Welcome aboard, Hit Streak!
Just so you know, this community has been desperately wanting for someone to steal all of Zwill's hats, so you can really prove yourself to us by accomplishing just this one task.
Also... what is worse, a fastball to the knee or an arrow to the knee?

Quote:Honestly, I took that comment (back at the time) to mean that some person (or group) within the company had a say about it and was (were) very much against the idea of ever opening them up beyond the previous exclusivity. So, just to reiterate, you're calling ((either Positron or BABs, I cannot remember at this point and I cannot find the post)) a liar when he said that certain people would have to leave the company before ya'll would be able to sell the collector's stuff?
Other people hypothesized that it could be some sort of contractual thing (which never made any sense to me... if it was a contractual thing that meant they couldn't make it available, that sounds like the person/entity that owned the rights were no longer a part of the company... which also doesn't make much sense at all... how does an mmorpg lose the rights to something currently within their own game).
So, no... It does not mean he's calling anyone a liar.
It most likely means that people clung to hypothetical notions based off of an obscure comment made somewhat off the cuff.
Or, otherwise known as... typical fare. -
About the quivers...
Yeah, on one hand I can understand and respect their take on wanting to do it right and holding out until they feel like they can (I feel like their wings and capes somewhat resemble that standard)...
But, quivers don't really fit into the problem they side with for scabbards and weapons.
Just do a one-of quiver for sale. No need for a specific pack or anything... just a basic quiver with a few bolts in it... As someone else said, we can't customize arrows anyway.
Again, while I understand their issues with weapons and scabbards, I'm honestly a bit surprised that quivers were not only not done as soon as they got the back detail node in (Steampunk backpack) but that they still don't even have plans to do one.
This player here does not expect dynamic, super-customizable quivers... He'd just like one for his archery character (who has left his back detail empty... waiting for the certain eventuality of a quiver...).

Sure thing!
In the editor, go to "Other Furniture" and grab a cubicle (I think it's called "Office Furniture").
Place the cubicle wherever you like (on the floor, up high, wherever).
The cubicle's walls act like real walls and you can place any wall-mountable item on them!
Then you can remove the cubicle(s) and the wall items remain right where you hung them!
It's great... I often make full walls using wall cabinets. Not to mention it is great for hanging teleporter beacons in cool places... among many other things and ideas you may come up with!
I hope that was clear and good luck!!
Ask again if you have any questions/problems! -
The thread title made me think of this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6FmbMiIxws
Since the question was answered already, I figured I'd share... And, no, I do not think the question was dumb! I just instinctively wanted to answer, "Slow down...". -
Quote:Are you saying that something someone said on the internet is silly? The history of this game is certainly a data point to look at when making predictions. But I don't read too much into it because even though there may never have been an Issue launched during the month of March there is no rule or law that says that an Issue can't be launched during that month. It's pretty silly to think just because it hasn't happened it it never will.
Because that has never happened before... So, I don't think it could happen now.

You heard it here FIRST...
Issue 22 will be playable on the FORUMS!!!

Thanks!
I actually got to watch the Ustream today... but I have a question I am hoping someone knows the answer to...
Early in the session, Clockwork01 pointed to a question (asked by Psychoti) and he said that he could answer that question right now and gave an answer, while Zwill was trying to stop him to hold it off until the Q&A segment... Clockwork01 said something about "It'll be getting some love soon" or some such thing and I didn't hear any reference to what the actual subject of the question was!! And I don't think they returned to it during the actual Q&A bit.
The curiosity is gnawing at me... -
I bought those perks, through the full CE, when I started playing.
And then I managed to buy some of the Hero Gear Kits (at the first Boston M&G) for a few good friends and my wife...
And I absolutely wish they would put, at least, the Prestige Power Slide up for sale... And I'd like to see the Cape Of The Four Winds and whatever else they'd care to sell as well.
The exclusivity is for that period of time that it was exclusive, and nothing more. I mean... turn around and sell it cheaper a week or a month later... eh, that's obviously not so cool... But years later? A sliding power and a cape? Why would anyone get indignant about such a thing...
Buying anything off-market at a high-price is a gamble, as you never know when the item, or its contents, may become officially available again.
Ghost Falcon, I think it's fine to sell the other items without selling that Badge (I also, personally, have no objection to selling the badge or including it as a perk for buying a part or all of the items).
I just figured I would chime in with my feedback regarding this.
Also, thank you very much for explaining the issue, because I too was confused by comments we've heard about the subject!

With the plan for the Retro SciFi Pack Bubble Helmet to use Detail 2 (which seems like the right choice to me, but has the obvious result of not allowing beards or any other possibly character-defining Detail 2 option), could a version of the helmets be made that covers the bottom half of the face?
Maybe some sort of high-neck thingymabob inside of the helmet? Or possibly a larger helmet-base that rises that high (not sure that would work at all though).
While watching today's Ustream with Clockwork01, where he mentioned the helmet, the idea just struck me and I figured I'd offer it up, just in case.
It seemed like a good idea when I thought of it, but maybe it is just because I'd love to give the bubble helmet a try for this character that requires the lower half of his face to be hidden:
Either way, it is certainly no deal-breaker for me (and I'm so looking forward to this costume set!). I just figured I'd throw the idea out there.
On a completely different topic...
After watching the Ustream, I want to know what question Psychoti asked - near the beginning - that Clockwork01 very much wanted to answer with, "It will be getting some love soon!".
Curse you, Zwill, for trying to curtail his desire to answer questions before the Q&A session!!! -
Quote:I like this! *thumbs up*You know we are just taking it on faith that the person inside the redside contact is the piece of Aurora. If I was a clever 80 year old psychic I would trick a villain into helping me find a new body (Tyrka). I think Sister Psyche pulled a bait and switch and she is inside Tyrka and Wade only got Aurora's powers (which could make him fail in the end). Also being inside Tyrka's body would put her in a perfect position to screw up Wade's plan at the last minute. It's convenient that Tyrka/aurora had "some things to take care of" before she would meet up with you and return your kindness.
Just a thought......
Also, my thoughts...
"I had to kill my wife... it was for the good of the world!".
Sadly, I can tell you that this did not work for my legal defense, but I wish Manticore the best of luck. -

Quote:FlashToo - Character animation is one more discipline on the list of stuff we don’t do, but your suggestion for laying down and seated-pose emotes could have a place on another thread.
Ooops! I told FlashToo to post that here... I had seen the request for emote suggestions... but now I guess that was simply about effects-based emote ideas (like fireworks or whatever).
Der, my bad... I thought it was a little funny including character animation emotes, but now I realize I misunderstood!
Sorry, FlashToo!
Yes, I would definitely like to see that! -

Quote:Perfectly stated.I've never had a goal specifically in mind for my Super Pack purchases, beyond "Buying super packs." In each and every case, I have received exactly what I intended on purchasing: super packs. This isn't semantics. This isn't the difference between blue and light blue.
I like to buy cool stuff. Super packs have cool stuff. My ONLY expectation in buying them is cool stuff. Well, guess what? I bought super packs and got cool stuff.
At no point was I at risk of not getting exactly what I wanted.
The problem is for people (like me) who only find a select few of the things within the packs that we would define as "cool stuff".
That's our problem and no one else's, but that is why some people dislike these packs so much.
They cater to your view nicely. They tease and annoy those of us who only like/want the exclusive items.
It's just silly stuff in a video game, so I'm fine and my feedback has been given, hehe. -
Try and have fun without me, everyone!!!
I actually tried to kidnap my friend and drag him there, as suggested... but, in the process, his wife called the cops and now I am posting this from my iphone while being processed for jail... Thanks for the advice, guys!!
Hope to catch ya next time! -
Ooh, me like and I agree!
If you can, post this in the ALL Things FX thread too! They want emote suggestions as well!
I'm going to look around and see what other ones I can find... -
Haha... Arbiter Hawk stole the only type of contribution I was likely to make in this thread!! NOOOOOOOOOO!
Although, I noticed you failed to pick up Jumpkick... Psssh.
Best of luck, Zwill... My wife's main is a Kat/Regen Scrapper, and she's actually into IO builds a bit... I'll go steal her build and post it... I mean, I'll mention this to her! -
Quote:Aha, so I had it just a bit backwards!Or in other words: How you view incarnate advancement now is how I've pretty much always viewed endgame content, whether it was well-designed or not.
Yeah, I never saw the previous types of endgame rewards as such. And now I see the Incarnate Rewards as such...
It's funny, but the reason really boils down to that I enjoy options and don't ever really find myself concerned with increase in power. Obviously more options tends to increase my power, but my enjoyment comes from having more that I can choose to do at any moment, rather than having greater numerical statistics to do things quicker/easier.
If I have to put some effort/work into increasing my numbers a bit... I generally won't bother.
If the rewards to the same effort/work is to get some new options, then I probably will.
I'd say this is especially true for me in CoH, where you can feel quite powerful and be so successful without anything beyond the basics.
Not that there's a single thing wrong with anyone else's personal enjoyment... that's just how mine seems to operate.
-
Oh, and just to acknowledge this question!
Quote:Absolutely not!Do you think I'm arguing against the idea of various advancement paths?
Our exchange came entirely from me just having one tiny bit of disagreement with what you said.
After discussing it, I see how we were looking at it differently and now I understand why you said what you said.
I still see it differently and disagree that one means the other... but... you are not incorrect to say what you said.
Also...
Quote:I specifically focused on the numbers aspect because people were saying that "nothing like level shifts existed before," which is incorrect. Despite the lack of an explicit level shift, enhancing one's powers will have a similar net effect of enabling one to fight against higher-level enemies with fewer complications. It is true that no explicit level shift mechanic has existed before, but similar outcomes were achieved in the past via other means. How am I supposed to explain my position on this without referring to game mechanics and numbers?
Still, to be honest, I found the discussion and the result to be rewarding. -
Quote:For the record, I don't think it is a matter of "in retrospect", it's simply a matter of how I, personally, judge, value and classify certain things. That's in retrospect. What would you have told the players back then, who said that Hami enhancement was the only end game progress this game had, and it was locked behind participating in a huge trial they didn't want to participate in. Because there were players making that argument then. Would you honestly have told them that no, in fact this isn't really end game progress and so they had no foundation for their objection?
While the Incarnate system is definitely a much more developed and intricate system, that's a matter of detail. The question for the players themselves has always been is there an identifiable end game progression mechanism, and is it gated? Its clear to me that HOs do satisfy the notion that the devs were willing to tell players that some elements of the end game would be gated behind teamed content. That willingness to say it is the best indicator of their design philosophy, not the comparison to raw numbers.
Moreover, they said it more clearly when the LRSF was released. There, they actually used the words end game, and stated that while this game (at the time) was not a game with an involved end game, they felt it was reasonable to have some end game content for the highest performance players, and that end game content was going to be teamed as that was the most obvious way to create high end and high difficulty content at the time.
If people are looking for proof that the devs in the past have been willing to lock what they call end game content behind teamed tasks, the LRSF is unambiguous proof of that. The incarnate system is vastly larger and qualitatively different of course, but that doesn't change the fact that the LRSF was proof the devs were *willing* to lock some end game stuff behind teamed content. And until the markets showed up the only way to get HOs was from large raids or teamed task forces, or have someone give one to you. There was no way for a solo player to get them on their own.
That means the sum total of the Hamidon encounter and the LRSF and STF are proof the devs have in the past have been willing to create an end game, albeit a small one, which was predominantly locked behind teamed content. Whether that was the right decision or not doesn't change the fact that they did make it once before.
I wasn't thinking of the Incarnate Rewards as endgame content. It's funny, because I can understand how some people would scratch their heads at that... And that's fine. It's not an important distinction, in my book, but now I understand how others see and classify such things and that makes some sense.
To me, the advanced progression system of the Incarnate Rewards best relates to leveling up and earning powers. Why? Because it is a bunch of pools of powers with various choices/options and that is something that (just about) everyone and anyone playing the game jumps after. And that is why I see it as different from boost that come from a particular raid and why I wasn't placing them in the same category.
It's something that so many more people would be attracted to than Hami-Os.
Anyway, I'm not saying any of this stuff now as a rebuttal or to refute anything anyone is saying.
This is actually where I was coming from when the entire system was revealed and initial feedback was being given about the means to acquire the rewards.
All of the above is why I felt it was different from anything before and why it should be open to more than just multi-team play. -
Quote:Thank you and it's completely forgiven. Again, I apologize if I reacted too harshly to that. I just happen to like finding out that I'm wrong sometimes! It means I get to learn something, hehe. Thanks again and no worries!Sorry, that comment didn't come off as I wanted it to. I wasn't trying to be insulting, and I am sorry that I came across as insulting or trying to say you're some *** who wouldn't admit to being wrong.
Just quickly... and it looks like Arcanaville touched on this, but I only glimpsed at the first few words of that reply...
I think the main difference of our perspectives was that you were looking at it as endgame/high-end rewards and I was looking at it specifically as what those rewards are.
That's why I disagreed with your initial statement that the two systems and rewards were directly comparable.
It is truly my opinion that the Incarnate Rewards are so greatly different than such previous rewards, and that they relate more to regular level progression and power earning than advanced boosts/loot. So, that is how I judge and value those things.
Since they certainly deemed this stuff the "endgame content"... you are certainly not wrong to see the two as being equivalent in that regard.
I still do not see the two reward systems as being equivalent, but it is simply a matter of opinion/viewpoint and, if I said that you were "wrong" for your previous statement (I can't recall if I did), then I was wrong.
Apart from that, I don't judge and value them in that way, but I now understand how and why you and anybody else would do so.
At least, that's what I came to after reading your reply beforehand, but opted to avoid continuing it, hehe... Lemme see what Arcanaville had to say... -
Personally, I don't really think there's much of a mystery about whether the Super Packs with exclusive rewards (that people find appealing) would make more money than otherwise.
At least in direct sales.
However, I do worry about the long term effect, but that is something that really cannot be quantified... and I certainly do not raise it as some prospect of doom nor threatening concern... Just simply... Means of making more profits do not always make a more successful business.
It does pull in more revenue for the time-being though and I think that it is rather clear that Super Packs will pull in more than if had they not gone with exclusive rewards.
(Is it possible that I won't get attacked for suggesting that "means of making more profit doesn't always translate into a more successful business"? I do hope people understand that simple principle).
