  1. the idea is for you to be able to see the blue screen texts

The computer will still stop everything, you'll still "crash" but the computer will not reboot until you press a key or the reset button. so you have time to take the info down from the BSOD which in return can help us find the root cause of the problem and help you.

Now, from a numbers standpoint, I can imagine it's towards the bottom of the list, but so far, i havn't really been frustrated, which is how a number of people refer to the set.

As for the topic at hand, My vote is still for dm/elec. What should be kept in mind is the dmg of lightening field powered by soul drain. Now, ElectroHawk pointed out that Soul Drain wasn't up enough to make a difference, but from my experience, a downtime of less than 60 seconds with moderate slotting leaves you buffed for a substantial amount of time.

The siphon life excerpt actually got me thinking, and to be honest, it seems like it either crits or misses, so ill leave that alone.

A tad off topic, but what game is your avatar from ElectroHawk? I feel like ive seen it before but cant put my finger on it.

As I said in the quote you use., my dm/elec was built when CoV came out so only on SO's. When I IO'd it out, I really didn't have the knowledge I have now so I probably screwed it up pretty bad (which would explain my lack of interest for it).

I might take a second look at it now that I have more experience with /elec.

As for the Avatar... the answer is in the signature LOL

    LOL What did you do?

On a side note, where did you get that info? I never saw info on my rep anywhere or know when someone rate a post ...
  5. I had a dm/ela brute that I lvled to 50 and Io'ed out but after a while I just got tired and stripped him and deleted it. I rerolled an elec/elec since and wouldn't look back. (Disclaimer: the toon was build when CoV came out, The IO, when they first came out so my slotting probably sucked. YMMV (and probably will) )

Me reasons are simple: the lack of AoE damage in DM makes killing mobs seriously long, the constant repositioning for the cones gets annoying. the +end AoE doesn't recharge fast and barely do any damage. The +dam AoE doesn't recharge fast enough to really make a difference

The only things I liked was the single target damage, siphon life (when it hits and it never does when you need it to...) and the +dam AoE.

I'm currently leveling my first /DA so I won't comment on that since I don't know the set.

I love /elec, I think it offers a lot to almost any build, +heal, -end consumption, +rech, +end, good resist numbers. You can't really go wrong.
  6. what is the shortcut you are using?

Are you Launching the game from the cohupdater.exe (not a shortcut the actual "exe" that is on your desktop? or the "Shortcut to City of hero" that was created on said desktop?

If it's the updater on the desktop then that is your problem. The updater looks at the file beside him and see that there is not CoH file so it assumes you haven't downloaded the game. Go into the game folder and find the CoHupdater.exe, make a shortcut to it on your desktop and launch the game. It should work.

You can also try from the start menu.
  7. I've been looking around have haven't found any topic on rad/kin combo. I never played Rad/ and I thought a corrupter would be a good place to start one.

My problem is that i'm not sure which secondary would go well with it. I was thinking /Kin since the def debuff of Rad would make most of my kin accuracy check easier and the +dmg in FS is just simply amazing . But then I thought that /Dark -resist, -dmg would also help a lot and the +def of shadow fall would allow me to reach the defense soft-cap faster.

So my question is which would be the "best" combo if i'm planning to primarily solo, with occasional SF?

I've played kin before and currently have a lvl 30 dark MM but i'm not sure how well Rad would be paired with them. If another secondary is better let me know also

Sorry I should ave been more specific. In my case pressing both button fix the issue since the game thinks both my button are pressed. so pressing them again, "unlocks" them.

It also happened that I would start turning in one direction constantly, pressing the key to turn in that other direction would make me stop spinning but releasing said key would make me start spinning again. By pressing the key to turn in the same direction the game "unlock" itself.

So in short, find the key or combination of key that are "locked" and press it again. If you are moving forward try both button or the forward key.

It might sound counter-intuitive since you want to stop moving forward so why would you press the forward key???.. but it seems to work.

for the security: I did mentioned to do it only if you trust yourself enough

And my solution works for every program and only has to be done once
  11. OR, you can just disable the UAC completely if you trust yourself (and anyone else using the computer) to not do anything stupid...

IIRC it is based of which side the team leader is on. A brute leading the LGTF will trigger an invasion on red side and vice versa.

Just click both mouse button at the same time. It happens to me on occasion also.

As for the "a" deleting message it does sound like a stuck ctrl key.

  18. It means that once the transfer is completed you can't "undo" it. However, you can buy a second server transfer at a later time and bring it back You just can't say "damn that's not where I wanted it to go, cancel the transfer"
  19. Welcome to the game

As you progress in the game you'll be able to unlock the Travel power (available at lvl 14 if you have the prerequisite) they are: fly, super jump, super speed and teleport. This will make your travel time shorter by a lot.

Also, if you join a super group you will probably have access to the zone teleporter. (I say probably because not every SG has them or all of them). These will be inside your SG base and allow you to teleport to any zone.

There are other perks that can make your travel faster and thus the game more enjoyable:
The Ouroboros portal (available at lvl25 IIRC): gives you access to the Ouroboros zone where you can do mission you missed from other contacts and also teleport to multiple zones.

The mission transporter: allows you to teleport directly to the mission door from anywhere in the city (on a 1h recharge timer), this is part of the Mac special edition.

The Wentworth transporter: this will allow you to teleport to any Wentworth office (market) form any zone. It is gained by logging out at the market. Each day logged out will give you 1 charge to the power. After 21 days you will get the "Day job" which recharges your charge faster to a maximum of 10.

This is all FYI, you don't need all of it and really shouldn't think they are required or expected by your team. Some are for higher level so don't worry about them for now. There is a great source of information on Paragon wiki

Have fun and take your time to learn the game, if you need help don't be afraid to ask, we got a great community that just loves to help (sometimes maybe too much lol)

I was under the impression that the healing nictus had an auto-hit heal. If thats the case no matter how much +def or -tohit you stack it will still heal A LOT... Now I am a bot/ff so if it's not an auto-hit then I have no problem
  21. I think the heal nictus is going to be the main problem of an all MM ITF.. but I'm seriously thinking of trying that on my server...

    Bug in RV

there was a similar bug in the Hollow a year or 2 ago where you could go under the map and attack mobs from under the map without risk of getting hit unless you were too close to the limits of the ground.
  23. i'd say start with the Dev choice. you can't really go wrong with those.
