light of day.
Heck just about two weeks ago in a thread players said Recipe bonuses would never be changed and cited things such as the Cottage Rule to back their claims and look at I24. Oh and don't forget pool power customizations were once not an option.
Point is, when the players speak the dev team here does an amazing job of making it happen.
Whips will happen mark my words and I wouldn't doubt if it happens in the next year. -
-
If you look at the track record of the dev team and consider some of the whip assets are already in game; I'm about 110% sure that Whips will be coming. The only thing I'm not sure of is if it will be Melee, Assault or a combo of both like we are seeing with the Martial set.
And judging off the last few sets I know there will be a new mechanic for it, so we can help the devs out by coming up with a suitable one now.
-
Next thing you know people will be saying Rad and Dark are overpowered and needs re-balancing because of their -To Hit, -Res and healing centered around the caster.

Quote:I missed that in the notes, must have happened between the SB/ID changes when all my Kins were retired. I haven't noticed the change since I started playing them again.Only in the sense that, if the target dies, you have nothing to punch with your MASSIVE DAMAGE BOOST. Except the other dude that didn't die.
A while ago, they fixed it so that enemy-targeted heals and buffs still heal and buff if the enemy dies before the power completes, as long as the power successfully targets them (ie, the enemy isn't dead before casting), and the to hit roll succeeds.
Also the power does not work on shifted foes much like Haunt which makes fighting Carnies a PITA. -
At the moment of Ascension your toon will be ported over to the Aion servers...
-
I had a similar issue awhile back. Turned out to be a malfunctioning CPU fan.
-
That feature along with the "show last enemy group" is inconsistent at best.
-
Quote:I must not be "most" kin players because FS is no where near overpowered.I'm sure most kinetics users would agree that fulcrum shift is a bit, umm, overpowered.
#1 It needs to hit it's target
#2 If the target dies you waste it
#3 It potentially draws tons of aggro on the caster
#4 Kins have very little other damage mitigation
#5 You must be in the radius for it to take effect
Also FS is best against large groups which teams cut through easily anyway and is less desirable against single targets such as AVs . I can think of east 3 sets that outshine Kins in this respect.
Also as far as increasing recharge times goes for FS or any other powers in Kinetics... stop it. It's KINETICS It's supposed to be fast!
On behalf of my 5 Kins, Leave FS alone! -
I might have to add this to my list along with Juan of the Dead...

Quote:Not sure where you got "complaining" from me stating I don't have enough time versus the amount of toon I have. But just a little FYI, most of my 50s have been transferred over to Virtue months ago.Well if time is the only issue, then there is an efficient workaround that chicken pox helped me discover. So while I was recovering I found myself wanting to play and maybe socialize a bit at all hours of day or night. Now we all love our dear home server here, but we also know it's a low population server. That's even more pronounced at 3 am on redside.
So I realized I had moved a 50 over to virtue to help a friend prior and discovered they ran BAF and Lam 24/7. Soooo many runs.. Then we got the ability to email ourselves threads and now all but my newest 50 have all non-hybrid slots unlocked and I still have over 400 threads unclaimed. If I want them to have level shifts, then all I need do is run iTrials on Vic until a rare or very rare drops for whatever tree I want.
TLR version. For time efficiency, stockpile threads by whatever means is convenient. Time spent complaining or wishing for a magic wand is time you could be spending getting results.
Anyhow...
I was able to get 66.2% recharge from using level 50 Annihilation's. I am more than pleased. -
-
Quote:I don't count those because you can also count put them in other powers which still puts all other sets as still having more options. Also they aren't as obtainable as normal drops. Which for me is why Posi's Blast was the only set worth slotting in TAoE powers unless I splurged for Ragnarok's. I've used Detonation once on my Fire/Dark Corruptor, because Posi's Blasts were too expensive for me at the time. I'd get better use out of regular IO's but hopefully a set like Detonation will get changes to 4 of the 5 bonuses, and the addition of this set will make the options much better.Technically 4 right? The new TAoE set, ATO sets 1 and 2, and the Overwhelming force set. I know those three are not specifically TAoE, but they can be slotted in those powers which at least gives more options!
I also am curious as to the bonuses and the inherent recharge within the set itself. I think the max you can get on the normal sets is 26ish%? That's not enough IMO; at least not when you can get over 50% in the regular Ranged damage sets. Crosses fingers and hopes to get 35-40% A guy can dream can't he?
Time my friend... time. Not enough of it and too many toons... -
One new TAoE set, I'm still not changing my sig... but I'm curious to see what the bonuses for it will be.
Glad to see a couple of weeks ago I asked that some set bonuses be looked at and replaced like debt protection and now it's going to happen.
And while I'm happy to see more Lore pets added, they really need to come up with a way to respec Incarnate abilities.
And on a side note, was destroying Praetoria the devs way of saying "Yeah we f'ed up with Gold side"? -
Quote:Can I claim just a teeny bit of bragging rights in relation to these changes? I have long-standing suggestion threads on these specific topics:
I think you most certainly can!
I recall asking about new TAoE's on Freedom Fridays and being told there were no plans on adding anymore. I guess I now know how useful FF are/were... -
I guess I need to change my sig. even if it's just one more TAoE set...
Also just last week I complained about the debt reduction bonuses...
Good job! -
This has been bugging me for the longest! Thanks!

Th easiest way to make Influence/Infamy IMO is through the market, selling lucky drops as you get them. If your account is able to use the IO system I'd suggest skipping SOs and DOs as you'll out level them fairly quickly. You might even find some IOs for cheap on the market.
You can also run task forces and use the merits rewarded to either roll random recipes to sell or outright purchase ones you either need or are in high demand in the market. -
You saw a Nicholas Cage movie and expected it to be good... shame on you. Just be glad you didn't pay box office price to see it...

I think the keys in creating a door monster as you put it are:
Lots of AoE damage
Ability to snare
Lots of recharge for the above
I could only open the second build and it looks like you hit the nail on the head. The first one kept giving me errors.
Personally I've found my Fire/Dark corruptor's combination of Tar Patch, RoF, and Fire Ball to be quite nice.
I've also had lots of door sitting success with my two traps toons. I use Posion Trap and Caltrops to snare/hold, I also drop Acid Mortar (it has a Devestation hold proc) for added -Res. Then it's just a matter of dropping as many Trip Mines as possible so I try to get it's recharge under 9 seconds.
