If you re-tweet our post, we'll respond directly to you with a code to use. No scramble. No luck involved. No twitchy fingers required. Simply re-tweet our post in the timeframe given and we'll direct message you with a code.

In short, if you want an item code, do the following:
    • Follow us on Twitter
    • Re-tweet our tweet when prompted to do so
    • Receive a code
And... right after I came back and replied to Paladin about all this... You post this.

Everything I said goes a lot further than just this one item, so I need to continue to look at what I've been thinking and figure out what's right for me... But...

Regardless, this is a great move, as far as exclusive item code giveaways go.
My beef is with the fact that you guys are choosing to use costume and customization options as exclusive giveaways. I have a problem with that. However, for this particular case... you guys have, once again, done good.

None of my negativity extends to you guys as a company or people... Just differences in taste, as far as I am concerned.
Until Super Pack options are made available elsewhere, I will know that our opinions differ greatly on that aspect... but I still love Paragon Studios, regardless.

I can see a benefit in having a rare object in game to inspire people to action and talk. The success that the game has seen after Freedom has me trusting the people involved in sales.

Also, the Twitter account announced that codes will resume after the NCSoft maintenance. If you're inclined for Twitter codes, you might want to camp out.
Thank you, my friend, your sentiment is greatly appreciated.
I try not to speak ahead of myself, as I may have, but...
It's not about Twitter at all. I have an account and have no problem with them giving away anything they are nice enough to give wherever and in whatever way they think of (haha, well, mostly... I could imagine some ways I may not be okay with, but ANYWAY...).

However, this is about exclusivity and, more so, the selling out of the costume and customization aspect of this game.
We all have our aspects of the game that we may love the most. Mine is being able to access anything and everything to make the characters we imagine come to life in this virtual world.
They have clearly decided that it is okay to use those aspects for exclusive rewards and I'm just not happy with it to the point that I'm sick of being disappointed every other announcement (Yay, Blaster love... booo Super Packs 2 exclusive and super rare items... Yay more cool stuff... boo exclusive Aura).

Incarnate costume and emote unlocks (fine, not everything is going to be my way and I can live with it, even if I disagree), Super Packs (I want to buy/pay for the items I want and I do not want to pay for items I do not want just to get them. Everything else in the packs got adjusted... but NOT costumes and not the black wolf... then the same exact thing with the second Super Pack and zero regard to those of us who hold the costumes and customization aspects to be the most important feature in the game). Tier 9 Vet rewards being rotated out with some vague possibilities to have them opened again... fine... Even if they include Elemental wings, fixed tech wings and jet pack stuff...
Kirby friggin' Dots aura?? Are you serious? And no way to acquire them normally... not now, not planned... who knows, we'll see... blah blah blah.
    Sick of it.
However, I get it. I see it. The writing on the wall is clear. It has been for a while. I was hopeful that they'd come around and stop using this aspect of the game this way, but they're not.

So... it's a matter of choice for me. Let it be and enjoy what I enjoy despite my disappointments with these options or let go of this hobby and stop hoping they'll change their mindset and approach with what I loved the most about it.

They're not evil for doing things the way they want, but I can't stand to see it continually get worse.

Oh no, they'd NEVER sell badges... Why? I don't know... but my favorite aspect is fair game (fine by me... I'll gladly pay for costumes and customization as I have been since the Boosters).

And they'd surely never only offer powersets the way they have offered costume pieces... As others have brought up. Oh, the outrage.
Well, I'm not outraged, but I'm just done having MY favorite aspect sold out to whatever marketing scheme they come up with.

Have fun. I'm not going to sit idly by during that. I've not. I've voiced my opinion each time, but my voice here has done nothing (that's fine, it absolutely does not have to!).

So, it's about me stopping a hobby that does things that annoy me to certain levels.
And, maybe my voting with my money may possibly change things, but i doubt it.
I am a minority within a minority and I get that.
However, I get enough of it in real life, lol... I'm sick of it cropping up in my pretendy fun time now.

No idea how this reply has turned out, but I'm just going to submit it.

  5. Yeah, I have zero problem with you using Facebook, Twitter and whatever outlets you deem worthwhile.
ZERO problem at all. I use them as well.

Exclusive costume items are just completely counter to all that I have enjoyed about this game.

You say you're going to continue this?
    I say fare well.

  7. I have to admit, typing all of this sarcasm without any emoticon indicators is a bit painful...

Still... Whether or not Paragon Studios will choose to adhere to the standard of the number 24 following the number 23 and preceding the number 25 is largely unknown.

I suppose we could take a look at what other elements of the game have followed this trend and attempt to extrapolate whether or not we can expect their Issue numbering system to follow the same guidelines...

When leveling a character, we do attain level 24 after level 23 and directly before level 25...
I've not checked all of the enhancements, but all that I have used seem to follow this same numbering system of 24 being directly in-between 23 and 25.

A full league of 3 teams does come out to 24 players...
However, we can't have a league of 25 players... So, I am not sure what would happen if we were able to add one more player to a 24-player league...

    Any other examples?

Of course, it's a bit of a paraphrase but it gets across the same point they made in a similar manner as to how they made it.
Their little coffee talk sessions are not official enough to define something as specific as whether 24 will come in-between 23 and 25 or not.
I'm sorry, but you will have to bring forward better evidence if you hope to convince anybody...

This isn't to say that they won't be available as contest rewards, or for other activities online (Zwillinger gave some away last night on Virtue, I believe). It just happens that the focus right now is to build an audience on twitter.

I'm just going to be completely honest here...
The fact that this company is continuing down the path of making costume and customization options exclusive grabs and at the end of long carrot'ed sticks... is really, truly turning me off of being a subscriber here.

We daydream of, and suggest, bazillions of costume and aura ideas for this game that we would love to use for our characters from level 1 and on...
And the company uses the time and resources to create things...
And you go against one of the greatest aspects of this game: The open, non-competitive, not-loot-based, not-exclusive-club-uber-player-based, wear whatever you want your character to wear character costumization of this casual friendly game...
So that these studio resources can result in the exact B.S. exclusivity parade of special costume items?

Seriously... It's getting really obnoxious and counter productive.

This game has excelled based around it being friendly and non-competitive and a vehicle for creating your character concept, true to form, from the beginning of your character's play.
    Stop. Pancaking. That. Up.

  11. I started out, as a new player, playing a Blaster.
I loved it and still prefer playing a Blaster over any other AT.

Saying "some people won't like this" does nothing to make what you said any less wrong.

I don't have to be a psychic to know that some people won't like me blasting them with a fire-hose. So, stating it beforehand does nothing (other than possibly show that I am close-minded and overly arrogant in my own interests and opinions).

Now we just get to point and laugh!
  13. Yeah, you can easily move away from the area to avoid hearing it.
It is gross and I can respect not liking it, but it is very easily avoided.
Honestly, I'd like it as a player character emote... Don't think you'd like that though, eh?
  14. I do think, and said so when Freedom first launched, that some sort of Free Trial to returning former-subscribers (Premiums) where they can play with all their toys would be best.

It could be rather tricky though... If they can't simply apply it to start the first time that account logs in post-Freedom.
If they can... Then give first-time-log-ins 15 days of unlimited access to their characters and IOs and such. Make sure there's a big TEXT WARNING along the lines of "These Things Will Go Away after a 15 day trial".

Sure, people would still complain, no doubt, but I think there'd be less of it and, more importantly, it'd give returning players a better welcome and a better idea of what they're missing by not sticking around.

I hope you do enjoy it back here.
As far as I'm concerned, the game is still going strong as ever... possibly better than ever in most categories.
And, for the record, I have spent less money since Freedom came along. I used to buy the Super Packs that would come out, but the VIP stipend has removed any need for me to spend any additional money.

Certainly one could go and spend money on getting anything and everything that they have for sale... but sticking to what I want and will use right away... I've not been running out of points.
So, as one wary customer after the announcement of Freedom... So far, I've gotten more for the same subscription price.

The people at Paragon Studios are still great as ever and keep delivering on things. Not everything is for everyone, but I have very few complaints.
And, most importantly... the game is still rocking fun for me.

Technically true, but still kinda reaching) powerset.

Italicized words are italicized for emphasis, by the way. And I only put one in this whole post. My question is not why we got the set. I understand there was a great deal of demand for it. My question is why it was in such high demand.
I understand where you're coming from...
Perhaps the better question is: Why are there so few comicbook characters with Water Powers?

Yeah, caring about numbers seems more illogical than caring about character concepts, imaginary worlds and fantastic adventures.
That might just be me though!

(And I'm not aiming that at Bronze Knight or anyone that has said anything differently... just something I have pointed out from time to time)

  18. Who needs Steam when we have Atomic Power!?!?!?!

    Okay, seriously...

So long as there was never any need or leveraging (exclusive Steam items) to have me install and run Steam, I'd love the game to have that kind of exposure. Packs and bundles could be fine, so long as I can get the stuff they contain normally... honestly, I could probably even live with a great deal that'd require me to install it once and remove it, if I so pleased.

I've never used Steam and don't foresee myself doing so, just because I have no need or cause to (nor any desire to).

I honestly don't know how good or bad it is though. I just don't play other games very much these days (don't play this one as often as I'd like!).

    Agreed 100%

Hope my post didn't come off that way at all and I'm sure Cap was just speaking from his personal preferences and not looking down.
Still... now I see how his words could be taken that way.
Sharing his preferences (and maybe even going farther, heehee) I honestly didn't read it that way.
I love when good communication brings us all closer.

So, what were we all saying? Oh, yeah... Nerf Hasten and remove Defense from the game!! Right?

Haha... seriously though, I am eagerly awaiting any and all news for Power Pools. I've not gotten my hopes up that customization is coming soon... (Seems like 5th powers and possibly some new pools)... but it has to be coming... Especially after Posi said he can't talk about that now (assuming Posi was on his game there and knew what he was saying by saying that...).
  21. Hehe, Dr Harmony, just for the record, I avoid using inspirations other than greens and blues due to the visual effects, I do not use the Leadership Pool for the same reason and I also do not take Hasten unless it calls for it conceptually (visually and possibly power-concept-wise).

    Just my preferences.

Frankly... I hate the visuals on inspirations and the Leadership Pools.
I started a thread about them and the suggestion to make them hidden per user option... and I was really surprised how many people felt the same way!
Especially for screenshots... how many great shots are ruined by purple shield sprites and such spinning around the character??

Bah... we hateses them... take them away!!
  22. Spot on, Flashtoo.
The ideal we could hope for is to have each hat come with some hair options. That's no small task as it requires each hat to be made individually with however many hairstyles, plus the User Interface work to provide those options.

Still, I'd always hoped they would do this: Hat - with no hair, with short hair, with medium hair, with long hair

You'd never satisfy all wants/needs, but even just with No Hair, Short Hair and Long Hair, I think it would be an enormous improvement.

Still... thems a lot of hats...
And they haven't done it, for all this time, so far...
