Quote:Cool of you to admit and (yeah, I never play in Pocket D and am not exposed to that stuff) this is why blanket, absolute rules are a very bad thing to have.I'm probably just too exposed to the ho-hum dead-drum RP of Pocket Derp, and where people flex their god-levels of power too much. That likely perversed me initially, in all of this.
You both offer very good and, while briefly explained, thought-out alternatives.
And not quite kryptonite, Brenn. Just, all powers have a weakness, as the Incarnate Path does itself. If you're cut off, you die. Supposedly, going by lore. Who knows if that's true.
For every lousy player, there are great ones and you shouldn't hold them to limitations based on what the poorest player can handle.
Those are just my thoughts.
That is also why some people, myself included, will take your initial statements as wrong. There are plenty of people who can make things work maturely, properly, reasonably, collaboratively and cooperatively.
Laughing and mocking strangers, based on the limitations of the worst offenders, will only really cost you the fun of meeting and playing with great people.
Again, just my opinions on the matter. -
And we all know that a Technology Origin character gets his/her Endurance Enhancement bonuses from a WetWare Eng Cyberheart...
And their Fear powers are improved via Benedict Tech Facial Reconstruction (It works through masks and helmets, by the way).
Unless they are VIPs and craft their own enhancements... Then they craft Glimpses Of The Abyss or Efficacy Adaptors out of spell inks, scientific theories, alchemical gold that they loot or buy off of the market... Maybe some nevermelting ice or Clockwork bits... It all depends...
Anyone who doesn't adhere to this clearly-established-lore gets laughed at and posted onto my wall of shame.
And, of course, heroes and villains alike can only use certain powersets because of Dr. Brainstorm and his Resonance Manipulator! Adhere or be mocked, silly wrong-doers!
And, quite clearly, all activity within AE missions is entirely a virtual reality simulation, courtesy of Dr. Aeon and his wonderful company.
No one should ever even consider taking the missions within the AE as ICly REAL. It is make-believe, fake, virtual reality, super video games for our characters...
And I ICly laugh and mock all of the characters (being role-played horribly, horribly wrong) as though the AE missions are somehow part of the true reality. HAHAHA... the AE is a big IC video game and nothing more. Anyone who does it differenlt is wrong. And wrong is wrong and will be called out for it ICly.
It's really not difficult at all to put enough effort and respect into each and every interaction so that things can be understood, respected and mutually enjoyed.
Taking one blanket stance on your own perceived barriers and dishing that out on others ICly or OOCly only demonstrated one's own inabilities. -
Quote:Not to bring this up as defense against the thread... and not as any odd sworn allegiance to the greatness that is Boxing/Kick... haha... (as I don't really believe they are great at all)...Are there really?
I wonder if there's anyone that actually uses it as an attack (not counting people that use it only for RP reasons).
But I recently have been playing a SS/Inv Brute that I picked up Boxing (in order to get Tough and Weave) and I skipped Jab... and have been using Boxing as an attack in Jab's place.
I'm not sure that I am going to leave things this way, but I figured I'd give it a shot. The character is only level 24 right now and I only put an accuracy in Boxing for now.
It's just a filler (especially while I still don't have a few powers I'll be getting later on and my recharge isn't quite where it will be and all).
Other than that... I've not used it as a regular attack before.
And, before we learned otherwise, I was hopeful that all the power pools were getting the treatment that travel powers did. I can't say whether or not I think that'd definitely be a good thing to do, but I do know that I'd like it to happen (barring any doomsday results of such a change that I am missing due to my selfish wants, hehe). -
Quote:Oh, absolutely.Thanks, EK.
But the real thing here is that this isn't even an in lore absolute rule. We have seen in the lore where non-incarnates defeat incarnates. It happens.
Actually, my comment there about absolute rules was not about the Incarnate stuff. It was more of a ramble on my part, because I didn't see any value in adding to the ridiculous "discussion" of personal viewpoints turned into rules.
And by the words "Including this one", I was actually referring to my rule that "no rule is absolute".
Some rules that I believe in may be absolute... you never know! -

I didn't forget!!
It is the ONLY reason that I have stayed subscribeduh!!!1!!!!11
And if the rewards are not exactly what I have specifically detailes within the confined of my own entitlement-filled imagination...
I am going to call my lawyers and suuuuuuue those responsible!!!11!!!

Also... Yeah, that's such BS. I, personally, wouldn't kick you if you were a Mastermind with no pets. Who am I to judge without seeing you in action?! I am sure someone could prove valuable enough on a team... I really don't friggin' care! I know, I know... this game is SO hard!! And it is srs business!!!!!
No pets? No service!!
Seriously... anyone who is that concerned about someone else's build (unless trying to pull of something very specific and difficult - like a master run of something) is just flat out demonstrating how terrible of a gamer they are. I've pretty much soloed as a Blaster on teams of real-life friends who couldn't hold their own weight, because they were not very familiar with the game... Yeah, that's right... I'm callin' you min-maxing, player-kicking, sad weaklings out!!
Go build an AR/Devices... skip all primary and secondary choices, choose only power pool powers... and try and be a real man/woman/thing!! Nyaaaaaahhhhhh!!!
Y no guts??
(Not mad at all... just giving the OP some energy in return!) -
The problem is that ******** don't know that they are ********.
They don't even understand what it actually is that makes other people see them as ********. -
Quote:With this post, you have spoken directly to my heart. What bothers me more than the few powers we have now is that this area of content really hasn't been significantly added to since it was first introduced. I understand that the first batch of powers we got would be sort of a generic "proof of concept" to make sure we could actually craft the powers. But seriously that was how many years ago now? At this point we really ought to have like 100 or more craftable powers, not just the same dozen or so we started with.
For instance we have the one Revolver power. Sure that's fine as a generic "hand gun" power, but why is it that we don't have like 15 or 20 different kinds of "craftable firearms" of all shapes and sizes by now? Theoretically we should be able to run character with only temp powers if we really wanted to - that would allow us to totally customize our characters in so many ways. I'm not asking for more powerful powers, I'm just asking for a huge selection of temp powers.
It almost seems dumb to have the ability to craft temp powers and only have a few to choose from. If anything the Devs ought to be adding at least a few new ones with every Issue update. I think the Devs really missed out on the opportunity to give us more easy to create content in this area.
I very much agree! -
I am in complete awe of the utter insanity (and greatness)...
Absofabulofantasticalicioustaticifying! -
Real Scrappers don't want or need for anything.
Real Scrappers don't want a shiny gold star, because the other kids got something shiny.
Real Scrappers are born awesome and pay no attention to unique snowflake inherent bonuses.
Real Scrappers have pride in knowing that every other AT needed some kind of shiny just to try and get a little bit closer to the awesomeness that is being a Scrapper.
If you want to be a Real Scrapper, go put your Scrapper-Lock to some better use... -

Quote:Since you keep on insisting this......Either way, your power set is bad and ruined global pet and Lore Pet AI.
If there is this new bug for pets (and I have heard others mention it, especially with Umbra Beast), it is a bug that could have been caused by a great number of things and there is no reason to assume that Beast Mastery caused it. -
So, a related question...
Does the Coyote power not turn off Supremacy? Being a detoggle/limited power thingy, I was assuming it would have cut off Supremacy (as though you were in an only Affecting Yourself state).
If not... that's the dog's biscuit! -

I'd really love to make this game night and the summit, but, so far, it does not look like I will be on the West Coast in April.
I'm hoping to change some things around and make it happen, but it's not looking likely.
Have fun... And... If I do make it... Who's up for an old school 2nd Edition romp? Or even 1st Edition? -
Quote:I completely understand where you are coming from and I can't stand that sort of overreaction either.I don't think that this was ever really promised. They said they were planning on this being how it worked, but at least I was under the impression that this was during a time when the exact nitty-gritty details of this were still in flux.
I see that problem a lot here, and it's a huge reason why the devs and reps sometimes drive us nuts being so tight-lipped about every durn thing, even minor little things. It's because every off-hand comment, even when explicitly qualified with, "...is planned, but might change," is taken to be gospel truth.
However, this truly was a case that they announced how they thought it was going to work. And then they discovered it would not work that way, later on, and retracted it.
I'm not holding it against them that they "promised". I find "promise" to be a bit of a silly word, regarding such things, but this particular case was not one where they gave a vague estimate. It was when they were relaying general facts about how things would be with the new business model.
It's fine. Things happen. Mistakes are made. Sometimes "promises" are broken, hehe. I don't begrudge them for it at all, but this is not a case of someone egregiously taking the company's words out of context. This was the information delivered with the FAQs and such when the launch was near enough to begin offering the customers solid information.
Again, I understand where you're coming from, but I think you're wrong to paint this particular case with that brush.
Sometimes, poodoo happens. -
Of all the players I've lost, I miss myself the most.

Quote:Oh yeah!Musculature Radial has 33% end mod. Best of both worlds?
edit to add: to the OP, if it seems like +rech will benefit you more than +dam, it seems like a good choice.
I was even more clever than I remembered, hehehe.
And yeah, I see someone else pointed that out earlier too. -
I think it sucks and they should be hanged!!
Okay, not really, but this thread has been boring!
I think all the positive statements made have been fact. They;re adding way more under this new system. Hopefully it is actually paying off for them and they'll be able to continue that.
I am not entirely pleased with what they've done and how they've gone about it, but I'm absolutely not against the practice at all.
I will state that I find the $10 per powerset to be too high of a price.
That's just my opinion, so there it is.
With the VIP points per month, it has not been a negative issue for me. So, yabba dabba doo!

Quote:Thanks again, Zwill. No update on this either. To be honest, I do not expect these to be corrected anytime soon.
I can't lie, it's the opposite of what I want to hear... but it is honestly what I guessed.
Please do pass on, again, that overlord Electric-Knight is not pleased by this.
And now for something more cheerful:
-
I'm concerned about the community for getting this thread to 106 posts already...
Seriously... concerned about Scrappers...
I'm so worried about the baggage retrieval system they've got at Heathrow.

And, just to make it clear:
-
That's really all that needs to be understood.
They decide how and to who they want to reward prizes.
If you don't want to compete with free/premium players... Don't enter the contest!
Simple.
Thank you, Paragon Studios, for even having a fun contest and offering prizes too! -
I really considered (and initially planned on) getting Agility for the Electric-Knight, but I ended up going for Musculature and I have to say that the difference in damage was just the right amount that I may have been slightly missing before.
I don't know, I can still see clearly that the additional End Mod for each power could make a great difference... But the damage increase just made me feel like maybe I did the damage that people often say Electric Blast doesn't do naturally.
Plus, I already have Short Circuit and Power Sink fully slotted for Endurance Drain, so I don't have much issue draining with two clicks when I want to (and still do).
In the end... more damage won out for me.
I really should go and get an Agility to check out, since we can swap 'em out and all. -
