  1. Well, what would be great is if the channel has success... enough so that it can then start PICKING UP the GOOD shows that the other channels are dropping!
Also... there will always be new shows that people don't want to see canceled to air on this channel.

Really, Second Chance just seems like a great name to me.

I hardly watch enough tv to offer any show suggestions though...

Something tells me that I'd end up watching SC though!

I often think that such a thing would be very cool.

Again, my first reply wasn't intended to be any shoot down of your post or anything. I was just honestly surprised that people still feel it is that bad.
All our mileages do vary though... And maybe I've been a bit lucky with it lately!

I do know that my robots are quite annoying once I start traveling through the cities/zones.

Three times this has happened so far!
Not that I mind doing my part and all... But... meh... Their schedule doesn't match mine so well! And I'd rather not go than sit around in a room full of people waiting to not be called (as the majority of people report around here in NY).
  4. This is sort of strange to me, as I've found NPCs to be pretty easy to lead out these days.

It used to drive me nuts, but nowadays it is rare for them to get stuck or fall behind (for me and my experiences).

I mean, I don't race through with travel powers on. Hover and/or Sprint seem acceptable to most NPCs.
Like I said, it used to be crazy and frustrating, but... I don't know... It seems like it is vastly improved if not perfectly fine now.

The following is NOT anything AGAINST making changes or improving NPC escort/follow pathing:
Also, sometimes I think that it's rather acceptable that either A) a rescued NPC needs you to slow down a bit to lead them out or B) a reluctant hostage begrudgingly moves along at a slow pace.

For a while now, I find myself looking and thinking that I may need to slow down or might lose them around this or that bend... but I never do.

I do try and be deliberate and mindful with my movements as I lead NPCs out.
If i am approaching a series of pipes in the sewers or multiple turns, I may pause here and there and I try and keep straight LOS between the NPC and I through multiple doorways/turns/slight bends and such.
  5. HAHAHAHA...

    Oh wait...

I'm being tried in court on those days...

  6. No, you're not missing a thing, haha! Sounds like you've got it right and handled that well.
It is really odd when someone insists on such things (sometimes even when they're good strategies -which, these were not- when they're not at all necessary, they're still odd)!
    Welcome back!!

    Wisps aura gone?

And, for whatever it is worth, I just checked and I still have the Wisps Aura as an option for new characters.

Only one of my Incarnates is soft-capped (my SR scrapper, obviously), and None are incarnate soft-capped (which are two different things: the soft cap is at about 45% defense, the incarnate soft cap is at about 59% defense due to the fact that some kinds of praetorians in the trials have higher base tohit).

My main - a blaster by the way - is a Master of Apex, Master of Tin Mage, Master of Lambda, Master of BAF, and one badge away from being a Master of Keyes. She would have to take a taxi to reach the same zip code as the soft cap. So welcome to the noobs without high defense club. What we lack in evasion we tend to make up in kicking *** and ripping badges from the cold dead hands of Praetorians.

Besides, every single trial has a hospital inside it with a contact that sells inspirations. Even if high defense was necessary, and its not although it can be useful, even the lowliest blaster can fill their tray with lucks in the hospital if they die and be basically Eluded for a high percentage of the trial (even if your defense is zero, using five at a time would place you at the incarnate soft cap and you can do that for four straight minutes: one death and you can stock up again and be Eluded for another four minutes even if you get no insp drops at all, and you'll likely get some; the trials tend to last less than twenty).

And even if you die who cares (unless you're going for a badge that requires not dying) because you have to be level 50 to participate in the trials anyway. Its not like it will low your progress to 51 by much: you die, you go to hospital, you stock up on insps, you come back out, you shoot stuff in the face again. Its like the worst the Praetorians can do to you is Teleport Foe you to the hospital. Big deal: that doesn't even break a nail.

    Oh, and welcome back.
    !!!!
    Haha!
My name is the Electric-Knight (not really) and I approve of this message (really!).

    P.S.
I am also a Blaster who would need to take three trains, two taxis, a puddle jumper and a bus to get into the soft-capped defense neighborhood.

    Wisps aura gone?

Yeah, I've definitely had the Wisp Aura as an option on new characters since they stopped that whole promotion period, so... I'm pretty sure that it is granted to the account... and it not showing up is due to some other weirdness (very possibly the account store).

    We'll soon find out... (hopefully!!).
  10. Oh man...

If you restructure things to NOT include Level Pacts... Would the (hypothetical) reintroduction of Level Pacts force a restart as well?

And this is indeed all hallucinatory illusions, Steelclaw...
Please send all of your money to Electric-Knight in order to reenter reality (where the CoH developers work within the rules of your existing tournament!).
  11. Wow, so sorry you got that as a welcome back and first foray into the Incarnate Trials!!
Yeah, absolutely untrue and not needed on ANY AT... never mind a Blaster, good grief, haha!
Anyway, yep, get back out there and forget about that nonsense!

Welcome back and I hope you enjoy it!!!

    Agreed.
And I've seen some people mention similar ideas before and it has made me consider doing something along these lines, but I never have.

I've heard of a Blaster AR/Dev going for it, mostly just using the devices, hehe.

Anyway, it's great to see that this thread still lives. Thanks again for all your thoughts and ideas. I'll do my best to drop by more frequently!
No apologies needed, but thanks anyway! Knowing you all read this stuff and seeing your great replies is just great!
Besides, you've had important movie watching to do in your free time...

I actually have a request that I've wanted since I started playing this game.
I finally mentioned it in a thread somewhat recently and I was very surprised to see that I was far from the only person that desired this.

It's about removing effects though (which I sometimes feel sad about asking FX artists about!!):

The floating, circling symbols that appear from using inspirations and certain power effects (The purple shields for defense buffs, the red blood-like drops for damage, the yellow reticules for accuracy buffs, and so on... including those visuals from the Leadership Power Pools)...
We hateses them!! They burn!! Nasty, nasty symbolses... ruin screenshots... ruin nice immersionses... we hateses them! Purple shields stole my preciousss...

Ahem... Hehe, seriously though, I've always felt like those effects just ruin my visual immersion in this game.
Everything looks so damn great and I enjoy playing and losing myself in this game. All the effects are there from the powers themselves, visually represented quite well... but then these damn floating, spinning icons dance around... I would so very much love an option to shut them off on my client.
I don't need to see them, I keep an eye on the icons under my health bar (nice and out of the way, to be checked peripherally).
And they ruin what could be wonderful screenshots... Can't tell you how many times I try and grab a nice action screenshot just for it to look lame because of a bunch of floating symbols around all of our characters because someone has Leadership Powers or because the battle was so tough we popped a bunch of inspirations, and so on and so forth...

Okay, did I go on too much about this, hehe?

I'll just add that I avoid using inspirations because of those effects! I delete them and/or combine them to make greens and blues, ones that don't leave symbols dancing around my character!

I love effects and art and want to offer you fun ideas for more fun and cool effects... but, seriously, this is something I would absolutely LOVE to... not see!

Bah... haha, I realize this is more of a coding concern, but... I figured your department may have an interest and/or be an influence in the matter.

    Thanks!

As for PAX... I was hoping we might see a big reveal of back items coming.
I'm expecting them to have a bunch of stuff hitting the store that we have not yet seen... And I figured they might reveal a bunch (if not all) of it.

Not complaining or anything... Just a little eager!
  16. I must say that I envy you Unionversers... And I really need to make a bit of effort to pop over and get to be a part of it all.

That said, OOC communication is such a valuable thing.
More so, understanding and recognizing exactly what Spectral_Ent said about the different themes and genres of each individual character.

Sometimes my comical character is in a Punisher story... sometimes Punisher is in a comical story... Sometimes, we can deftly avoid things that would be too incongruous for anyone's fun.

    This is all good stuff.
Mistakes will happen, arguments will erupt... in the end, understanding and well-intended efforts will allow the fun to continue!

    Pardon my brief interruption!

[league] PuG Member Frank: I've always found it better to divide by Head, Body and Legs, then all three teams move to auras and back options!

[league] PuG Member Joe: Can I be on the head team?

[league] PuG Member Al: Wait... who selected Trench Coat??

[league] League Leader: Ack, Boot Team, that color does NOT match our hat!!

[league] PuG Member Betty: Wait who has auras? OMG turn the flies aura off!

[league] League Leader: IMPORTANT!! Please STOP hitting the Match Colors button!!!

Do we really need another thread filled with this "discussion" about varied aspects of game-play for Incarnate content/rewards?

    Good news:
Posi said they're aware and are apparently intending to deliver!

People can try and put words into others mouths and they can try and explain why things must be the way they must be and people can continue to repeat the things they've already said in other threads...

I'll just say that I found Luke Skywalker taking on Darth Vader and the Emperor pretty epic.
The large space battle was epic too!

The battles on the fields of Gondor are epic.
Hey... Frodo and Sam vs. Shellob is pretty darn epic as well!

    What do you know...

To address some things (including reiteration on that which Positron stated above):

    - The Signature Story Arc rewards are not intended to be the solo Incarnate Path. The rewards are there to add even more value (on top of amazing story, unique maps, basically a ton of cool stuff) to SSA's. These missions are repeatable, fun, and a great reason to be a VIP Subscriber.

    - We've been gathering your feedback about the Barbarian armor set and will of course pass it along to the art team.

    - I completely understand wanting "more" at PAX. The reality is that we had planned to announce "more", including an actual date for headstart. As often occurs in game development, "things happened" and we were not able to announce. It's far better to refrain from committing to a date and avoid having to publicly push it out, especially when there's a lot of moving parts involved. As Posi said at the panel though, the VIP Headstart is coming soon.

    Very Soon™.
    Thanks Zwill!
I hope you did not get the PAX Pox!!

I think he's just saying that simply seeing her shoulders was too much for most mortal forum-going gamers...

I have met Avatea in person and she is indeed a charismatic force of beauty! However, it is important for people to keep this respectful, hehe.
These are real people, after all. And... a lot of you are pretty scary (not in a good way!).

And that was not aimed at you, Steelclaw! Nothing wrong with what you said... haha... And you are scary in a wonderful way (in my opinion)!

I think these two were my favorites:

Men may wear the "male" style, while women may wear either "male" or "female" styles. (For the purposes of this game, I'd even extend the definition of "clothing" to cover things like musculature, size, and shape.)

I'm not commenting on the rightness or wrongness of this, but I think it's at the root of the constant player complaints of "why isn't this available for female models?", a complaint that has, historically, mystified the costume development team.
My own opinions of such values in the real world aside... Absolutely this 100%. This exact issue comes up any time different sets come out for male/huge and female character models.
I am hoping that the new business model will allow them to shift their priorities and imbalance the male/female costume options if they want to include different female-only pieces.
When they were making packs that costumers had to buy the whole thing if they wanted any of it... I can see that they'd want to maintain a relatively equal balance in numbers for either gender.
Now, the only factor, really, is development time and resources.
Hopefully they can muster enough in order to meet this suggested standard more often than not.

Understood and agreed... You know, I shouldn't have said "people who min/max..." That is WAY to generalized of a statement!!!
    My apologies!!

I'm going to put a small qualifier in that, haha, as I have zero problems with people who enjoy min/maxing, nor do I think they are a mindless collective!!

And yeah... I would certainly be in favor of beefing up Hand Clap. I do think it could be improved, even if I find it fun and good enough to keep (it's skirting that border for me and I'm pretty lenient!).
  24. Electric-Knight

    Glove Slap

And here I thought this was going to be a suggestion for a glove slap emote... Which I would have backed!

I actually have Hand Clap on my SD/SS tank, Amazing Ape!
I took it for concept reasons, mostly...
And, while I do not use it frequently, I have found it to be useful from time to time.
Since I tend to solo a lot and I have not IO slotted out the character at all, he occasionally runs into issues and Hand Clap is a good tool to mitigate things.
It's funny... people who min/max can eliminate such powers, but then some people may mistakenly think of those powers as useless.

I also have no problems with leveraging knockback powers and using KB strategically.

I was looking at new build ideas for my tank and was thinking that I'd be okay with ditching Hand Clap... Then I was playing him a bunch and realized that I want to keep that power.

I'd rather have an under-performing character that can use different tricks to leverage those weaknesses, than a character that has a bunch of extra defensive powers and less tricks to use.

Anyway... not like I can't have both! Just saying... when it comes down to one or the other... I'll take the bag of tricks and/or concept over maximizing survival.
