I can't help with the Ice/Jack question but....

I have an earth/storm that is lvl 32 atm. I like all the powers in Earth Control's set; however, the PBAoE sleep (salt crystals?) is not that great/much use (from my experience). Quicksand does a good defense debuff for all mobs that are in the area. Earthquake also does -def to mobs (as well as -tohit). Local_Man has an Earth/Rad guide and I read most of it, and would agree that if you do go with Earth/Storm, you could do Earthquake + Freezing Rain and wouldn't need/shouldn't use the AoE immob because then mobs will be able to retaliate against you instead of flopping around. But I still do it (depends on the team/whatever)...

Earth/Storm can be really fun (and graphically/audio instensive though )

Okay, for those that are interested, would you want/be able to do a 2am EST run (to get Luminara in) possibly looking at next Saturday, the 20th?

If not 2 am, would Saturday the 20th at any specific time be better for some (afternoon, night?)?

Earth/Storm or Plant/Storm Controller(s) are both good...

Electrical Melee (for Brutes or Stalkers) primarily for Lightning Rod...

I've said it before, if we could mix and match powers, I'd so make a toon with Lightning Storm and Lightning Rod! Love those two powers...

Others have already mentioned other good sets as well.

hehe okay...I kind of wanted to bring my Bane out last Friday but didn't...and he has 90% melee attacks but has a range attack or two and pets (which are ranged attacks primarily it seems). So might bring him out for 1 run

Hmmm, I'm looking at the screenshots during this timeframe and I'm surprised a bit now. There was a Stone Armor tanker whose name is Sir Goral and another defender whose name is Golden Mind (along with myself Kin/Rad and my friend a Katana/Regen (not sure of secondary on his char)).

I remember doing a Synapse TF with my friend (only the 2 of us) hoping that we could defeat the final AV at the end. Got to him but we couldn't do it. So the next time we played we invited a random person (turns out to be Golden Ace's tanker) and we got to the AV and something happened (I got hit a lot by the AV or something) and I was all like, "RUN!" and kept hitting the F6 key to run...but then noticed that Golden Ace's tanker was still alive and wayling on the Clockwork King....and I was like, "oh nm..." and we won
Still have the pictures of me saying "Run!" and then pictures of GA's tanker beating on the CK.

I have a lvl 50 Storm/Psy defender. He was made a long, long time ago...the original intent for him was to get all 3 'tornado' powers (Tornado, Psionic Tornado and Whirlwind from the Speed power pool).

This toon was almost always in debt (only a few times/levels where he wasn't in debt)...granted it's mainly cause I kept aggro'ing mobs like I would if I had my Kin/Rad (sometimes forget I couldn't heal myself ).

A nice synergy was the combo of Freezing Rain and Psionic Tornado; most, if not all, mobs got knocked down with that combo.

It was hard to solo him in the later levels (with all the psy resist on robots/carnies) but he was/is a good teammate. One problem I always had was with endurance. Granted I was playing this guy with all SOs (before IOs came out; in fact this guy still has all SOs in him ) so with all the ways to get better endurance reduction(s) it might not be a huge issue.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I took the Elec. Mastery APP/Epic Power Pool for the end. drain/+end for myself.

And a side note, it was funny seeing all the storm/psys getting pl'ed for pvp purposes when the combo of Whirlwind + Hurricane was being used I felt like an old(er) person, "I had this combo first before it was 'ub3r'!"

I always liked/thought of # 2. Wish there was some 'random' NPC that came up to you to give you a random mission (if you accept it)....or something like that.

And instead of 'epic' travel powers, just give us a power like the Oro portal power or the mission teleporter power that allows us to teleport to all zones...the recharge should be like 5 mins just like Oro portal Give us new travel powers/power pools

The reason that we don't like the idea is twofold:

1) Unlike you, the OP wanted to FORCE people to retire their level 50s. There was no choice to. I think a choice would be a welcome idea. But a forceful retirement is NOT a good idea.

2) The reasoning behind the OP was faulty. The reason the OP gave was to prevent farming and so that more people would play the lower-level characters. We correctly pointed out that it would do neither of those two things.

Sounds optional to me. Either way I think the biggest issue with what the OP said was what you said in your 2nd point. His assumptions that it would stop farming/what have ya.

I've only read the first page here but I'm surprised at how many people don't like this idea. I, for one, like the idea.

To be honest, all my lvl 50 chars are just sitting there...doing nothing; well except for EI, he's "farming" the day job badges (and working on other badges ).

I think there should be like what you said, a "Hall of Heroes" (or Villains). This mission/arc has to be done alone and if you complete it, you get a statue made in the image of your char. that you completed it with (complete with bio/pics/whatever else is possible/wanted). I'd actually go as far as to say, if you failed the char. is deleted (or maybe at least 'banned'/couldn't login with it for x amount of time). And if you failed, maybe have a book/computer/something in the Hall of Heroes/Villains about the people who tried to do x mission/arc and failed. It would act like a warning I guess, a warning of, "the greatest glory is the hardest to achieve." type of thing.

Obviously this would be an option for any lvl 50....if you wanted to keep your 50s and have them gather dust and/or just play with them then fine but if you wanted to do the "end game content" or whatever you want to call it then you could do the mission/arc.

This mission/arc would obviously have to have a whole lot of work put into it and be varied between ATs/powersets. Maybe, let's say, an Emp/Sonic Defender would have a mission/arc to save people/heal them before x time or just defeat x boss while keeping y person alive. Whereas a Spines/DA Scrapper would have a different type of mission...basically the mission/arc would cater to the powersets (and not only on AT since 1 defender could do way less or more than another defender). Now it wouldn't be perfect, because nothing is, but I think it could work.
